So excited that I found my new go to lunch spot that's close to my house!! This place has it all: healthy, yummy food, great location AND amazing prices! Upon walking in, they have a menu right outside the door with smaller portions and lower prices. I decided to keep it basic with the chicken kabob which comes with a side salad, tasty hummus, chicken with rice underneath and pita bread. I literally scarfed my food down when I got it. I was starving but it was delicious and only $5.99!! The chicken was great quality and on top of that the service was excellent. They were super friendly and gave us some dessert to try on the house which was incredibly sweet. They totally understand customer service here which is why I will be returning on the regular. Overall, I am grateful this place opened up here so that I have a go to lunch spot with great prices, quality food and friendly service. read more

I was on my way to get delicious Korean food at the brand new BBQ + Rice Korean BBQ Bowl near the Ralph's on Sunset in Hollywood when I passed another restaurant that seemed to have popped up out of nowhere: AL Basch Chicken. Always a big fan of Middle Eastern food, I took a look, thought it was worth a try and mentally bookmarked it for the future. Fast forward to the future, which I think was the next day--curiosity got the best of me. I went inside and immediately spotted a familiar face: Maurice, who used to be at Roro's, which has been my neighborhood spot for solid Lebanese food for a number of years, had left that restaurant and opened AL Basch. I've now been to AL Basch three times. It's got a lot working in its favor. First, it's super close to me--I can walk there in barely five minutes. Second, it's clean and comfortable, with roomy tables, a couple large TVs playing sports, and nice restrooms. (Seriously, yay for nice restrooms. So many restaurants don't have them.) Third, everyone working there is super nice, which makes for a very welcoming environment. While obviously it helps when they know you at a restaurant, my observation from their interaction with other customers is that everyone is made to feel welcome. I hear you: that's all very nice, but you can't eat ambiance (well, unless you're standing in a gingerbread house...). In my three visits, thus far I've tried the chicken kebab, the mixed kebab plate, and the veggie combo (falafel, baba ghanouj, stuffed grape leaves)--all of which are accompanied by pita, salad and hummus. The kebabs were excellent--tender and juicy. The falafel was better than many of the others I've had in town, and I enjoyed the grape leaves. I also got to sample their fried kibbe (think beef inside what I'd equate to a hollowed out falafel shell), which was quite a delicious surprise. They have a light hand with the fryer, leaving both the kibbe and the falafel both feeling fresh and not nearly as heavy as I worried they could be. I enjoyed the hummus and baba ghanouj as well. In general, there's a freshness to the food here that makes it feel both healthy and flavorful. Now this isn't to say that AL Basch necessarily does everything better than everyone else. Glendale's Adana, at least in my one visit, had kebabs that made me want to say "holy *#@%!" Nobody does hummus (or maybe anything) as well as James Beard winning chef Mike Solomonov's Zahav (well, his Dizengoff almost does, but those are both in Philadelphia). But when I want a reliably excellent Middle Eastern meal at reasonable prices in Hollywood/WeHo, it's sure looking like I can count on AL Basch to be the spot to go. My FAVORITE Mediterranean spot in LA! My fiancé and I come here at least once a week and it never disappoints. The food is amazing and always fresh. My fiancé usually gets the chicken schawarma wrap and I get the mediterranean salad with a side of babaganoush or falafel. Hands down, this is the best Mediterranean spot in LA. I used to work in Hollywood and made sure I stopped here at least once a week. It was the best part of the week! The meat is always cooked to perfection with loads of flavor and the hummus is my absolute favorite. Even the salad they give you is awesome. The family that runs this place is also amazing. They always remember me and my brother when we come in and make sure they ask how everything is. First time trying this out based on a friend recommendation. Prices are very fair to an extent and food is good. I ordered the chicken kabob plate. Chicken was kind of fatty, I'm guessing they use dark meat and not the traditional breast meat which is typical for chicken kabob. Rice was very good and so was the hummus. The tabouleah was good but the bulger was very hard. Tabouleah isn't supposed to have a hard crunch to it but the flavors were spot on. Would definitely come back. read more

