So I was here the night of Thursday, 11/21, but at 1:12, so essentially the early morning of 11/22. 1 (One) Dollar Pizza was already closed, no lights with the front gate down; I had presumed they'd be open until 2-3am such as on Friday's and Saturday's (actual hours are until 4am on those days) -- thus, I had hoped they'd have similar hours on Tuesday's and Thursday's as well. On a different night, two or three times, later in the night after I had left a bar or something of the sort, I was charged more than the menu price -- only after I had returned later, did I realize. When it's late at night, just ensure you're paying the menu price and not what you're told at the register. But this is just an example of a common institutional problem within our global economy: the concept of profit maximization reigning supreme over that of promoting a minimum level of well-being for all humans. We all know there exists a certain price for a slice in Manhattan, depending on the quality. However, we're all still willing to pay more for more influential/visible brands, such as Papa John's over a dollar slice shop. But that's just part of the problem, people buying/using a brand due to an image rather than what the company stands for (outliers such as Patagonia do exist though, when it comes to addressing environmental impacts). Single use plastics have the potential to be, and are already, devastating to modern society. For example, the Great Pacific Garbage Patch ( whose description I'm linking here, and don't worry I read the entire article before posting it, ( https://www.nationalgeographic.org/encyclopedia/great-pacific-garbage-patch/ ), is just one way in which we're hurting our world, especially since we're not utilizing a regenerative economy/society. Well, be aware that's just for the cheese that's usually not even on display. Misleading and can't recommend. It was to my dismay, starting in 2018 that 1 Dollar Pizza started charging $1.25 for their cheese slices. I understand that the cost of living may increase over the years. As cliche as the name is, for $1-$2.50, it really is the best pizza. You've got to be sure they heat it for you, or it's made fresh and still hot. Cold pizza just isn't the same. I've tried the cheese, my favorite, spicy chicken, bacon, and pepperoni. All are delicious! It tastes like the New York style pizza you crave! The shop is small and meant to get you in and out, like a real New Yorker you have to walk and eat. They have a few tables that you can stand at and eat quickly but this is not a restaurant you stay at for a short period of time. We still bought 4 slices: two were gross, cold, and dry "Margherita" slices and the other two didn't matter. I think this is a standard pizza you can expect from this city. While I was waiting for my company for dinner, I decided to have a slice of sausage and pepperoni. It was pretty tasty, but I am 99% sure you can get pizza of this quality in most places in the city in reasonable price. For that reason this is a 3 star pizza. Don't get me wrong. Coming out of a concert starving, my friends and I were scrambling to find some great food. We stopped by a few places and they all were one of three things: closed, overcrowded to the point where you can't eat, or looked like death. This place is none of those.
