Someone picked it up for me from work and not sure how long it takes but can only comment on the quality of food. I ordered half a chicken with cucumber taziki that came with rice. The portion is HUGE and very tasty and tender chicken. The pita and garlic spread they provide i enjoyed very much as it was not sour like a bunch of these places. The rice is very flavorful, fluffy, and HUGE portion. Will def have to order whenever the office feels like ordering it for lunch. read more

Zaky's finally opened up and we were eager to try it! I love Mediterranean food, you can never have enough Mediterranean food places around. Well, the first thing that I noticed when walking in was the cold ambiance. I think ambiance is the wrong word actually. There was no ambiance. Sure they had taped a poster on the wall with the blue water and the white Mediterranean housing, but the walls are blindingly white and the spotlights are really bright. And the interior benches are impersonal and cold. So not much thought went into the decor. The menu board was fairly plentiful. I opted for the 1/2 Rotisserie chicken a la carte, it came with a side of garlic sauce and a pita bread. I thought $5.99 for that was reasonable, the chicken was excellent, nice and plump and juicy with crispy and well-seasoned skin. The garlic sauce was also good, just make sure to brush your teeth a lot after eating that garlic sauce because oh boy does that sauce stick with you for awhile! My husband ordered two sides of kabobs: One Kafta, one Beef. It was $3 per kabob, which initially I didn't think was bad, but once the kabobs came out, they were disappointingly small compared to what the average kabob place usually gives you. If this is what comes on a kabob plate, then I understand why people are stating it is overpriced. I did notice that some of the plates seemed high in price since this seems to be a "fast food" type of place, but since I didn't try the plates, I can't say until I try it whether or not it's accurately priced. So I was happy with my chicken, the kabobs tasted OK, not the best I've had though .... and they were too small. I think for now, 3 stars will do. read more

Decided at the last minute to throw a birthday party for my husband. With about 55 people planning to come, there was no way I could cook on my own. A friend used Zaky in Upland for a party last year and I remembered the food was awesome. I have friends who are vegetarian and others who are gluten free so I knew this would satisfy everyone. We got the $300.00 party pack which is supposed to feed 40-50 people - 60 kabobs of chicken, beef and kafta, a tray of hummus, a tray of tabbouleh, tahini, pickles, rice and pita bread. We had 52 in attendance and purchased two dozen extra falafels and a Greek salad. People packed their plates and many came back for more! I also had enough to send food home with several people. The food was delicious! I will admit that I didn't get to try the beef kabobs because I was mingling and when I went back to get one they were GONE!! The chicken was so tender and flavorful and the kafta were very large and delicious! The tray of hummus was quite large and there was nothing left! People loved it! The rice does have little noodles in it so be careful if you are gluten free but wow it is tasty and even more so with the tahini sauce on it the next day! The pickles and turnips were plentiful and delicious. I did not have any falafel but was told that it was great. The only negative was that my friend who picked up the food had to wait almost half an hour for pick up when it was supposed to be ready at 5:00 and as an apology, they gave him two little pieces of baklava (???)! Nonetheless, because the food was so delicious and the price was right, I would use them again for catering. Coworkers called in order 1220pm for 1pm pickup. Didnt check order as I should have and when I got back to the office it was wrong and missing items. Not from around there, was passing through as I work delivery. I had to go back out to grab something close by so the people without food didnt starve, and then drive back after work 18 miles to zakys for a refund on missing items which was only $11. I felt super cheap doing that, I dont necessarily desperately need it, but I didnt want to let them have that for sure LOL. read more

Lunch breaks in Upland can be rough if you're not a fast-food joint junkie. Zaky's more than breaks up the bore, they rock it! While they are no Zankou, they serve up tender meats that are cooked to perfection, seasoned well and placed on a soft bed of rice pilaf. If you're gluten-free, order the french fries instead and dip them in the garlic sauce. Trust. Lunch time at Zaky's is a nightmare, they get slammed and it can take a very long time to crank out an order. This is why the telephone was invented. The first phone call ever was not "Mr. Watson - come here - I want to see you" it was "Shish-kebab plate, sub fries." Orders get filled in about 15 minutes but on busy days it can take 40. Don't worry, Zaky's keeps and reheats very well. Come on down and skip artery-clogging faux-food today. Your body will thank you. read more

Been here twice, one time for dine in, the other time for to go, and I still enjoy their food. The first time I ordered the steak kebab plate and the meat was so tender and flavorful. The place was pretty empty at lunch time, which is a shame, and the funny thing is they were blasting Christian rock music. Nothing against that per se, but it's just the first time I've been to a restaurant that did that so it was note-worthy. The second time I ordered the lamb kebab wrap to go and fries and they were just as tasty. The lamb kebab was as tender and flavorful as their steak kebab. The fries were still good even after they had grown cold (my fault, not theirs). I'm so glad that they have a Pasadena location which is closer to us; I was thinking it's a shame they're only in Upland since we're rarely over in that area. read more

