For the last month or so I've been craving nothing but crab... finally the hubby and I got to opportunity to have a kidless dinner and satisfy my cravings. We walked in and we're probably greeted we noticed there was a few couples waiting to be seated. The host notified us that the main dining room was full but there were two tables that would be ready shortly once they were cleaned and cleared. He also mentioned that there was nobody in the bar area and in addition to the usual bar sitting there was also four tables that say approximately four to six people. Knowing that our time was limited, we opted for one of the four table tops and the bar area. At the time of our arrival, we were the only people in the bar area other than the bartender who came and explained our menu as well as took the order for a beverages (22oz Dos XX & a Hurricane) within 3 minutes. Her name was Judea and she was equipped with a big black permanent marker where she wrote her name on the white piece of paper that was on top of our table. She also explained the following: sea food is served at CURRENT market price (as noted on smaller table menu), your hands are your utensils, you'll be equipped with a roll of paper towels, plastic bibs, heavy duty scissors and pecan cracker thingy (my words, not hers). You can only order by the pound and no mixing. Food can take a while as it is prepared upon ordering. Oh, and it comes in a bag...we both ordered crab with trifecta sauce (butter, garlic and kajun) mine was a 0 (no spice) and the hubby a 3 (moderate spice). Our timing was perfect as within 20 minutes of us sitting there our area was filling up and people were lining the entrance. There was a bathroom located just adjacent to the bar area on a hallway. The women's bathroom door is very close to the paper towel dispenser which makes it kind of awkward when people walk in. Other than that it was fine I especially liked that the water that came out of both faucets was warm to take off any fishy residue. However the hubby says the one and only faucet in the men's bathroom came out burning hot. Another small thing I was appreciative of what's not in the bathroom but at the bar, like actually sitting at the bar I noted hooks underneath the bar in front of stools for a purse or whatever else you may hang in there that it's definitely convenient and helpful to anyone. The one and only reason I rated a four vs a five stars was because upon our arrival Judea did not appear to be the friendliest. She looked like she was really tired and ultimately and that affected my rating. The best I have to leave for last, it really reminded me of the buffet the little hole-in-the-wall dive bar off of 4th Avenue because you can write on the walls. I think it'd be nice if they offered some markers to do that with in case you come unprepared like we did. read more

Had the fried clams and hush puppies all exceptional. The only thing that was not 5 star was the jambalaya to thick not enough sauce. Had hurricanes to drink, again spot on. So my husband and I have been to Angry Crab in Tempe a few times and we really enjoyed it. We were excited about about the location here in Tucson. My husband and I are both from Louisiana so I was nice to have lil taste of home near by. My husband went about a month prior and he had catfish and gumbo. His seafood was good but he warned me of the gumbo tasted nothing like one in Tempe. So my note is here.... lacking consistency. So we went back last week and was told the gumbo was not the same as the one in Tempe before I ordered. Hopefully they will get this together soon. So for good news... the boiled seafood was good as usually. I got some shrimp (trifecta, mild heat, with some Cajun seasoning on the side to dip my shrimp)... I like spicy but I like to control my destiny. I like the French fries!! They are really good. My husband deviated from his norm (fried catfish) and opted for BBQ. I will just say that he willl never be ordering BBQ from here again. He felt that is was lacking seasoning... if you like it bland this might be BBQ for you. His pulled pork was dry. The food was amazing - I placed a pick order. My only feedback is when waiting for the food. I made eye contact with one of the waitresses who came to the desk near to where guests asked to wait to be seated. The waitress looked me in the eye and didnt greet me or say I'll be with you just a moment. She proceeded to do something on her phone in eye shot of myself and two othe customers that were waiting to be seated. Customer service/professionalism was lacking here and if customers are waiting then a greeting and an update of some sort should be given and customers shouldn't be just left to wonder or imagine whats going on. read more

