Came here for some Ramen to celebrate Father's Day a little bit early. I have to say this place is pretty small and cozy, but the quality of food is amazing. I had the jiro with normal noodles. We also ordered the black garlic ramen, tongotsu, shrimp stir fry, pork stir fry, spicy garlic edamame and spring rolls. Super delicious. Worth giving this place a shot. The team of staff was two people which included the cook in the back and the server. They did great work at attending to us. It is small and not good for big party's.
Came here with the family to try the ramen since this is one of the ramen places in Elk Grove that we haven't gone to. Unfortunately, it was just not for us. We ordered the black garlic ramen, tang tang ramen and the beef don. Oddly they have different noodle type but the server didn't ask what noodle type we wanted. So it's a good thing I told the server I wanted thin noodles else they would default to normal. The black garlic ramen was really bland and tasted like unseasoned pork water. The chasu and noodle was decent in texture but that's about it. The tang tang was the same as well, bland and not spicy. For this we ordered with no green onion but it came with it still. The server noticed it when they brought the ramen over and asked us if it was okay, then kinda just went back and scooped it out right behind the bar, not even in the kitchen lol. The beef don was okay at the least and had decent flavor. It comes with the marinated egg which I think is a plus. The place was pretty dead on a weekday near dinner time, we were the only ones sitting inside with a couple door dashers coming in.
Interesting Japanese/Chinese hybrid ramen shop right off of Hwy 99. The Black Garlic Ramen doesn't have the typical creamy consistency of classic tonkotsu broth, but it offers the same boldness in flavor. The bamboo shoots and black fungus were such a nice touch! It reminds me of ingredients my mom puts in her own noodle soups. Lastly, the noodles had a nice soft texture to them. Bonus points for the peaceful ambiance, clean interior, and medium-volume indie music. It saddened me to only see 2 other tables occupied on a Saturday night. This place deserves so much more recognition.
Came back twice to order the same ramen: tang tang. The spice was just perfect for me! Theres a little heat in the back of your throat, so just be careful. It had me coughing a few times. But that's when you know it's good. The egg was cooked perfectly with the right amount of softness in the middle. And I also loved the texture of the ramen, firm and not overcooked. I detest soft and mushy noodles!
Always hesitant to try new ramen places, 8 Hour Ramen pleasantly surprised me. I had the Black Garlic Ramen. The chashu was very flavorful and they provided a good number of toppings. The broth, noodles, and toppings were all excellent. Just as a note, the broth was quite heavy in fat-content. Overall, good service. For a relatively low amount of tables, the waitress took an incredibly long time to check-in and to deliver the check. I don't know of any good ramen places nearby, so this is a nice option in Elk Grove.
We wanted some sort of noodle soup so we decided to give this place a try. They were having a buy one get the 2nd ramen 50% off. We were immediately greeted. After we sat down, the service started to lack. It took them a while to come take our order. We order fried oysters, tonkatsu ramen and black garlic ramen. It took 20 minutes for our food to come out. I felt the broth was not hot enough. It was a bit too salty as well. Portion was average.
This place was recommended by a friend of mine and I decided to take myself out on a me date and try this place! I ate here around 2pm on a thursday and it was very slow and relaxing. I enjoyed their interior design as well as their music. It really set the vibe and perfect for eating ramen. I ordered their Spicy Miso Ramen, choosing pork soup base and chashu with my choice of noodle being the normal type. It came out pretty quickly like 5-10 minutes. It was delicious and i enjoyed eating there. I also enjoyed the staff they were so kind and patient :)
Went here after school with my daughter for dinner. We got the kid size tonkatsu ramen and the gyudon. She got to taste the food first, official food taster and all. She really liked both! The ramen broth had a very nice flavor to it, and its such a little thing, but the bamboo shoots were fresh and tasty. The beef bowl was yummy too! We'll come back for certain, and bring the hubby. The young lady at the front of shop was very sweet and very hard working.
Black Garlic Oil Ramen It comes with chashu, bamboo shoots, black fungus, egg, green onion, and a rich pork soup base that's simmered for 8 hours daily. A bit oily for me (likely from the black garlic oil) but still a good ramen Chicken Katsu Purple Rice Wrap It contains crispy fried chicken, pork floss, crunchy dough, corn, pickled radish, cucumber, and lettuce all wrapped in nutritious purple rice. Really enjoyed this one! It is healthier yet filling.
Amazing! The ramen is DELICIOUS & authentic! The presentation is great and I love the small details of the bowls and trays I ordered the Jiro ramen which is considered "crazy spicy" the level was perfect for someone who enjoys spicy food and I also added some chili oil sauce that they offer on every table and it made it EXTRA yummy! 10/10 and highly recommend! Service was friendly, and the location is super cute!!
I was excited to try this place since they offer thick noodles and ability to choose "hard" cooked. Interior was really welcoming and cute too. We tried 2 different ramens (Jiro and Yokohama) and some potstickers (beef bc they were out of pork and cabbage at the time) but everything was very underwhelming. I usually think a lot of food is too salty but in this case everything seemed under-salted. I wasn't getting much flavor from the broth either. The potsticker filling tasted off to me. And.... let's just say my stomach was NOT happy some hours after. But my partner felt fine so maybe it's just my weak stomach. I don't mind giving it another try but only after they've had a chance to settle in. read more
Ordered the Yokohama ramen and the pork cabbage pan fried dumplings for take out. Recommend heating the soup once you get home if you want the soup really hot. Yokohama comes with chicken, pork, bamboo, egg, and spinach. Very tasty and the highlight is the porky flavor broth. It is not oily so you will need to get something else probably the tonkotsu. The dumplings were soft and they provide a nice sauce to go with it. Overall will return to test the other ramen and the chicken karaage. read more
We visited 8 Hours Ramen for weekday lunch during their soft opening. The inside is cute with cat banners along the wall with a modern interior. We ordered the Black Garlic ramen and Yokohama ramen. Personally, we found the black garlic to be very salty and overall not very good. The Yokohama ramen was a bit better but the chicken-based broth was lacking in flavor. My favorite part of the bowl wasn't the noodles or meat but rather the bamboo shoots. I liked how the menu offered personalization of the noodle thickness and soup but $18 for a bowl of mid ramen was pretty hard to stomach. read more

