I'm here to review their tea service at lunchtime and it was in the Alexander steakhouse. I would say that out of all the tea parties that I've been to and they're well over 50. I'm sure, this was the best one I've ever been to for one thing, they served coffee and that just thrills me because I don't like tea. The ambience was so lovely with the fireplace in the steakhouse vibe. They had the goodies on three tears, and it was such a unique shaped tea serving platter. The service was impeccable. Everything tasted so good especially the baked scones. Everything was absolutely beautiful. We had a lovely time and I think it was only like $65 so it wasn't even that expensive highly recommend going for the tea service check out all my pictures.

We are a frequent Alexander's steakhouse patrons but haven't try this San Francisco location so we decided to try it first impression was a bit underwhelming ambience was not steakhouse like the other locations compared to the old location on Brennan Food was also not as good as before n did not provide Bread basket either. For a tap of $1200.00 plus it was definitely a little disappointing

TL;DR: The Alexander's Steakhouse that I used to know is back. Over the weekend, we had a family dinner at Alexander's steakhouse for a birthday celebration. Our group included aging parents and children who only like steak + bread + fries. Given our group size (5 adults and 2 children), we ordered some of my favorites as well as trying the specials offered during the evening. The hamachi shot is still as refreshing as I could remember. The hokkaido milk bread is still as soft as I could remember. The heirloom tomato & nectarine salad is a very lovely summer starter to have. The oysters were served with fermented bluberry vinegar - the younger adults at our table liked it while our older parents couldn't get over the fact that they just had raw oyster with blueberry. haha! The grilled octopus got an updated twist. The uni pasta portion looks small for the price but then I remembered the pasta was listed under the starter section, not the entrée section. It's a delicious and beautifully presented uni pasta. My husband said it's the perfect size as a starter but I definitely want more. In terms of the meat, we ordered imperial tomahawk, the Hokkaido ribeye cab (special of the evening), the Australian Wagyu filet, miyazaki wagyu, and also a regular filet mignon. We did it family style so that everyone could try a little bit of everything. The tomahawk is everyone favorite. It's not just packed with flavor, it's so tender that she enjoyed the steak fully even with her denture. Filets usually are the one that seniors can only eat but she end up having 2 big slices of tomahawk. And my wagyu lover father enjoyed the rich ribeye cab very much. The Australian Wagyu is the perfect medium. I highly recommend tomahawk if you are with a large group! For the side dishes, we went with their classic: creamed spinach and their famous truffle fries. The kids finished the entire bowl of fries :P The tomahawk really wowed my parents. However, we were all impressed by the dessert from the evening. Their website somehow doesn't include a dessert menu. So part of me wondered if they still offer a dessert at all... or if they just bring some cakes from the One65 instead.... (or maybe we get lucky and get something from O upstart.. haha!) We tried most of the dessert offerings from the night and they were all delicious and perfectly executed. I think the pastry team from other floors definitely contributed because the tart crust from the parline tart definitely reminded me of the lemon tart we usually get from this building :P The parfait with grand marnier is like their version of baked alaska - the meringue was browned with the grand marnier flambe at the table side. It's definitely a showstopper! The mixed berries was the perfect summer finish if you want something light. The yuzu custard was perfect with the mixed berries sorbet and a beautiful mixed berries sauce. But my favorite is the chocolate dessert (I forgot the name..) but it's this thick decadent chocolate torte - it's a lovely sweet finish for any chocolate lovers! And of course, we can't finish a meal at Alexander's without their signature finish: COTTON CANDY!!! :D it's the pina colada flavor and we managed to finish 2.5 cotton candies out of the 3 given to our group. The lychee and rose chocolate bon bon and the milk nougat were the final sweets we received for the night :D The team took care of us really well. We all had a very pleasant experience at the new location. I visited their Cupertino locations for so many times in the last 15+ years and also their old SF location several times before the COVID. I had date nights, business dinners, friends gatherings, and even girls night out at the Alexander's Steakhouse in the last 15+ years. In my memories, Alexander's Steakhouse has always been this one big high-end steakhouse. So part of me felt like it's the end of an era seeing the SF location moving from the previous location to the small space in Union Square. But I also believe this could be an opportunity for the restaurant to thrive again in the challenging downtown area. Although the new location is small and intimate, we as guests don't have to worry about parking anymore when the O'Farrell parking structure is just next door :) Can't wait for our next visit in the future!

