    Green onion bread
    Zinnia V.

Ahgoo's kitchen offers Chinese cuisine that feels homemade with love. The green onion bread was fluffy and crispy at the same time. I really enjoyed the green beans. The fillet fish in the sauce was very flavorful but not my cup of tea. The service was great, there was only one lady working and she was very sweet and friendly. The food took a while to come out but we assumed it was a mom n pop so there wasn't many workers. Super old school inside kinda like an Asian home vibe.

    Beef Wrap $16.95

It's a cozy mom and pop shop with the sweetest lady taking orders and serving food. Because it's just her, service does take awhile, but it looks like she has really loyal customers like they know her and she knows them. Lots of togo orders too and the phone was ringing the whole time like it seemed like a super popular place! However ... the food wasn't really to my taste (except for the beef wrap). I will say it looks like every table ordered a soup of some sort so maybe I didn't get the right things? But I ordered things that said "signature" or things that other people seem to have liked so eh maybe it's just not for me. Beef Wrap ($17)-- MY FAVORITEEE!! Super savory, well seasoned, lots of meat, not too sweet. It's actually a really big portion too. Kind of oily though Scallion Pie ($18)-- Do note that it's a pie!! And not the typical scallion pancake!!! It's supposed to be crispy outside and fluffy inside but unfortunately we got limp and soft. Flavor wise there was soooooooooo little salt/flavor whereas the ones I've had before still had a slight saltiness. This one is plain on purpose probably to eat with food? Not my style. Very popular item though! All the tables were ordering this maybe give it a try if you're curious. Seaweed fish ($18)-- VERYYYYYY OILY GREASY like the fish soaked up every drop of oil. Not the "clean fry" I was expecting (and other places do it better). It was too oily and we couldn't finish this. House Special Bean Curd ($18)-- There's pork in here but you wouldn't know unless you can read the Chinese. Just warning the vegetarians, this is not for you!!! However, there is a very tiny amount where the ratio is like 85% tofu 15% pork if I'm being generous. Flavor was ok, but overall very greasy and stingy with pork. We ate this with the scallion pie to give the bread some flavor. Overall I wasn't impressed with the food but I think it's just not my style. The beef wrap is the only reason why it's 3 stars and not 2. The lady was so nice though and kept refilling our tea pot (because we were trying to chase down that grease with hot tea!) and there's a parking lot in the back and easy street parking.

    Signature Green Onion Sesame Pie

Finally got a chance to dine in here a few days ago when I came here for lunch on a weekday with some coworkers. It was full inside surprisely but luckily, a table was leaving so we got our table without a wait. We ordered the Beef Rolls, Signature Green Onion Pie, Stir Fried Onions and Beef, and some vegetables. It is a small restaurant that is family style so only one server and the food wasn't served that quickly especially since it was full inside. The food was ready around 20 minutes after ordering. The portions are all decent and looked delicious. The beef rolls were very good, crispy skin and not stingy with the beef inside. The signature green onion sesame pie was also very good, texture is the perfect balance of hard and soft. The only thing was that the vegetables and the stir fried beef was oily. Both tasted good but very oily. Overall, still a great place to go with friends or family. I recommend the beef rolls. They tasted very authentic.

    Bamboo with Ground Pork

Went to Ahgoo's Kitchen and skipped their signature Green Onion Sesame Pie and Beef Roll this time, opting instead for the low-carb Seaweed Fish Fillet and Bamboo with Ground Pork--and it did not disappoint. The bamboo shoots had a deep, smoky wok-hei flavor that paired beautifully with the richness of the ground pork, making each bite savory and satisfying without feeling heavy. The fried fish fillet arrived piping hot, perfectly flaky, light, and well-seasoned, with the seaweed adding an extra layer of umami. Proof that even the "non-signature" dishes here shine just as brightly. Easy 5-star experience.

The decor felt like walking into a retro Chinese restaurant, felt like I was transported back in time. Service was super quick, called an order and it was ready when I got there. The beef roll is the best I've had!

