We came specifically for dessert. We got two different ice creams, flourless chocolate cake and the pastries which were like mini donuts in honey. The seasonal ice creams were incredible!!! I got the strawberry and my husband got berry coconut. The strawberry was better in my opinion. Chocolate cake was pretty good, very thick and rich. Would return

After a trip to Busch Gardens, we were hungry for a big meal and this place did not disappoint. We wanted something refreshing after a hot day at the park and the salad was just that. It was simple but so fragrant and fresh it started off the meal so perfectly. I got the butter chicken and my partner got the chicken tikka masala and normally, and try his and let him try mine but we were in no mood for sharing because both were so delicious. The service was quick and the staff was so kind and attentive. The place itself was very chic and it perfectly if you want to dress up a little on a date night. The sweetest part was that I told them it was my partner's birthday, and they gave him a free dessert with happy birthday written on it. I didn't know they were going to do that and I had already ordered some Gulab Jamun to end the night with something sweet. When we go back to Williamsburg, we will definitely stop by again!

The staff are awesome! We asked if they had any GF naan, and they created a chickpea version. I so appreciate the effort! I love the chicken hariyali lazzatdar...reminds me of korma and curry at the same time. The flavors meld perfectly! I get it nondairy, and it's simple delicious!! I also had the vegetable korma for comparison. It was good, but I like the hariyali lazzatdar best! We tried the karara murg, which reminds you of butter chicken, but with more wow factor. It was excellent!

Wonderful place to eat a delicious and very scrumptious dinner of Karara Murg, GarlicNaan, Crab Masala, House chai, and Gobhi Manchurian, Anch Chili Mango Shrimp!! The crab masala was chock full of tender, sweet crab meat!! The Gobhi Manchurian was spicy hot and delicious!!! The house chai warm and cozy!! Service is impressive and impeccable!! Highly recommend this place!!!

We didn't have reservations since we accidentally came across the restaurant. Was seated immediately and the aesthetics was very beautiful with every detail. Food was very flavorful and delicious! We got so many appetizers and entrees and everything was customized to our spice preference. Would definitely come back!

Amiraj is the perfect mix of contemporary, casual, and swanky. You can go here for a date night or in yoga pants and feel comfortable with either. The servers are very welcoming, and helpful. Our server made some great suggestions for our dinners. The wine list is extensive and the selection of traditional and modern dishes offers great options for all diets and palate preferences. My partner had the lamb vindaloo and I had the chicken tikka masala. The lamb was perfectly braised with the right amount of spice. The chicken was tender and the masala was the best combination of sweet and savory. We also had buttered chicken kulcha which absolutely did not disappoint. The sauce was very fresh and complimented the seasonings well. If you're in a hurry for lunch Amiraj has some great carry out lunch specials worth considering. Overall, a wonderful atmosphere with just as wonderful food.

This Indian food restaurant is excellent. Ordered appetizers and the Chicken tika masala which came with an excellent sauce and rice. The chicken was hot and the carrot, broq vegetables crispy... The house salad was also fresh. Service was prompt and friendly. Decor was impressive in a quiet classy way.

Amiraj is 1 of three Indian restaurants in Williamsburg. This and Marsala Cafe go back and forth being my favorite. What I love about Amiraj is the dinning room. It is uniquely decorated, clean, and large crowds don't cause it to be too loud. The menu has all the things Indian and they are tasty. Notably is that they have a nice craft cocktail list. The wine list is quite extensive and the wait staff is very attentive. So if you are hankering for some Indian you won't go wrong here.

A friend and I went to Amiraj based on a recommendation and the food did not disappoint! I have been to many Indian restaurants across the US and Amiraj's food was top 10 Indian food I've ever had at a restaurant. I would give Amiraj 4.5 stars as the service could have been improved (see below), but the food makes Amiraj worth five stars. My friend and I recently went to Amiraj for an early weekend dinner and were seated immediately. Despite the restaurant being mostly empty, our food (other than an appetizer) took 35 minutes to arrive from the time we ordered it due to many takeout orders that needed to be filled. While our server did not let us know about the delay until after our food came out, our server unprompted apologized to us and gave us a complementary gulab jamun for dessert. I appreciated that Amiraj acknowledged that they made a mistake and did right by us unprompted-it is a sign of a great restaurant. My friend and I shared the Chili Garlic Naan and the Rosemary Blue Cheese Kulchas and I got the Lamb Kozhambu at the five level spice. All the food was fantastic-the naan was warm, garlicky, and had a slight kick, while the kulcha was stuffed with the perfect amount of cheese. My Lamb Kozhambu was exactly the level of spice I was looking for (very hot-be careful if you don't have a high spice tolerance)! The lamb was tender, there was a good amount of lamb in the dish, the spices and flavors came through, and Amiraj provided plenty of complementary, well-cooked rice. The gulab jamun was delicious, and I liked that it was not too sweet and that the pistachio flavor came through. I would highly recommend Amiraj for a meal if you are in Williamsburg!

