I ordered two salads online to be picked up curbside. This I found out meant I needed to walk up to the front door to pick up the order. Each salad cost almost $12.00. Both somewhat small. One was left undressed so stayed fine I'm sure. The other one was dressed and hence mushy, wilted, and looked inedible. As this was take out, to have been provided with some napkins and plastic ware would have been appreciated. This was not being taken home. Was meeting my sister at a park for lunch and a chat. Two out of four orders were prepared incorrectly (a sandwich had items on that we had asked to be left off, and my breakfast special neglected to include any meat as specified on the chaulkboard). The toast with the breakfast special was unbuttered (which is fine), but after three attempts to ask for butter and jelly - as well as the missing side of sausage - and being utterly ignored, I gave up and returned to my now cold eggs. Meanwhile, my eleven year old son asked if we could stop somewhere else on the way home because he was so dissatisfied with his sandwich - and my thirteen year old started to pick up and play off our increasingly negative vibe about lunch. He started to laugh about the Kraft Macaroni and Cheese that he received as his lunch. The owner was relaxing in the sitting area, despite three employees seeming completely overwhelmed by the dozen customers. She finally got up to assist, and asked if she could help us. I declined noting that our meals were not as ordered, it was too late to resolve, and that my three attempts to get up, go to the counter, and ask for help had went unacknowledged. She offered a ticket for a free drink on our next visit. Very, very, very poor service. Completely overwhelmed staff that was disorganized and thereby ruined our lunch. read more

Absolute worst customer service of my life. I have been in here before with my baby and have always been treated poorly, even though he's never cried or caused an issue. I guess they just don't like children. I noticed this time that they have a rude sign up in the back about kids. They should probably be a little more upfront and just put a sign on the door that says no kids allowed, but I guess then they'd get sued. Anyhow, this most recent visit took the cake by far. I was trying to order some avocado toast for my son since it's the only thing he can eat from their menu. The cashier told me we could order breakfast because it was 12:01 and they stopped serving at 12:00. Mind you we were in line 5 minutes before noon but there were a couple people ahead of us. I've never heard of anything so ridiculous over one minute. I called back to talk to the owner and she basically said it's up to whoever is working the register and she didn't know what to tell me. But they probably put the breakfast dishes away already? This is not true because I was there and did not see that happening, and they serve everything in the same plastic baskets lined with paper for breakfast and lunch. There are no special "breakfast dishes." Plus they have lunch sandwiches that have avocado on them. So I don't understand how they couldn't smear avocado on toast without the other items because it was 60 seconds late. This place seems to struggle with an identity. Formerly Peaberrys, it's now called Ana's Kitchen. Different name (and perhaps ownership), same problems. Ordered a basic turkey and avocado sandwich on multigrain which comes with a side of chips and a pickle. Pickle was completely mangled and one of the pieces of bread was the heel of the loaf. Sandwich was incredibly soggy but tasty enough. Does anyone look when they're plating? I mean, honestly, I know it's just a dill pickle spear but you really served a customer that thing that already looks half eaten? And plating the sandwich heel side down didn't fool me either. Love the vibe going on here! Looks cozy with a lounge area in the back and plenty of seating in the front. The dirty chai is a vanilla chai with a shot of espresso is sooo good! And the hubs got avocado toast which was also delicious. Took a little while to get the toast but it was fairly busy on Sunday morning. I am relatively new to Simsbury and I, along with my family, have been slowly trying all the local restaurants. Peaberry was on the list and having been recently told how great it is, I decided to try it this morning for breakfast. My observations: - For those that think this is a restaurant: It's not. It is a coffee shop with a very limited coffee menu, sandwiches and a few pastries. There is no table service here. - The interior is very clean with nice decor but is quite dark. The atmosphere would greatly benefit from a skylight over the couch area, or perhaps just better lighting. - The clientele appears to be mostly well-off baby boomers and their grandchildren. With my young, middle-class family, I felt out of place. - The counter staff was friendly, but seemed very frazzled and kept saying how rushed and busy they were... I had to go back twice and ask again for parts of my order they had forgotten. Meanwhile, about half the tables were empty and at no point while we were there were more than 2 people in line. - The food was definitely overpriced. $9 For a BLT with 2 pieces of bacon, one very thin slice each of tomato and avocado, and a few pieces of lettuce! The 'sandwich' was almost entirely bread. No chips included either. Almost $7(!) for a very small portion of EasyMac and a pre-packaged applesauce for my child. I was equally disappointed with my milky iced chai, which was clearly made from packaged mix and also not worth the price. We will not be going back here. I would much rather spend my hard-earned money at Harvest, Popovers or Truffles, all 3 of which I love. Those places have similar pricing, but with table service, much better, freshly prepared food with reasonably sized portions and local ingredients. I'm not from here (CT) but they use coffee from my home state (NC) for drip I am a big fan of Counter Culture. Yum. They also have oat milk as an option instead of regular milk. Peaberry's is a fine spot to grab a bite to eat if you're out visiting some of the local spots. We stop here usually after a day of hiking up Talcott Mt. for some rejuvenating treats. The atmosphere is casual, with tables set up in the front, and a very nice back area with comfortable couches where you can sip your coffee, eat a scone, and read a newspaper. They have a nice assortment of freshly baked goods- muffins, scones, donuts, pastries- all displayed in glass covered plates. They also have a menu of sandwiches for those looking for heartier fare. There are an abundance of hot beverages available to order- coffee, teas, lattes, etc. The staff are pleasant and attentive and the food is prepared to order. All in all, a nice place to stop during your day to enjoy some tasty treats! read more