Angoo's kitchen is my mom's favorite restaurant, we are here pretty much every other week. The owners are very friendly and provide very good service no matter how busy they are. Our favorite dishes are shredded pork with dried bean curd, beef rolls, corn chowder, braised pork belly, and many more. Honestly, we have tried so many of their dishes and are never disappointed. Their foods are always fresh and delicious, highly recommending this restaurant!

Mom and pop shop featuring niche Chinese and Taiwanese dishes. During busy hours, the wait will be slow (30 mins). My picky Taiwanese family actually complimented all the dishes! You can taste the wok hei. * Pork intestine fire pot (5/5) - FIYAH I personally love this so much. No stinky flavor at all from the pork intestine and blood * Beef satay w water spinach (4/5) - greasy but delicious * Bamboo stir fry (4/5) * Scallion layered pan fry bread (4/5) - personally not my fav but it's crispy on the outside, fluffy and moist on the inside. Delicious w chili oil

Ahgoo is a small restaurant with very minimal employees (I'm guessing one chef who does all the cooking, one prep guy, one dishwasher, and one lady who works the front) so expect a long wait for your food. The woman who took my order didn't speak any English or Cantonese, so Google Translate came to the rescue when I needed to order some vegan-friendly dishes to-go for my husband. I, on the other hand, ordered their beef roll and sauteed water spinach to dine in. The beef roll was wrapped in a crispy, heavily-sesamed dough, but it lacked the hoisin sauce that I'm typically accustomed to so I had to make my own sauce concoction of vinegar, soy sauce, and chili crisp. The jury is still out on whether I like that much sesame on my beef roll. The water spinach was delicious as it was garlicky and well-seasoned. We shall find out later if the vegan-friendly mapo tofu and sauteed green beans is a hit or not. Because it took almost an hour (and I was one of two customers dining within) for my food and to-go order, I don't think I'll be coming back again. Patience is not one of my virtues.

ABSOLUTELY delicious. One of my favorite spots and always shocked the restaurant is empty. MUST GET: Shepherds purse fish soup Beef rolls- best one ever!! Seaweed fish House special bean curd Could go without but still good: Fried red yeast pork belly Taiwanese fried rice noodle (loved this one tho for nostalgia) Aunties are so nice too, absolute gem of a place.

When people talk about scallion pancake, this place has to be mentioned. They are well known for this special dish and other authentic Chinese food. Highly recommended. Medium size restaurant, clean and descent dining area. Very efficient service, friendly staffs. Be aware of being asked if you want to order the scallion pancake as soon as you walk in the door. If you are in the area, definitely give them a try.

Sig green onion pancake Close up $18. Look at the fluff on this sucker and green onion galore!! So good!

We're the type of family that never leaves OC and so seeing restaurants like this on Sandra L's and other yelpers feed just made me immediately bookmark but also green with envy. It probably took us 3 or more years to take a day off for ourselves and travel up to SGV to try restaurants that has been in our que. The thick fluffy layers of green onion pie ($18) definitely caught our attention and was placed on our SGV food tour to-go list. We tried calling right when they opened, several times, but no one ever picked up. So we had to wait awhile after ordering to get our food, roughly 15 mins. The establishment looked like it's been around for awhile with a mom and pop feel. I can't say much to the service, friendly enough, since we ordered to-go. After 15 minutes, we greedily grabbed our bag of food, ran back to the car and had a taste. Damn that thick onion bread hit just all the right spots we knew there'd be a repeat trip just for the bread. Luckily, the SGV gods were on our side and about 2 months later we were able to come up here again and purchased 2 orders of the green onion pancake. I love reheating it in the microwave for instantaneous green onion/carb gratification. We've also tried the fish in bean sauce ($18) and basil eggplant ($16). Both were good but not on the same level as the green onion pancake. Overall, best green onion I've ever had and beat out my other favorite place for green onion pancake.

    Shredded pork with beancurd
    Grace C.

This place is well known for their green onion sesame pie. They make it from scratch and freshly prepared to order. I love their shredded pork with beancurd. The beancurd is cut so thin. Excellent knife work. Note that service can be slow because it is just one server in the front and dishes do take awhile to come out. Parking is a bit difficult it's either street parking and there is a parking lot in the back.

