man and a boy cooking pizza

Visiting NY for the first and one of the must-dos on our list was to try really good local pizza. So, this place (specifically) was strongly recommended by our local born and raised tour guide who claimed that this is the absolute best NY pizza ever, and it sounded like he knew his pizzas. He also made doubly sure that we came to this 99c pizza hole-in-the-wall vs any others. So off we went to try the "best" pizza NY had to offer. We ordered a slice of Veggie pizza and a slice of Ricotta pizza. Ok, so the veggie pizza was definitely tasted good.....for a very plain and boring veggie pizza. What my wife and I totally agreed on was that the Ricotta pizza was absolutely over-the-top delicious, and the best pizza we have had since we arrived.....and we had already tried 2 or 3 other highly recommended places. Yes, the crust is not as firm and crispy on the bottom as others we'd tried, but the ingredients were so fresh and went so well together.... and with that yummy hot and fresh just out-of-the oven crust ....wow.....d'lish! We really enjoyed trying the pizza here, but we noticed that every time we passed this place, the lines are always quite long, but it moves fast though, and being a hole-in-the wall there is no where to sit....so we found a concrete block at the side of the busy street and enjoyed our pizza there :)

The end of an era. No more dollar pizza at this location. It is now $1.50. There is only one half a table to stand to eat. No seating room and no bathroom. The official bird of New York also known as the pigeon is sure to flock near you for crumbs. The pizza is still good here not too much pasta sauce. It's worth the trip.

No thrills, no sit down, just grab your quick slice of NY pizza and go. We hit a couple of spots and honestly this was the best place we had and it's very reasonable in pricing. When I get back to NY it's gonna be a first stop.

$1 cheese slice (or $3 for two slices + can of soda)

For 99 cents (technically $1), I really can't knock it. We stumbled on this pizza shop in passing and ordered the $1 cheese slice for a late night snack. While there was a line, it went quickly and we gobbled our slices on the side of the street. There was a panhandler panhandling at the shop, but the owner was quick to address the situation and take care of his customers. The pizza was hot and ready and is everything you need a slice of pizza to be at it's most basic. It hit the spot! A pepperoni slice is $2. A whole pie (cheese only) is $8. They also have a meal deal of 2 slices of cheese and a can of soda for $3. All in all, a solid stop for the classic $1 slice.

Worth the wait. Headed to the airport figured we'd grab a quick snack, talk about hot and ready. Owner told us 10 minutes because they were already sold out of cheese pizza slices at 10:46AM! Each bite was tasty and left me thinking how hot should have gotten 2 slices instead of just 1!

Some of the best 99¢ pizza I've had in New York. Super fast service, small fee but big flavors, a NY classic, I could have gone for another slice lol. small, cramped shop but it's so fast and outside such a beautiful city, it's all good.

Wanted a quick bite so why not get a quick slice? Stopped in, got the regular 2 Cheese Slices and a Bev for 2.99, can't really beat that. The pizza is never a miss, always hot and ready to devour. Usually fast service as well, line moves quick if there is one! Staff is always friendly and ready to serve the next customer! Thanks for the business!

What is that white stuff on my Pizza ? It looked like The Halal Guys White Sauce, but no it was ranch dressing, I ordered the Chicken Bacon RancH Pizza, who would have known. It was Ok, the flavors actually matched up only there was not enough Chicken or Bacon, I think they over drizzle the pizza to hide that fact. But that didn't stop the customers from coming here there was a line for the 99-cent plain slice. And the place did look a bit better than some of the other 99-cent pizza joints in the neighborhood.

The prices can't be beat and the flavor of the pizza is pretty great! Service however is lacking. They were very busy and we got skipped in line and ignored while ordering. Definitely a good place for a quick cheap bite when looking for pizza. Don't let the name fool you though, only cheese is 99 cents, but everything else is very reasonable still.

For $1 pizza this place was pretty darn good. I liked it better than some of the other known places in the time square district. The crust was soft and buttery, if I lived here I would be eating here often

Price was right at 1.50 a slice but pizza was not good. Taste like you make it home from grocery store frozen pizza.

Pizza was cold, not the best. The best thing going is the price. Only got it out of convenience...probably won't try again.