My latest Yelp! jaunts have had me in Simsbury quite a little bit. I was optimistic pulling into Peaberry's - a tad overoptimistic, unfortunately. Initially, walking in the front door I was impressed. The interior is gorgeous and the ambiance would be great for a quiet lunch with friends, or a businessman catching up on work. If I ever remodel my home, I'd probably steal some of their ideas!!! Then...I tried the food and service. A simple turkey and avocado sandwich. No rocket science here, folks. But it started with the clerk. He seemed like a soon-to-return-to-college kid that couldn't be bothered talking to me. He finally did...then rang up my order, and took his sweet time going to make the sandwich, too. Oh well...thankfully I am salaried and wasn't in a rush. The sandwich was decent, but the turkey came in these huge rolls that kept falling off the bread. Made a mess. For the price point, all that could be justified was the atmosphere. A quintessential coffee run. Firstly, Counter Culture Coffee is some of the best in the game- so you're going away with an amazing cup of coffee. The atmosphere is welcoming and bright- it's a place you want to be. I don't think I have ever wrote a negative review before on Yelp but this place deserves it. The only reason why it received even 1 star was because of location and being close to the bike path with outdoor seating. For approximately 8 - $9 per sandwich you were served toasted Wonder Bread with sliced Deli meat, a slice of cheese and the bottom crumbs of a bag of potato chips. The club sandwiches have one clump of bacon in about a quarter of the sandwich. To sum it up this place will not be in business for very long. read more

Recently relocated from route 10 to farms village, they have transformed the old Manny's pizza shop into an inviting, comfortable and cozy destination. I would highly recommend their salads, which are full of flavor and can compete against any top rated restaurants. In fact I would say that they are better than the majority and it won't leave you hungry 1 hour later. The sandwiches are solid as well, but I'm a bit of a stickler for the bread so I wouldn't rate it as high as the salads. That said, I would recommend giving the entire menu a shot. read more

I used to love going here when it was Peaberrys and even early on after Peaberrys was taken over and renamed. However, it has gone even more downhill. The coffee is subpar, the food and baked goods section has become severely limited and bland, and even the atmosphere is not the same. It's a shame, because it was one of the few good coffee shops where I could go and feel a local vibe and energy, chat with some locals, and enjoy doing my work. As you are waiting in line to place your order there is no menu anywhere in sight, there used to be a big menu behind the counter so you can decide what to eat while you're waiting in line. There are menus at the register but then you have to rush to decide as you near your turn. Also, the person taking your order is apparently also the Barista so the line moves painfully slow. My friend and I were at the register for 5 minutes while the cashier/order taker was making drinks. We ended up walking out. This was during the busy lunch hour! read more

I've tried it enough times and at enough different times of day and the service never great. Specifically they seem disgruntled, don't bring menus, food or the check with any regard to time and have a very odd way of trying to speak to you as little as possible. I went to Peaberry's Cafe a few time during my pre-Yelp days and always left feeling less than satisfied. Located in a weird same plaza as Fitzgerald's market. I love the idea of having free wifii but for some reason the food wasn't all that great. I usually got hot tea and carrot cake. I don't ever remember the experience being memorable. The food menu seems overpriced for the quality, and it just doesn't seem like a place you would trust to make you a fine, satisfying meal. It's one of those in-a-rush-drop-by, last resort kinda places. It fails to inspire confidence. Furthermore, the layout is confusing and disjointed and the decor is generally generic. One cool thing about this place is that it hosts an open-mic night. I believe it's on Wednesday evenings at around 7pm. 2nd visit to this place and I'm just shocked by the negative reviews..... my coworker & I LOVE this place. There are several cafes here in West Simsbury but we drive out of our way to pick up lunch. I've had the Turkey Avocado On Ciabatta & my coworker had the Apple Ham Panini. Both delicious, generous portions and menu is easily viewable online. I stop into this cafe on a weekly basis and am always met with a warm greeting and smile. I absolutely love the healthy food options that are available to me (try the avocado toast with S&P...so simple, but delicious). Also, the coffee is great. I always order the non-fat latte. I always notice large groups of friends meeting here for social gatherings and coffee. I myself have enjoyed sitting in the comfy leather sofas in the back and doing some work. Peaberry's is near my parents' house, so I often find myself there when home for the holidays. The menu is definitely a bit pricey, but I feel as though I'm paying for a local. My biggest gripe with the place is twofold: the seating, while plentiful, is a bit odd and uncomfortable. The place ultimately really lacks good character--except for at the back of the store, where there's a nice little fireplace nook and some comfy armchairs. Secondly, the hours are strange. Randomly, the shop closes early once a week. Quite frustrating. I disagree with the reviewer who found the food unappetizing. I think it's quite delicious, but yes, overpriced. Really enjoying this undressed salad... This was my first visit since it changed owners. Went in for lunch since it is convenient to my office. I ordered half a sandwich (BLT) and half a salad (Southwest). When my name was called, my bag looked wrong for what I had ordered. When I looked inside there was a soup. I told the girl at the pick up area and she went back to the cashier. For some reason, the cashier rang me up for a soup/salad combo. They fixed the order and apologized. Ok, no problem. It took a couple of extra minutes but wasn't a big deal. When I got back to work, the BLT was almost missing the L and the salad had no dressing on it. read more
