One of my Vietnamese friends suggested that I come to this market. I was searching for a particular Asian item, which many stores don't normally carry. After parking my car, I attempted to enter the grocery store, but there were 4+ people begging at the entry and there were several homeless people blocking the entry way. I have *NO* problem with this, but I think that the store management can do a better job with crowd control. Immediately outside of the store was very dirty and there was trash everywhere. Not very clean. The store was large - meat and seaffood department, fruits veggies, etc. The store looked like it was in the 1970's and hadn't been updated in a long time. There is a good section of items here. I didn't find what I was looking for, so I quickly exited. I don't know if I'll be back. ABC is the place to go if you want your lobster cooked just like the restaurant. They'll tack on an extra amount (I think $2 per lb.) for the cooking service. For lobster and crab their prices are competitive. When there's a sale the lines will be huge, and pretty horrendous! This store caters to the Vietnamese community and is as authentic as you can get. If you're looking for authenticity that's gritty and not white-washed this is the place to go. Both the inside and outside will certainly give a flavor of being back in the old country. With that being said, come to the market with an open mind, don't expect "thank you"s, or anything that resembles manners. Do expect hoarding of parking spaces and some really poor driving. I really just go here for the seafood because of the pricing and/or the cooking service. Just a quick update - This is one of the only grocery stores in the area where you can find the ultra yummy canned butter goodness from France - Bretel Butter. DON'T accept any imitations. I've seen knock offs also in the red can called Frentel/Frandel/etc - NOT the same quality and taste. Bretel butter tastes great on anything - from fresh baguette to steak to steamed veggies. You can find it in that register at the front of the store. Yes, it's quite rare so it's stocked behind the counter, rather than upfront and readily available (like the knockoff brands). Parking still sucks during the daytime, so come at night. Worth the drive to test this butter. It'll set you back about $8 for a can but its... like the best condiment you can add to anything. read more

Go to this market because of convenient location, but cashiers are often make mistake with over charge , or double charge ( buy one charge time, buy small size charge big size ), don't know whether they intentionally do it or not but the charge is alway over, never less . I agree with some comments here regarding the lobsters cooked at the restaurant inside the supermarket. I bought $140 lobsters and there was barely any meat! Only shells!!! I called the restaurant the lady picked up the phone said the manager/owner was not there. She blamed the meat was shrunk. Well even the lobsters are skinny or shrunk there must be meat come with it or drop to the bottom of the tray. There were in fact empty shells, meat was no where to be found. The lady was very rude and hung up the phone! Don't let them cook your lobsters. Dishonest and deceiving business must be closed! read more

I was in the area and needed to buy some groceries. I had wanted to go to the one right by Target off Westminster but didn't realize that one had closed, so I just opted for this one. It's been a while since I've been in here. It is so much dirtier and chaotic than its counterparts in the area. While a lot of these grocers sell a host of other ethnic foods, this one is mostly laden with Vietnamese grocery. They do have some Japanese sauces such as Kikkoman. I bought some Japanese noodles soy sauce which was on sale and much cheaper than at other grocery stores so that's an extra star. Other than that, I wouldn't make an effort to come here and even if I was in the area, I think the others such as Saigon City and My Thuan is slightly better. read more

BEWARE !!! We bought 3 lobster alive and kicking cost $120. They offered to cook the lobsters for us at their food take out counter. When we brought home the cooked lobster tray, the lobsters had very little meat inside and the meat were not fresh, they have replaced our lobsters with the dead ones in their kitchen. I would give this F-ing place 0 star if I could. Do not buy cook lobsters from the place. They are a bunch of crooks and thieves. I purchase 3 lobsters from this place for a total 12+ lbs and had it cooked for me. Got home and discovered that It has only 5 lobster tail pieces total and 2 complete claws the other 4 only consisted of the part of the claws that no one eat. So the best thing to buy here is their lobster. They sell it for about 7-8 bucks a pound and then you can take your live lobster over to the kitchen area and have them cook it for you for a dollar each pound, which is a bargain considering restaurants like Tan Cang sell the very same lobster close to $100 bucks per lobster. So for a 5lb lobster, you would only be paying $40 for it and cooked :D read more

This is a HUGE market; think of it as a discount Ranch 99 and Daiso combined. You can literally spend hours in here. They have a huge fruit and frozen area section, and their housewares are amazing low price and great quality; I bought four appliance light bulb for $1.49 (granted I didn't try them and see how they held up) The downside to this place is it has very ample parking and you will come across some very rude people that will run you over and push you out of their way. read more

