This place has been blowing up on social media and I had to come check it out, because if there's one thing about me, I love gimmicky fusion stuff. PARKING: Located in 4th street market. There's street parking as well as parking structures in the area, some of which offer free/discounted parking WHAT I ORDERED: Pho Brisket Sandwich THE SANDWICH: Honestly, I was simultaneously impressed and disappointed. For the most part, it's kind of what you would expect this sandwich to be. The meat was flavorful but a bit dry, and it definitely needed the broth. The broth was amazing, though - super flavorful and well-spiced. The cilantro and onions were also a nice touch. The culprit here though was the rye bread, which got soggy quick, even before dipping into the broth! I wish they used a harder bread, something like a baguette that can hold up to a broth better. I noticed their BBH sandwich uses a different bread so I wonder if that one's better. In terms of portion size, this was a pretty hefty sandwich and I think it could easily be split between two people. SERVICE: Pretty friendly and quick. VIBES: Good options for seating in 4th street market, especially the outdoor seating which is nice. Tons of food options too for if you're bringing a group and people are indecisive. BOTTOM LINE: Wasn't blown away by the sandwich, but I definitely do want to come back to try the actual pho and perhaps the Bun Bo Hue sandwich!
Beyond confused on writing my review because so many people had such great things to say about it. For $17+ on a sandwich, I had really high expectations and they were definitely not met whatsoever. It took quite a while for my sandwich to come out and when I saw it, I was a little excited because it was packed with meat - however when I finally sat down and got to eating it, it was so dry and flavorless. The bread itself was so stiff and dry, the meats were dry - dipping it didn't really help except make it messier for me. I also added seasoned fries to my order and man, were they definitely seasoned... with salt. Not worth the time & price.
Located in the 4th Street Market food hall in Santa Ana, And Broth is probably one of the more exciting concepts currently there. Their menu primarily features a variety of pho, but you should definitely go there to check out their two specialty sandwiches. At first, I thought the sandwiches might be gimmicky. They're similar to a French dip: you get a sandwich paired with a cup of broth for dipping (which I assume is why the place is called "And Broth" in the first place). I tried both the Pho Brisket on Rye and The BBH (Spicy Beef Sandwich). The brisket sandwich was tender and flavorful, but the BBH stole the show with its bold, spicy kick. Both sandwiches are pretty good on their own, but dipping them in the broth takes them to the next level. (Seriously, why wouldn't you dip? The broth is phenomenal!) The flavors are on point, and the portions are generous, with plenty of meat in each sandwich. I haven't tried their pho yet, but if the broth is indicative of the flavors of their pho, I'm sure I would enjoy it as well. If you're looking for a unique twist on classic pho flavors, And Broth is a must-visit!
DEE-LICIOUS! The Pho Beef Brisket Sandwich was scrumptious! I crave that sandwich often, and has shared how delicious it was with many people. It has the perfect balance of meat to veggies/herbs ratio (I do like mine for on the veggie side), flavor is packed with that pho broth taste, tender and juicy meat, and the perfect vehicle to hold it all together... the Rye Bread. I am not a fan of Rye Bread, but I loved this one! It comes with a side of bee pho broth to dip the sandwich in, which was very tasty. You have to also get the pickled jalapenos, they are not spicy but taste super good with the sandwich. I can't wait to come back here again. Absolutely amazing! Came here on a friend's high recommendation and I was not disappointed whatsoever. It's a small shop in a larger food hall, but don't let the size fool you. The flavors are huge! The brisket was extremely juicy and it matched so will with the pickled veggies and thinly sliced green onions. I would prefer more cilantros, but thats because I love the fragrance that cilantro has. The sandwich being on rye bread was such a great touch. If it was any other bread, I don't believe it would be able to withstand the juices, not to mention the broth you're encouraged to dip the sandwich in. You are free to drink the broth separately, but I recommend dipping the sando in the broth. The richness of the broth brings so much flavor especially when the broad soaks it all up. My only knock would be that the pickled radish and carrots aren't flavored as strongly as I prefer but it did its job: cleanse my palette. If there are not that many people before you, expect a short 10-12min wait before your belly is full and satisfied!
