Not a fan! I used to like coming here for an occasional coffee and treat. The girls at the counter were so nice! But....since changing everything has gone down hill!! Went in to get a coffee and curdled milk was poured into my coffee. No Thanks!! I decided to give them another chance, big mistake! I Went in one day, strong smell of sewage, apparently toilet was overflowing all night into the kitchen area. They remained open!!!!!! What!!!!! Never will I go in there again unless it is closed down, revamped, and under new ownership who knows how to run a business. read more

We go to Ana's frequently for their breakfast egg sandwiches. They are well-priced, filling, and easy to grab-on-the-go. Their other sandwiches are pretty yummy too. I wish the prices were a little lower for the lunchtime sandwiches. The coffee is good and the staff is very pleasant. Their compost cookies are great as well. Definitely worth a visit for a coffee or a quick bite. Pleasant atmosphere. read more

Finally decided to try the place... but they politely unwelcome me to dine in because they're closing in 10 minutes. It was 5.45 PM and I know this place closed at 7 PM, the door sign says so. "Just so you know we're closing in ten minutes" "Oh I thought you close at 7" "We just changed it to 6" "well never mind then". If you decided to change your business hours, pick up a pen and paper and stick it on your door. No wonder the reviews of this place is average. read more

Walked in and never greeted, ordered 2 standard breakfasts (with generous tip), long time before food arrived, eggs overcooked, 1 piece of toast, potatoes dry, no free refills on coffee, never checked on, expensive, and no thank you exiting = never going back (too many other options). read more

I have taken many friends to Peaberry's Cafe. We can sit in comfort on couches and chat while we have a wonderful meal or "coffee and..." I just had a mango smoothie there because it is quite a hot day. But in the cool weather it is warm and cozy. I have also gone there to relax and chill while having a latte and even reading one of their books from the classy bookshelves. Oh yes, the open mike night! A friend played his guitar there and had invited his friends. We had a wonderful evening. I feel lucky to have such a place handy. I don't live in this town but I will make a special trip. Pretty good coffee probably on-par or a notch above Starbucks. They have good pastries but not that great lunch or casual food. The staff is pretty slow and oftentimes rude and almost reminds me of a Portlandia episode. I like to go if shopping at Fitzgeralds, but otherwise would rather just go to Starbucks down the street. read more

Wonderful cafe! My family enjoyed a lunch here; the coffee was great and all of the sandwiches/panini were delicious. There was a plethora of baked goods available, too - cookies, cheesecake, danishes - if you are only looking for a simple coffee/pastry date. The barristas were kind and patient, and the atmosphere was very friendly and welcoming. Plenty of comfortable seating, inside and out. I would not hesitate to return here. * Don't Expect Any Reasonableness Or Consideration Here * I recently perused the Hartford Courant's list of the best coffee shops in Connecticut. When business took me to northern CT recently, I thought I would try one on their list: Peaberry's. Yelp says they close weekdays at 7:00. Their website says they close weekdays at 7:00. The "Hours" printed right on their door says they close weekdays at 7:00. But when I arrived there at 5:15, their doors were locked. Strangely, 4 or 5 employees and/or owners were standing there in their matching black t-shirts, watching me attempt to open their door to enter. None moved, motioned, or did anything except stand there. All their interior lights and their sign's light were still lit. And there was no sign on the door saying they had decided to close hours early. I checked Twitter to see if this establishment has a feed, and they do. There was a Tweet that was sent out about an hour earlier saying they would be closing at 5:00. But no explanation, and nothing like, "Sorry for the inconvenience." This rude Peaberry's place expects us to believe they care about their customers? How it ever made the Hartford Courant's list of coffee houses to try is beyond me, but that Courtant review must be taken with a plethora of caveats. - Phil read more

The only problem with Peaberrys is the owner. She would benefit her business by staying home and letting her friendly and capable staff do the job. She treats the customer as if she is doing them a favor by waiting on them. She yells out your number like she is annoyed and can't be bothered. I have always heard that she is very hard on the staff, hence the permanent help wanted sign on the door. I have only been there twice but probably won't return. I had a salad which was good but don't feel like supporting a business woman who is rude to her staff and customers. UPDATE: Under new management!! I have been to this cafe multiple times. Food and drinks are wonderful- They always have a seasonal drink/latte special that is tasty and fun to try. The employees are usually nice. But the good ends there. I have observed the owner multiple times being rude to her staff. Very unprofessional, especially in front of customers. Also, the owner has been rude to me personally when I asked for a "blended" chai(basically just an iced chai dumped in the blender)- she snapped at me and said they dont do blended drinks. Maybe I used the wrong term, and that was confusing to her but it was not nice to treat a customer like that. She could have asked for clarification as to what I meant.... I wasn't being difficult or rude or snobby. I will not be returning to this establishment read more

I had a bad experience and left a one star review. The owner had reached out to me and without me asking had made a full refund to my credit card account. I am very happy with the way the owner has handled the situation. Hopefully there will be some sort of retraining of the employees so customers will have a good experience. read more

A great location right near the center of Simsbury and most importantly the food is delicious and the variety is great.

