Mexican breakfast bowl
Vipula G.

I have no idea why it's taken us over a decade to discover this hole in the wall taco place ! Their el pastor tacos and breakfast burrito bowls are the closest to anything I have had in Mexico City. We have grabbed food there twice in two weeks - and I know this is my new comfort food ! Also special call out to their potent habanero salsa - smoke will literally come out of your ears - and it will be worth it!

Breakfast burrito. $14. Not shareable.

Love to support a mom and pop! Been a several years since I worked nearby. Famous breakfast burrito good but definitely overpriced for what you receive. Service was quick and the cashier was friendly.

Famous Breakfast Burrito (super)

One of my favorite breakfast burritos, no doubt about it. The way they smash the egg into the tortilla means always getting the right portion of eat ingredient in every bite. In fact, we started making our breakfast burritos at home the same way, we love it so much. The sauce inside is also delicious: just the right amount of spice and adds a ton of flavor. Staff is always friendly.

Came here for dinner and was pleasantly surprised. It's an order at a counter and there's about 4 or 5 tables inside (there's more outside). The service was very fast to get our food (didn't wait for more than 10 minutes) and it was pretty decent! We split and got the combination plate and the wet burrito. It was so much food that i didn't finish my half. The combination plate has enough of everything and plenty of onions with your protein if you're a fan. The wet burrito was HUGE!! Only complaint is that is really is just a lot of meat. I would like have loved if it had more veggies or something inside, but i don't think that's what is advertised on the menu either so you really do get what they list!

Torta de carne asada

It's a solid place for Mexican food it's a little pricey but it is really good I got the torta de carne asada and it was delicious!

I'm in town on another review and being from SoCal originally I needed a quick fix this morning with Mexican food. Specifically a chili relleno burrito. Now I'm a carnivore but this burrito has always had a place in my heart. Today was absolutely not a disappointment!! The burrito was great!! All the ingredients were fresh and added in perfect ratios! I'll be stopping at several restaurants today to review but I have to say I might just sneak back here tonight and get another for my plane ride tomorrow! It was that good!! The staff is very friendly and the food is prepared quickly. The salsa given was good as much as I was hoping to sample from their salsa bar which was empty.

Lengua, El Pastor and Pollo tacos
Chelsea C.

Ordered online, very convenient to pick up. El Pastor taco is very delicious, full of flavor. Lengua is good too.

I love this place for one reason: their creamy habañero salsa. It packs a punch like no other. Other patrons are equally addicted to it as I am. Since Covid, they have greatly reduced their hours and not posted updated ones on Yelp. You can't close at 3 o'clock on a Sunday. Hire another crew that gets a weekday off if you feel like you need to go home at 3 on a weekend. Lame. The search for my new replacement Mexican restaurant begins...

Way overpriced !!! It's beans , grisly asada and pork. Should be like $6.00 for their burritos instead of $15.00 !

Probably the worst Mexican food in the area...hatting it. Wow, I can't believe how places like this are.

Great food quickly. Natural spice even without added salsa. They have gluten & dairy free options as well!

The workers didn't use gloves when handling the food - they used their bare hands. Will be reporting to the health department. Super gross.

As for the food/drinks, the happy hour was such a great deal. We got to try the mushroom choriqueso (which was our favorite item), Al Pastor tacos, taquitos, shrimp ceviche and two Mercado margaritas. All of this for about $70! Everything tasted great and came out super quick too. Service was absolutely amazing. Everyone's always checking up on you, making sure you're doing okay and there was never a time we were waiting on anything too long. (Note: this was on a Saturday at 5pm happy hour during the Brazil game) Definitely would come back!

What makes it worse is that this is not our first time with Mercado. We've been fans since the original location near The Grove and have been coming to this South Bay location for a while. We used to order takeout and dined in regularly and in the past the experience was much better. Unfortunately, that is clearly no longer the case. The service was atrocious from start to finish. We waited far too long for everything, including drinks. A single Tecate took about 30 minutes to arrive, which set the tone for the rest of the night. Nobody checked on us, nobody seemed attentive and we spent way too much of the evening just sitting there waiting. The food was equally bad. The carnitas nachos came out cold. The steak taco was rubbery. The fish tacos were incredibly dry. The birthday fajitas were also dry and underwhelming. For a place at this price point, there is really no excuse for food coming out like this. The overall atmosphere also felt off. What used to feel lively and welcoming now felt neglected and poorly managed. It was especially frustrating because this was supposed to be a birthday dinner and instead it turned into a long, overpriced, disappointing experience. It genuinely breaks my heart to write this because we have a long history with Mercado, but after this visit, we're done. There are too many better options in the South Bay to spend this kind of money on bad food, bad service and an overall miserable experience.

She was attentive to our drink orders, kept our table clean at all times, and made us feel very welcome. Our group shared several different dishes, and everything was delicious. My friends and I had been traveling all day (I had driven over 6 hours), and the last thing we…read morewanted to do when we arrived in LA was to search for a restaurant. We were staying near LAX and I didn't want to drive too far, so we stumbled upon this Mexican spot in the cutest little downtown area ever. El Segundo, you are THAT b*tch! We arrived around 5:30 on a Saturday and were seated immediately (thank goodness). Our server was super duper friendly and even had multiple conversations with us throughout the meal, sharing anecdotes and talking to my tattoo artist friend about getting a tat from her LOL. We quickly ordered some chips and queso (not free) and were blown away by how creamy and tasty the queso was. The tortas were also delicious and easy to scoop a lot of cheese on to. On to the menu, they had a good variety of Mexican dishes, but the price point, man. I thought $4-5 a taco at Barrio Queen in Arizona was steep, but this place charged $7-8 for a single small taco. I would've been okay with any menu item since it's Mexican and nothing under that cuisine could be bad, but seeing each enchilada over $30, made me steer clear of the main entree dishes. I also knew I wanted to try fish tacos, so I just opted for one fish taco and one grilled taco, with a side of mashed black beans. Crazy that some black beans also were at least $5. The fish taco was nicely battered and the guacamole was ripe and creamy, but the grilled chicken taco was nothing spectacular. There was also cauliflower tacos and beef brisket tacos ordered among us. My friend who ordered the beef brisket taco rated it 7.5/10, whereas the cauliflower tacos were rated 9/10. The food also took at least 20 minutes to arrive at the table. Both sauces my tacos came with were extremely spicy so I didn't even touch those. My friends enjoyed their meals, and the side of green rice two of them got was rather tasty. Overall, our server was the best part of the experience. She really ate DOWN, whereas our food and the price point did not.

You may need to walk uphill a bit. It is right next to the Manhattan Beach Pier and there are great places to walk. The food is amazing. We love all of it, but their enchiladas with rice and beans are the best and they make a great burrito. They also have super guacamole and their beverage selection is great. So like yesterday, I decided to stop by and grab a burrito, but unfortunately, this will be the last time. I usually visit this location with my dad. He's been coming to this location since before I was born and I'm damn near 40. But this time I came alone and the place was packed. They don't have a big seating area. It's like a bar with about four seats to the right and four seat seats to the left so it doesn't accommodate many people, so people order to go. And that was my plan. I walk in and the server (with his chef at and money taped to it) and I grab the same menu. He allows me to have it, and he grabs another and gives it to one of the customers. I say all this to say that he definitely knows exactly when I arrived. However, A white man walks up less than a minute later and for some reason he decides to ask him if he ready to order, as if I'm invisible. This was the second time that this happened to me today and God knows how many times has happened to me in life. So at some point, I just have to stop ignoring the fact that Black people aren't welcome in certain spaces. Maybe we are by law, but not at all met with respect! That is all!
