I contacted this excuse for a company because they showed up as one of the dealers on the york website. I clearly explained I had a problem with my mini-split air handler and needed to have it replaced. They said they will have one of their advisors come out to take a look. So we scheduled an appointment. They night before the appointment, they called to confirm. However, on the morning of the appointment, they called me 30 minutes before they were supposed to come and told me they don't do mini-splits. Are you kidding me? Wasted mine and my tenants time. Had a brand new furnace and heat pump installed in 2014 and the furnace is never worked properly since it was installed.

A-Temp gave a mid range price and did an excellent job. They were not the least expensive yet I am happy with their work. Scheduled me in two days. installed a new furnace in the attic for central Gas heating, removed the nonworking old electrical one, added central air with unit sitting on blocks outside the house, and digital thermostat. Everything works great! First, they spent 12 hours cleaning all the duct work of this fixer upper house. They did not try to UPsell me - which was appreciated - the salesman recommended what he knew would be efficient for this 1350 square foot house. I asked about instaling air cleaner filters and he actually talked me out of it -saying unless I had a serious medical condition - didnt need to spent the extra $800-$900 on it. He didn't want to fill out the rebate form for the NW Gas people claiming that I would need a high end unit to qualify for it even though I was a new natural Gas customer. Not sure he was right (one star deducted for this). Everything works and that is good The new thermostat works great for control of heating and cooling. I can program it, change setting easily, or put it on automatic. Very professional - for installing new furnace and adding central air and new thermostat. The units work wonderfully. The lady who answers the phone is wonderful She was friendly and service oriented too. read more

Wow, where do I start...we had been experiencing intermittent issues with our furnace and called A-Temp on a Saturday to evaluate the situation. They had come out last year to service our furnace, AC, etc. and we had a positive experience thus they were the first call this time around. From the moment the tech got out of the door of his van I should have known we would not be in for a good experience. His demeanor was one of who did not want to be bothered with his job on this particular day. He was brash, short, and proceeded to tell us that the furnace in our 8 year old home is the worst on the market and generally goes out in 6-8 years. Said he works on that brand all the time. I gave him the benefit of the doubt (maybe he's having a bad day) and he determined we had a faulty valve that was causing the issues. He left, ordered the part, and said it would take a day or two to get installed. Okay...Well the part arrived and a new Tech came out to install on Monday. This Tech was friendly but when he tried to install the valve and it was the incorrect one he completely lost his composure. He wasn't rude or anything but was having difficulty calling dispatch or whoever he needed to talk to and resolve the issue. I said okay, is what it is but you and your company need to figure this out and get the correct valve out ASAP. He took off all frazzled and put in the order for the correct valve. It's now Wednesday evening, THE DAY BEFORE THANKSGIVING, and we're on day 5 in a cold house with a sick toddler and family coming up for the holiday. Tech #3 tech arrives with the correct valve, proceeds to install and test it and then tells us the issue is not the valve it's the circuit board! Holy s**t. Of course the Wednesday night before Thanksgiving no suppliers are open and anyone with any pull at A-Temp is in their cozy warm house for the night getting ready for the holiday. Not us! I called to let them know our displeasure and asked them to do what they feel may be the right thing and provide some sort of discount for this subpar service and professionalism. I'm told my complaint would be heard and that someone from management would reach out to me. Well this of course never happened. No discount or apology was received. We finally had the issue resolved 6 days after the tech that was crude and an apparent expert on our furnace mis-diagnosed the problem. I'm no technician but I would think in 2018 these guys have the resources and processes to accurately figure out the issue on the front end, order the correct part, and install and fix. It's not like this was a major project. Overall I feel I'm fair when it comes to mistakes. But from the initial lack professionalism to the lack of empathy from any leaders in this organization to the time it took to fix what seemed to be a fairly easy issue to diagnose...there's no way we would use A-Temp again or refer them to anyone. read more

Had an Issue with older heat pump. I was duped, yes older unit but repairable. Tech came out and for $99.00 service told me not worth repairing and called to have a sales person out to sell me a $5000. new heat pump. Did not even leave me with diagnosis of what was wrong. Husband spent $150. watched a UTube and repaired. Shame on you ATemp you knew that you were sending out a tech to repair a unit over 10 years old, feel like this was a tech willing to take $99.00 for a sales connection. I believe in repairing not replacing sorry your company does not. When my Husband called them the manager said I refused repairs, so service call valid... really? I own three houses in a development with heaters installed by A-temp. I have had two of this heaters go out within the year and a half that they were installed. The first one was covered under the home warranty, but the more recent one was not. A-Temp charged me $99 to come out and "diagnose" the problem and $59 for a warranty processing fee. "A what?" I asked the lady on the line. Yes, it is a fee to have them do the paperwork to process my parts warranty. Ridiculous, but my tenants are without heat and $59 is not a ton of money. Still, it is clearly not a customer-oriented way to do business. Today, when a second person called me to confirm the repair (and get my credit card), he was rude and defense when I mentioned how ridiculous it is to charge me for a warranty processing fee. "How should we recover our costs?" he asked. "Well, " I said, "by providing good service and securing more business for the future." I added, "you have lost money on me, because I won't be doing any more business with you after this point." They deal in multi-thousand dollar furnaces and I am sure make quite a bit on servicing them. They have to charge us for them to do the paperwork? Ridiculous. read more