I've been going to this location for about four years and am sad to say that my last visit was disappointing. The space was dirty. The food was haphazardly prepared. The bread on my BLT was barely toasted - still white, not golden. The lettuce (which really should be iceberg) was skimpy. On the other hand the bacon was crunchy, melted in my mouth, and the portion was generous. Too much mayonnaise that squirted out the edges of the sandwich. Then there were the sides, ugh the sides. Served with my BLT was a pickle and chips. Sodium overload? The pile of potato chips was huge but it seemed that most of them came from the bottom of the bag and were about the size of a quarter of a chip. The pickle was also generous though not memorable. Unfortunately it hadn't been well drained and the pickle juice made my chip crumbs soggy. I'm ashamed to admit that I worked my way through a substantial number of those chips which brings me to some marketing advice. Most customers at lunch are women. Most women are at least conscious of calories. If my side had been a few grapes or some slices of fruit I would have likely treated myself to a cookie. But since I spent all of my calories on the chips there was no going back for a cookie. As for the cleanliness. In the 40 minutes or so that I sat there no one came by and cleaned any of the tables that were littered with crumbs and straw papers (BTW - do we really need those plastic straws?) When I went to bus my dishes the trash receptacle was absolutely disgustingly dirty. The bakery display needed some upkeep - crumbs swept away and selections needed to be rearranged. I want this place to succeed under its new ownership. I love going in there and seeing friends. The location is so convenient and the atmosphere is perfect for a town meeting spot, but I'll think twice about going in for anything more than an ice tea. read more

Unbelievable rip off. I guess their New Years resolution was to piss off the regulars. I get lunch here at least once a week. The $9 sandwich used to be justifiable since it included chips and a pickle. As of today they have a sign reading if you want chips with your sandwich you have to pay an extra 1.25!!!! Of course the price of the sandwich is still the same. Not sure why they think their food is worth it. Esp with their microwaved bacon and unfriendly service. Luckily Fitzgeralds is right next door. Fresher and more reasonable. Wish Truffles were closer- they include a salad and dessert with sandwiches!! read more

I'm actually giving the four stars just for the drinks. I think the staff rate around a 2. This is the place I go for a good dirty chai or cafe au lait. But the staff have a bit of an attitude like they're too cool for me. If there was another place that was close and as good I would go there just for that reason. read more

The open mike night is a good idea. I wish they'd amp up their menu, there's a lack of character there, basically a wanna-be starbucks with a few additions. I really love the veggies breakfast burrito, and want to support small businesses. However, today I ordered one and noticed that it didn't have the avocado. I went back in the restaurant and they insisted they had put it on. Went home and unwrapped it no avocado. Needed to grab breakfast before hockey game at Westminster. Found this place and it was great! The avocado toast specials were delicious and huge...great value! Super friendly service too. Wow have to update as I wrote this review in the car waiting for my husband to buy a hot chocolate and soda for the rink he came out and said they didn't charge him and said "it's on us merry Christmas". My wife and I went to eat lunch here today. I had the chicken Caesar wrap and my wife had the chicken pesto wrap. Both came with a bag of chips and a pickle ($8.25 each). My chicken Caesar wrap was delicious. The chicken was cooked perfectly, there was just enough Caesar dressing and the seasoned croutons gave it a nice crunchy texture as well as flavor. Unfortunately, the chicken pesto wrap wasn't good. First, it's not pesto, it's pesto mayonnaise and the wrap was so watery that it dripped out the wrap and made a pool on my wife's plate. The taste was off too because it had a curry taste. There were sweet peppers in it which didn't go with the sandwich. I ended up giving half my wrap to my wife. The atmosphere was nice, service was decent, and the place was clean. All in all it was OK. read more

Well, I went to the section I told them I would be sitting and not a table was wiped down. The floor was covered in crumbs. Waited close to 20 minutes for my lunch. I have enjoyed going to Peaberry's Cafe for quite some time. Since the changeover to Ana's Kitchen, unfortunately the service has declined. Each time I visit, it seems to take longer and longer for my order to be ready. For example, today it took more than 30 minutes for my order -- a roast beef sandwich -- to be prepared. The food is tasty, as are the baked goods and coffee, but it isn't so good or complex that a half hour for a sandwich is reasonable. I'm afraid this may be the last chance I will give this spot. read more

I'm Very happy with Peaberry's. The staff have always been very nice and the service fast. I ride the Greenway trail and Peaberry's is convenient for bicyclists like myself. The coffee is great, prices fair. I don't know anything about the much maligned (here) owner, but everyone was in a pleasant mood the several times I've been there. I love the place and find it attractive and comfortable. If you're riding your bike, stop in - just avoid the speed bumps in the parking lot. read more

I don't think people are giving enough credit to this place. Yes, sometimes it can be a longer wait but I can only imagine how stressful it can be to take over a business that has been around for a while that everyone LOVES and exceed those expectations.