I'm so happy with my return to this steakhouse. Thank you Patrick for the great service and the warm conservations. I was seated quickly and received my cosmo with ease. Tasted great! I ordered the yellowtail sashimi for an appetizer. Although I thought the eggplant overwhelmed the taste of the fish slightly, it was presented well and it was fresh, I also ordered the Shiga Ohmi steak (3 oz). It was cooked to perfection and presented with pickled cucumbers and 2 salts. I loved it! The wines I had were great. The pears/chocolate were difficult to eat. I had to "dig" to find the pears. Everything was clean and I highly recommend this new location.

Stopped by to try their signature wagyu tasting menu. It was a well crafted menu that was very wagyu forward. I really enjoyed the wagyu caviar app. Truly, all is the dishes were excellent, even the desserts. The only thing missing was a bread service. At 185 for A5 wagyu, it's a steal. Service was friendly and well organized. Looking forward to trying other restaurants in the building!

Came to Alexander's for restaurant week and enjoyed the experience! A 4 course meal came to $90 pp but we still felt compelled to add in some extras. We began with the Hokkaido milk bread with three butters. If you're looking for that flavor punch, the black sesame or yuzu butter will really meet that need but if you're seeking that more nuanced elevation, that wagyu butter was...chef's kiss. It had an unctuous beefy quality to it and was remarkably rich. We also shared the wagyu charcuterie platter. We all had our own favorites on the plate so it worked well for the group! For my restaurant week choices, I started with the wagyu rillettes, then the butternut squash soup, the steak frites, and a carrot cake. I liked the uniqueness of the rillettes but my favorite course may have been the butternut squash soup. It was smooth and creamy and I really enjoyed the addition of the roasted pepitas. For the main, I did add in a diver scallop and the bone marrow to my steak. The steak itself was just okay in my opinion. It lacked a crust and was a little light on seasoning (but the fries over compensated on salt). The marrow added a delightful beefy butteriness but the real star was really that scallop. Mine was cooked perfectly! When it came to dessert, I thought my carrot cake was pretty good! All the piped elements were delicious but the cake was just a hair bit dense for me. When it came to service, it was great. Staff was attentive and the sommelier helped us make a great choice for pairing. All in all, glad I tried the OG Alexander's, but if you want my true opinion, I think their "sea" option is far better.

Alexander's Steakhouse is a total win if you're into high end vibes and seriously good steak. The place blends classic steakhouse style with a cool Asian twist, melt in your mouth wagyu, creative sides, and some next-level starters. I was here with my girls to celebrate our birthdays! The service is top notch and the attention to detail really shows. It's definitely a splurge spot, but perfect for date night or when you want to treat yourself. Just come hungry you'll want to try a bit of everything.

I went here for one of my birthday celebrations recently and had a reservation here. It was on a Saturday around 8:30pm and the restaurant didn't seem too busy at that time. Once we got seated, we were quickly given our menu and a warm, moist towel to wipe our hands before ordering. Before the meals started coming, they surprised us with a small shot of Mushroom Consommé drink (it tasted like a mushroom soup). We ended up ordering the Yerba Buena Cocktail, Hokkaido Milk Bread, A5 Wagyu Charcuterie, Truffle Fries, Mashed Potato, Premium Prime 18 Ounce Ribeye, Japanese Miyazaki A5 Wagyu, Flavored Cotton Candy, Pistachio Honey Cake w/ Chocolate Drizzle, Wagyu-Fat Pananccio w/ Salted Caramel & Raspberry Patonbini. The Flavored Cotton Candy, Pistachio Honey Cake w/ Chocolate Drizzle, and Wagyu-Fat Pananccio w/ Salted Caramel & Raspberry Patonbini came in a set because it was part of the birthday dessert. All the food was very good, but some portions were smaller than what I expected. My favorite item from this entire meal was the A5 Wagyu Charcuterie. The variety of wagyu slices ranged from a wagyu with a more smokey flavor to a ham type of flavor. I love unique food items and charcuterie boards, so that was basically like a 2-in-1. The only issue I had were the mashed potatoes since it didn't taste that special. The mashed potatoes was like a thin purée type of texture and I tend to prefer a thicker consistency. I'd recommend this place! They sell a wide variety of items and many of the items includes some type of steak ingredient in it, which I felt it made it unique. The customer service here is very good too and I loved how they explained each item and the ambiance of this restaurant is very classy too. Some portion sizes here are a bit small though.