It's a good place to go shopp for food, but the worker there are so RUDE the way they're talk to the customer. The cashier lady was so rude to my dad for no reason, and the old guy who work at the seafood station was yelling at me when I tell him that I want the bigger crab and he keeping yelling at me in Vietnamese which I don't understand what he was saying but I know for sure he yelling in front of my face. If I could give this supermarket a 0/5 stars on its organization and sanitation, I would. The store literally has no space for customers to move their carts around, and everywhere there are piles of boxes and over-piled items on the shelves. Our experiences with the workers that work at the fish station are just pure unprofessional. With the amount of customers waiting for their fish to be attended is just whack. The workers stand there talking to each other as if they're on their break, and some had the audacity to call while on duty! We had to abandon our wish to have a fish to be ready. We live in LA, but if you're looking for specific ingredients used in ethnic dishes (especially Vietnamese), then there is no better place than ABC. Its prices are cheap, so it's no surprise those savings have to come from elsewhere, namely: understaffing and lacking cleanliness. Space between aisles and in the vegetable section are TIGHT - no more than one cart can fit sideways. Hope you're not claustrophobic. Service: while you'd be hard pressed to find help between the aisles, the cashiers are helpful for questions if you don't mind waiting in tedious lines. It also helps if you speak their native language, Vietnamese. They give great inside tips and recommendations on which products to buy/use. My mom and I previously bought the wrong Pandan extract elsewhere and they suggested another brand that only they carry that professionals use. read more

If you are asian then most likely you have heard of Ranch 99 Market in Southern California (that's the only asian super market I have seen around in the inland empire location). The abc market is just like the Ranch 99 store except it is dirtier, more disorganized, & vietnamese speaking workers. The fruit section was definitely lacking. They only had apples, pears, oranges, and some mangos to pick from! Not to mention, their prices are definitely overpriced. I bought a box of Korean pears from ranch 99 just last week & the price was only $12! At the ABC market, the entire box was $21.99!!! Their aisles are disorganized and unsanitary. Also, the workers talks about you infront of you because 1. They don't care or 2. They assume you are not VIETNAMESE. Overall, if you're looking for some asian ingredients to cook up a good authentic meal then this place definitely has what you need! However, be prepared to compare prices since this location can be a bit pricier compare to ranch 99. read more

LOBSTER! Come here during lobster season and you can get the house special lobster (yes, the yummy Asian flavored one) for about 6.99 a lb. The lanes are tiny and you're usually battling it out with a tiny Vietnamese lady to get the right of way, but it doesn't matter because Lobster. Review just for ingredients. Needed to find some quality soup paste now that the winter is here. I enjoy cooking and love most soups, however, they take too much time to prep. Found the isle I needed to begin the soup bases for this fall. [Soup paste] -Always surprised by the variety in the Pho paste's with chicken, beef, vegetarian and maybe one more. -The Wonton paste was a treasure to find for some potentially good mi (egg noodle soups) -Each tub was around $2-4, with a serving of 20 bowls I believe. We used 1 tub the other weekend and it produced a large fingers to shoulders length of broth. [Noodles] -In the back of the market they have two sections for 8-14 different kinds of white noodles and equally 8-14 egg noodles. OUTSTANDING. I don't mind getting noodles for soup pre-packaged in advance, but its just a fantastic option to have the egg noodles fresh for same day cooking. They have sprinkles of flour on them, very nice. I come here pretty often when I'm in Westminster with the family. Overall, this market is like Vietnam Central-- it's absolutely ghetto, but tons of deals and pretty similar to the markets in most places of Vietnam. There's tons of homeless solicitors, and a great area for bargains, exotic fruits, and just yummy Vietnamese treats. Oh, and the food to-go place inside the market is pretty cheap, fabulous, and delicious. However, parking is always horrible here. I walked into this supermarket because my daughter told me they had some really good Vietnamese coffee flavored ice cream. BIG MISTAKE! Employees are extremely rude. I was pushed and shoved. ONE single lady smiled and apologized (she was a customer). I stressed that she was a cuatomer because the employees here really need some training on how to treat customers. I was in the checkout paying and the cashier on the next line, just pushed me to pass by, TWICE! I asked her if it was difficult to say excuse me. I was ignored. Fish, Fish, Fish! You've got to love Fish. Well I come to this place to get my fish fix on. They have galore fresh fish every where. They have live lobsters and catfish that they will cook for you, Either boil or deep fry. How could you go wrong for about $4 you get a good sized Talapia and they do fry it for free. Most of the guys behind the fish counter are mexi's. It does smell kind of funky in the market, just an FYI. And be careful in the parking lot, it does get crowded and some what chaotic. read more