Ahgoo" in Taiwanese Chinese means "maternal uncle," referring to your mother's brother.  Origin: This term is commonly used in Taiwanese Hokkien, a Southern Chinese dialect widely spoken in Taiwan Ahgoo's. Kitchen in Temple City is on Las Tunas and unlike Glendora's fast food lined streets has a nice selection of small unique eateries. My sister's favorite is the "Beef Wrap" elaborately made with thinly sliced beef, rolled in a beautifully browned crust with a sprinkle of sesame seeds on top with a slight taste of sweetness mixed with spices. Somehow the name Beef wrap just doesn't do it justice, it just seems like it should be named something like "Taiwanese sesame crusted beef wrap with cilantro & special sauce", or something like "Emperor's beef wrap" "Taiwanese Beef Rolls have deep-rooted historical ties, but their story extends beyond Taiwan's borders. While the exact origin remains somewhat unclear, one prevailing theory traces their roots to Shanghai, a bustling city in northeastern China" We had the Westlake beef soup, just a slight variation from the chinese version of the ingredients plus it had finely chopped ingredients , stir fried water spinach, so far this was my favorite and mixed with the , Taiwanese Fried Noodles so good. The Pickled Cabbage w bean sheet with edamame. First time to try this, it was very good. The Taiwanese noodles were very similar to Pancit Bihon one of my favorite Filipino dishes. Plus, I just mixed them with the fried water spinach for lunch, so delicious. We always order a variety from new restaurants to get a feel for what our favorites might be and it then they even taste better warmed up the next day. I included pictures: the bowl of soup it could serve a family. A note: We all love cilantro and almost all dishes come with a nice portion of cilantro.

They have a lot of tables inside so it is great for small and large groups. The waiters were also fast even though they were busy. We ordered their Kung Pao Chicken, Fried Tofu, Beef Noodle, Shrimp w Walnut, and Vegetable w Garlic. We decided not to get lobster since it was pricey. They took our order pretty fast and gave tea to drink. The pot of white rice is extra $1 if you order though. And their menu book doesn't have prices for some reason. Only the to-go menu has prices. Food was served in a decent amount of time, around 15 minutes. And all dishes arrived close together so we didn't have to wait long. The kung pao chicken is so good! Not spicy at all and very nice and crispy with good seasoning. It tasted delicious with some rice. The beef noodles were also delicious! It had good wok taste and was very flavorful. The tofu and shrimp were also good. My family and I used to religiously eat lobster noodles whenever we made a trip down to SoCal. The pick of the bunch was 100% Newport Seafood- no negotiations, no contemplations. Unfortunately, the last handful of times have left me extremely disappointed and heavily annoyed. The cost and wait times do not reflect what is actually being provided and most of our food ends up being left behind because it simply isn't worth the calories. In all honestly, I've grown a phobia w/ that specific restaurant at this point because of the countless letdowns. My initial taste of Boston Lobster was about 3 years ago and I had the most enjoyable meal. Due to our LA trip coming to an end, my BD thought we should do it big with some lobster noodles- for good old time's sake. I absolutely refused to go anywhere unless we would be giving Boston Lobster a visit! Sure enough, they did not disappoint! Dinner for 3 adults and 1 toddler consisted of: *Boston House Special Lobster [no spice] + Garlic Noodles for an additional fee. Medium Size 5-6lbs minimally. *French Style Beef Cube *Sauteed Snow Pea Leaves We ate like mf'n KINGS!! Each and every dish was spectacular- even the greens! While we should have gone with the small sized lobster, I'm proud to say we went down with an honorable fight. Lmao!! The lobster was cooked to perfection- meat was sweet, succulent, and so darn tender. The garlic noodles soaked up all of the delicious lobster flavors and were not overcooked and mush. The bo luc lac was flavorful, juicy, and complimented the bed of lettuce, onions, & tomatoes so well. The snow pea leaves weren't tough and old- this truly was a simply yet magical dish. Service was on point and the staff continually came by to swap out our plates full of lobster shells. Above all, there was no wait with our initial arrival. Parking is easy given the fact that BL has a pretty big parking lot specifically for them. 5/5 stars!! We dropped over 3 bills here and it didn't even hurt. Lmao- this place is that damn good! Don't sleep on this joint, y'all. Boston Lobster is the real deal when it comes to authentic Chinese/Vietnamese cuisine. This spot should be so much more hyped than it actually is!

