I ordered the #1 burger with curly fries, no beverage. The food was ok but after getting my check for $44 it stopped me from ever wanting to return. The burger was $21 on the menu but they charged $26. This is basically an old diner cafe that has been updated (and open late hours, I believe). This is a burger bar. So naturally they serve burgers, sandwiches, some starters, shakes, beers, & cocktails. I believe they also have some breakfast items in the morning hours. The burgers were extremely good! It was also confusing- at the top of the ticket, it said "Service fee included" (at first I thought this meant the tip was included) but then there was a space for gratuity. So, on what should the tip be calculated? 20% of the subtotal? 20% of the total, including the service fee? 25 Degrees should raise their prices on each item by 18%--at least that way customers know what they will be paying. Dinner here wasn't planned but I found myself in Hollywood and this was the closest place that didn't look super touristy. Big mistake! I had the LA Street Dog on a Thursday night and still, on Monday afternoon I am feeling sick to my stomach. Needing a hearty lunch, I dropped in around 2PM, and it was not crowded at all. The bartender doubled as a server, but he was very nice and there was no delay in the food arriving. I had the "No. 1" burger at $19.00...it definitely filled me up and was pretty delicious with carmelized onions, mozzarella and gorgonzola cheeses, bacon and thousand island dressing (I held the arugula). The thousand island had me thinking of In-N-Out, but that's where the comparison ended. The perfectly cooked sirloin patty was a Beast! For a trip down nostalgia lane, I washed the burger down with a Black Cow, which I hadn't had in years and was very good. The atmosphere was pretty chill, the interior sharing the older classic lines of the hotel itself. The only thing that weirded me out was a kinda sketchy, vagrant(ish) dude came into the bar off the street , bought a glass of wine with a huge amount of change, and proceeded to have a loud, nonsensical conversation with an imaginary person on the imaginary phone in his hand. 2021- 25 degree's fall from grace. I was absolutely in love with 25 degrees in the prior years, unfortunately all good things come to an end. This is my second visit to 25 degrees within the last 4 months. I visited a few months ago when outdoor seating was in place and only mobile device ordering was in place. It was a disaster. The servers were rude, slow and cold. Our order was wrong, they would not check in on us. We had no silverware, and our beverages would go dry. The ordering app also in life's a mandatory 20 percent gratuity. For what?! Lmfao. I was so disappointed in the service and the quality of the food. I decided to make another visit on 7/6. The indoor dining was now open. I was hoping for the classic 25 degree experience. Great staff, amazing food and fun atmosphere. Instead.... Received a cold greeting. The host stood behind the bar and mumbled something. I asked him if it was self seating? He just pointed to the table where I can have a seat. Was sitting for about 10 minutes, without any contact from the host. I kept looking over his way to get his attention but he was too busy caught up in conversation and giggles with the other worker. Finally I scanned the sticker on the table for a menu, he eventually comes up to us and we ask if we can order within instead of on the app. The interior of 25 degrees now looks weathered. The leather is cracking, the floors are dirty and sticky. It gave an overall feeling of yuck. I tried to order my usual Guinness shake only to learn they not longer make signature drinks according to the server. Our food finally arrived , and it was lackluster. Not what a burger from 25 degrees used to be. It was drier than a Popeyes biscuit. Seriously. The bun was cold and hard. It was not warm, moist and crispy on the outside anymore. I don't think the bun was even warmed. The fries were cold and had soooo much salt on them. We couldn't even eat them. The server did not come to check on us once, until we requested the bill and took off like a bat out of hell. $60 for 2 dry ass burgers that were over cooked, on a stale bun & salt crusted fries. I can forgive the food, and give them another chance... mistakes happen... maybe my last two visits were just bad... but bad customer service. I cannot forgive. I won't come back. I felt I welcomed, unappreciated and felt I was being treated as a burden. Sigh..... Great little place! We stopped in here before attending a concert at the nearby Hollywood Bowl. The restaurant provides you with a welcome break from the hot chaos outside, with a unique interior (like a classic diner, but more goth!) and super helpful/friendly staff members. The food was very satisfying, for me. I enjoyed the Caesar salad (half size) and their truffle fries are awesome! You also get a good amount of fries with one order so sharing between two people is definitely doable. My boyfriend ordered a make-your-own burger and said it was "just like any other burger I've ordered elsewhere, but it cost me $20." (He's a cynic, soooo...) We also got a chocolate and a vanilla milkshake, though I was tempted to order one of their alcoholic varieties! The only real issue with this place is the pricing. Service here on my last few visits has been non-existent. Where are the guys who are in these photos that customers seem to like? Obviously they've been off the days I'm there, especially my last visit. 18% automatic gratuity has been implemented. I guess in their case, rightfully so because they don't deserve any more than that. I had a specific way I wanted the burger, and I asked for it to be cut in 1/2 (not a huge deal) so I could tell the meat was prepared properly. When I received the order, of course it wasn't cut. Dick (not his real name) said, 'there is a knife there in front of you.' Keep in mind this was a plastic takeaway knife, not a regular knife or a hefty knife that would be good for cutting, which there are plenty within their kitchen. I told him this and he sighed, asking the chefs behind the window to 1/2 it. Apparently, you didn't listen to my simple request. I'm thinking these people act the way they do since they do cater to a lot of tourists, who won't be back, so they simply don't give a damn. Gives us locals a reason to go elsewhere.
