The sushi here tastes very fresh and the fillings are ample. My favorite was the Langostino roll. I normally don't like the creamy type of sushi but they made this one so good, I loved it! We tried a variety and all of them were good. The happy hour prices let you sample more at better prices and if not for the happy hour prices, it's a bit pricey. The place is small but clean. The waitress could have checked on us more frequently. We wanted more wasabi but she disappeared. I wish they would just give more wasabi because we received only about half a teaspoon for our large order of sushi rolls which didn't make sense. I liked this place's interpretation of the rolls. Been coming to Zono Sushi for many years now and every time I come, the staff is very friendly and the service is great. I always order the dinner combo special (Salmon and an item); this time I ordered the Sesame Chicken. Depending on my appetite, I order an additional roll. The combo comes with your choice of 2 main items, salad, miso soup, white rice, 2 California rolls & 2 Gyoza. The Salmon was moist and flavorful, as well was the other items I had. I order Fire Dragon roll, spicy tuna with Jalapeños on top. Not as spicy as it sounds, it can use a bit more of a kick to it. Spicy tuna was a generous portion I must say. Then the hand rolls. I order with soy paper, got three different hand rolls. Baked salmon, salmon )raw, and I forgot the third one (believe it was the HR hand roll). The baked salmon was on point, came with a lil bit of sweet sauce in it. Regular salmon hand roll went down a lil different. Probably the reason for my three star not 5. Gave me the upset stomach. This place was a 5/5 for me, but I had the absolute worst service today. I normally can be very understanding with shortages and delays, but I waited nearly a hour for my food. One of my rolls was made and sat on the counter for an hour because they forgot about placing the second one. There was absolutely no explanation given for the extended wait. There was only two tables with two people each at them and a separate person who made an order over the phone came in and got their food before me. Very disappointed. read more

Tried and true throughout the years for great lunch combination bento boxes and such. I had not been there in several years until recently and I must say the place needs updating. It feels old. The booths, the floor, everything... They need to update and upgrade it all. We were in time for their weekday happy hour that goes on until 8pm, which is nice. We ordered sesame chicken ($3.50) which I have always loved here with a squeeze or 3 of the provided lemon slice and creamy dipping sauce. I'm a big fan. We also got shrimp & vegetable tempura ($3.50). It was a good with a good sized variety & portion. We had to get the crabmeat cheese puff ($3.50) which you really cannot go without. Crab meat and cream cheese in a deep fried won ton wrapper. Excellent. Comes with sweet & sour dipping sauce. We also got a spider roll ($6.95) as I had to have some softshell crab. It was pretty good. Big rolls. Gotta eat in a few bites or will def be a choking hazard. We also ordered a Z roll ($8.95) which is a spicy tuna roll topped with avocado with spicy mayo and eel sauce. It was just ok. Food was decent. The classics were as expected. They were good. Service was a little too disruptive with the lady asking us and other booths next to us if we were ok every 5 mins or so. I know she meant well but it was kind of overkill. Place and location are below average. I thought it's chain from Glendale zono but they said this two zono separated. We came during lunch time and they had few good offers. Menu was so weird it was on 10 different papers and some were written by hand. Sushi was average but it was not bad. They have a lot of things to work on. Options were a bit pricey considering it was lunch but it was a good amount of food. The food was pretty good overall. The place itself it quite run down and not as clean as it should be. The seats were super uncomfortable as they were sunken in & collapsed which made the height of the table wrong. This was in the back dining room which did not have true air conditioning but a big weird fan unit with a huge hose. It was cool enough but also not as hot as it is lately, so i imagine that glass-roofed room is pretty brutal this time of year. This is quite a nice little sushi restaurant. The staff is very attentive and friendly. The restaurant is clean but the decor is a little out dated and some of the seats are slightly ripping. Nothing that is a big deal but it's not super fancy. The food I would say was good but not great I would rate the food at a 4 out of 5. My review loses one mire star for the cost. For lunch it cost me $30 to get full which is a bit high. I'm sure I could have gone to an all you can eat for that price or less. I always loved the staff in the Burbank restaurant they knew me and my family very well always gave us great service. But recently their new staff and Cooks have been very unprofessional. The young waitresses seem irritated at times while serving. I've actually witnessed then play favoritism with Japanese guests. Going a smile on their face, to a scowl. As I call them to my table. Its hard to catch them running by to get a drink refilled. The food they serve is a shell of its old self. In fact I got the worst service on my birthday when we were the only people in the whole restaurant. We used to do all of our birthdays at Zono. I know we will not do any of them there from now on.
