I was tossing up between 3 stars and 4 stars, if I could give 3.5 I would. We were in the area and decided to try this place out for dinner. It was a cold night and the restaurant only has 4 tables all were taken, one with a laptop set up which was never sat at the whole time we were there, I presume it was the owners. On arrival it is just a two person job manning the restaurant, we didn't really get welcomed as we walked into the restaurant. It gave us time to read the menu and decide what we wanted but it was kind of awkward as we were ready to order but no one was paying attention to us. Ordering was a little difficult as the lady didn't understand me. It ended up being what i thought was quite expensive for a counter service meal, it was $30 for a lunch plate, mixed plate, side and 2 sodas. There was no real customer service and we waited 30 minutes for our food, and there were only two other couples in the restaurant, it would have been nice if the lady had given us an estimate on how long our food was going to take. Also as it was a cold night, it was chilly waiting in the restaurant. We were already starving when we walked in and weren't expecting it to take soo long. It was crazy because no food was leaving the counter. One of the ladies seemed overwhelmed as she had a lot to cook. As it took soo long for our food I assumed if was all being cooked from scratch. We ordered the chicken katsu/coconut shrimp mixed plate and bbq chicken lunch plate as well as the spam musbusi. Most of the food was made fresh, however I saw the lady throw the coconut shrimp in the deep fryer and it came out of a commercial premade frozen coconut shrimp box - this was very disappointing to see I was paying money for frozen food - the shrimp did taste good, but going to a mom and pops place like this is was expecting it fresh. I saw her making the chicken katsu which was from scratch but the shrimp wasn't unfortunately. I also heard something get thrown on the grill which was obviously frozen, I don't know what it was, perhaps the 'fresh fish'. When our food finally came out, 30 minutes later, the food was good and enjoyable but wasn't really anything special. I did want to try the loco moco but my husband doesn't like gravy and wasn't keen on the idea of eggs and rice together. So our dishes were probably more Americanised than Polynesian. The bbq chicken was nice, and I enjoyed the sauce giving the rice flavour. The dipping sauce for the katsu/shrimp was nice. I enjoyed the macaroni salad and mixed greens salad. The dishes were big, even for a lunch plate (which is available all day) - were we both stuffed at the end. I feel perhaps I'm being a little harsh with my review but to round up, the customer service could have been better, thirty minutes seems a little much to wait for our food and the food was enjoyable but nothing amazing. read more

Ono Grindz! Just added this place to my list of favorite, legit, restaurants. My wife spent over 25 years in Hawaii and is very hard to please when it comes to Hawaiian Food. It's really hard to find a Hawaiian restaurant around the North Texas/DFW area. Literally the only two I know are Ana's and L&L. And L&L is no match for Ana's. This place is the best and closest to Hawaiian food you will get in this area. It's a small shop and family owned but by far, one of the best places I've ever ate at. The food is delicious and never fails to please. If you're ever craving some flavorful teriyaki beef or chicken with rice and a side of Mac salad, come to Ana's. It never fails. Sometimes the teriyaki beef is a bit dry but the teriyaki chicken is the best. And the chicken katsu never fails to amaze either. It's perfectly fried and crispy. Not too oily at all! And the portioning is great too! They give you more than enough to fill. But hands down, I'd come here for the macaroni salad alone. So delicious! A must try! They also have spam musubi and plenty of other options to choose from their menu. They offer catering so if you live far away, sometimes it's best to call ahead and see if they're open. If they're out catering, they'll leave a sign on the door and the shop will be closed. Happened a few times to me. I ordered over the phone, the service was not great but the order was taken. No total was given so I was surprised to find that the prices are about double what's on the menu photos. The menu prices have been covered with paper and written in. I say all of this because I chose to order here based on the prices posted. I got the mixed plate and and Arizona tea my total was $23. Wow what a great find. I have not had Hawaiian style food that I can recall. I'm sure this is just a subset of a wide range of Hawaiian food, but I like it. The place what I would call a "modest, strip center restaurant " but the food exceeds far beyond my expectations. I had a combo of fried chicken Katsu and coconut shrimp. It came on a bed of rice, macaroni salad and a green salad with ranch, and some sort of dipping sauce. I heated it up with some sriracha sauce and I was good to go. The store was supposed to be open the first time I came but they closed early to fulfill a catering order. The food is cooked to order so it takes a while if someone just ordered before you. A friend offered to go to this place due to it being Hawaiian food, of course I'm going to try it, especially with it being not so regular in the area. The tricky thing