Went here tonight for thanksgiving dinner with my two sons. There were plenty of booths available by the windows, but the hostess told us they were reserved. I called the day before and was told they did not take reservations. They put us down in the basement. It looked like a cafeteria/college bar and they served our beverages in plastic cups. There were so many tv's we couldn't even hold a conversation. Tried to make the best of it, but it wasn't a great thanksgiving. As we were leaving all the booths upstairs were filled with families. The service was good, but the onion soup was not hot and way too salty to eat. The bread in the onion soup filled the whole dish and was not toasted. My son's seafood fettuccine had sand in the scallops. The bill was over 120.00 and when you add on tip and parking on a game night it cost me over 200.00. It was pretty over the top for a single mom and I will never splurge there again. read more

We are here all 3 nights of our Seattle stay. The kitchen is open to large comfortable bar chairs. The staff was so friendly and watching the kitchen was its own entertainment. Chef Mike was welcoming and an outstanding chef! The food was wonderful and the service even better. Highly recommend!! read more

I am only giving two stars because I didn't actually try any of the food. I had an hour + wait until the Amtrak train and wanted to get some drinks so we found this place while walking up. Seeing that there was literally at least 60% open seating, we waited to talk to the hostess. After she talked to a couple for literally 20 minutes who ended up leaving and going somewhere else to eat she finally talked to us... with a ton of open seating, she tells us that it's Going to be a 5 minute wait and she wanted to put us on a waitlist and when I asked if we could just go the bar for happy hour bc we needed to catch the train she replies super rudely that There's no happy hour during game days (which like whatever because I'm not from here fair enough I don't know the game schedules) then tells us she's gonna text us and now We are on the train heading home and no text. Mediocre food, sparse menu, so-so customer service. I've been here a few times mainly out of convenience as they are open for more hours than most restaurants. Of all the menu items I've tried, all have lacked flavor. The fries are over fried, the sandwiches need some sort of sauce, and the chicken is dry. The customer service could use a refresher on basics. Robotically going through the motions... I get the staff are likely over worked and stressed right now though so I'll cut them some slack. read more

I don't know what's changed besides the location, but last night was my first and last visit to 13 Coins following its relocation to S King St. Two stars instead of one because the service staff remained cordial in the face of our disbelief (and they aren't responsible for the quality of what's coming out of the kitchen). French onion soup was a liquefied salt lick. This went back immediately with a request not to bring us a replacement. Simply inedible. The waitress thanked us for the heads up, and said the kitchen was tasting it - they'd made a large vat (the reason we didn't want a replacement). We saw several more bowls being served, so the kitchen must have concluded they'd gotten it right. The fetuccini alfredo was unlike any I'd seen before. Beige in color - not sure what was in there to cause that - and had that "I've been under the heat lamp a bit too long look". Clams in a thin pesto was the best part of the meal, and the lobster mac was decent. Maybe they're a seafood place now. Perhaps they just don't handle crowds well (the Sounders game had just ended - another reason to give the wait staff a pass). Whatever the reason, 13 Coins was a massive disappointment compared to previous visits to their original location. I'm thinking new ownership keeping the brand, but not the experience, alive. read more

Fantastic restaurant near the stadiums! Right on the edge of Pioneer square, this is a great new local for a old time Seattle favorite. The newer location is swanky and really highlights what we already knew about the food - that this is a quality restaurant. We had the Fried Ravioli, coconut prawns, and crispy Brussels and all were great. They have free validated prking in the adjacent parking garage. A great place any time, but ai have no doubts it will be packed on game days. read more

Found this place by accident. So glad we did though! We ended up eating here two days in a row for breakfast. It's possibly the best brunch we have ever had. I recommend sitting downstairs. It's quieter because upstairs you have an open kitchen and see/hear everything and it puts off a little heat. The establishment is very well kept, staff is friendly, and service is quick. I haven't been in the Sea Tac 13 Coins for a couple years, and my recent experience there was more than disappointing. They used to have generous portions and high quality meals, but the crap I had shouldn't have been fed to jail prisoners. I was invited by a relative to dinner there. Seeing the prices, I went for the French Dip and fries but he encouraged me to order from among the much higher priced items, so I went ahead and ordered Filet Mignon with hashbrowns. Huge mistake! First off -- no soup or salad, no sides of bread. Then the entree: a 3 inch in diameter piece of meat, cold and lumpy and sparse hashbrowns from the box sand no veg! The meat was okay, but the meal being so sparse was done in minutes. That order was over FIFTY bucks. Whoever bought the place is insane, and spiraling toward a quick closure. read more

I had the option to eat in the restaurant however it was really smoky. It was so smoky the hotel attached lobby was smoky as well from a grease fire or something. My wife and I had dinner at 13 Coins and unfortunately we were very disappointed with our food. We ordered the wings for an ap and although eatable, it was the only memorable food of the night. We split a Caesar salad and it the dressing had very little flavor and no crouton. My wife has Chicken Fettuccini Alfredo and it was inedible. The noodles appeared to have sat under the hot lights at the pass while they overcooked my medium rare $53 Rib Eye. For $53, a Rib Eye should be outstanding. I have had better budget grocery store rib eyes, and they cooked it medium well. The only decent thing was the Kentucky Calling cocktail I had. Save your hard earned money and Uber to the Brooklyn for Dinner. Same vibe, much different food experience. read more

