I'm not sure what the hype is. I was excited to try this place and I was really disappointed. Cons: - We got a couple of different breakfast burritos. They were very bland and the green salsa was not good. - I got an iced chai latte with oat milk and it tasked like pure sugar. - I also got the banana chocolate muffin that took 20 minutes for some reason (it was in the display) and it was basically frozen, grainy, and tasted like coconut? - Everything is way too expensive for the bland tastes. This place was great! On our way back from a weekend trip to SD we needed our coffee fix and found this spot and it was also recommended buy a friend and it did not disappoint. Their service was great even with as busy as they were the staff was friendly and helpful. I took it to go so I couldn't sit while I waited but the seats looked really accommodating for someone on the larger side which is good. Again as usual I forgot to take a picture of the food, I was still recovering from a hangover.. you know how it is. But I would definitely stop by again, wish they were closer to where I live but.. wow!! read more

maybe i just went on a bad day, because the reviews for this place are so good. My experience however was nothing spectacular. The cashier spent more time talking to her three friends in line ahead of us, doodling on their cups for them and talking to them about their college then she did taking orders. Then the manager? owner? mansplained what a flat white vs a cortado was to me. Then recommended a latte to me and said it was the same as a flat white. wut¿? When I got my hazelnut latte (a very basic order, how do you mess that up?) somehow it tasted like coconuts and water - exactly like sunscreen, and not a hint of coffee or hazelnut. The girl who was playing with her friend while she was supposed to be working was the same one who made the drink.. so who knows if she really read the order... My friends got 2 strawberry banana smoothies and stated they tasted like basil and strawberries... not sure how that happens. but they still said they were good. I much prefer going to smaller, local own shops but this place isn't the best. Maybe I'll try it again during the day when the college kids are at school. ;) read more

Food was good but over priced. Coffee was fine, but again the price was $$$. I appreciate the Gf options that included gf bread for a breakfast sandwich and some baked goods. Still rather go here than a Starbucks, to support local business. But I would suggest checking yelp or driving around there are plenty of great nearby choices that are more budget friendly. Went from a 4 to a 3 star because of the woman behind the counter was not just rude, but actually bullying customers. Turned my stomach a bit. Impatient with a young very well behaved child who changed her mind mid order, acted like the kid was a brat and pain in her ass. Then gave the parents attitude. Snapped at me as well later when i ordered, we kinda just chuckled, we were in such a good mood, and she was so over the top nasty it seemed almost comical. She was so busy being annoyed by pleasant customers that she messed up our order, we caught it in time. When we brought it to her attention, She changed her tune a bit and quieted down. She was clearly having a bad day, but it was sad to watch how negatively she was affecting the paying customers before and after us. Hopefully this woman isn't like this often. We may shoot back again, but to pay extra for attitude isn't really my idea of a good deal, so probably not for a while... Parking was easy, space was clean, and ample seating inside and out. Ordered ahead of time because I was coming on a Saturday morning and I figured beach + beach community + south OC demographic means brunch time will be busy. Guess what? Waited longer than 20 minutes for the online order I placed ahead of time to avoid waiting. Staff is nice but also aloof. I ordered a veggie and lox sandwich which I thought wouldn't be hard to make even if they had to make it on the spot...but somehow I still had to wait longer than 20 minutes for it? They had my tea latte ready though - but it was cold? ??? Also, it tasted like really watered down tea - it had no sweetener in at all and it didn't taste like tea, just think lukewarm water. After waiting a little over 20 minutes, I went back up to ask about my sandwich and another staff member helped me. She said she'd check in on it then came back out with the sandwich. Kind of frustrating that I had to ask for my sandwich again in order to receive it. It's as if no one was keeping track of orders. And the sandwich, dear god, THIS is what took over 20 minutes? Literally a slice of tomato with some sprouts and avocado thrown on cold bread. There is also a thick layer of cream cheese and a thick slice of smoked salmon that I don't trust right now and don't want to eat. I don't understand how this could have physically taken 20 minutes to make. Also, it looked better in the pictures and was described better in their menu than how it tasted in real life. There is a drive thru line for those on the go. Not sure how much faster that is. Found this place underwhelming. I'm really upset at the $20 I wasted for food I didn't finish or even slightly enjoy. If the food and tea was at least good, I would have forgiven the wait/forgotten food. read more

But the service is not great and I don't know if it's the lack of oxygen going to peoples brains or what but I just ordered avocado toast and open led my to go box and got a piece of dry sourdough bread with nothing on it. I'm in a hurry so I don't have time to go back and exchange it but make sure you look at what you get before you leave the drive-through because obviously they don't have their stuff together. Used to be really good quality for the price and used to be fast. Spent about 20 minutes waiting for a bagel with cream cheese and avocado, when I got the bagel there was basically nothing on it. When sitting in the drive thru the employees were too busy talking to each other to even realize we were sitting in the drive thru and when they did notice they continued to ignore us. Friendly service, laid back vibe, delicious espresso. I called in an order when I was in a hurry. Still stood in line to pay when I got there but was super happy drink was ready to go right when I paid. Would be better to have a system where this was better orchestrated, but overall I was happy to not have to wait around for it to get made. The person at the counter super chill and not worried about being rude by ignoring you to chat with coworker or taking their time despite the line being out the door. The inside is small, but there are few tables for laptop work and a great outdoor patio for sipping, snacking, and sniffing the ocean air. Amazing menu, lives up to and exceeds expectations. Staff are joyful and authentic. They didn't make you feel rushed here. Efficient drink making, excellent quality. Not recommend. Took one sip of the coffee and didn't touch it again. It was made with cold brew over ice and she added milk on top. We all ordered lattes, which has espresso. These didn't. One coffee was $8 Food was not bad. But I wouldn't get it again. Not worth the money. read more