Well to start, the bathroom stench just about knocks you down walking in. (Appetite killer). Then the rap music is a curve ball for a seafood restaurant. Strange atmosphere to say the least. You might think of yaught rock or country maybe but it just seems out of place. Now, the food was delivered so far apart that we didn't eat together. You can tell that the sausage, corn, and potatoes are not cooked with your boil because they're way over done. We went to the new Angry Crab on Broadway. The food was good but the wait time was ridiculous. I get that they just opened and that there might be glitches. However, the attitude about our waiting so long was rather non-Chalant. After 45 minutes I asked to speak to the manager. Not much later the manager finally came over with our food. When I I told her that we waited over 45 minutes for our food, her response was that some tickets were backed up for two hours. There was no effort to try to compensate (dessert, appetizer, discount etc). Obviously there is no unacceptable wait time. read more

This is the seafood boil in a bag that I remember from living in CA. This place is right next to the Hampton Inn and so popular on the Friday evening we went that we ended up parking at the hotel. We ordered shrimp, trifecta sauce-very buttery, vegetables, Cajun fries, and hush puppies and it was ALL good. Vegetables even had a nice variety-bell peppers, squash, cauliflower, and broccoli. Service was friendly and fast and they provide bibs and gloves. Wish I could have seen disposable wet wipes and lemons offered alongside the bucket of seafood. I've been to Angry Crab several times now and have every intention of returning repeatedly. They do various seafood (shrimp, crawfish, mussels, crab, etc.) and serve it by the pound in a bag with your choice of potatoes, veggies, corn, sausage or pretty much whatever you want. There are a variety of sauces to choose from and 6 different levels of heat. I enjoy spicy food but a 4 on the heat index was a bit much for me. A good way to gauge the heat is to assume each level adds about a half of a tablespoon of cayenne pepper. The "by the pound" is just one option though. The also have entree baskets and a "build your own sandwich" option on the menu. I generally do 1 pound of headless shrimp (head-on shrimp is cheaper by the pound but adds up to be more if you don't actually eat the heads) with the trifecta sauce (a mixture of kajun, garlic, and lemon pepper) with a heat level of 3 with one order of added potatoes, corn and 4 peices of sausage. I've had left overs every time too! Pro Tip! Ask to sit in the bar area. It's much quieter. Also, make a reservation if you're showing up after 5pm. read more