We were looking for a new lunch spot when passing through Williamsburg. Wonderful! Dale Malkhani and the mixed grill with nasal sauce were excellent. Naan was a great accompaniment. We love gajar halwa, and it was the perfect ending. We will certainly be back.

My first thought was that one comes to Williamsburg expecting like a vegetable pastie or…read moregingerbread or something, not Indian food. To be fair though, India and Williamsburg were both British colonies. Having said that, this particular Indian restaurant has a Goan-influenced menu, which is actually the historically Portuguese part of India. There is a lot worth trying. It was a pleasant setting with indoor and outdoor tables; given the rain and wind I sat inside even though the outdoor tables were covered. Spoiled for choice, I got a fairly straightforward lentil soup to start before ordering a more adventurous dish of tofu and mushrooms in an onion-heavy curry. They offered the option to order okra as a side dish, which I don't usually see but jumped at the chance to do. An aloo paratha on the side was quite filling and good for mopping up the curry. Salt was a bit excessive, particularly with the bread I think. The actual amount of tofu in my curry could have been more, but the flavors were abundant. My chai arrived unsweetened and with options to sweeten it myself, which I deferred on. A lot of people got takeout, but for a place to eat in and get a high quality and regionally distinctive meal, this place fit the bill.

Warm…read moregreeting at the door, comfortable seating, eye-poppingly bright décor against a dark background (also known as a 'wall,' or wallpaper, ha ha!) so it really stands out even more. The service was great, the food was delicious, the experience exalting. End result: relaxed, refreshed, ready to move on having been greatly nourished .... It was also fun to try some new things I had never had or seen before! That's always an added bonus when it happens -- and here, it did! I'd never seen 'Masala Papad' before, so of course I had to get it! It did not disappoint! I'd imagined the papadam being as they usually are -- flat -- and then in this dish that it would have some toppings on it, looking like a flat taco or a small pizza, but oh was I gladly wrong! Wow! Only thing is, I might be ruining this for someone else by taking away the joyous surprise! However, I understand that most people don't like a surprise as much as I do, so I guess it's okay to give it away. Anyway, these were super-flavourful and fun. I got the 'three' spice level. That's a wonderful aspect of dining here -- you get to choose your spice level, dish by dish. For the hot and sour soup, I got a 'two' spice level -- however I found it to be spicier than the two of the Masala Papad, and I'm guessing that's because, well, it's soup and so there is more of it closer together, rather than the air between pieces of various foods in the Masala Papad, and also the thermal heat of the soup probably elevates the feeling of spiciness. Another dish I had never tried was the Chilly Tofu. It was absolutely, spectacularly delicious not only in taste but the wonderful texture. In fact, I was so amazed by how good the texture was that in describing my delight, the waiter wondered if I had ever tried tofu before. I'd had tofu many, many times in my life in a large number of settings and so many different variations -- such as soft, pan-fried, deep-fried, in soup, skewered on a stick, served with all kinds of things -- but this particular tofu was just extra super-duper scrumdiddlyumptious! The three appetizers I ate filled me up enough that I didn't need anything else -- well, except chai, that is! -- so I didn't order an entrée, and will have to leave that for next time .... Might I add, it is an oasis from the heat and anything else going on outside ... and the dishes and drinks served here will also give your body more heat-fighting ability because that is the nature of Indian food! It's healthy! Not just nutritious but literally body-building -- including giving your immune system just what it needs .... Definitely, absolutely, certainly most highly recommended!

There was so much served it took me three meals to finish the whole plate. Unfortunately, the garlic naan was underwhelming. I have been to other Indian places that offer American mild, medium, hot AND indian mild, medium, hot. I think they realize that they are able to tolerate a lot more spice! I would say my meal was probably "Indian" mild. I realize spice is subjective, and I am a wimp! They offer a variety of different drinks in their cooler and they have a filtered water station. They do not offer ice at all. Our food came out very fast but was still PIPING hot and fresh! The customer service was excellent. The gentlemen at the counter was extremely nice!