I had such a pleasant time at the steakhouse. I got the butternut squash soup, the 8 ounce fillet with mashed potatoes and a Matcha crème brûlée for dessert. I'm not a big beef eater so I don't order steak too often but I figured since I'm at a steakhouse, I might as well. Tasted pretty good but I wasn't wowed by it. I think I should've gotten the fish option instead. However, the highlights for me were the soup and the dessert. They were both so good and so flavorful. I've never had a matcha crème brûlée before! Our service was really great and the servers were very friendly. Overall, a wonderful time and would recommend for any steak lovers.

In order to actually secure a reservation, I had to book a year in advance. So, if you want to dine here, you must plan and commit to dining here far in advance. As you'd expect for a place with such a name, the vibe is very old school SF. Dark colors and lighting with lots of wood paneling. I'd kind of be disappointed if it didn't have such an old timey feel to it. We ordered a couple of drinks at a table that opened up by the bar, as we were quite early for our reservation. I ordered a lemon drop and the hubby went with a Moscow mule. The lemon drop was tasty (my current go to cocktail), and they also give you the shaker with the extra. Very nice way to start. We were seated at a two top in one of the seemingly endless number of dining rooms. Our server, Alberto, was incredible. He was warm and friendly and made our first visit to HOPR, extra special. Early on, I communicated to him that I was lactose intolerant, and he was so very helpful and knowledgeable. He immediately recommended subbing out the creamed spinach with sautéed spinach instead. And he assured me that there was no dairy on the salad. I so appreciate when severs can help me navigate around my lactose intolerance. Once again, as you'd expect, the menu options are only which prime rib cut you want. There's nothing else for entrees. There aren't even any appetizers. The accompaniments are standardized: salad, baked potato or mashed, creamed spinach, and Yorkshire pudding. They also start you out with fresh, hot bread, which was so great, helping us soak up the generously poured cocktails. I went with the English Cut, which was thinner, and my husband opted for the House of Prime Rib cut, a thicker cut. Everything was so excellent and flavorful. My husband even ate the salad, which is really remarkable. Dining at HOPR is an experience. They put on a show with your salad by adding ingredients to the salad bowl set over ice and spinning it around. Or when the chef carves the prime rib from one of many metal carving stations throughout the restaurant and then plates your dish right in front of you. Or when the sever cuts up the Yorkshire pudding or adds the toppings to the baked potato on a tray beside you. So much fun, and I very much appreciated this entertaining aspect of the dining experience. We had such a wonderful and memorable time at HOPR. I've already planned our trip for next year. It was worth the wait, and I'm looking forward to returning!

I had a flight of their amaros and loved them all, followed by some excellent cocktails that highlighted their products. Dinner menu is designed for sharing/family style. Everything was delicious and creative. We started with their crispy chicken skins, a bitter lettuce ceasar, octopus salad, and their duck confit with a surprising corn couscous. Our server was excellent, with full knowledge of their spirits and lots of guidance for tasting. Loved the bright comfortable dining room, with a bit of vintage flair.

