New brewery in Long Beach! I am a huge fan of brewery and my friend brought me here to check out this new spot! First of all, if you love Nutella then you need to get their Nutella but beer. It has a hint of Nutella but definitely a chocolate taste. Second, I appreciate a brewery was has food and especially if their food is delicious. We ordered pizza, the buffalo sauce cauliflower and their sliders. Everything was delicious, so order everything off the menu. I am not a wings person but the couple next to us ordered some and the smelled so good, definitely getting some next time. Service was great! They have two options which you can have a waiter or you can order at the bar. Bar even serves hard liquor drinks, so you can both a beer and an old fashion. Seating, there is so much seating everywhere! They also have another section that they haven't open but are looking to open it once they get more people. I also noticed that there was tables reserved so if you are expecting a large party I would say call ahead! Cool spot, definitely coming again! My coworker wanted to try their pizza here so we stopped by to grab a quick lunch to go. There was a sign that states we need to order with the bartender and there was no bartender to be seen so we stood at a table until someone came up to us. We each placed our order for 2 slices of pizza and it took almost an hour to receive. It was well into our lunch and by the time the food arrived, we had about 10 minutes left on the clock to eat. I came here waoting at the bar waiting for someone to attend us. 4 women are at kiosk having a conversation, after a couple minutes of waiting, I ask if we could order 2 beers. She's says yes, and continues her conversation at the kiosk. Waiting another 5 minutes and the 4 women talking at the kiosk, I become upset cause honestly what the heck??? My boyfriend goes us to ask again and someone new finally helps us, but it was like if we were a bother lol.. considering they are in the clock.. Altar Society has been on my list for a while now and I was so excited to finally go and visit. I had messaged a week prior to our visit asking about oats in their beers since I have an allergy. Unfortunately for me, brewers are starting to use oats more for mouth feel/flavor and it's not common knowledge with servers. I got a quick reply back, there were 2 they knew of that had oats but to ask our servers when we arrived and they would know the rest. When we got there, I let Chase know the situation and he asked his partner, she listed off the common ingredients in beer and said beer doesn't have oats. Chase pulled out a binder and had 4 recipes but the rest he had no clue if it had oats. I purposefully reached out ahead of time to avoid this and was very disappointed. We got Oktoberfest since it was safe and it was good but service was very slow and disorganized. Operationally this place is kind of a mess and we won't be back sadly. The food was amazing! Our server was Kelly and she was so sweet and helpful. We came with a family of 5. I got the sliders and they were so good. We finally tried this place out. The three floors itself is lovely with the exposed brick throughout. We ordered pizza and beer because HELLO! You stand in a makeshift line to order then get a number for your server to find you. Hope they get beepers instead to help the severs out. Amazing place and even better hospitality! I communicated with Jon via IG a week before celebrating my birthday here. I wanted to confirm if they could arrange a reservation for 20 people, and they did! Although I was an hour late (sorry, I'm just a chill girl) they were still super accommodating! My party ended up being over 25, yet they still found a way to accommodate and serve us all in a timely manner (don't know how they did it, superhuman perhaps)! This was a great weekday night friends date! The servers were friendly and I was greeted shortly after walking in. The bathrooms are clean and everything inside looks pristine with a rustic feel. Extremely spacious and far from crowded. There are tables and bar seating throughout. My friend and I ordered the mac 'n cheese + fries to share, the veggie pizza slice, and Italian sandwich. For drinks, we got the Tango and Tropical Golden. Everything came out fairly quickly and we enjoyed the shareables (with the help of some red pepper flakes). The drinks were both so good! The flavors were phenomenal, deliciously fruity and crisp. My veggie slice was incredibly light and thin, which I was able to appreciate all the more paired with the heavier appetizers. It went down nice and smooth with the IPA. We had a great time hanging out here and the ambiance was extremely relaxing and chill. Our waiter was awesome and everyone working here seems so friendly. Had a little staycation weekend in Ling Beach and dropped in on Altar Society while out wandering the town, and we were totally blown away! The spot does some great beers--I really liked their Temple of Tartness sour, and Dark Rituals Long absolutely blew me away--and the two staff we interacted were laid back, but knowledgeable, proud of their beers, and more than happy to make recommendations. I like to consider myself up on the SoCal beer scene, but had never heard of Altar Society. We will CERTAINLY be back! read more