is, I recently went to a Chinese restaurant that served what I ordered here. The Hawaiian BBQ Chicken plate was good, yet, could've been better. I blame on the previous spot because that wasn't overwhelming. I even enjoyed the macaroni salad, which is something I don't eat at all. Now, I also tried their ribs, which were extremely good. I'd pick the ribs over the Hawaiian chicken. Also, I highly recommend the Otai aka Island Punch. Super good, I recommend to drink without a straw due to the fruit chunks. Several places I've been to put an horrible amount of onions in it but not Ana's! I was able to taste all the spices perfectly. My boyfriend ordered the Hawaiian BBQ chicken and of course made him let me try it! I was immediately overwhelmed (in a great way) by all the flavors!! We also ordered the spam masubi roll. I'm not sure why but I love spam and the combination of the rice and seaweed is genius! I highly recommend trying it! I really enjoyed my coconut shrimp. It was fried very well, not greasy nor heavy. I ordered double salad and I liked their choice of ranch. The Katsu sauce was thin (I think that's normal), but very tasty. They charge $0.50 for each additional sauce. The overall cost was a little high, but for the quality of the shrimp, the amount and the taste I would say it's worth it. I honestly didn't care for the rice. I'm not a huge fan of white rice I'm general, but I add salt and butter to mine to make it taste more like a meal. It goes a long way. read more

I'm a big fan of Hawaiian food and stumbled upon this gem. This place is definitely a "hole in the wall" type of establishment. Don't expect anything fancy and seating is limited. When I first walked in, I was hit w/the aroma of Chicken Katsu. The kitchen is right behind the register and is open and exposed. You see everything the chef is doing and how your food is prepared. You even have to cut through the kitchen to use the restroom in the back. We came here this past Friday night and it wasn't too busy. There were two ladies working the register and cooking at the same time. Teamwork at its best! We ended up getting a full order of their Chicken Katsu, a Loco Moco bowl, 2 orders of Spam Musubi, and a Poke Bowl. They only offer Poke on Thursday and Fridays. While you sit and wait for your order, you can see everything going on in the kitchen. This is proof that our food was made fresh! The Spam Musubi here is AMAZING! I love how they put spam on top and at the bottom. The rice was perfectly cooked and I love how warm it was. I could've eaten 10 of these! The Chicken Katsu was perfectly fried and came out scorching hot. So crispy on the outside and juicy/tender on the inside. The macaroni salad was on point. The perfect texture and not too creamy. The Loco Moco was so damn good. The hamburger patty underneath was so tender, the fried egg was perfectly cooked/yolky, and the gravy brought it all together with the rice. The poke they served was 1/2 a lb of Ahi Tuna seasoned with their house sauce. The tuna was very fresh and perfectly cubed up into chunky blocks, just how I like it! The only downside was the flavor. I was recommended to this super hole-in-the-wall joint by a good friend. Their food is amazing! My daughter and I shared a mixed plate of short ribs, BBQ chicken and teriyaki beef. As soon as I was done placing my order, I see them get the meat that's sitting in the marinate to cook. The small little room was just filled with this amazing scent of summer bbq. The meat was cooked perfectly, the chicken was nice and juicy, the beef was thinly sliced and melted in my mouth and a edges had a nice little crunch to it which I enjoyed. The shirt ribs was a bit tough but was so flavorful. It was on top of a bed of perfectly cooked rice and paired some of the best macaroni salad and house salad I ever had. I also order the Otai drink. Was so amazing! Fresh watermelon, pineapple and whatever else in there made it so refreshing. I love my drink with ice so I requested for some but they don't have ice.. The staff was real chilled and laid back. Because the room is so small and the grill is on, the room was super hot so I was suffering a bit. I don't ever write reviews but i have to on this experience. I tried this place the summer of 2022, had the Hawaiian BBQ Chicken and it was AWESOME !! BUT, i went back last weekend and was HORRIBLY disappointed. The bbq chicken did not have ANY sauce at all on it, just dry under seasoned bland chicken. My daughter had the Grilled Chicken Salad and was basically the same dry, under seasoned chicken.For $13.99 per plate I expect something way better than Hawaiian Bros but it was terrible. Katsu, loco moco, and the poke is our usual meal Poke is only available two days of the week. It was Friday and another day, maybe Thurs or Sat? Not sure. It has a lot of sesame oil but I like it and it's very fresh. Katsu is very crispy and not too oily. Food is OK but this is my experience -- 1- They never answer their phone; 2- You must order online because they don't answer; and you'll have a pick up time that's an hour later at least; 3- When you arrive to pick up an hour or so later, they haven't even started making your order; 4- They inform you the sides you ordered online can't be combined with the entree you ordered -- Then why did you even give me the option?! 5- They are closed on days they say open, and open on days they say are closed.
