This was my first time having it in Arizona. Being from California, I've been looking for a crawfish place that compares to crawfish places in California with similar flavorings. My cousin told me to try this place although she had never tried it because her friend recommended it to her. So I called and ordered 4 lbs of crawfish and 2lbs of shrimp with 20 pieces of sausages and 1 and a half dozen of wings and an order of fries. Honestly, the sauce that the crawfish and shrimp was mixed in was not as flavorful. It was kind of bland and it was really oily. When we almost got the bottom of the bag, all we saw was oil and we didn't want to eat it anymore. The pieces of sausages were sliced pretty big so I think we would have been fine with 10-15 pieces. The fries were soggy, not crunchy like how we thought it would be. The Cajun wings were super spicy even though we ordered mild. Just giving this three stars because the staff was really nice and helpful. It was super packed for a Wednesday night when we came to pick it up as well. read more

This place is a love hate relationship. The good. One of the only places I can get decent oysters.The peeled shrimp in spicy garlic sauce by the pound is great.love the seasoned fries. Bartenders are friendly and attentive. Now the not so good. Flies buzzing around our heads and food the last two times there. I Hate those dirty bugs around my food,it's unforgivable. The bar was sticky( we moved away from our table because of the flies) and guess what,more flies! The place has an unclean order.This is the second time in a row this happened. There's nothing not to like about this place unless you are allergic to seafood. Big portions, great food, engaged and attentive staff, and everything is well prepared. Sorry to hear about those who felt this location was bad many months ago but today I had the totally opposite experience with my family. Today is Oct 9, 2022 and the family talked me into going to the Angry Crab here in Surprise AZ on Bell Road which I have never been before. To my surprise I was actually blown away with the outstanding service from Hailey who was very knowledgeable and helpful with our orders and drinks. We were hungry or at least I was. Being Sunday the Appetizers had special prices which were very reasonable. I ordered, 6 wings dry with garlic, Gumbo and a Clams/Calamari plate and an order of hush puppies. The others ordered the fish taco with fries and a large combo plate of fried shrimp, pickles and calamari. Everything came to the table hot and loved the corn meal batter on everything and was dry and not greasy, so the cooks did a great job. I was surprised that the clams were whole. Yes whole clams! I expected strips but these clams were fresh and clean and battered again in corn meal that was done right. Now we had many choices for desert and they asked me if I wanted funnel fries? I passed as I didn't need any fries for desert but when it arrived and my girls showed me it was actually funnel cake batter shaped strips like fries. Old dummy me thought it was battered French fries. OMG! Funnel Cake Fries with powdered sugar and some strawberry sauce those babies were gone in a flash. LOL Again, I could not have asked for a better server as Hailey kept our drink full and made sure were happy from start to finish. Thank you Haley. Ordered food from here using Five Star Express the other night, and wasn't very impressed. The order clearly stated grilled shrimp with fettuccine, but instead the sent grilled salmon with fettuccine minus the sauce. Tried to call to get the correct order, but they closed before I got my meal. Would be nice to have quality control. So today I came to the surprise location because the are the only ones serving dine in for the establishment. I order a beer and boil bag and so did my guest. My bag cane out and it was good however my sausage was over cooked kinda tasted burnt. The rest of my food was good. But during my meal the waiter checked on us. My guest is a fast eater and me normal pace so I am in the middle of my meal and server said I will bring your check. I clearly wasn't done and would of gotten another beer however at this point I felt rushed and it made me feel very uncomfortable. So we did get our check. But overall my experience at this location let's just say wasn't the best. I won't be returning. read more

