I sort of have an obsession with soondae, the Korean black pudding, or boudin. I suppose it's just nostalgia over eating that good stuff back on the streets of Seoul along with ttukpoki (spicy rice cakes) and odeng (fish cake stick). Never mind if you can't relate... Anyway, as soondaes go, this place stands out quite a bit. They don't just have the standard seoul street soondae (the black one), but they have three other versions as well. It's definitely a must try, at least once anyway. I found that the normal black one was definitely still the best. We also tried the jokbal, which was a fun gelatinously rubbery delicacy. I know, sounds amazing right? :P (Yes, these dishes deserve to be on the Bizarre Foods show.) It was really good, but I didn't like the fact that it's served cold. Is that normal?? I would've preferred it warm. I still like the standard top places better - Seoul Soondae, 8th Street Soondae, etc. But it's definitely worth a try at least once. read more

I've always driven by this place and constantly reminded myself to try it out and I've finally did after 3 years. The inside decoration was cute. I can't be too sure, but it seems like the owner was doing most of the waiting and cooking. He was very courteous, nice and friendly. We had the Gam-ja tang(pork back rib stew with potato), Soon Dae Tang, and Chap Sal Soon dae plate. It was all good. Gam ja tang portion was very generous. Lots of meat to munch on. I was craving soodae one day and my usual soodae destination, Seoul Soondae, was just too far of a drive. I yelped around and found Abbaee Wang Soondae and decided to check it out. I ordered the chapsahl soondae and the gahm jah tang for my friend. The prices and quantity were good compared to other soondae restaurants. The food was just as good. The gahm jah tang was hearty and didn't have a strong pork smell, which I absolutely hate. The soondae was okay. Too much chapsahl IMO but it met my needs. I think next time I'll check out the Abbaee Soondae. read more

Classic soondae as well as the street kind. The best is to get the combination soondae to share and then a soondae soup for yourself. Delicious! The thing that sticks out is that the soondae soup has both kinds of soondae as well. Great so you don't get bored, and every bite is so delicious it leaves you wanting more! Upon the yelp review, I decided to check this place out. I don't have anything against this place's owner(s) but Soondae soup was way too sucky. Soup, soondae, and testicles,,, nothing was good at all. Seriously, one of the two options MUST BE TRUE. 1. There was something super wrong with making soondae on the specific day I went. Bossam is really no good... Especially kimchi doesn't seem like normal bossam kimchi..it was supposed be little sweet. All kimchi include side kimchis are tooooooo salty. Bossam meat also no soft n no melt. Anyway im disappointed it. Never come back again. read more

This is my go to place. Best authentic soondae restaurant in town! Theres variety of soondae but my favorite is the combo plate. Soondae soup is also great, esp in the cold weather like these days. This is the spot for those days when you're craving soondae. I love how Abbaee Wang Soondae features such a wide variety of soondae. Before dining here, I did not know there were different types of soondae, and had only tired the common black colored soondae. My sister and I tried the large order of the assorted soondae, which were all very delicious. We also tried the soondae tang, which was rich and flavorful, and featured just the right amount of heat. I'm not sure why people are complaining about the service here. Sure, it's not the most friendly place, but they are attentive, and I've had worst service elsewhere. Good soondae but honestly if you get the regular one then it tastes the same as the market ones. But I really appreciate when they give the side meats like liver and intestine. As for the other flavors, there's a lighter colored one and a spicier flavored one, they are pretty good but they are pricy. My dad's friend happens to own a SoonDae shop too but this place's soup is much, much better. At least, in my opinion. Well as good as it gets in a place that is not ktown or korea. I don't eat soondae, but my mom and sister wanted to eat it, so we came here. They said the regular dark soondae tastes better than the white soondae (white because there's no blood). But the white is not bad (they said. i have no clue, i have no taste for it.) I loved this place's yang nyum tong dak? In English, I guess it's something like.. seasoned fried chicken? Here, they use only wings and wingettes so all the pieces are yummy and tender. It is the right amount of spicy and sweet, and tastes a lot better than the ones that you get usually at bars. (in the Fullerton/buena park area). It is $16.99 for a plate and you get a LOT of chicken. It made me full and I didn't even eat 1/3. Also, they radish they give you for the chicken is yummy. I'm no foodie so that's as far as my description goes. It's hard to mess up this dish, but some places make it taste like cardboard. This one does not. The Kimchi here is really fresh and delicious too. My mom got something to-go once and I ate the kimchi and it was really good. When I went there a few days ago though, the kimchi was a bit salty. I asked the lady why does it taste good (excluding the salty day) and she said they make it fresh everyday. Whenever I crave for jokbal and gajami shik hae, we always come here for to go. I don't know if others agree, but their gajami is The bomb. More fermented than kimchi and mouth watering taste. It goes damn well with their jokbal and magguli. Highly recommended place! read more