Overall: 4.75 for unique food that was incredibly delicious and well flavored. The Service: Service was fast and efficient. We came around 1pm on a Sunday and there was no line. We waited about 10 minutes for our food. The Food: Pho Brisket Sandwich - This tasted divine! They captured all the pho flavor in the beef brisket and it was accompanied with all the herbs that go with pho, giving it a wonderful flavor. I also loved that it came with pickled onions which balanced out the fattiness of the brisket. One comment is that the bread does get soggy so do finish it quickly! It also comes with a side of the pho broth which you can dip in but I found that a bit messy since the sandwich is stuffed with the beef brisket so I just took sips of it on the side. The BBH Sandwich - As someone who loves bun bo hue, this was a perfect version of it in a sandwich. Similar to the pho brisket sandwich, this was stuffed to the brim with the tender and delicious beef and it had the herbs that go along with the Bun Bo Hue as well. It also had some pickled onions which helped cut through the fattiness. The bun bo hue broth that came with this was so flavorful and spicy, just the way I like it! The Santa Ana Pho - I am very particular with my pho so I really enjoyed this pho! It was served with so much different types of meat from tendon to ribs. I honestly wish there was tripe in the pho. The broth was flavorful and you can tell that it was cooked for a very long time. Price: The price is a bit pricier than most places, but I think the quality and uniqueness really shines. A bowl of pho is about $24 which is very pricey but the amount of pho with the noodles and beef can feed two people. The sandwiches are about $16-18 which is pricey for a sandwich but the taste and uniqueness was worth it. The Atmosphere: The restaurant is located in 4th Street Market which had plenty of seating when we went (both inside and outside). Parking: There is a parking structure behind the 4th Street Market that has free parking on weekdays and sometimes weekends I believe (it was hard to understand the sign....since it said only Saturday/Sunday evenings but we got free parking on a Sunday afternoon. There is also street parking but this is located in Downtown Santa Ana so it can be hard to find.
My husband and I had a date night and went to DTSA for dinner. I had seen And Broth all over my IG feed and was intrigued by their sandwiches. By the way, they also serve pho here with 24-hr broth. But they are infamous for their pho sandwich and their new BBH (Bun Bo Hue) sandwiches. If you know me, you know that I love pho but I also love the lesser known Vietnamese noodle soup dish known as BBH. No one makes as good a BBH as my mother but some places try. The BBH sandwich is a fusion food item and it's quite novel. It's similar to a French dip where it is a sandwich stuffed with protein (brisket and pork loaf), herbs, and pickled onions, served with a side of BBH broth. I was intrigued. After ordering, we were given a buzzer and waited at a nearby table. Once the order was ready, I went to pick it up at the window. The sandwich was stuffed and really photogenic. I took a bite and found that the brisket was really tender and that the herbs give the sandwich that essence of BBH. I liked that they used French bread and not rye for this too. Since I'm not personally a fan of eating chả lụa or pork loaf warm, I pulled those slices out and just ate the brisket sandwich. It was better that way. My husband took a few tentative bites but the rest was all mine. He thought it was different and liked that the brisket was tender. It was glorious and hit the spot. Thanks And Broth for introducing an innovative sandwich fusing Vietnamese and American flavors.
Finally tried the viral Pho Brisket Sandwich tucked inside the Santa Ana food court. Reminded me of a pastrami sandwich with its thick layer of briskets, onions, and basil leaves sandwiched between rye bread. It does also come with a side of broth which I wasn't so sure if I was suppose to dip the sandwich in or simply sip on the side. The sandwich was good but I still prefer the briskets in my pho. Not quite sure what I was expecting but it was quite interesting. Of note, the rye bread does get a bit soggy and the briskets do fall out some and can get messy. Overall it wasn't bad. Give it a try if you're in the area
Wow! Flavor bomb is what I think of at And Broth. I ordered the Chili Verde Pho ($17.99) and Pho Brisket Sandwich ($15.99). Both were so flavorful and delicious! The Chili Verde Pho comes with this basil garlic chili oil that amps up the flavor. Although there was plenty of meat and enough to fill you up, I think that $18 for pho is expensive. However, I don't regret trying it. I just don't think I will come often because of the price and value. But do I recommend it? Yes! The Pho Brisket Sandwich surprised me. I was impressed that it had all of the flavors of pho even without the soup on the side! This sandwich is huge! It has so much meat and it is so flavorful! I find that the price for this sandwich was relatively reasonable considering how much meat you get. The one downside to this sandwich was the soggy bread. The top wasn't soggy, but the bottom was. However, I used an air fryer at home to warm it up and it was crispy again. I highly recommend checking this place out! The wait is long, but worth trying at least once!