This is the best kabob in la HANDS DOWN. Even better then the "upscale" Lebanese places. BLOWS them out of the water. They are also soooooooo nice. This place was sooo good! Mediterranean food is my favorite food and I've tried so many places and this was one of the best I've had. It's a little hole in the wall with amazing food. My group got the chicken kebab plate, falafel and the combination plate and everything was so delicious. It was one of the best falafel I've had and my chicken kebab plate was so delicious! Went here for dinner with a friend and it tastes amazing, lots of it is fresh and made in house which is a nice touch. Price was reasonable but the sandwiches were kinda small for my preference. My only complaint is I wish the fries were crispier (we popped them in the air fryer again) and the sandwiches were a bit bigger. But over all taste, time and price were 10/10 read more

Al Basch food is always on point but have to give a special shout out to the late night crew on Monday July 31st. I'd just returned from a long road trip and placed my order about 30 minutes before close. The team went above and beyond to get me the hottest, freshest food with a smile. This place used to be my Fav places in LA But i am forced to change my review due to 2 reasons. - extreme price hikes - drop in quality and quantity along with the hikes I have been visiting this place for 5 years now and can say there has been a 40% increase from prepandemic to post pandemic in the chicken breast plate. Was my fav but the steep increase in price has forced me to stop purchasing that item Chicken kabab sizes has decreased significantly Chicken sharwma has had the same fate. I understand everything is expensive due to inflation- but a 30-45% jump in prices is NOT justifiable anymore. I ordered 4 different items so I could get a sense of how well they make their food: one falafel, one kibbeh, one chicken shawarma sandwich and one beef shawarma sandwich. KIBBEH: not the most authentic but damn delicious. So delicious that I didn't mind it was a bit cold on the inside. FALAFEL: solid. CHICKEN SHAWARMA PITA: solid. The garlic sauce and pickles in the sandwich were on point. They also provided pickled turnips on the side, which I generally prefer in the sandwich but most places in Los Angeles don't even carry them so I was just glad they were available. BEEF SHAWARMA PITA: I was still hungry so why not? I'm a monster on a mission. So, I usually prefer beef shawarma to chicken shawarmas but not in this case. Everything on the menu is amazing. The chicken is seasoned to perfection! Every time I order from here I HAVE to get the chicken kabob and chicken shawarma plate. Mmmmm sooo delicious!! I also ordered the kafta plate which is bursting with flavor. Al Basch has to be the BEST Mediterranean restaurant in LA, hands down. have been coming to the same neighborhood in Los Angeles for seven years. I usually get dinner at the supermarket and eat it in my car. Because I have been trying to eat more Mediterranean, my eye caught this little sign in the corner of sort of a not great mini mall on Sunset Blvd and Fuller Ave. It was buried in the corner and nearly invisible. I've actually seen the place before, but because of the location I never really checked it out. I decided to take a chance and walk in. What a great place! The food was OH MY GOD delicious! I ordered a Chicken Shawarma and a tea and it cost $19. The place was super clean, the staff was extra helpful, and the bathroom was gorgeous. They even had toum (garlic spread) to go with the chicken. I love toum! As I was leaving, I told the girl, Norma, how wonderful I thought the place was, and she gave me a free falafel. Even just a side salad was quality. It wasn't iceberg lettuce or some crap. It was mixed greens but not like the cheap mixed greens. It was like herbs and flavors and had a really delicious dressing over it. The grape leaves were divine, they're probably some of the best grape leaves I've ever had. They are so fresh and delicious and so acidic and yummy. I tried every one of the empanadas, and they were all delicious, fried perfectly, insides were hot, juicy yummy. Everything was made so fresh. All the sauces were delicious nothing was store-bought. Everything was made from scratch and it is exactly how it should taste. This place cares. My mom and I spotted this place after leaving Bossa Nova in a state of disappointment. We tried to see what the hype was all about but it was just that - hype. So don't believe it. Any who, as we walked down sunset we spotted Al Basch to the right. I'm a stickler for ratings so I googled the place and saw that the reviews were almost perfect. We came in and my mom being my mom, she spent half an hour browsing and tasting the menu. Jose, who helped us, had all the patience in the world. He let her try the beef and the eggplant. He was very nice. Overall, the food was on point. It tastes very clean which is important. I got the chicken plate and enjoyed it all. The flavors were perfect and you get a good amount of food for the price. The French fries were fresh. And what I love most is that the restaurant is very clean and looks clean. read more

I Ordered the beef tenderloin and chicken kabob skewers through doordash yesterday for dinner and it was amazing! I love how the hummus is light and not heavy on garlic. The cuts of meat are lean as well and very filling. The pickled turnips are delicious as well!