We purchased a mini-split ductless heat pump from A-Temp in 2015. It has been working well, and we have had them do annual maintenance checks to ensure that it continues to do so. This year we paid the fee and received a reminder to schedule. When I called to do so, I was told that they no longer service this brand of heat pump. We believe that is unethical and the worst possible customer service, particularly since there was no forewarning and only a partial explanation from their scheduler. read more

Technicians are absolutely clueless. My heat furnace was working just fine, but after they serviced it my thermostat just kept restarting. 3 different technicians came to my house and gave different reason why my thermostat was restarting. the last technician came in and told me that I will have to spend around $950 to fix my furnace that was working fine before they messed it up. They refunded me my service fee, but I am sure fixing my furnace now is going to cost me more. Please do not use these guys if you do not want to run into issues. read more

I used these guys for some work on my furnace a couple years back. The guy reset the circuit board and said that it would need to be replaced. The board is still working, so I think I can wait on the replacement. The regular junk mail from them afterwards is a nuisance, but the thing that really bugs me is that I gave them my mobile number to contact me about the appointment. Two years on, I'm getting spam phone calls from them on my mobile phone. Sharing my phone number with you for business purposes is not an invitation to use it to solicit from me. A Temp did a basic tune up / inspection on my gas furnace. They were on time, courteous, efficient, affordable. HIghly recommended.

Polite and on time. Work was completed and repairs done. Problem is their billing structure. $99 to show up- OK; $168 for an average thermostat, installed - very high. Two repairs that they call "stage two" at $262 each- replaced a $37 dollar (retail) transformer and about 30 feet of bell wire ($6.00). So, after all is said and done $777.00. They brag, "We don't charge by the hour". That is code for we have new tech's that are learning the trade so it is irrelevant on the time it takes to complete the task, because we charged you a small fortune up front. They will offer to reduce the charges if you sign up for their monthly service plan for $192.00/year- Great way to keep you locked in to their program- serious rip-off. I over paid by 40% and I will never call A-Temp again. I asked the tech to check the gas pressure on the A/C unit and he said I should pay for the 21-point service (extra $98.00) and took his temp probe to check to see if cool air was exiting the register- my hand told me that. He urged that if I got the service plan that they would check the entire system next year for 1/2 of the service fee. I have a company that will check it today for $75.00 and the $75.00 applies toward any required parts or supplies. Never again. Thanks for this forum read more

I had a great experience with A-Temp. My sales rep John was very informative and wasn't pushy at all. He gave me several different options as to what gas furnace I was going to be getting. Installation was great experience as well the two installers Jairo and Clark did a great job and were on time. Everything was done in a timely manner. Because it was winter season it did take a couple weeks for the actual install date but it's because they've got to wait for the necessary permits and such to go through. Not to mention winter is a busy time for everyone needing heat! I would recommend them to friends and family. Pricing wasn't bad either. Average pricing. I got quoted by a couple of other companies and they were either way too spendy or super cheap which made me weary. Great overall experience ! read more

DO NOT USE THEM. I used A-Temp for service on my AC unit yesterday. I called to schedule a service call and ask for what I could expect in charges. The representative on the phone told me there would be a $129 service call plus parts. When I was given the invoice it was for the $129 plus another service charge to include the replacement of Contactor part for $358 for a total of $487. Technician was here less than 1 hour. This is outrageous and when I called to comment I was told that there was nothing they could do. It is what it is. The supervisor Gracie was less than understanding. I've been in the service business. Servicing Dental Equipment and we never had such outlandish billing practices. I REPEAT DO NOT USE A-TEMP UNLESS YOU WANT TO GET RIPPED OFF. read more