Stopped by &Broth because I was craving phở and noticed that a new spot had opened in 4th St Market Starting with the broth, you can definitely tell that it's been simmering for a long time with the insane depth of flavor in every bite. I especially enjoyed that the broth was clear and light, but can be adjusted to be richer with the free marrow onion oil. A lot of sides cane included with your bowl (pickled onions, chili oil, hoisin/sriracha, thai basil, bean sprouts) which is always appreciated. Portion size was plenty to fill me up and prices were reasonable as well. Service was great, no complaints here. Staff answered any questions I had with a smile. Can't wait until the next time I'm here :) &Broth may be in soft opening, but they give some of the places in Westminster/Garden Grove a run for their money. read more

Came here because a lot of people have been saying good things about this restaurant. Came with my mom and we waited almost 30 minutes for our food even though there was only one other person waiting for food seated next to us. My mom's sandwich was hot and mine was nearly cold meaning my food has been sitting there for a while before we got it. Food is mediocre at best and I would rather get pho from the countless vietnamese restaurants in garden grove and westminster instead. I would only recommend this place for the novelty of the sandwich not the actual taste of it read more

Came here this past Saturday since it was pho weather. One of the best spots I've had in a while! I luckily came in time before they sold out! They must be doing something right!! Ordered the Pho Bac, Seafood, and brisket on rye since it's been going viral on social media. Those reviews are no joke and live up to their words. If it wasn't for foodwithbros, I would have never found out about this place. I saw this spot on an IG reel and I happenly was in the area for a work conference. After a long day on my feet at the conference checked into my hotel to relax. My other coworkers decided to go to a local spot, but I didn't want to miss my chance at trying this spot, and I did not regret it! I ordered the Brisket on Rye Sandwich with a bottle of Coke. The sandwich came with a plastic side container of pho broth with onions and a small container of pickled carrot/daikon as you would find on a typical Vietnamese banh mi sandwich. Pro tip: Ask for two containers of pickles, one is not enough. I tried the sandwich by itself, the beef was tender and the sandwich condiments and toppings worked really well together. It tasted like if pho was a sandwich. Adding the pickles and dipping into the soup made it even better. Pro tip II: If you want to keep your hands somewhat clean and your sandwich somewhat intact, top your sandwich with the pickles, *bite*, then just sip the pho soup from the container. This food court like restaurant is located in a building with several other food stalls. The tables could've been cleaner, but overall not bad. Seems more like a door dash pick up spot than somewhere you're supposed to eat at. I would recommend eating it fresh on the spot though, as I would imagine considering the wait time you would expect for delivery the rye bread would probably be pretty soggy by the time it got there. So final verdict, 5/5 stars, would recommend, definitely making a trip back the next time I'm in the area. read more