This place is a joke. Horrible customer service. I understand you guys are busy, then higher more people instead of not caring for your customers. I called beforehand and asked if I would need to place an order beforehand so I don't wait. I was told just to come and place order in person if I am ordering a small size and there won't be any wait time. I arrived 5mins later and I am here waiting over 20 right now. This is my favorite soondae () place. First of all, the food is great! You don't get the spread of some other korean restaurants but I say simpler the better! They have two types of soondae: the regular and abaee(). If you like the taste of korean mandoo(), you'll enjoy their special soondae that I don't see anyone else selling. I'm not a foodie so you'll have to go se for yourself, idk how to explain the deliciousness of the food. Also to top it off, the place is run by an adorable couple who are super duper kind. Surprisingly, their donkatsu is one of the best I've had near OC area. It is meaty and soft inside, and crispy outside. Plus, their homemade sauce is to kill for. I have been a pretty frequent abbae soondae enthusiast...up until their abbae soondae (what they're known for) was a bit rotten/old when we ordered this dish. Normally it tasted savory and absolutely delicious but this particular day it tasted sour and then the after taste was bitter. We told the owners that maybe they had given us soondae that was old but they were adamant that it was fine. Then why would it taste sour and bitter?! They claim that once they cook it they freeze it to preserve the freshness. But that vegetables and eggs are also cooked into this abbae soondae. The vegetables could have gone bad and so could have the eggs. We weren't being rude about it we were just making a comment about it. Then the owner(man) tried to reprimand us stating we shouldn't be claiming that their food is rotten, that it is our tastebuds and that their soondae is not for us. We have been coming to this establishment for YEARS. This man just totally rubbed me the wrong way. Their customer service is shit and quite literally so was their food that particular day we went. The last time I went to this place was more than two years ago. First of all, I love soondae, so I have been to this place a couple of times. At the time, we lived less than 5 minutes away, so it was convenient as well. Well, one day, I was craving soondae so much, I ordered the wang soondae and soondae soup to go. I opened the soondae for the soondae soup and it was delicious!! And then the wang soondae... As I opened it, I had to close it right away because it smelled like garbage. It was trash. This location is in a ghetto ghetto place. Almost too scary to walk in. I had to really brace myself to quench my thirst for soondae. I have been craving seoul soondae, but the drive is too far for me. The review had an overall 4 stars...why not give it a try. The place was empty when i went and the couple (the owners) were eating their food. She got up to take my order, while the man kept eating his food, which is fine....she then goes and takes out soondae, and starts cutting them without even washing her hands. So, i'm feeling little disgusted already, then her cell phones rings, which she picks up and starts yapping away while proceeding with the cutting for good 3 minutes. She hangs up and of course still no washing of her hands, she just continues touching my food with her dirty hands. Ugh!! What is wrong with korean people? I can't be the only one that cares about sanitation. Really? Seriously? Oh come on....you own a restaurant, you need to wash your hands after eating, touching money, using bathroon, touching cell phones...etc. I still came home, ate the soondae with my husband...and Now i have a headache....I hope I don't get a stomach ache ...good grief!