The arancini was a standout: perfectly crisp on the outside, creamy inside, and served with a rich, delicious sauce that tied it all together. We ended on the tiramisu, which was absolutely worth saving room. It was light, flavorful, and a perfect finish to the meal. What really elevated the experience, though, was the staff. Everyone was genuinely kind and helpful--especially notable for New York--and it made the whole evening feel relaxed and welcoming. A small heads-up: it's a bit tricky to find, so give yourself extra time. That said, the hidden, underground subway setting is part of the charm and makes the whole experience feel unique. I'd love to see more restaurants creatively use these kinds of spaces in the future.

To start with the good: the arancini were perfectly passable, and the Sicilian pie was enjoyed by all. I would describe it as more of a Detroit style actually, with a super crispy crust and nice textural contrast. On the other hand, we did not enjoy the seasonal vegetable pie or the nepo pie. I generally really like this sort of no-cheese, umami-heavy pizza, but the nepo was so salty! I'm not sure what specific ingredient was missing, but missing it was. My hopes for a recreation of the rossa pie I enjoyed at Farina prior to their closure were dashed. As for the vegetable pie, the vegetables tasted like the frozen veggies one might find in what was once marketed as a "TV dinner". It was a shame, since the sauce of the white pie was otherwise pretty good.

Located at 309 West 50th Street in New York City's Hell's Kitchen neighborhood, the casual eatery has an extensive list of pizzas. Don Antonio has over 30 types of Neapolitan pizzas, and the menu is a little bit daunting at first due to so many options, but even the pickiest eater will find something they'll want to eat. To top that off, Caporuscio recently debuted a brand new pizza tasting menu that features a curated lineup of never-before-seen pizza napoletana, and seven varieties of pizza fritta (fried pizza). Personally prefer the margarita as it seems to be a more well-rounded pizza and the tomato just can't be missed. It was pretty packed inside when we got there and took the bar seating, so would probably recommend a reservation for larger parties (2+) on evenings. Definitely one of my top neopolitan pizza spots in NYC!

Do people not realize that putting a bar near a door on a freezing cold night benefits no one? Good thing I did not order alcohol or I would have froze to death. Seriously, none of the pies stood out in grand memory. All I can think of is, well, nothing. Nothing positive anyway. The names of the pies are funny, and the staff is friendly, but besides that, the quality of the food for lack of a better word, dare I say it, sucks. Hoping to salvage the meal, I ordered their Chicken Parmesan. It was the Hail Mary pass that unfortunately did not connect. The cutlets are overcooked and dry, and the red sauce cooked with it has minimal tomato flavor. At least the spaghetti is cooked to a nice al dente and mellow garlic butter flavor, but like the sauce cooked in, it is also minimal. Part of the problem I feel is they are trying to go for a vibe that has a New York and modern feel. It does not work. Stay true to one or the other. Or at least look at other business models. I will use another pizzeria in Bushwick that exemplifies it perfectly. It is a hipster pizzeria in a hipster neighborhood. Through balance, it creates an ambiance both welcoming and warm without losing any of its Bushwick character. It does this by not beating you over the head with hipster vibes, just enough to let you know that you are in Bushwick. The band Franz Ferdinand was playing as I was wrapping up. Rather than take the pizza out, I suggest you throw it out. Overall pizza rating: 1.7/5

The first thing you notice is the main bar wall, with its exposed centuries-old brick that has survived every bit of chaos this city could throw at it. It's subtly backlit from with a warm, amber glow that highlights every single historic groove and imperfection, making the whole room look like it's breathing. I have to say the centerpiece of the entire narrow room is the bar itself, and let me tell you, it is an absolute stunner of a contrast. Instead of the usual dark, sticky tavern wood, they've dropped in a long, continuous slab of pristine, elegantly smooth white stone. It glows under the soft lighting like a block of polished marble. There are no strobe lights and no obnoxious, skull-rattling bass in this joint. Instead, the room is wrapped in a blanket of incredibly chill music that matches the pulse of the room perfectly. It's just loud enough to drown out the noise in your own head, but quiet enough that you don't have to scream over the smooth white counter to be heard. People aren't here to be seen on TikTok; they're here to disappear for an hour or three. You slide into a chair, order a proper Old Fashioned from a bartender who doesn't rush the pour, and watch the ice melt against the amber-lit brick. It's the ultimate underground exhale--a perfect, narrow slice of peace in a city that never shuts up. Cheers!
