I was here near the end of June 2023. They have a private parking lot by the restaurant, but the ramp to get in is very steep. Drive carefully! I felt like it was a busy dinner spot even on a week day. The indoor dining area was full, and other bigger parties were waiting in line. They were able to offer me a table outside under the awning. The menu here is very extensive. I had such a hard time deciding on what to eat. I saw that a lot of other customers were ordering drinks in addition to the food. I decided to try the Hong Kong style milk tea and a chicken cutlet. The food was so good, or maybe I was really hungry. Regardless, I can see myself coming back. My family & I had dinner at Alice's Kitchen last Sunday. At around 6pm, the casual restaurant was very busy. The private parking lot was full, so we parked on the street nearby. The inside of the restaurant was packed. Also, it was a super chilly evening. Initially, the staff seated us outside to the left of the restaurant entrance, which had many open tables under a large white canopy, but no other party was seated over there. There weren't any external heaters by these tables, but to the right of the restaurant, we saw some heated lamps near the tables. After bearing with the cold for a bit, we requested to switch our table to the right of the restaurant because we saw one of the tables getting cleared. Thankfully, the staff accommodated to our request. Finally, we were seated warmly and ready to order. Service was short, but quick! We ordered the Beef Fried Rice, Ovaltine French Toast, Seafood Curry with steamed rice, and Wonton Noodle Soup with egg noodles. There was so much hot food, and we were very full afterwards and had leftovers to take home. One of my faves was the Ovaltine French Toast since it was my first time trying such a dish; I thought it wasn't too sweet and I loved the milky center! My other fave was the Wonton Noodle Soup; I've had many variations of this dish in my life, so I was just looking for a comforting bowl of soup for a cold night and it did the job. Also, I wanted to try the clay pots, but the menu stated that they take about 30 minutes to prepare. We were on a time crunch, so we skipped the clay pots for now. The vibe is lively here. it kinda feels like to me - a Hong Kong version of a popular American diner. As for the menu, it seems like it has a lot of Canto classic staples on it, but I can't say for sure. I came in during the week on a cold night so I just wanted something warm and comforting. I ended up getting a pineapple bun egg sandwich with the pork chop and some congee with preserved egg and pork. I also got a hot tea as well to wash everything down. I thought the pineapple bun and pork chop was really good, although I would've liked my pork chop to be slightly more crispier or have more of a sear on the outside. The congee was great, and it was exactly what I was looking for in that dish. In terms of service, I would say it's fine. The issue for me here is that I wasn't too familiar with the extensive menu so it was a little intimidating, and there was really no one there to really help me with it because I think there was a slight language barrier. It also feels like one of those places where you really have to wave someone down for the check or anything you want, which is fine to me but just know that coming in. I would say do your research or kind of know what you want coming in and it'll be a lot smoother. Now that I have gone already, I could do a little more looking into it before another visit. First, I don't understand why this place has a 3.7 stars rating. It seriously deserves at least a 4 stars. My friends told me this place is basically like Delicious Food Corner. In fact, the original people/owners who started DFC sold the name/franchise and then opened Alice's Kitchen using the wife's name (maybe they got bored after selling DFC). So the menu and food is the practically the same. I took my parents and my son here on Labor Day for brunch. We arrived at about 10:30 am and man, this place was packed. We put our name on the waitlist and needed up waiting 30-40 mins to get a table. I'm usually not a fan when a restaurant is busy like this b/c you know why? The staff ends up being really impatient and annoyed b/c they have to work that much more when it's crowded so I was expected for terse if not below average service. But to my surprise, service exceeded my expectations. The wait staff was prompt and also very courteous. We were seated toward the back of the indoor seating by the exit door so service wasn't as attentive once they got our order and our food arrived. My dad had to try really hard to flag them down for his free refills and he really wanted those free refills. :P Congee was delicious! As a breakfast special, it comes with a choice of hot/cold coffee, tea, lemon tea, or lemon water. Unlike DFC, they don't charge extra if you opt for the cold option for your drink. Between my mom, dad and me, we shared two congee breakfast specials (fish and pork kidney/liver) and we still had some congee leftover to take home. The fish congee was $12.25 and the pork kidney/liver one was $14.75 (a little pricey and the kidney was over cooked but my parents liked it and said it's something that's hard to make at home due to the prep and cleaning of the organs). My son got the grilled chicken and spam/egg (with fruit cocktail salad) breakfast special, which also comes with a drink. When it came, it was a lot of food and we'll worth the ~$15 for it. I would definitely come back and a bit torn as to coming back for the breakfast or to try the lunch items. Not a bad problem to have though! I've had this place mentally bookmarked for a long time but usually missed the window of