The space is great and I really really wish I liked it more. The exposed brewing equipment with views into the basement levels and exposed bones of the building are incredible. Unfortunately I've been here several times and it's just ok, nothing more. The beer consistently doesn't seem to change much and I haven't loved any beer that I've had here. Service seems consistently not good. Last visit there I asked if they had a scotch for a friend and they told me Bullet; which is obviously a bourbon and not a Scotch, and no effort was made to see if there was something else even when I asked. Time before that I was told I didn't have an open tab, when I did, and then I was double charged with added on gratuity to both for failure to close my tab. I settled this with my credit card company, so no big deal in isolation. A couple more minor annoyances with service prior to these. Food is just ok. Pizza isn't very good, but, it is still one of their best items. Better pizza right across the street at Baby Bros. Pretzel balls were hard and cold last time I had them. Cookies are by far the worst food they have; absolutely disgusting and worse than packaged store bought cookies. The space is great and it is awesome to have more things open in downtown LBC. But, I really only go here to meet people that are already there and not by choice. I've waited a while to write this hoping their food and beer would improve, but, it just hasn't. read more

1st of all i would like to say i REALLY wanted to try this place out, especially since i have my bday coming up. my bf had tried calling and no one ever answered. emails were even worse. We just wanted to make sure how we would go about making reservations for a party of 15. we decided to walk in, and literally the same level of "customer service" that was given while trying to contact them, was felt...because no one helped us at the brewery either! we walked allllll the way in, no one bothered to even offer a hello. we went to the bar, NO HELP. waiters walked around us, & still NO HELP or even a greeting. i really wanted to try you guys but im so sorry, the level of unfriendliness wasnt there for me, i know one customer isnt going to bother your business but damn all a girl wanted was a bday reservation for all my friends! everyone else looked really happy and it seemed like they were having a good time tho! read more

This place has such a chill vibe. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by the friendly staff. The interior of the brewery is amazing. Big open space with plenty of seating and everyone inside having a good time. Our server room our order promptly and had our drinks out to us within minutes. We had the chicken zingers 10/10, they are definitely made fresh in house. The Pizza was massive and delicious. I recommend the Just and True pale ale to complete your meal. Came into alter Society for a nice lunch bite before our event tonight and was super excited to discover an amazing stout that blew my mind away. I got the blueberry lemon lavender seltzer. It's nice has some more heavy lemon taste so if that's what you're going for definitely get it. It's super delicious anyway but if you want a nice stout( if it's still on draft) then I would recommend getting the darkest rituals. It is the most amazing stout I've ever had in my life! Mike was so great at helping us decide what beer was right for us based on what our preferences were. Coming into it I thought the food would be OK since it's just a brewery, but the food ended up being amazing. I got the single patty slider, and my boyfriend got the double patty slider with avocado. The tots and fries are both delicious and well seasoned as well as the sliders were so delicious! The bun was so soft, the meat was seasoned perfectly. Everything came out great and as a ranch girlie, the ranch is so good! I also tried their pickled eggs, never had them before, but definitely would order again! read more

First thing is the parking sucks. That's a given in the area. And they took forever and a day to get this place open. But it is truly a beautiful space to have a good beer. I tried their Dark Rituals stout and it was one of the better stouts that I've had. It was so flavorful and refreshing. I didn't have any food but the pizza looked good. They even have a space in the back where they sell coffee. I went on a Sunday and it wasn't crowded which is a plus. I wish nothing but good things for Altar Society. read more

This brand new Beer Brewery in DTLB is super chill. They have everything from fresh Lagers, IPAs, Double IPAs, Stouts, and Seltzers. During the soft opening last week they had really tasty sliders, pulled pork sandwiches, wings, buffalo cauliflower, pizza, and chicken tenders. Customer service is very attentive with awesome hospitality. The owners graduated from Wilson High School in Long Beach back in the day so you can tell they really care about this city and all of this City's diverse community. The food we had was as good or better than any food I've ever had in a brewery, anywhere. The bread on the sandwiches was fresh, with a tiny bit of chew but not too much. My wife's meatball sub was gorgeous. The quality of the pizza blew us away. The crust was perfect: not too soft, not too crispy. I washed it all down with a coffee stout, which was good but lacked punch. I wanted some more malt, or coffee, or something, anything. But I would recommend to people who don't love stouts, as the mild flavor and smooth trip were easy to drink. We will be back! read more