Small but cozy inside, (felt a bit crammed tho.) We were seated quickly and ordered a little while after. Food did took a bit long to come out as there was only 2 persons working (1 servicing out & 1 in kitchen) and there's like 4 tables full waiting for food. All ramen were customizable I loved that especially with kids not liking some toppings and were able to replaced it with something else. And different noodle options rather than just the usual ramen noodle. The eggs were PERFECT! TASTY!!! Unlike some other places. The broths were tasty. We tried the Tonkotsu, Yokohama, & Jiro. Out of the 3, Tonkotsu broth had the most flavor. Noodles were a bit chewy like Al dente which we like because who wants soft soggy-ish noodles. Overall the ramen soups were great. We'll be back to try some appetizers next time since we didn't get to try any. I'll try their spicy miso next time as that's my to-go broth I order at almost every ramen place. read more
Second time coming to this restaurant and I do prefer my noodles 1.5x. The soup had more flavor compared to the first time I came and ordered 1x. The karage and squid were really good. The batter wasn't too heavy so I would recommend either of those as appetizers. I've tasted four of their broths: jiro, Yokohama, chicken white and black garlic and think they all taste great. My only issue is the broth usually comes out hot-warm ish and by the time I'm midway through my noodles it's lukewarm. read more

I'm personally not a ramen or soup fan, but this has been the best Ramen I have had in my life!! The broth was so flavorful and satisfying! Let's not forget about the homemade lemonade! I seriously wanted to buy a whole pitcher! The service was 10/10, everyone was so nice and attentive! I will definitely come back again, even if it's just for the lemonade! It's worth it ! read more
This place is awesome! I stopped in for lunch and man is this place good! I got two starters and a bowl of the Black Garlic Ramen with extra chashu and an extra egg! Everything was fresh hot and delicious! I got the croquettes and soft shelled crab for my starters, the croquettes were crispy on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside, and the gravy/sauce theyre served with was really good! The soft shelled crab was delicious and the togarashi mayo they served with it paired very well, I added chili oil to them for an extra kick and it was fire! The ramen is some of the best ramen ive had in a long time! The black garlic oil with the pork broth was a flavor bomb! The chashu was tender and flavorful, the eggs were soft boiled to perfection, creamy and delicious! The service was excellent and definitely makes me want to come back. The interior is cozy, with cute lucky cat artwork on the walls and good music. I will 100% be coming back this is my new favorite ramen spot in Elk grove! read more