Gonna do y'all a favor. Don't fall for all the IG reels and Tiktok's on this. Overall it was alright. It took 30 mins for our Pho sandwich to come out and it was underwhelming. At least give us a heads up if it's gonna take long. We could've had an appetizer some place else Anyways brisket was good, wasn't hot when it came out though. The broth was alright but I'm glad it was piping hot. The sandwich was overwhelming oniony for me. This is a must if you're ever in DTSA. Be prepared to wait. Like i told my kids if it takes a long time to get your food its because its fresh. The quality is 2nd to none. We were quoted 20 minutes waited about 40 but it was worth it. We went on a Saturday around 12:00 they were tapped out of rib or marrow around 1ish so get there early if you can. The food is pretty good actually. We split a brisket pho sandwich, which had some of the most tender brisket in a pho. You can also really taste the Vietnamese mayo. They give you a side of soup to dip or drink separately, but we found that it was on a saltier side (and you don't really have to dip with all the flavors already in the sandwich). The restaurant says it opened at Saturday 11:30am but they didn't start taking orders until 15 mins later. By the time the rest of our crew arrived and place our order at noon, it was already a 45 mins wait for our food. I don't think the $16 price point would be worth that wait. read more

The viral pho sandwich definitely met our expectations. It was such a unique way to reinvent pho into a sandwich. Everything was perfect - the brisket was tender and juicy, the vegetables offered acidity and freshness to it, and (the star of the dish) the broth was delectable. Our standards for pho are pretty high as we have our go-to mom and pop shops on Bolsa and their broth is COMPARABLE. It's so delicious! It is pretty pricey at a nearly $20 price point so thats the biggest trade off. The restaurant is also inside a food court and it was pretty busy when we went but our food still came out really fast. 5/5 for its uniqueness 5/5 on flavor and 4/5 on overall food experience. Stopped by for lunch since I was craving soup and this was among the closest options. They've got a few options on the menu including a dish with bone marrow, but I'm not a huge bone marrow person so I went with the phở bắc. The broth is beefy, and they don't skimp on meat. There's added aromatics added on top including ginger, which really makes their phở a great option for those feeling under the weather. If you like pickled onions, you can get some on the side as well. I've eaten a lot of phở over the years, but the phở served at And Broth is probably some of my favorite so far! This viral pho sandwich is tucked away in the Santa Ana food court, which is a very busy place so parking can be a little bit hard. We ended up finding free parking in the parking garage, which is about a 5 minute walk, and can be free depending on how long you stay in downtown/the food court. It took me 2 tries to get the brisket sandwich, as the first time they ran out and the wait was an hour. Luckily, on my 2nd try, I was able to order the sandwich, and it did not disappoint! The sandwich was filled with plenty of tender, flavorful brisket that melted in my mouth with each bite. It also comes with lettuce and pickled onions, along with a side of warm broth and pickled daikon/carrots. The sandwich is overall very tasty, but the pickled carrots/daikon and onions did throw me off, since I associate those more with banh mi sandwiches, rather than pho. I dipped the sandwich in the warm broth and it was really delicious! It is a little bit pricy, but I think the quality of brisket makes it worth a try! read more
I search of a good Pho place and this is come very close. They advertised that the beef broth cooked over 24 ht and it was true. The smell and the taste were just perfect. I didn't give it a 5 stars because the way it was served took the eating pho experience wasn't there. The beef noodle soup were served in a paper bowl and the vegetables, Thai basil, bean sprouts, lime wedges and sliced jalapeños are at minimum, practically none. We also ordered the pho brisket Bánh mì, on rye bread instead of a baguette. It was very tasty. The combination of beef, thinly sliced red onion and herb mixture of cilantro, green onion and Thai basil were excellent. It come with a side of beef broth dipping. This is similar to French dip sandwiches but a little tastier. The sandwich was a bit soggy but the taste was very good. A bit steep for the sandwich and pho about $18 each. Maybe I'll bring my own ceramic bowl when I come here next time. Order at the counter and they will buzz you when it's ready to pick. read more
And broth is in a food hall. It was difficult to find parking on the street. I had to go around the block and park metered even though I was picking up. There was a parking garage but i didn't want to pay. I must admit the area looks sketch but the inside is clean and trendy. I love all the food choices but I saw this place on Instagram so I had to give it a try. I got take out so I can't really speak to the service. My food was ready for me and hot. I do wish that I got a notification that it was ready but all I had to do was ask. Unfortunately, I couldn't eat my sandwich right away. By the time I ate my food the consume was lukewarm. My bread was soggy, and dripping with consume. It was a little difficult to eat and dipping it in the consume was pointless as it was already soggy. I'm giving it a 5 star because the brisket was amazing. There was so much of it that only ate half of it. The cilantro and pickled veggies were so good. I can't take a star off for the soggy bread since I did wait so long. Next time, I would eat it there right away! read more