You'll get a receipt to go pay(at the food to go counter) and tell them what time and flavor you want. (house special or black pepper. I'm from Los Angeles, but my parents make it a point to come here for all of their groceries. Parking - Absolutely nuts. It was very difficult finding parking spots even though the lot is very big. It might be because it also shares the lot with a bunch of other businesses. Regardless, sometimes you even have to fight for a spot or traffic may stop all together because someone's trying to get a certain spot. Layout/Ambiance - It was honestly pretty stressful trying to navigate the supermarket. The aisles are fairly small so they can barely fit two shopping carts. When I went on a Saturday afternoon, there were so many people and carts that it was almost like playing Pacman to get around the place. Also sometimes people will straight up leave their carts in the middle of the aisle so it takes up space when moving around. Selection - There is a great selection of everything! Seafood, meats, rice, produce, etc. this also includes many Vietnamese groceries that wouldn't be available at your local Vons. They basically have everything that my parents could want. Prices - Prices are decently affordable. We always come looking for a bunch of groceries and don't have to bust our wallet for it. Overall, I personally wouldn't shop her because of the distance and the fact that I'm so used to American grocery stores. But my parents love it here, and that's all that maters. read more

I come to this supermarket very often. Today I had a very bad experience at the cash register. The casher name Anh L who was in charge at the cash register. The minutes she grabbed my first item , she turned her face to the store manager and kept talking to her. They chatted how much fun to travel to Vietnam. It was about 10 minutes. when she done, she pointed her finger to the monitor and she told me the total was 83.44. I gave her 85$. She still talked and talked while She gave me 1.56$ back. She did not say hi when she first saw me or thank you after she gave me the change. she was not even look at me. Been going to this supermarket for many years, even before I started living part-time in the OC. This place has the makeup of an authentic Vietnamese supermarket. They carry a huge selection of fruits/veggies, seafood, meats, frozen foods, condiments, dinnerware, and all of your Vietnamese/Asian needs lol. The prices here are very reasonable and much lower than what I'm accustomed to. The main reason I go here is for the special pork meatloaf called "Cha Lua" which is made FRESH here every day. If you don't know what cha lua is, look it up! It is very easy to cook and can be incorporated with sooooo many dishes... even instant noodles! I've been eating cha lua made from THIS particular supermarket since I was a young child and I have yet to find a place that makes it better. At $5.50 a pop, these babies are a steal. But come early, because this is a hot seller. This place is both crowded and cramped so expect walking or, heaven forbid, pushing your shopping cart down the aisles to be a huge pain in the @$$. I'm lucky I'm Vietnamese so I can communicate with the people around the store but if you don't know the language... don't expect much help from the workers as their English is very limited. It's your typical Asian supermarket so the push for quality customer service is practically non-existent. Parking sucks but there will always be spots far away if you're willing to walk. This review is not for their actual supermarket as a whole., but just for their seafood section. This review IS solely for their LOBSTER!!! I believe that they are currently having a lobster sale $5.49 per pound for LIVE lobsters. If you add an extra dollar per pound then they will actually cook it up for you. My family usually gets one lobster cooked for around $25-40 (depending on the size). We buy the yellow noodles to boil ourselves. Mixing the noodles with the Lobster and its saucy goodness was probably one of my mom's remarkable home modifications. I dare say that it can rival Capital Seafood's lobster noodles!! I come here for the Seafood FOOD TO GO and nothing else. By far best Food-to-go in regards to seafood and food period. Salt and pepper crab is $3.99 per lb. They make it first thing in the morning so your best bet to get food is first thing in the morning. Salt and pepper shrimp. Depending on the size of your order, sometimes you can call ahead and they will make it fresh for you. Catering platters are available. They got Stir Fry Pho, Lo Mein, Macaroni salad, Fried Calamari (one of my freakin' faves) and other dishes such as Canh Chua (sour soup). Super old and outdated but it's a solid market for cheap produce, live fish, crab and lobster. They have the best prices in town when it comes to seafood. I like getting my catfish here. I wish I could rate this market zero. I wait to order 1 live lobster, I did not know how many lbs 1 lobster weighs so I asked the fish catcher. He was very rude and asked me how many lobster I wanted and forced me to answer his question. I said I did not know how many lbs a lobster weighs. He did not answer and argued very rudely. I had to say 1 lobster (I bought for my sister). I wish I could walk away right way. I kept calm and did not answer. Then another man came and told the catcher to stop arguing with customers.