Very much appreciated that accommodation. Everything on the menu sounded delicious and tasted even better. There was a special with homemade focaccia, ricotta, pesto, and eggplant + tomato tapenade. I could have eaten a bowl of every ingredient individually, and together they were even better than the sum of the parts. We also had the curry chicken croquettes, citrus caesar, confit octopus, and gnocchi - all fantastic. And the drinks - next level. I had the Sam Fernando and it was dangerously drinkable, I had to order a second. My partner's Bird of Paradise bamboozled us with its clarified coconut milk - so wild to drink something CLEAR that tasted so much like a piña colada! Our other two party members had NA drinks that were also nuanced and delicious. I will very eagerly come back whenever I have the opportunity!

I brought my mom on a day trip up to SF to watch The Odyssey in 70mm IMAX at the Metreon. We had…read morealready ate a nice brunch at Kantine before the show. I wanted to take her to one more nice place before heading back home. Chef Tyler Florence's Miller & Lux next to the Chase Center in Mission Bay seemed like the best option. Parking was a bit challenging, as the spots across the street from Miller & Lux were five minute passenger loading only after 6pm. So I had to park in the stadium garage, which took about 10 minutes to find a spot and walk all the way back to the restaurant. From the moment we were escorted upstairs from the bar area, the service was top notch. Very congenial and accommodating. More importantly, my mom felt well-taken care of by the staff. They gave us our choice of a central booth or smaller table next to the expansive window overlooking Mission Bay. As we are both light eaters, we decided to share an order of the Filet Mignon and Tableside Caesar. After the soufflé-like bread puff and butter appetizer, the salad specialist rolled up his cart next to our table. He got busy mixing together mustard, Worcestershire sauce, shaved Parmesan, and several other ingredients then tossed it with neatly trimmed lettuce. Finally, he topped each salad with candied Meyer lemon, more shaved Parmesan, thin croutons and plump anchovies. There was also lemon zest dashed around the rim of the plate. I ate each leaf while instead of cutting it. Seemed easier that way. It had a nice balanced taste and was one of the better Caesar salads that I've had. The Filet Mignon was a bit rarer than the medium rare we requested. It had almost an Akami tuna like texture inside, which is not what you'd expect from beef. Possibly some aging broke it down to make it that smooth. They were very accommodating to take it back and fire it on the grill a little longer. It came back with the perfect amount of doneness. The horseradish sauce we added gave each bite a nice cream and spicy kick. We had an ode to the now extinct Orange Julius' signature flavor, orange and cream in the form of a soft serve sundae topped with a sugary macaroon and tart tangerines. It definitely brought back some memories. Thanks to the staff for making dinner for me and my mom a pleasant and enjoyable experience with their hospitality. For an upscale steakhouse and seafood establishment with exceptional service, Miller & Lux is a great option in the City.

We were greeted by the sommelier who opened up the wine bottle we brought and also made some recommendations. She also brought over the champagne cart and I started the evening with a glass of the Collet Brut which was crisp and refreshing. A perfect palate cleanser to start off with the appetizers. The complimentary pop over is still one of the most delicious treats ever! It was brought over with a classic butter and a flavored butter that were just to die for. Now of course, the caesar salad is still a must here!! Prepared tableside this is part show, part experience, and full flavor bomb. I love watching the dressing come together and the freshness of every ingredient being used. Just the aroma of the olive oil and parmesan cheese is amazing. The Caesar salad was dressed to perfection and perfectly crisp! Also got the oysters, because they were an absolute knock out the last time we were here. And still one of the best! It is quite literally the cleanest and freshest oyster I've ever had. Our waitress did an amazing job of explaining the whole menu in great detail. For dinner entree, we went with the ribeye, served with bone marrow to split between 2 with a side of the mac & cheese and accompanied with creamed horseradish to give the steak an extra kick. To be honest, that steak needs nothing extra. It is "melt in your mouth" tender and extremely flavor. I love the addition of the bone marrow because it enhances the richness of the steak. The mac & cheese is also very indulgent and rich. We were way too full for dessert so we went with a ball of the espresso gelato and were given complimentary carrot cake bites which were soooo gooodddd. I wish I wasn't full because they're pastry chef is the best! Hands down the place for a 5-star lux dining experience!