opportunity to go. I was determined to finally make it, even after what looked like a long wait on Sunday after 1 pm. Make sure to scan the QR code at the front entrance to get yourself on the wait list (no need to flag down any employees and no need to stand around to wait). The wait list is pretty cool in that it automatically updates your place in line and how long you've been waiting as well as how many parties (and their size!) are in front of you and how long they've been waiting. Their inside dining area is a bit small and they've expanded dining capacity with two outdoor seating areas, so there's a high chance you'll end up dining outside. I do prefer indoor as the outside dining table didn't look too stable, but I appreciate that the outdoor space allows them to serve customers faster. We tried quite a bit and loved it all! We had the HK style pineapple bun with butter ($4.25), pan fried fish filet sandwich ($8.50), fried chicken wings and squid in spicy salt ($11.99), Ovaltine French toast ($6.95), black pepper beef fried noodles ($12.95), iced milk tea ($1.95), and iced lemon tea ($1.95). Great fast-casual HK style food and snacks! This place is always poppin so I would recommend for a quick meal or catch up whether it's for a small party or large group. There is indoor and outdoor seating. Ambience is casual and reminiscent of a HK cafe. When we arrived ~2pm on a Sunday there was no wait whatsoever! Service is fast casual like I mentioned. Since this restaurant has been on my to-eat list for a while, I suggested it to my friend who was visiting me (especially influenced after seeing it on LA Infatuation's article about restaurants that'll make you fall in love with LA again) [1]. She thought the food looked good, so we decided to go for a late lunch/early dinner. There's a smallish parking lot next to the building, but there weren't many cars, so we easily found an empty spot. However, I can see the lot getting filled up quickly during busy hours. A patio with outdoor seating sits between the parking lot and front entrance, but we opted to eat inside. Since it wasn't quite the dinner rush yet, the restaurant wasn't super busy, and there were many open tables. We got directed to a booth. I loved the fun decor inside. Vibrant colors (like the yellow chairs and bright orange dishware) filled the interior, numerous posters were plastered all over the walls, and TVs played Chinese shows. The front of the kitchen looked like something out of a movie. Because we were super hungry, we ordered: * HK style noodle in soup ($15.25) The dish's components (base, noodle, and toppings) can be customized according to your taste. In our case, we chose: * HK Dan Dan base * Flat rice noodle * Beef stew (+$1.50) * Beef tripe * Curry fish ball * Seasonal vegetable I wasn't a huge fan of the base's flavor. It was okay, but I would probably try the regular base next time. Be sure to mix the base into the broth. I loved the flat rice noodle's texture and its chewiness. The beef stew was so tender and flavorful with a little bit of fattiness. The beef tripe was chewy and tasted great (but I also really like tripe in general, so I may be biased). I wouldn't get the curry fish ball again since I don't think the flavor went well with the other ingredients. The entire dish was covered with a thorough sprinkling of sesame seeds. The flour rolls had a fun, bouncy texture, but I didn't care for the taste. I don't really like peanut butter mixed with savory foods, so I wouldn't order this again. * 18. Fried chicken wings with spicy salt ($12.25) The wings were perfectly fried with a crispy, crunchy outside and a tender, steaming hot inside, so be careful when biting into it. The dish was salty and slightly spicy; you can turn up the heat if you eat the wings with the jalapeño bits. * 24. Jumbo HK style pineapple bun with egg ($10.25) This order allows the customer to choose from a large selection of proteins. We ended up going with the pork chop since it appears to be a crowd favorite. It was a bit messy to eat, but I can see why it's a must-order dish. Spinach with preserved egg and salted egg in broth ($14.50) Trying to make our meal a little healthier, we ordered one vegetable item (this cancels out the calories from the other dishes, right?). It's fun to get the sizzling steak (you can't beat the price if you like red meat lol), the thick toast with sweeten condensed milk and peanut butter, the rice dishes in the clay pots, and the Hong Kong Style Milk Tea. The dining room has been remodeled since my last visit and reminds me more of a Hong Kong cafe. Most staff wore a mask covering their nose and mouth along with tight nitrile gloves. There was no line at opening but a line slowly formed for indoor dining towards 8:30 am. Had the beef brisket wonton noodle soup and it was decent. The beef brisket was tender although extremely fatty. The wontons were decent although a touch bland. I think Delicious Food Corner has a better version of this. The noodles lightly blanched and the broth was on the crisper and clean side. The hot milk tea to go is a huge cup. Requested less sweet and it came out as such. What a wonderful place! It came on a Saturday night, and the inside was full, so we promptly sat outside. This Cantonese-speaking family-style restaurant warmed my heart with its scrumptious, pork-centric, Hong Kong-style dishes. You know I had to get the greens, so, of course, I went for the snow peas, but of course, dou mieu was sold out.. as always. So my friend suggested we get boiled spinach with egg in broth. It didn't sound appetizing, but I'm always willing to try new things, and this dish was lush, green, full of color, and soupiness and brought my soul joy. Our usual dishes include tomato pork