I've only had the sandwiches here and I've always gotten them to-go, so this review is based on those experiences. The sandwiches are excellent! The bread is always good, the produce tastes very fresh, and they have lots of options to choose from. Staff there is very friendly, and the decor inside is nice. Some time I'd like to eat in and try some of the other options. The star off is based on service. It can take a longggg time to get your order. Each time I figure we'll need to wait at least 15 minutes for our order. I think the first time I came it took 30 minutes to get two sandwiches, but it does seem like they're getting faster. We've also learned to double check everything. The last two times I was here, they gave us the wrong sandwhich, and the other time charged us for the wrong meal. Even with these things, the food is good enough to keep us coming back! read more

This place makes great food SOMETIMES!!! If they can get an order correct two times in a row I might die of shock. Just got a cheesesteak that was completely wrong. Ordered salmon pasta for my wife only to get home and fine the FORGOT to put the salmon in it. Dutch crunch ?? NOPE! Guess when I say Dutch crunch I meant sourdough. Kids grilled cheese!?? Apparently they can't even get a grilled cheese right?!?! They do make good food, this place would be 5 stars if they could get one order correct ffs. We went for lunch today. My wife had a cheese burger, I had a #6 sandwich, salame, capicolla, prosciutto, and mortadella with Godfather sauce. We split a small order of fries. My wife thoroughly enjoyed her burger. Her verdict, good ground beef properly cooked to order. I loved my sandwich. The fries were frozen but not coated with texture and flavor "enhancers" of indeterminate origin. Next time we'll probably skip the fries, not because they were bad but because they were overkill. The 2 sandwiches were more than enough. It was a busy Saturday lunch and it took us a while to get our food. We got there just before additional staff came on. You order at the counter and they bring the food to the table. Service was fine. We'll be back. It's a one off mom and pop kind of place with no pretensions. The sandwich names are a little too cute but I think the staff doesn't mind if you order by number. The food is good. One negative is the Frank Sinatra themed background music. It all comes from the period between the end of WWII and Elvis. It's educational for people who had never heard factory produced pret a ecouter pop music without autotune, but if you've already experienced the Mitch Miller era you probably don't want to revisit it. read more

I really wanted to like this place and we were so excited to try it out, but I came away feeling so disappointed. We came here at 5 pm. The inside of the restaurant was really nice, but the air conditioning was either not on or not working and since we're currently in a heatwave, it was overwhelmingly warm in here. They had one fan on, but it was facing only towards one half of the restaurant. We were excited to give their sandwiches a try, but were quickly disappointed to find out that their extensive menu on the wall is only available until 4:30. Bummer. We were handed their very limited dinner menu and it took me awhile to find anything I even wanted to try. Our party of four ordered a chicken Parmesan, two orders of la famiglia tetrazzini and a child's spaghetti with meatballs. The chicken Parmesan came out 10 minutes before the tetrazzini. And then the child's spaghetti came out 7 minutes after the tetrazzini so we didn't feel like we really got to eat together. My son only ate the chicken from the chicken parmesan and left a full plate of the spaghetti part. He said the chicken was chewy and dry in parts, but edible, and that the spaghetti tasted like cafeteria spaghetti. The tetrazzini was disappointing. I thought it was supposed to have some sort of sauce on it, but there was none and it was watery. I hate to say it, but it really reminded me of some of the Healthy Choice frozen pasta dinners. My daughter took one bite of her spaghetti and refused to eat the rest. My husband was going to eat one of her meatballs, but opened it to find it very reddish pink inside. Uggh. It did not look cooked nearly enough. I really feel like we threw our money away at this place. Including tip, it was $90+ for four people and after that I still had to make my daughter something else to eat. Given what the prices are, I would've expected more. The prices run about the same as Strings, but I enjoy strings pasta and food way more and for the same price it includes bread and soup or salad. I don't like that I'm the first to write the first bad review for this place and by all means, I'm not trying to stop anyone from trying it. Perhaps we would've been happier had we gotten to try a sandwich off their lunch menu instead of coming here for dinner. read more

This is a new place - just 6 months old. Maybe it will mature into a better experience sometime in the future. I've been looking for a decent pastrami sandwich in the Tri-Valley area without much success. I stumbled onto this Americano while browsing through Yelp and the reviews and pictures looked good. What really motivated us to try was that while they are noted as "deli, sandwiches, Italian food" I found Arancini in the pictures and on their menu. These are deep fried risotto balls filled with marinara, cheese and other goodies. We loved them in Italy on our various trips there. So, we jumped immediately into action as it looked/sounded too good to be true. My wife and I went for lunch and it looks like a small Italian cafe. But, the lunch menu is mainly sandwiches and couple appetizers that include the Arancini. So, we ordered them for appetizer and she ordered a Philly Cheesesteak San and I had #21 (the "Fred" sandwich - Godfather Sauce + pastrami + Mozzarella cheese + slaw). I asked about the sauce and was told that it was a spicy, garlicky spread on the sandwich roll. OK, I went with it. 1. The Cheesesteak was very salty. 2. The garlicky sauce overpowered the pastrami. And it was wrapped tightly in food service paper like you would a take out sandwich and cut in half on the diagonal. This made it a bit inconvenient to eat since the paper had to be peeled back as you ate the sandwich. 3. The Arancini tasted right/OK but the risotto inside was barely warm while the outside was nice, hot and crispy. And the risotto was a bit 'runny'. I expected the rice to be still identifiable as individual grains but gently cooked to a nice soft, tender but creamy texture. In Italy (all parts North through South) these are sold by the individual balls and are eaten by hand like a snack so they are a bit firmer. These Arancini would have resulted in a mess if eaten as a handheld snack. BTW, Arancini means "orange" in Italian because they are the size and shape of oranges. We had high expectations but these missed by a bit. They weren't bad - just not up to par with what we had in mind. Also, the service was a bit slow. They weren't that busy but it took a while for our food. Arancini should have all pre-made into balls and only need to be deep fried. The sandwiches should have come out quickly. On the plus side, the staff is nice and the prices are reasonable for the quantity of the dishes and the coffee is very good! And a little tweaking of some details would make a huge difference in the quality of the experience. I hope they will improve with time! Jim read more

Their menu is robust and their two signature sauces (godfather sauce and mob sauce) are both killer. Yesterday I went to the Americano. My companion and I were delighted in the menu and the décor. The music was delightful. The service was anything but. . . The waitress forgot to put down my entrée. She was nice but totally a ditz. She couldn't remember my beverage order and I had no entrée. My companion had already eaten his and I was left going home with no meal. I love how they are a great tradition american/Italian deli during the day with huge burgers and Philly Cheesesteaks. But at night they turn into a amazing dinner place with absolutely amazing food. My wife and I had the bruschetta as an appetizer, I had the chicken parm and the chicken was perfectly crispy, flavorful, and a huge portion! My wife had the Chicken Marsala and she said it was the best she's ever had! We also had the calamari, very good! She could handle the amount of tables there were. Especially since it was so close to closing time. She has issues multitasking. Several tables waited for their bills, food, and boxes. What was worst was observing the other tables she got their orders wrong or forgot to put them in. Like mine. Our food came out and I asked where mine was. She looked at me with confusion. Then it hit her....she forgot my lasagna. No discount, lots of "I'm sorry". I had to wait another 15 mins before I got my food. Very disappointed in the service. We have only been here twice since they first opened. The first time was during their first week. So I pushed it aside as them being so new. Second time...not good!!