While the ramen wasn't quite my style being that it's more mild and delicate compared to the bold, punchy flavors of places like Ramen Nagi which I favor, it's clear they're focused on quality and care. For those who prefer a lighter take on ramen, it could be a great fit. It's a small shop with potential, and I look forward to seeing how they grow. read more
Stumbled across 8 Hours Ramen while in the area and realized that it was fairly new and wanted to give it a try. The location is fairly large with a good amount of seating and luckily it was not as busy so we were able to get seating immediately (we went on a Sunday at 3pm). The menu is not overly filled with options but has a good variety of items to choose from. We ordered the Spicy Miso along with an order of gyoza's. The service was good and the food came out quickly. The location is very clean and they have a large bathroom in the back available to use as well. I look forward to going back soon. read more

Love places that are near my house & 8 hrs Ramen popped up today. This Ramen spot is one of the newest to open on EG Blvd. Before coming, I've read good reviews so we made that hike of 3 miles from the house....long trip! It's a remake of another Chinese restaurant that didn't last long. Interior is small but cozy with about (5-6 booths , 3-4 tables). Menu had their own unique Ramen names, we opted for the Yokohama Ramen, veggie Miso: Both were tasty with rich broth, toppings were good but the size of the Bowl was on the smaller size for $18/Yokohama Ramen Overall, I would come back but not as the first choice. I was craving ramen so my husband and I came here. The decor is really cute inside. There are cats dressed in kimonos on the walls. The dishes are also cute because they have little blowfish or puffer fish on them. We were seated right away. There was no wait. The service is efficient. The waitress was really quiet and reserved but maybe that's a cultural thing. Not a problem. I ordered tonkatsu and it was comforting. The broth was perfect. It had flavor. No need to add anything to it. We got takowasabi as an appetizer and it was delicious and potent. I love that they have takowasabi! I would definitely come back here. read more

We ordered: Ramen -Black Garlic Ramen 4/5 *Flavorful with a satisfying amount of thick cuts of pork. Happy with all the other toppings as well. -Shrimp Paste Ramen 3/5 *Got the kid size for this. Shrimp was slightly overcooked but overall enjoyed the broth, not overly salty, balanced flavors. *ordered both of the above with normal noodles - a bit on the firmer side compared to other ramen noodles I've had (personally I would have liked them to be chewier). Appetizers -Croquettes 3/5 *Crispy exterior, very soft and almost like a mashed potato on the inside. Each croquette was moderately sized. Not stand out but did enjoy. -Fried Oysters 3.5/5 *Batter to oyster ratio was nice (batter did not overwhelm the oyster). Juicy, tasted fresh (not fishy) with a crunchy exterior. Oysters can be expensive - these were on the lower price range compared to other places I've been to believe it or not. Ambiance/Design 3.5/5 *Quite a small space with a casual, homely vibe and traditional touches accentuated by the wooden furniture and cute tapestries along the walls of cats in traditional clothing. Service 5/5 *Despite being the only worker at the time serving multiple customers, she was very attentive and courteous. Very timely and consistent with offering water (seems basic but seriously not all places do this, and to reiterate she was the only one serving). Pulled down the blinds for us when she noticed the sun was shining in our eyes where we were seated. She went above and beyond as well, giving us plates to serve the bday cake we brought without us even having asked yet, then also asked if we would like a knife and lighter for the candles! Expectation: Another Elk Grove ramen shop Reality: A very pleasant surprise! This place is solid. The defining factor: clean-tasting broth. The broth really stuck out for us with a light flavor and not heavy but still hits with all the right flavors. Yokohama definitely one of the more popular chosen options and the slow cooked chicken was a wild surprise. At first look no way a cooked chicken breast can be that good. Wow was I wrong it was so tender and had so much flavor I wish I got more of that chicken. Jiro was pretty solid. Chashu wasn't as tender as I hoped, but the flavor and clean-tasting broth well made up for it. Chicken corn pot stickers were also pretty bomb it just took awhile for them to come out. Love the aesthetic inside and really hoping this place can break the curse of the many businesses that have come and gone in this particular location. read more

amazing ramen! the service was fairly quick and if you come during lunch time there is a deal for a ramen bowl and a side for under $15. i got the spicy miso ramen with a side of gyoza and it was really good! the broth is amazing, i also tried my friends tonkotsu ramen which was really flavorful! the inside has limited seating but we went when it wasn't busy so we got to sit down quickly! overall, amazing restaurant with kind workers, quick service, and amazing/tasty food. read more