Surprised to see such good reviews for such a mediocre pho place. No complaints with the service, in fact, they were quite speedy and efficient. However, the pho is the most oiliest and fattiest pho I've ever tasted. In the worst way possible. My friend got the Tai Lan pho and struggled to scarf it down considering how oily it was. I got the build your own pho and ordered the bone marrow oil to accompany it. I added the oil and it just made it super oily, and not really flavorful. The broth without any oil is pretty plain and I've had better tasting ones. If insanely oily pho is your forte, come here. read more

I have been looking forward to eating at this new Pho place. A M A Z I N G to say the least. I ordered the rare steak and it was delicious I don't normally finish the entire bowl, but I finished the entire bowl lol. I could have eaten the Pho by itself without anything added to it. The broth alone is so good. My daughter loves pho and she approved (she is 6 lol). I will be coming back and trying more items on their menu! read more

I've never had better Phở in my life! The depth of flavour and the utmost care in preparation is very apparent upon your first bite. I am always concerned with getting any kind of beef in soup because the meat's seasoning usually doesn't come through as it has likely been washed away by the broth. This was not the case at &Broth. The thin shavings of beef fat melt in your mouth and burst with incredible umami flavour. They are known for their Katz Deli inspired Pho Brisket Sandwich and specialize in pho. & Broth prides themselves in having the highest quality meats and 24 hour slow simmered beef and bone marrow broth that is prepared with warm herbs and spices for a rich a umami taste. My friend and I visited to try both the pho brisket sandwich and the house specialty pho. It is located in an upscale food court so there is an adequate amount of seating and other food places to try as well. The price was reasonable and food came out super fast. We both enjoyed it a lot and it is definitely worth the visit if you are in the area. Pho Brisket on Rye: This is their viral Katz Deli inspired pho brisket sandwich and I can confirm that it is worth the hype! This sandwich is a twice cooked prime brisket served with house made Vietnamese mayo, pickled onions and fresh herbs. It also comes with a side of pickles and beef consommé. The sandwich was packed with so much high quality, tender and flavorful brisket that paired so well with all the herbs in it. The flavors blended so insanely well together. A very well balanced sandwich. I loved the addition of pickles because it added the perfect amount of acidity to the sandwich. The rye did get a little soggy after a while and especially when dipping it in the consommé. 8.5/10 House Specialty Pho: This was a pretty good bowl of pho. The slow braised beef back ribs and prime rare rib eye were insanely delicious. The quality of meat really shown through in the pho. I also loved how umami and rich the oven fired bone marrow was, it added such a nice mouthfeel to the pho. Noodles were cooked al dente. What I did not like about the pho broth was how there was such a strong star anise flavor. It was a little too overwhelming for me, but if you like that then this is the perfect broth for you. My other complaint is how the pho was served in disposable utensils and bowls which made the experience not as enjoyable. Overall, a 7.5/10 read more

Came here to check out their pho brisket sandwich since I have been seeing it all over social media. Came in during lunch hour it was not that bad, I thought I was going to wait a long time. My husband and I decided to order a sandwich and a pho. So we went with the BAC pho and the pho brisket sandwich. When we got our food you can't help but to smell all of the amazing scents of the brisket and the Thai basil and the wonderful aroma of that broth! The sandwich was just so flavorful and the meat was so tender and then you either dunk the sandwich in the broth or pour the broth onto your sandwich. We split the sandwich but honestly we both could have eaten one each. The pho was also very tasty and the broth was so good and rich. It comes with a side of bean sprouts, Thai basil, lemon and jalapeños. I also added some hoisin sauce and some Chile sauce. Overall this place is amazing and will definitely be coming back! read more