I've used A-Temp heating for the last several years. They've repaired my old furnace a a couple times. Once, the tech was having trouble with a motor and fan. My furnace was so old, it was rusted and the fan & motor was going to need to be taken back to the shop. Being a shade tree mechanic, I had enough tools (mainly an Oxy-acetylene torch) and other stuff so he could repair the furnace. They even took off a few dollars for my assistance. Anyway, fast forward to a few days ago when I needed my furnace serviced. (It had been 5 years) My furnace was 22 years old!! The tech found a large crack in one of the heat exchangers. He used a scope to show me exactly where it was and the severity. So the cost was dropped to $99 which was applied to my new furnace. Joel (salesman) came out that day and we agreed to a new unit. Was not pressured into a higher priced unit or anything. Our furnace was installed on Tuesday. The install crew was remarkable. The old unit was out and the new unit was in by 2:00. They went over everything with me and answered all my questions. I definitely recommend A-Temp. read more

We are on a year maintenance contract, the office calls to schedule the appointment, you don't have to remember to schedule the visit, so nice. Our heater was acting up, and as first time home owners, getting your furnace serviced can be a very intimidating call to make. The technician, Travis, not only showed up promptly on time, but was also extremely friendly, informative, and great service! Our furnace was almost 20 years old and needing to be replaced, but we were given several options, and didn't feel any pressure to get anything that we didn't need. He had the problem figured out within a couple of minutes, and while it might only be a temporary fix to get us through until we purchase the new furnace, our heat was back in working condition very quickly. Overall, a great first experience, and we'll definitely be using them for all of our heating/cooling needs! read more

I had originally called A-Temp simply because they came up first on Google. That being said, I won't do that again. I was given the "spiel" on what the high price of cleaning my ducts with them gave me. It started at 540.00 which was quite a bit higher than other companies for the same service. I made an appointment thinking I would get more for my money. I was given an appointment which during the conversation with the scheduler had been taken by someone else so I had to wait over a month for my appointment. The time? 12-2pm. He showed up at 2. I was told I needed soot sealer, another expensive "need" due to the age of my home and that it must have had oil at one time.... The price without the soot sealer however went from 540.00 to 700.00. The technician wanted to charge me for 3 vents which had 3 inches of duct between 1 wall. That's right 100.00 extra for 3 inches!!! The soot sealer was extra of course. I felt slimed. My husband is in HVAC, commercial mind you, and doesn't clean ducts, but he does know about these things. It was confirmed by 3 other companies that soot sealer isn't needed unless you've had a fire and the smell is bad. I called Better Air NW. Price? 375.00. They use all the same equipment and fog for allergens and dust mites. Soot sealer? They said it wasn't necessary. Be careful with this company if you have better things to spend your money on. read more

I recently decided to have air conditioning put in to my home and did what we all should do by scheduling HVAC companies (3 A+ BBB companies to be exact) to provide estimates. The first company to come out was A-TEMP. The estimator bragged repeatedly about the company's commitment to their "profile." He was very clear, even proud, that all employees worked for A-TEMP (no subcontractors) and as he explained, all were employed by A-TEMP following background checks and regular drug testing. He proudly pointed out his employees were licensed and 'certainly not in my home to scout my property, so you can feel safe.' What sold me was I'd have ONE company, one set of contractors, in and out of my home on my install day. As a single mom, knowing I could trust these contractors swarming my home on my install day was important to me. On install day, two men knock on my front door and begin prepping the area for modifications. These two installers were great; they worked hard on my job and were very respectful of my home, my space, and my family. It was about an hour and a half into the install when a third man (the licensed electrician, named Paul) showed up on my property. He entered my home through the back door, without knocking, and proceeded to stand in my dining room calling for my attention, "Miss. Miss. Miss. I'm the electrician. Can I go downstairs?" I was a bit taken aback as I'm certain he must know my name; it's on the contract after all. Besides, why didn't he knock at the front door? About ten minutes later I follow him downstairs; I knew finding room in my electrical panel was going to be a challenge so I wanted to hear his plan. He chats with me for a bit about the one option he might be able to make work. It's at this moment I smell something a bit off. I back away thinking maybe it's low-end, cheap cologne? About a half hour later, he makes his way upstairs (on his way outside to his truck) where I am standing doing dishes. I ask him if he can make it work and offer him a cup of coffee (I'd done the same for the other two employees). He chats with me about coffee, etc. and as I make my way past him he puts his hand on my bare back making my skin crawl. A little bit later, he comes upstairs to explain he accidently threw the breaker to my basement area when I smell it again and this time I'm certain it isn't cologne. It's ALCOHOL. I realize immediately I have an electrician, working on my electrical panel, hitting the bottle between stints in my driveway, and I do NOT feel safe. I called A-TEMP and demanded they get him off of my property. It took about 45 minutes to an hour for a third vehicle with 2 men inside to pull up. (In the meantime, this drunk is working on my panel and I'm so nervous but much too uncomfortable to ask him myself to step away; I don't feel safe and definitely do not want a confrontation with him). One of the men begins talking with the electrician in my driveway. The second guy aimlessly walks up and down my driveway, as if he wasn't sure what to do or where to go, etc. I'm expecting him to knock on my door. After about 10 minutes, with my anxiety through the roof, I step out my back door and approach him (out of sight of the electrician as he is being very animated, angry, talking with the other man). In hind sight, I wonder if he ever intended to talk with me and instead was cornered by me. Either way, he introduces himself as a member of management (I believe his name was Tyler) and expresses how embarrassing this is. He promises he will make it right by me. It took another 2 hours before a "replacement" electrician arrived. Sadly, this new employee does not speak to me; he does not say one word to me. He goes in and out of my home, inspects the drunken electrician's work, both inside and outside my home, and then leaves my property. It is the HVAC installers that finally tell me that all checks out and all the electrical work is now complete. Here we are six calendar days later and I have not received a single bit of communication from A-TEMP except for a charge to my credit card for the final balance due. Needless to say, I am disappointed that they have not "(made) this right by me". Their actions have done nothing but suggest they do not care. They didn't give a second thought to my experience or to my concerns. Their actions suggest their customer is not important. They touted their employees are all top notch but they sent a drunken electrician to my property! It is certainly of interest to note, I have learned that complaints have been previously made to upper management at A-TEMP about Paul (this drunken electrician) to no avail. This is simply unacceptable; to put customer safety (he worked on my live electrical panel drunk!) as such a low priority is simply unacceptable. read more

