First off, I'm rounding up with my review. I'd say this place deserves a 3.5 star review. The waitress was nice and professional to us. But was definitely having some not too professional conversations behind the bar. She also sprayed a TON of Raid (yes, the bug spray) behind the bar. "This s*** works and smells so good, but DEFINITELY toxic." ...then why would you spray that where the drinks and cups are? We ordered a plate of the cheese fries with carne asada. After about 10 minutes, the waitress informed us that it would a little bit of a wait because the cook has to "run an errand." Okay. Sure. 30 minutes later, he's back. I can't penalize him for this - what if he had to pick up his child from day care or something. I get it, stuff happens. BUT. Once he was back, it took 45 minutes to get that one plate of cheese fries. Food is fine. Would be good hangover cure food! Not a place to take your mom. This place has really evolved over the years. Its current incarnation features an adjacent beer garden with a small selection of local brews on tap. At this rate, I wouldn't be surprised if they eventually grew into an actual building. By far, the coolest thing is that they're super dog-friendly. And they don't just stop there--a small section of their menu is devoted entirely to meals for your pup. On this particular visit, the server was kind enough to offer my buddy a treat on the house. Let's talk about their human food. I wasn't expecting much out of their cheese fries, but the portion was massive. Clearly enough for two people. The fries themselves were well-seasoned and topped with both nacho and shredded cheeses along with pico de gallo. Needless to say, it paired extremely well with my Fairweather IPA. Was sad to have a bad experience here! The reviews made it look like a fun place. We waited 40 mins to share three carne asada tacos. Our canned beer was Luke warm and obviously oxidized. It looked like there was one person working for the small amount of people at the establishment. It also looked like there was another employee who wasn't working but was drinking and kept walking behind the bar. If a iced tea is ordered, that should prob be started first just so it can seep longer. I've done coffee for 13 years, managed stands, and have opened stands. Why is redbulls so inconsistent? The girl tried telling me the strawberry would curdle in my daughters COLD regular milk today! ... this was funny to me- especially since I know it doesn't. It MAY try to curdle in a redbull over ice with cream in it, but hey if your a good barista you would have discovered the trick to not letting that happen. If not ask, hey I'll let you in on a secret. Not in milk though! You have amazing ham and cheese croissant, but I swear it's a 50/50 chance you MIGHT have them. Beautiful sunny Saturday and I wanted to come sit on the patio and try their fried pickles!! They were delicious! Also they were spears with beer batter. Can't find that anywhere else in town. We also shared some carne asada tacos. They were also delicious. We waited awhile for food, maybe 45 minutes but were told there was going to be a wait before we ordered. I was fine sitting in the sun waiting. The three tables had big parties at each with people scattered along the bar tops that border the deck. One guy had to manage everyone, take orders, even make the drinks people ordered when there were two baristas in the coffee hut which also had a line of cars who were ordering food and drinks. The guy was great, had a good attitude and was happy. Just the way they operate they could very much improve, not burn out their employees. I think we spent an hour and a half there or so. Next time I want to get the halibut tacos and probly a beer. If you come in the evenings they sometimes have live music. I'm hoping they have more staff to make the evenings run more smoothly. read more

It was a beautiful day for an outdoor lunch, even though it was close to mid afternoon, and I've always wanted to try this cute place. Easy to park, we chose our own seats. Slow service but these days I am well aware of hiring difficulties so it wasn't a big deal. Amazing food-guacamole definitely homemade and delicious, /2 breakfast burrito was HUGE and so tasty, full of the bacon we'd ordered in it. Coffee was up to some of the best in Anchorage, and we have a lot of choices here in that arena. The beer list looked extensive although I overheard someone ordering and they were out of at least two local beers. Music was crowning and perfect volume. But....my lack of the 5th star comes from the condition of the dining area. Garbage on the ground, dead plants hanging above our heads, few tables got wiped down between customers, a broken stool left at a table. My favorite spot for a drive up (or walk up) coffee at work. Super friendly staff and great coffee / coffee-related beverages.

Menu options are intriguing. As a tourist, reindeer dogs, salmon quesadillas and halibut tacos are just a few of the enticing offerings. Execution and delivery is meh. Alchemist advertises coffee drinks. My latte tasted like my mom's Folger's coffee from my childhood. It was brown water, really. My husband's quesadilla was tasty, but we had to remind the counter staff to go pick it up in the kitchen across the lot. So, it was nearly cold. My halibut was overpowered by the greasy sauce. Great idea that is mediocre at best in execution and delivery. The experience reminds me of why tips should come AFTER the meal. We paid our usual 20% when we ordered and the staff didn't deserve it . The kitchen crew might do a better job if they put down their cell phones. read more

Highly recommend avoiding this business due to their lack of care for their customers and inability to abide by the terms and conditions of their own Groupons. There is no excuse for a terrible business model where the manager decides not to let a customer use their Groupon because "they've been meaning to change the description." The terms are the terms - follow them. It isn't the customer's fault if you're unhappy with your relationship with Groupon. Stop with the baseless excuses and put on a better customer service act. Things have definitely improved since my 2015 review. The coffee is better than it was last time, I assume they're using a different company. The bar addition was a good call. The food is good. They had some breakfast bites or whatever that were AMAZING and would taste good with anything. The quesadilla was really good but extremely soggy. And the cheese fries had not only sprinkle cheese on it but nacho cheese, they were amazing but I'm not a fan of nacho cheese, I would order them again if they can do just sprinkle cheese.