chop rice, beef chow fun, honey garlic pork chop, braised tofu, and string beans. They must have great chefs because the food is consistently good. Came here for their HK style peanut butter french toast which did not disappoint! Delicious with condensed milk and also a good price. Not many places have it anymore as a large brick toast and I wanted my boyfriend to try it which he enjoyed. Pineapple bun sandwich was delicious w/ a friend egg but a little too oily with a lot of it dripping it onto the plate. The porridge came with side of the soy sauce noodles which tasted really good and authentic just like the ones at a dim sum restaurant. But the iced coffee milk tea was not strong enough for me personally. You join a waitlist online via QR code when you get there. Wait time was 30 min on sat at ~10:45am (Mother's Day weekend) which was a relief because breakfast ends at 11:30AM. It was faster than I expected since there were so many parties ahead of us. I love having breakfast at Alice's Kitchen!!!! There's a huge variety of options to choose from on their breakfast menu (front AND back, Chinese + American style) at extremely reasonable prices. My fave are the soup macaroni and pineapple bun (with a huge piece of butter smacked right inside). The service here is great - fast and friendly. It's always crowded here from breakfast to dinner time, so that speaks volume about the quality of the food. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating. :) Highly recommended! read more

Really disappointed. Was a long time customer and loved their old menu. Waited over half an hour only to find out that their menu has been completely changed at this location. Most of the Chinese family style dishes have been removed. No more fried noodles, fried rice, XO sauce fried rice noodles, etc. Like the other Yelpers, I will not be coming back until they bring back the old menu. It's not worth the wait and not the food I know and love. I don't see this being HK style anymore. It's a shell of what used to be. What's up: My coworker told me about this place and all about their authentic Hong Kong breakfast. We decided to try it out one day and found out how popular it was. Come early or get on the waitlist as soon as you can! Parking: Parking was tough! The small lot was packed full of cars. Go for street parking, there's plenty of that. Environment: Busy, busy, busy! Signs are posted with instructions on how to get on the waitlist. Once you're up, report to the front and you'll be led to your seats. In addition to the seating inside the building, they have expanded out to have outdoor seating. We were seated inside the building and the decor just screamed Hong Kong; the look and feel of things made it feel like we were really there. Staff members were busy, but they stop made time to check up on us and refill our drinks. Restrooms are clearly marked with the yellow curtains. What was ordered: - Sampan Porridge with Chinese Donut (yummy) - Jumbo HK Style Pineapple Bun Set with Chicken Steak (huge! The bun was very tasty) - Jumbo HK Style Pineapple Bun Set with Pork Chop (huge and tasty) - HK Style Noodle in Soup: Satay Base, Egg Noodle with Beef Tripe, Pork Blood, Pork Skin, Cuttle Fish Ball (noodle texture was on point) - Steamed Flour Roll with House Special Sauce (yummy) - Hot Lemon Tea Yay/Nay/Meh: Yay. I was pleasantly surprised at how delicious the food was. The wait is a bit long and the parking situation can be hit or miss, but when you have yummy food like this, it was worth it. My favorite time to go is during breakfas/lunch. Few things I always order is the pineapple bun with butter, pineapple bun with grilled pork chop sandwich, Ovaltine French Toast, Stiry fry rice noodle with xo sauce, BBQ Pork with rice. -I love the Pineapple buns, by itself or with the pork chops, love the sweet and savory taste and the buttery texture. -Ovaltine French Toast- this definitely brings back my childhood memories with the ovaltine drinks! (IYKYK)- buttery brick toast filled with condense milk and ovaltine. on the sweet side but super delicious -Stiry fry rice noodle with xo sauce.- always been a fan of rice noodle, and xo sauce is just goes well with every dish, topped with some of my fav. toppings bean sporuts and geen onions. SO GOOD! -BBQ Pork with rice- this may sound basic, but filled with the taste of Hong Kong. BBQ pork is sweet and tender, perfect amount of fat, mix the sweet soy sauce along with rice. - delish! Dinner menu is great, they have a lot of family style entree and HK style dish. The Claypot rice is a must order, usually takes about 20 mins to make once the order it put in. Baked rice / pasta dish like the baked pork chop and spinach filet with cream sauce are highly recommended. They currently expanded with a outdoor patio along with the indoor seating. However, It does get busy and always expect a wait time if you go on the weekends. They will have to sign in on the ipad to get on the waitlist and text you when your table is ready. I'm so sad to say that Alice's Kitchen removed all the delicious famous fried dishes, and now... there's not as common dishes without photos/descriptions, so us non-canto speakers are lost. I'm very disappointed because I've come here for many years and it has been my favorite HK cafe. But they don't even have the twice-fried noodles anymore or fried beef chow fun. I saw previous reviews that said they had the beef chow fun, so I tried ordering that today, but the waiter said they no longer make beef chow fun? I hope it's a mistranslation. I also hope there's an explanation of why all the fried dishes were pulled from the menu. My strong suggestion: add photos to the menu, because I was so lost that I spent 15 min googling everything. read more