DO NOT ORDER FOOD FROM THE ANGRY CRAB SHACK. I'm visiting my son from out of town. He plays sports for a local college in AZ. I made & paid for my $57 order on line at a little past 6:30 pm received confirmation It would be ready for pickup @ 7:39pm. Arrived at Angry Crab Shack @ 8:00 or a little after. Was told by 3 staff member it would be 10 min they r just finalizing some things. At approximately 8:47. I received my order and that was the first person to almost kinda apologize for wait. Asked about wait time after receiving confirmation it was ready at 7:39. She put blame on grub hub. I made a few comments about her being first person to apologize for wait. She said they don't do refunds from grub hub. Problem was I didn't ask for refund. I told her the customer service is my biggest complaint (boy would I be surprised when I got to my sons house & saw my order). She then became very flippant about my concerns on customer service & made me feel like I did someone wrong. I simply left very upset about wait & how I was treated. When I got to my sons this is what I got(see pic). I felt it was a personal "Fuck you !!" To me for some reason. I called grub hub customer support& thankfully they confirmed that the Angry Crab got my order at 7:07pm. I received notice it would be done at 7:39pm. & I got it brought out to me at 8:47pm. During my wait in restaurant the cooking & wait staff was looking at me constantly & now I am thinking it was because I didn't include tip in order. that's because I tip cash when I pick it up. But hey they don't know that but either way the owners either need to retrain staff or hire new customer service oriented staff or just close. I WILL NEVER EAT THERE AGAIN & MY SON & his teammates 3 of which witnessed the wait & saw my order. THEY WILL TELL THEIR TEAMMATES & family & friends inarea about this because it was epic. Food and employees get five stars. Good food, friendly employees. But service gets a one. They brought out my food before my Moms. I was done before she got hers. And the restaurant wasn't even busy. That was dine in experience a couple months ago. I recently ordered pickup. Was disappointed to see only one employee wearing a mask, and none of the customers besides me were wearing one. Been here 3 times recently and always ordered the Dungeness crab clusters, same seasoning and spice level. What I got was crab barely above room temperature and no spices. I complained to my waiter who reluctantly took it back to replace. The manager brought out my replacement and said it was comp'ed. This meal was great. When my bill arrived, one meal was comp'ed and the other was full price. (I was dining alone). I asked the waiter about it and was told that was correct, I wasn't being charged for the meal I sent back. I paid the bill and left. I doubt very much that I will return. I give the place 2 stars because of the terrible service tonight. My food has always been good and service okay until tonight. the first time I dined at the Angry Crab Shack was in the evening. I ordered one dozen oysters. They shucked them fresh for me and they were great. the next time I went for lunch and ordered the s@me. this time they. fought the oysters which had been shucked and put in the refrigerator. There is a big difference be tween freshly shucked oysters and ones that were shucked ahead of time. They were not pleasant. I will not be ordering oysters at lunch there again. read more

Ordered over the phone for a to go. Got gator nuggets and catfish basket French fries corn potato salad. Drove about 20 mins to get here and they asked for a name told them they said it's almost ready about 25 mins later I got my order and didn't make a fuss about the time because I'm not a big complainer and don't like to deal with the extra drama. I'm assuming my order sat waiting for a while because when I got in my car to make sure the order was right the food was cold and didn't taste fresh this was the second time in a row this happened at this location I gave a second chance to be let down again this is not a very good location for customer satisfaction for to go orders at least I will pass and don't recommend it. read more

I have been to 2 other angry crab locations. This is by far the worse. I'd say it was due to it being a new location but the customer service was horrible. Our hostess was rude. The bartender not only made drinks for the patrons at the bar, he filled drink orders for the entire restaurant and also served our section. He earned a tip for doing the best he could filling multiple roles. I will not return to this location due to the customer service alone. We were not offered bibs or gloves and when our food arrived we received no utensils. Hopefully this place gets it together. The location is great and you would expect more from a chain that has such great reviews at other locations. read more

Well will never eat here again!! We have ordered takeout here two previous times and it was delicious!! We always order the fish and chips with Cajun fries and corn and the catfish with fries and corn. They didn't give us the extra tarter sauce and cocktail sauce like we asked for. The order was cold and disgusting. The corn was mushy. I had one piece of cod with maybe 10 fries and my stomach is turning! By far the worse takeout order ever. When we called about the sauces the best they could do was offer us a free appetizer when we ordered again. Horrible. Save yourself and order somewhere else. Won't call about how horrible the order was because they will probably offer us another free item. Won't be back!! read more

I've been wanting to check this place out since they opened. So disappointing. It's a step up from Long John Silvers. Maybe we should have had the boil but didn't feel like working at our meal. Fried food is way over breaded. I'm of the mindset that I want more innards like onion, clams, etc. than breading. My husband had fish and chips but he said it was very greasy. I had clam strips and onion rings. Couldn't taste much because of the breading. The two stars go to the excellent waitstaff and nice outdoor area. We will not be back. read more

Terrible service last night. Our party of 8 were given one crab cracker for the entire table. When we asked for more the waiter said he didn't think there were any other clean ones. Have been waiting for a seafood restaurant close to us, so was so disappointed when we visited the new Angry Crab on Bell Rd. We had fish and chips. Cod meat was good, breading deep fried was cooked to long so crust was tough, and extremely greasy, along with the French fries. We have eaten at the Angry Crab a few times. Our experience seems to be hit or miss. Either excellent or bottom of the barrel. It is not a place for conversations because the music is loud. They create a PARTY atmosphere. The food is always good. But the wait time can run long. So, if you go be prepared for good food, hopefully good service and a party atmosphere. read more

Very disappointing experience last night at the Angry Crab on 113th Ave and Bell Rd. Wait was 30 minutes longer than the 30-40 minute wait we were originally given. While the staff was on point, the food, unfortunately lacked flavor and freshness. If you want to eat fried batter and boxed items then you've come to the right place. My family and I came here hoping to get the same quality that we would get at favorite Vietnamese Seafood spot in CA and GA. But sadly, it was a miss and one we will not frequent again. Delicious! A great option to boring lunches. Prompt and cheerful service. Good range of menu choices. The spiced and herbed Cajun fries are out of this world. The dual lobster rolls were tasty and filling, and my wife loved her shrimp and crabcake sandwich. Generous servings. Didn't try the desserts but they sounded enticing and appropriate.