I dine-in at different locations of Angry Crab (in Phoenix) before. Honestly, we were extremely disappointed at this Tucson location. The sauces were too diluted with the butter and we couldn't taste the seasonings. They were also too salty. We couldn't stand to continue to eat our shrimps in bags of butter. I asked for additional sauce on the side so we could dip our seafood and not get sick from the drenched butter but the waitress didn't bring to our attention that it would be additional cost. She charged us extra at the end. We were furious. We didn't finish our food and left. However, their Cajun fries were delicious just like in any location. In terms of service, I believe our waitress was the only one that night that wasn't in the mood. Other waiters and waitresses seem to be extremely nice. Trying to get a seat liner out without ripping it in the process did not happen after four events. Alright, I'll use toilet paper instead. The seat liners were just so jammed packed they couldn't easily be removed, they would all rip! In the middle of it, the lights shut off. K, now I'm feeling like I'm in a scary movie. I finish and wash my hands. I stick around because my husband choose this place for lunch. Still, no one at the front, I seat myself. Eventually some chick comes and I ask for two waters. She must be hard at hearing because she only brought one. By the time my husband arrives we have a new server. WTH happened to the other chick? Not my business, just bring my food. During my stay I noticed someone waiting at the front. He stood there for a while and probably decided to just leave since he wasn't attended to. Place was not busy, only one other group eating when I arrived and once we began to eat, another couple came in. No Crawdads, out of season. Is this the reason why our 2 pound order was not as great tasting as the previous times we visited here? My fries came out quick, but they tasted over seasoned. This place gets two stars because 2 past experiences were great. Also, there is a "no firearms allowed" sign. This is the main reason we will never return. Our food arrived and as I inspect the food, there were no sausages and my 2 potatoes were a bit odd.. one potato was literally a size of a gum ball and the other was a normal palm size potato. I was questioning because each potato was 50cents each and I wasn't expecting a tiny potato. When my waitress returned, I told her about my sausages and the potato. Another women came and asked me what was wrong. I told her, and she quickly snapped back and said "'no, that small potato is actually the 50cent potato. You actually got lucky that you got the bigger one." I was like are you serious??? I am a huge seafood foodie. I've been to many seafood restaurants similar to angry crab and never been given a gum ball size potato for 50cents. Quality: trifecta was eh, it was more spicy that flavorful. I got medium btw. My crawfish tasted old, over cooked and my potatoes were extremely over cooked.. I couldn't even eat it. Shrimp was definitely worth the money we spent, it was cooked perfectly. Price: extremely overprice for the quality and size that you get. Everything came out to 46.75 Customer service: extremely slow. While I prefer to go to California to various different chains that trip isn't always feasible, we would settle for the Angry crab in Phx. The prices really threw us off. Get ready to shed a few extra bucks than the chain in phx. Which is fine.we understand this is Arizona and not much seafood available and this is the first of its kind here in town. However pictured is how our basket of fries came out. That is NOT full. It was disappointing. We ordered two and they were both the same. We had a big part, 13 with us and ordered two of a few different appetizers. Some of them came out after our food. Not too big of an issue with some appetizers but the one that was the issue is the oysters. You don't want your oysters sitting out any longer and to come out after your bags of seafood already came out and you're already elbow deep in that... It was also loud in there which is expected for this environment but our waitress must have heard our order wrong because it instead of snow crab we got shrimp for one of the family members. We'll probably visit again when we have a craving and just don't want to drive or make it at home. But it's not gonna be for a while. read more

On the simple starting point of food quality: Grade A. Being recognized from the start, to table service to refreshments tending, to getting a bill: Grade D. The service is truly substandard and that's an unfortunate shame. The outdoor lighting is Dark Age inadequate as you can barely see the menus. If they were attempting to take a go at 'mood lighting', they failed. The restaurant is new albeit (Nov 2017) and the Manager/Management have several bad bugs to work out here concerning their top dollar requested pays for this food. This restaurant will quickly earn a title of piss-pore unless they can figure out how to improve on their customer service interface. People come and go so you know the food is good, but it ALSO shouldn't take almost 50 minutes; either. Not a bad restaurant and on the positive side, the food is amazing to say the least. I'll be back for an update to this review. What I didn't like off the bat was the forced 18% gratuity tax they force down your throats. Omg!! Awesome customer service. So friendly and happy and was so nice. Zaundy was our server and was so kind and once she realized it was our first time visiting she was thorough with explaining the menu. So before going I was kind of confused how everything is prepped. So basically crab is there's seasonings and sauce and after the crab is cooked they place in a double bag and mix it together. I could be wrong but that's how it looked. My dungeness was awesome!! I got the trifecta seasoning and a mild sauce. Next time I would have the level 3. My oyster were decent but the bread it came on was stale and not the best it also came after our crab which is also a ding as it was supposed to be an appetizer. But honestly the service and kindness from the manager and Zaundy made it a 5 star. My husband and kid weren't a fan of the noise level but I didn't think it was that bad. We ordered a to go portion and before we left we check the order and half of it was missing. I'm glad we checked. Had dinner with a friend here on Saturday night. The place was packed, and it was difficult to find a parking spot! I enjoyed my Snow Crab boil bag - it was super pricey, but how often can you find good seafood in the desert? I had a great michelada, and enjoyed my crab with trifecta sauce in the bag. I did think it a bit strange to eat out of a bag, messy, but tasty. I wanted to add corn and potatoes to my crab, and didn't realize the price on the menu was just for one corn or one potato? Ouch. With my crab, one potato, and one corn, I knew I was still going to be hungry, so ordered the garlic bread also, which made it all ok. You can add other seafood to the bag as well, like mussels, clams, or shrimp. The waitress gave us 2 separate checks, but then another server who came and took our card, put everything on my friends bill, which was annoying. After growing up in New England, attending college on the Eastern shore of Maryland and living in San Diego and Honolulu my standards were probably too high for a crab restaurant in the middle of the desert but I have to say I was rather underwhelmed just the same. A couple of very nice friends wanted to go here and I tagged along to the South Tucson location. My companions popped for 90 bucks to get the crab boil for two that is the restaurants main schtick. It arrived in a a plastic bladder of brown "trifecta" poaching liquid that appeared to have dyed all of the king crab and lobster tail an unappetizing brown color. My friends were using liberal quantities of melted butter and assured me that despite looking ghastly it tasted better than it looked. I ordered the lobster roll platter and some easy peel shrimp. The shrimp was ok in a generic shrimp cocktail kind of way. The "lobster roll" was unrecognizable as lobster and tasted like a tuna salad sandwich with not enough mayo. This was really a shame as the service was really great. My server Gilbert and the other staff were really enthusiastic and attentive. Something unusual in these days of labor shortage when many waitstaff in restaurants feel like they are doing you a favor just being there. So much for crab in the desert. This is a Restaurant that seems to be opening all over Arizona! We were promptly seated and went in today for lunch, I had and shrimp and crabs cake sandwich. It is incased on a brioche bun with coleslaw and pickles on the sandwich, gave it a nice flavor, it is served with french fries. My friend ordered the appetizer of fried shrimp and calamari which she really enjoyed! For her lunch she ordered the scallops bowl with vegetables, she said it was very good! We had a wonderful attentive waiter by the name of Gilbert, who did an excellent job and gave us a sample of their delicious New England clam chowder, also very good. The Decour is very rustic and you can write all over the walls if you wish. It's somewhat noisy but they are doing a robust business. The only blimp is that my meal came out after my friend was served both her appetizer and her meal, mine was another five or 10 minutes later. Trying to keep in mind that all these restaurants are struggling to find employees to work, so that might've been the reason. read more