Ordered shish kabob. Meat was very tender and heavily seasoned. Hummus was pretty decent. Pita bread was standard Arabic brand bread from the SoCal bakery. Rice was too salty though. Service was friendly. Not sure I would go back simply because there are better kabob places around but it was decent for the price. read more

Ehh. Not really worth the price, especially since the food is just ok. I ordered the chicken kabob plate to go. There were only a couple other patrons in the store, and it still took over 15 mins to get my food out. Not good when you're on a 30 minute lunch break. The food was ok. The Beef Kabob were delicious, they make them fresh and I would come again . The sweet tea tasted good. Food for three people totaled $50. You order at the counter and they call you in about 10 minutes to pick up the order. Plenty of parking and staff is friendly. read more

This place is so UNDER STAFF! Only two people running the show on a Thursday lunch hour. The cashier is also doing the cooking and the guy on the back is doing whatever else needed: cooking, packing and taking phone orders. It took nearly 20 minutes to get my Chicken Kabob and a side of Tabbouleh. Food wise: Chicken was dried and overcooked. Rice was good with garlic butter added. Humus was typical nothing too fancy. Radish was good since is AYCE. Tabbouleh was okay. Nothing fancy. A bit pricy for a small tub of tabbouleh. - $3.99 I'm usually a big fan when it comes to Mediterranean Grill, but this is not that fabulous!! The Glendale folks does it much better! I simply ordered one beef and one chicken skewer which the cashier stated it would take 10-15 minutes which was fine even though it was closer to 20 minutes but as I observed by the cashier area I noticed one male and one female eating while in the kitchen. They did not have gloves on nor did they bother to take in consideration that they have an open kitchen that people can see. I asked the cashier to call the manager and the female lady that was eating in the kitchen was the manager. I spoke to her like an adult and let her know that was not sanitary to do and I would like my money back. She apparently got offended and started yelling at me and cussing at me in Spanish (like if I was not bilingual). This is unprofessional and unsanitary!!! I tried this place for the first time a few weeks ago and had it again yesterday. Their food is really good and always fresh. Only down side is the vibe in this place. I personally don't like open kitchen's and seeing employees handle my food, just weirds me out. That's just my thing, though. I randomly was craving Mediterranean food and remembered there was a place by Starbucks. I ordered the chicken shawarma plate with fire feta, turnips and peppers, and cucumber yogurt. omg it's soooooooooo good. I've been there literally 4 times in 6 days. The fire feta and baba ghanouj are so delicious. I'm quite addicted. The rotisserie chicken dinner is huge and could easily be shared. I like their food. I would order from them once in a while. There are two nice ladies that run the orders. She always smiles and tries to get work going. The only thing I don't like about this place is that they need to hire more people to be faster in processing people's orders. If you're a salad person like me - order the Small Chicken Salad. No kidding - if you can eat it in one sitting ... You ARE a machine! If you like a grilled cheese type dish - the chicken sandwich that is made like a panini... CAN'T BE BEAT! Every bite is full of spices, tender chicken, and melty cheese that would make a french chef cry... SO GOOD! I've used them to cater lunch at the oncology doctor's office across the street and the office staff was thrilled. This place is very delicious. It is pricey but every time I go in the staff is very polite. I do recommend to call your order in cause they do take a while to have your order ready but I have never waiting more then 10 minutes with my phone order. If I can give this a Zero stars I would!!!!! If you are like me wanting to try this Mediterranean place all I can say is please I'm saving you from eating here and just don't even try it!!!! On Thursday my family and I wanted to try this place so we gave it the benefit of the doubt I ordered through the phone just to get there pay and leave... once I got there no one was attending me their customer service was horrible everyone just kept looking at me and talking in the back with each other not attending me! I was waiting at least 3 to 4 minutes then another customer comes in and I guess because she had complain about her order in the morning they knew who she was because the food she bought in the morning they found glass inside the sausage so I was still waiting to be attended & once this customer came in right away they attended her ignoring me the manager was present this whole time and she was also doing the same as her employees so just this itself tells you so much about this place... I kept hearing them talk for about 10 minutes my food was just sitting there for about 25 minutes because that's how long it took them to attend me. I left already upset I get home we start eating the food then I found a big hair in the garlic sauce oh and that's not all I also found a hair in between the humus and rice the long hair was in the rice stretching to the humus I couldn't eat after that it grossed me out I called and the manager answered she said "oh no problem come back and we will give you a new plate" like really why would you think I want to go back to the nasty place to get another plate knowing your garlic spread and humus or rice were already contaminated by the hairs I found in them and all due to because when I was there I didn't see any of her employees or the so call manager wearing hair nets!!!! I hung up at that point because it's not the point to get another plate I have money I can just buy myself more food plates I don't need to be given anything for free specially when I know they are dirty people working there!!! The point was to notify them but they just want to take the easy way out and give you another plate not knowing if your going to find anything in it as well!