Just tried 8 Hours Ramen today, and the food was so delicious! I have tried many ramen places here in Elk Grove, but the food quality and service here is unmatched. The place is clean, and well decorated! The music playing was a vibe and added to my experience! I will definitely come again. read more
My goal in Elk Grove is to find the best Ramen shop here and 8 hr is a fairly new location. As I walked in, there was a decent amount of seating, both for big parties and individuals. The menu is sized well, and the prices aren't too bad! The chicken karrage had plentiful of food for $6, which is steal. The ramen was decent. Porky broth with a lot of chashu. I felt like the bowl didn't give enough "umph." It just felt normal. It was stated to be black garlic but I barely saw any of that inside, so I was a bit let down. Pricing for the foods makes up for it. I don't think you can get decent priced ramen like 8hr. read more

The staff is patient and friendly. There was one server but the wait time was pretty good. The food was great. We came in bigger group and some customers gave up their table to accommodate us. Loved the spicy miso ramen' with chicken base and chicken. I like that they have a chicken option. They have a kids option which is still a good sized portion. The new owner remodeled the interior & it's really nice & has a Japanese feel. Even the utensils have their own logo. Service was good. Review on our order: Fried squid legs - not made from scratch. They ordered pre-made & fried upon order. Very oily Broth for both Yokohama & Jiro was ok. The chicken slices were tender but a bit too big. I have to give them credit for the effort of making the broth, unfortunately it's still missing the "Essence" of Japanese ramen broth. As if it's missing something in there. We didn't finish the broth like we usually do with other places. One may ask if it tastes bland, I will say no. Adding salt will not make the difference. I am giving them a star for their effort! Amazing customer service! The lady serving us was an absolute gem! She was extremely sweet and moved us to a better table after it was less busy. Went in on a Monday night, service was super nice! It's a cozy place with cute decors. Menu is simple but also has a good variety of appetizers. We got the black garlic ramen, jiro ramen, fried oysters, and beef potstickers. The oysters were golden cripsy, potstickers were nice. Black garlic ramen is yummy. Jiro ramen is so flavorful with raw garlic and a mountain of bean sprouts which i love! Will definitely be back for the jiro ramen! read more

The service was very good. The young lady was extremely nice and helpful. She constantly refilled her waters and checked on us. The ambience in the place looked really nice, although the location is pretty small, but it made it feel more intimate... Now for the food. I will start off with the shrimp tempura, which was excellent And also chicken karaage!! Was amazing. Next we tried the Tonkotsu ramen .. the pork was good Broth seem to be lacking a little flavor, but overall not too bad, The egg wasn't the best, but it also wasn't bad either ... Now the noodles were special to me, because this is the first Ramen place I go to where the noodles are made in the house, so they are super fresh. You can taste a homemade flavor, and that also goes for the breading on the. Chicken Karaage as well. No finally for my own personal bowl. The crazy spicy it literally lives up to its name had me sweating, This might just be a warm up for some people, but it definitely was a bit spicy, but it's still had some good flavor in it, so just be careful when you order this Ha ha Because your mouth will be on fire read more

8 Hours Ramen House is a Japanese restaurant in a busy shopping center. They specializing in unique ramen recipes that tantalize taste and flavor. This round we tried the Yokohama Ramen and Chasu Ramen. Last trip we also had their dumplings and a variety of appetizers along with our ramen. The staff were very friendly with outstanding costumer service from when we first walked in and tend to us regularly. If you're craving a unique dish of recipes this is the spot for you. read more

The ramen tasted very clean And fresh. Pork broth wasnt as rich as some other ramen shops. I ordered the tonkotsu but received the Yokohama. Strange because I was the only one in the restaurant. The staff sincely apologized. The meat was juicy and tender. The fried chicken wad seasoned a bit salty but was cooked very nicely. Overall I would give it another try.