The food is so great, I love the shrimp and the spice level you get to choose. The reason I'm giving this two star review is because THE SERVICE IS SUBPAR. The staff is incredibly inattentive. Me and my significant other ordered two pounds of shrimp, one pound of crab legs and two appetizers. The waitress forget one of our orders (the crab legs) and never brought it out. When we did see her she would ask if we needed anything additional but was always speed walking past us so quickly that we could not communicate a response to her in time. When we finally got her attention, we asked for water because the spice level was super hot (which is how we like it) and we drank all of ours.. but the water never came. The waitress was chatting with her coworkers behind a counter for a long time before coming to hand us our check and didn't even bring the water that we had asked for so long ago. I will come again for the food, but really hope to see some improvements to the service level. read more

Great service, very attentive! Ordered the Alaskan cod basket and sampled some fried soft shell crab and peel and eat shrimp. Cod was great, I especially enjoyed the cajun fries. Coleslaw needed a bit more flavor and the tarter sauce was not very flavorful either. Shrimp and crab were great! I used to live near a Boiling Crab restarant....same concept. Decided to check out this location tonight for dinner for the first time. We ordered shrimps, crawfish, and snow crab legs on level 4 for spice, it was delicious but a little too hot for the fiancé. The snow crab legs was too salty but tasted good with beer overall the food was delicious. Our experience with the service was ok. After we were seated, I believe it was the manager who came around to ask if everything was ok. It was a really nice gesture of him. However, we didn't see our waitress after we ordered our food and beer and we needed drinks refilled. Finally, she came around to greet us again and we asked for an ice tea refill but sadly we never got it. I saw her stand behind the bar/food counter for a long time doing something. I also saw that she was very attentive to her other party as we continue to wait for her to come back to us. And when she finally came back to us but we were done eating already and still no tea refill. We asked for our check and with no choice we to asked for a water to go.