We saw a great show in their downstairs lounge by Groove Kitchen for New Year's Eve. The space is roomy and inviting. Although we only had dessert, the menu had a lot of tempting offerings. So I'm going to write this review as I go because it hasn't been the best experience. This is the first restaurant I'm visiting here in Seattle. I wasn't seated until I inched to the host that I'd been waiting even tho 2 other couples walked in and were seated immediately. It's about 10:30. I walked in at 10. It took 10 minutes for me to get a menu and another 10 for the server to bring me anything to drink. 10 minutes to get my order. She never introduced herself. She just walks up and asked if I was ready to order. So I'm sitting at the bar. The kitchen is an open kitchen. The kitchen staff seems really nice. They at least smiled and asked if I had been helped when they saw me sitting. I like watching them cook. I'll update when food comes out. 1045 food came. Honestly looks great and taste great. Worth the wait. I did ask for a side of bbq and it took a while but the server has sooo many other tables so I won't hold that on her. She's trying. All in all. I liked it. The workers were very rude, one of my friends food was sitting for at least 20 minutes before it was even brought to our table. The food had absolutely no flavor whatsoever, prices were too high for the portions. The place is nice interior wise the food and workers though are horrible. Never coming back here AGAIN. We had heard about this restaurant from the person my husband worked with that day and from the guy that worked at the hotel we were staying. We were seated in the bar area to the left right away. There was a waiting list to the right, in the more formal seating area. We were immediately greeted by Phil, one of the three bartenders, initially. All 3 took care of us. They are we're all three friendly and attentive. My husband ordered an old fashioned. I guess it's personal preference, but he likes the muddled fruit to be strained off, not done. They don't have ice whiskey balls or cubes. They had bourbon cherries instead of luxardo. We ordered a prime rib French dip and French fries. The bun had been toasted. But I'm not sure when. It was cold. The meat was barely warm. Almost cold. The French fries were soggy and mushy. I don't know if the kitchen staff was off this night, but no more often than we get to Seattle anyways, there are just too many other choices to go back. read more

Also got the farmers fries (cuz the sauce description was what got me). The fries came out perfectly stacked like logs which was cool ... but the sauce, the sauce is like crack. If you're a sauce person like me then whatever yu order , get some farmer fry sauce on the side; you will not be disappointed. 3 star review for the cheeseburger. I ate here at midnight on Saturday night which is why I gave a 4th star - there aren't other options in Pioneer Square Open late. So the place is beautiful, lots of seating and two levels. The staff was awesome, super kind and very professional. They were playing the Olympics on tv which was also fun to watch this at midnight in a bar. I ordered the normal cheeseburger. And I wouldn't go back for it. It was super plain and totally missing sauce. Like there wasn't any sauce on the burger. The meat was fine but nothing exciting. And it came out on a baguette which was fine but unexpected. There was lettuce and tomato on the side. It also came with a medium sized portion of fries. All of the food was warm but not hot, which sucks for fries too. Basically I would've been happy with the burger for $10 not $15 or however much it costs. Also i asked for extra sauce, they offered chipotle ranch, which would've been good if that sauce was actually on the burger. But it wasn't spicy so I'm not sure if it was actually chipotle ranch or just normal ranch. Either way, the sauces could be much ------------------- So update: went again with a group for late night food. We talked to the server only 3 times, to take the order, deliver food and pay. I specifically asked for sauce for the burger and fries since last time there it was minuscule. There was never sauce delivered, and never an opportunity to ask for it. Everything took forever. Our water glasses never got refilled. Everyone (6) was super disappointed with the food too. I ordered the waygu burger to split, and it literally tasted like a frozen Costco patty. This was by far the worst meal I've had in a very long time. To say I'm disappointed is an understatement. Everything from the service to the food left me feeling more frustrated than ever. I met up with some former colleagues for lunch, there were about 12 of us, so a big group for sure. We all placed our orders and waited. The drinks arrived in 10 mins or so, and we continued waiting. Not once has our server came to check up on us to refill our sodas and water. Okay that's fine, whatever. Our server was behind the bar making drinks, chatting with other customers, and ran up and down the stairs for about 50 minutes, until we finally stopped him and asked about the progress of our food. Another large group behind us had gotten their food well ahead of us and we placed our orders around the same time. Our server apologized and he rushed back to the kitchen to "take a look", at which point we had someone leave our group because the wait time was simply too long and we had to get back to our offices. After another couple of minutes, our server came back out, and we found that he did not disclose to us about ingredients in one of our orders, and made an excuse that the sandwich was premade and they cannot take out the ham. I'm not sure why a premade sandwich takes over an hour to get from the grill to our table. We asked to cancel the sandwich and he admitted his fault, but told us to pick something on the menu that was faster to prepare. I asked for my eggs benedict to-go, and apparently my server did not listen because my meal came out on a plate anyways. Two of our panini orders ended up being "warm" and still cold in the center, and we still did not get our drinks refilled. I get that shit happens and orders can be missed. But this is completely unacceptable. We were neglected by our server multiple times, and the food took well over an hour to arrive, only for it to still be cold. They messily dumped my eggs benedict in a to-go box, so I essentially paid $20 for soggy bread, goopy hollandaise sauce, mushy hash brown, and cold eggs.