We called A-Temp after our furnace went out in November. The technician was rude when my husband told him that he didn't think the entire unit needed to be replaced as the technician suggested at well over $3000. We had another company come out and look at the unit and after spending a couple hundred dollars replacing a few parts it has worked fine ever since. We recently heard their comercial on the radio on 1190 KEX in the morning about how they are a "tobacco free company" but the technician that came out to our house obviously had a chew in his mouth when he left, which made us wonder if he had been spitting it all over our garage while he was there. If that qualifies as tobacco free..I wonder what it means when they say they are "drug free" and do "criminal background checks" as well? We'll go with the other guys next time. read more

Never called A-Temp service. I got the discount to service my air and furnace for regular maintainant. The normal charge is reasonable; the Ignitor of furnace and relay of air-conditioning are still working but marginal. He asked me to replace each one is $185.0 for Ignitor and $180 for relay. At the same time, I searched in internet, the Ignitor cost about $20 and relay is $10. My friend had the same issue and the other service man charge him about $40.0 for ignitor. A-Temp mark-up service 450% compare with others . DO NOT CALL A-TEMP to be ripped OFF. END UP is DYI and I save a lot of money. read more

Regretfully I m writing this review. I will never use this company or recommend to anyone I know. Ive been a loyal customer of 13yrs, but recently on Monday the 26th of January, I had the most unprofessional experience. During a routine inspection of equipment, 45 min into service after tech had been downstairs in the basement he came upstairs to ask "how do u heat your home?" , this is the first thing he has said to me except hello upon arrival, completely caught off guard I said "with the furnace", his reply was "yeah the furnace hasn' t worked since I arrived" which is inaccurate my furnace had ALWAYS functioned. I had turned off the heat for a internet tech that was working at the same time and A-temp tech then says maybe the Internet guy did something, I said let's call him the tech said no, I called and the Internet tech had simply cut a dead cable line. This routine service has now turned into a $1700 repair on a furnace that was functioning %100 upon arrival of A-temp tech. I have since hired someone else and the job was completed for a fraction of the cost. Due to A-temp my 6 yr old daughter and I had no heat for 3 days. They don't have experienced enough customer service reps to be able to tell you over the phone whether they can even service your unit. So, instead of waiting a week for your service call, which could rescheduled last minute, and then them showing up and leaving 10 minutes later after they say they can't do anything, you should probably just find another service company. read more

Paid the $99 for a Diagnostics Service Call. I just wanted a yearly maintenance done--unit was working although we were having an intermittent problem with unit turning on. Rep was super nice & professional but was a salesman--said the unit was too old to be serviced & needed replaced for over $8000 and to service it it'd need to be removed off the concrete base to get to the coils and cost thousands and said it wouldn't last through the Summer. So my husband opened up the unit and it was in great condition--he blew out the coils and we cleaned it up. Last night the intermittent problem started again so we removed the thermostat from the wall and blew it out and changed the batteries. The system went back to working just fine. Since I've used A Temp to service my furnace in the past, I attempted to schedule with them again this year. I had a date scheduled a few weeks out. The day before the appointment we received a call that they were busy with other customers with broken furnaces and needed to move our appointment. Mind you the temperature wasn't freezing outside so a broken furnace this day wouldn't be a huge problem. The message A Temp sent me was that they could make more $$ from a repair than my tune up. When I told them I am a return customer, but now will take my business elsewhere from now on, they didn't really care. read more
