Wow, this is a fantastic spot. The brisket sandwich is amazing and the flavors are to die for. I think there was hoisin sauce with a buttery taste on the bread and there was a generous amount of brisket. The pho broth on the side reminded me of consome and birria tacos. It was slightly different from the broth in the bac pho, almost more distinct of a flavor. The pho was amazing as well. The meat was high quality and melted in your mouth. Super tender. Only issue is the broth is on the fattier side since there was a lot of fat at the top so I skimmed the top before I ate the leftovers. The 4th street market is like the Santa Ana version of Anaheim packing district with slightly less options. Workers were very nice and I would totally come back for their sandwich. The sandwich comes with 2 halves and a dipping bowl of soup. The first bite of the "Sandwich" was delicious. I really enjoy the juicy meat with a sweet and savory garlic sauce. As I continued to eat, I expected the sandwich to be soggy. To my surprise, it held the sandwich together neatly. I thought that the cilantro with the beef reminded me of eating beef brisket. The bread was like a rye with a light mustard, which I found complement the beef well. The soup could be used a dip for the sandwich, but I chose to drink it on the side to keep the sandwich from being too soggy. For what I paid for the sandwich, I was full from half of the sandwich and needed to get a to go container for my second half of my meal. Very reasonably priced for the cuts of premium grade meat, fresh herbs and other ingredients. There are mad layers of textures and quality ingredients. Dipped into the side of slow simmered bone broth (similar to a French dip and a side of au jus), this sandwich is heaven! So much flavor! The aromatics from the fresh herbs and spices from the broth, premium cut and tender slices of beef, on a 2 slices of firm bread. I want to emphasize, the bread was quite firm. Not tough, not stale, etc. I wholeheartedly appreciate this bread for having the seemingly near impossible mission of holding all these layers together. However, it is after all still bread. But if it gets too soggy, then chances are, you were holding it too long. So be sure to dip right before you plan on taking a bite. The sandwich can get messy (in only the best possible way), so I wouldn't recommend coming here on a first date, but would recommend coming with your soul mate (^^) read more

I want to mention now that the only thing I've tried from this place is the Tai Lan Pho. In all truthfulness, I was actually quite disappointed with this dish. You're probably wondering why I still gave 4 stars. I want to give kudos for the creativity, quality, and ambition. You can tell the broth was crafted with care and the ingredients they use are top notch. The beef they used was tender and high-quality. Now, the reason why I was disappointed was because this particular Pho tasted too overwhelming to me. The combination of all of the ingredients added a whirlwind of flavors, but not in the best way. I generally consider pho to be a lighter noodle soup, but this one was very heavy, oily, and made me feel like I was eating junk food. I'm not sure if it's the fried scallions, bone marrow, oils in general or a combo of all three, but it was a flavor profile that I grew sick of very quickly. I was only able to eat about half the bowl due to how rich the entire soup was. In my opinion, it was like eating the Foie gras of pho. High quality with complex flavors, but perhaps it's better enjoyed in smaller portions vs a big heavy bowl. All in all, if you enjoy deep complex flavors, maybe this is your bowl of pho (cup of tea pun), but if you're expecting something more similar to a traditional pho dish (like I was), this is not it. read more

To encapsulate pho in a sandwich is creative and I understand sometimes folks don't desire something iterative (despite all food essentially being so of each other over time), but it was simply good. It can get a bit messy on the hands so be sure to grab some extra napkins alongside the provided sriracha or hoison sauce on the side! However, I disliked the bread a lot. It's one of those hard toasted bread that cuts the top of your mouth. Not the best feeling.
