The beet salad was really good if you like beets. It's just a heavy type of pizza with strong flavors so you don't need much. The inside of the restaurant is kind of plain, the quality of the food doesn't fit the old dive bar pizza kind of interior. Only reason for the 4 stars is that I found my go to pizza flavor I fell in love with but they don't always have it. Oof this is a hard review to rate because on one hand, Zelo Gourmet Pizza certainly knows how to make a dang good 'za but on the other, we found hair baked into the crust. We recently placed a takeout order of a whole Corn pizza, 2 slices of the Pepperoni pizza, and the Beet Salad. The crust on all of these pizzas were phenomenal - I don't typically eat the crust unless I get my hands on a side of ranch but these don't need any helpings; the cornmeal crusts speak for themselves. The Beet Salad was also the perfect pairing to the pizzas - it was light and refreshing. Despite the sanitary mishap, I'd still like to come back again and try out their Zuccotto and Meat Calzone. read more

I'm not sure what they do to make this pizza taste so good, but I think it is worth the price, which is more than your average pizza. But then this is not your average pie. I'd say try it, you'll like it. Wether it's worth it is up to you, I know I'll be back. The vibe here is kind of divey, but the staff is very friendly and they seem to enjoy their jobs. There is quite a bit of interesting pizza related old memorabilia on the was one can peruse while the pizza is cooking. I tried the corn pizza, which was good, but the corn flavor just wasn't there, I guess the corn kernels are not right off the cob. What a birthday treat I had !!!!!!!After reading all the reviews we picked half a corn pizza (YUMMMM) and half a pesto pizza (INCREDIBLE) add whole roast garlic, both amazing choices. Wow!!!! we got a side of meatballs and I'm so glad we did. They came with so much sauce and we dipped our garlic bread because yes we got garlic bread as well into the sauce. Oh my gosh delicious.. I was so excited to try the beet salad. I made the mistake of asking for the blue cheese on the side which they gave to us but it was so good and so mild and creamy that I just dumped it right into the salad and mixed it together at home. Rookie mistake next time. I will definitely get the blue cheese on it and I will get a whole salad. Everybody says a half is big enough and it was a good size but we were sharing and neither one of us wanted to take the last portion because we wanted the other one to have it , definitely should've got the large. This pizza is very filling emphasis on very and we both ate just one piece but with a meatball and a little garlic bread and the salad as well we were beyond full. Since it was my birthday, we got two pieces of cake really only needed one. It is very good. It is not overly sweet. It has maybe a hint of a taste of some type of amaretto or something in the chocolate mousse filling. Definitely something you would want to share at the end of a meal one piece between two or three people just to get a little nibble because the meal will definitely fill you up. There are a few comments about the pizza being expensive. We had one piece on Sunday another piece Monday night for dinner and we are both going to have the last pieces tonight Tuesday for dinner. It is a genuinely high-quality meal and you feel full in a way that stays with you. It's not like you could just eat three pieces of pizza and then get up and have some munchies later. I've been coming here for years ever since Mike opened up 30 some years ago. I've always enjoyed the food and the service. Tonight was a complete turn-off. The help were incredibly rude, disrespectful and outright obnoxious! The guy making the pizza and the one working the register, in particular. The food was subpar as the pizza was undercooked. I hope Mike sees this review since he isn't around much anymore and is genuinely a good guy and has put his heart and soul into this business. read more

First time getting takeout, and the Zelo's pizza was just as good to-go as it is dine-in. I don't know anywhere else to get cornmeal pizza and it's a highlight whenever I'm visiting family. The corn pizza is always a go to, the corn and sweet onions are such an unique delicious flavor. Along with the filling, crunchy crust texture is a great. This place is outrageous expensive for not that great pizza. The crust was hard. They said all their pizzas are premade so if we wanted to make our own we would have to get a cheese pizza and to add toppings. It was $46 for a large!!! Really????? Pair it with a corn topping pizza, you have the convergence of the greatest-gasms in your mouth! If you like corn, you should definitely give it a try. Place is amazing and eclectic. Folks, if you are trying to compare it to a standard pizza it's not! I saw some review complaining about the cracked dry crust. SMH- it's cornmeal crust and freaking amazing. I was one of Mikes first customers when I use to bring my kids after soccer practice. The beet salad and pizza are second to none. Love this place. Have been coming here for years. The roasted chicken is super moist and flavorful. And the potato was amazing because it soaked up all the flavor from the chicken. The beet salad is a must order item for us. We usually order full corn pizza because it's what they are known for. Today we decided to get 1/2 corn pizza and 1/2 pepperoni and sausage just to try out other flavors and it tasted so yummy. This was my first time trying pizza made with cornmeal crust and unfortunately I wasn't particularly impressed. Let's start with the positives. The service was fantastic. All of the employees were extremely friendly and attentive, and you could tell that they genuinely wanted us to have a good experience. It was a chilly night and the heater wasn't working. However, the employee kept troubleshooting and eventually got it to work. We appreciated that so much. To start off the meal, we ordered the broccoli salad. This was so yummy. It was fresh and the combination of all the different flavors was great. Next up we ordered 3 pizzas to share. We got the corn, veggie, and spinach pesto. I found all three to be pretty average. The cornmeal crust made the pizzas pretty bland, even with all the toppings. They're also really heavy and I got full quickly. Overall I found them to be just okay. Been coming here for years and Zelos has never let me down. They are always friendly, timely with our order and the food is always accurate and quality.