Hunan Style Fried Pork-- it looks intimidating but the chilis are the fragrant kind!! Super mild baby spice, not like eating serranos. The sauce is super rich and savory. Pretty much everything here is made to eat with rice so if it's too salty for you.. eat more rice. Stir fry dry bean curd with pork-- Look I know it's not the most appetizing looking or all that in terms of color palette.. BUT IT IS GOOOOD! This is what I thought about the food we got. House Seafood Soup - Simple and clean soup. Good portion, and it was soothing to eat. Lots of squid. (4/5) Clams with Spicy Sauce - Large clams with tons of meat, and the sauce was fire. Always a good choice. (5/5) Crab with Salt & Pepper - Loved the seasoning, and the flavors were solid. (4.5/5) Thai Style Beef Stew - First time trying this, and it was good. A bit different, but the meat chunks were tasty and the overall flavors were good. (4/5) Sautéed Pea Sprouts - Nicely done vegetable dish. It's simple but refreshing with good flavors. (4/5) Fried Whole Fish - This dish was gone so fast because it was delicious. Nicely fried and not overly seasoned. (5/5) Signature Lobster - I feel like you have to get this here since it's their specialty. It's pricey, but in my opinion, it's the best and freshest lobster in town. Tons of green onions, seasoned well, fresh meat, and lots of lobster roe. (5/5) Service was good, and they didn't automatically add a mandatory tip for a large party. The total came out to around $364, which is pricey, but the food was phenomenal. Parking - Valet only, but they have street parking in front. I parked on the street since there were plenty of spots on a Wednesday, but I assume it gets busy on weekends.

Came here for the Peking duck and left very satisfied with everything else we ordered too…read more Definitely call ahead about an hour before if you want to reserve your duck. The Peking duck lived up to the hype. I liked that they use pancakes instead of the buns, and building each bite with hoisin, green onion, cucumber, duck meat, and crispy skin gave a great mix of textures and flavors. The other dishes were solid too. The pea sprouts were fresh and loaded with garlicky flavor without being overpowering. The shrimp fried rice was probably one of the best value dishes we ordered at around $13 -- lots of shrimp mixed throughout and a great filler for the table. The honey walnut shrimp was unique because it came with melon, which added a refreshing touch. The shrimp itself was super crispy and I appreciated that it wasn't drowning in sauce or overly sweet. The French style beef was another standout -- packed with fresh peppers and the meat was incredibly tender. Overall, you really can't go wrong ordering here. Great spot if you're craving Peking duck and Chinese family-style dishes.

The sweet and sour pork was unfortunately a disaster. The pork was sliced paper-thin--so thin that it felt like I was mostly eating batter with barely any meat. I was also disappointed they took the sweet and sour fish off the menu because that dish was amazing a few months ago. The five-color noodles were light, clean, and refreshing. The pork elbow was delicious with a fun, tender texture. The fish maw soup was very good and comforting, though it could have used a little more seasoning. Other than that, it was delicious. The steamed sea bass with soy sauce was incredibly soft and fragrant--a definite must-order. The scallops with vermicelli noodles were another hit: fresh, clean flavors and perfectly cooked scallops. My only suggestion would be to cut the noodles, as they came in one big clump and were difficult to serve. We ordered the beef fried rice but were given lamb instead. It was a bit gamier than expected, but still tasty. The black fungus with tofu was also excellent--well seasoned and full of flavor. Overall, there were a few misses, but the Peking duck, sea bass, scallops, pork elbow, and black fungus with tofu made the meal worth coming back for.
