First time here! I've gone to The Boiling Crab in California and another seafood place in ABQ. Super stoked that a similar place opened up in Tucson! The waitress is pretty nice. Seafood and food in general takes awhile to make since they're pretty packed all the time. We ordered cajun fries and they were delicious! Super crunchy and perfect amount of seasoning. We ordered 2lbs of shrimp and 1lb of snow crab legs with corn and sausages. We ordered the trifecta sauce (kajun, garlic, and lemon pepper combined) with a wimpy spice level because my SO can't handle spicy foods. It took a decent amount of time for the food to arrive (we went on a Saturday at 1pm) due to the amount of guests. No matter since you have to wait everywhere you go. The shrimp and crab were delicious. We chose head-on shrimp to absorb more of the sauce. Sausage and corn were cooked perfectly. There are a few things that could improve. The sauce itself was too watery versus other places that I've been to. It could be thicker and with more garlic. My shrimp sauce was more kajun-y and loose than the sauce that my crab was sitting in. Additionally, some of my shrimp was desperately overcooked so I could barely peel the shells. A few more things- I love the convenient hand washing stations that are operated by stepping on a foot pedal. Totally thoughtful. And I like that you can draw on the walls to leave a mark haha. I still think that this place deserves between 4-5 stars and I give it a 4.5 rating. read more

Moving from California where there are many restaurants similar to Angry Crab Shack & BBQ. I was happy to see this place open up. We all ordered somewhat similar; a pound of shrimp, trifecta but we all got a different spice level. If you like a good spice I would recommend a level 3/4, if not stick with 2. The shrimp was delicious and in a good size, the red potatoes were great! Not under or over cooked. The corn on the cob was a bit sweet, absorbed a lot of the sauce . I would've enjoyed it better if they added a bit more sauce into the bag since i enjoy peeling the shrimps and covering it up in the sauce. We also ordered the Cajun fries, char'd and raw oysters. The fries has a nice crunch, size and taste. The amount of seasoning they added to the fries was perfect. The raw oysters was about average but if you get the char'd oysters. My friends and I got a little creative and squeezed a tiny bit of lemon on it with some cocktail sauce and you got one heck of an appetizer! . Their sweet tea was okay, I think it'll be much better if it was a bit sweeter. Customer service was fast; it was a bit excessive since multiple servers came by the table to check up but better to have service than none, right? I hate to give local businesses negative reviews but I've tried this place a few times and it's been a disappointing experience each time. The service isn't great. The price is wayyyy too high for what you get. It comes in a plastic bag, loaded with butter and the butter gets hard in the bag and it's so gross. To be honest; I ate here while staying at the attached motel / semi-residential half-way house that is the GLH motel. Ironically, after two nights at the GHL, the Neon Image of a Crab with a black eye and waving a trident that greets diners was more accurate in describing potential cleanliness issues at the GHL than any culinary delights at the restaurant which was overall quite fun and tasty. The restaurant's crabs were pretty tasty, and we appreciated the slow service as it kept us from our room and near the bar for the maximum amount of time. Our fellow guests were also very friendly and full of advice on how best to maximize our enjoyment during our stay. Although i didn't see an actual spa brochure; I was tempted to take our neighbor , Holly, up on her massage offer. Unfortunately my girlfriend must have eaten a bad clam, as she was rather rude in insisting I passed on Holly's services.(Available 24/7 no less), and leave her room. . I think we all a little tense by the second night, so thank goodness Holly's business manager's mother had made some brownies to share with us "neighbors." Everyone was finally able to relax and I smiled to hear the genuine laughter of the rather steady crowd in the hotel parking lot when my girl ended up in the pool somehow in her clothes. I wasn't there to see her escapades, as I was receiving a "healing session," from Holly's friend instead of a massage, so as to not respect my girl's wishes. Suffice it to say it was not what I was expecting, as i didn't realize how much healing I needed. In fact, I had been going back, at my healer's recommendation, for tune up sessions until she was mistakenly arrested and charged with running an unlicensed medical practice as she explained it when I asked her what the charging documents meant by "maintaining a common nuisance". i would not stay here again, it took a solid week to eradicate the real angry crabs, but the restaurant was delicious , and the grounds of both places filled with fun people into the wee hours of the night. read more

And they said we do not do phone order, because some of people just make more than hundred dollars order by phone and never pick up. But excuse me, my order is just 19 dollars. I am a big seafood fan and I was excited to try crab shack out. It was eatable but I was disappointed for the following reasons. It is located in a sketchy part of town and I didn't feel safe as a single woman in the parking lot. An obnoxious smell hit me really hard when I walked in I almost left. Must be one of the seasonings. They seated me in the large dining room and it is WAY too loud. It is a big open space with no sound barriers. The music was playing too loud. A large party had a drunk guy with a horrible loud laugh. I ordered a special surf and turf - steak and lobster for $38. The server told me the kitchen staff wasn't used to cooking steak so it always turns out well no matter what you request. The lobster was the size of a jumbo shrimp and overcooked. The steak was really thin like breakfast steak. The corn and potatoes were fine. Service was ok. Bathroom trash was overflowing onto floor. My family and I love this place for some great seafood. I love their shrimp and it get it medium which is plenty hot. I add in some potatoes and corn. It is yummy! My husband gets butter garlic, wimpy with lobster, clams, potatoes, and sausage. He can't stand the heat. My kids love their kid's meal and get the breaded shrimp which I have to say is really good. They also like that they can write on the table since the restaurant covers it with paper. Us adults get bibs, plastic gloves and utensils to help eat the seafood. Put the baby bib on it will protect your clothes. Also use the gloves because you do not want to touch your face or eyes after touching your food. Ouch! This place can get busy so you may have to wait. They will take your number and text you when your table is ready and you can see how many people are ahead of you. This is the jambalaya I ordered to go, just dry sticky rice, no broth. This not jambalaya like I get at home. The catfish (batter) was overcooked taste like old grease. Coleslaw was also very dry. Been by this place many times since we don't live far. I was just craving me some lobster. So it was exciting to think of a real seafood place in town.And they also serve bbq! I wanted to try the lobster but they only serve it whole and at $24 a pound I decided to pass on it. We ordered the soft shell crab with a side of cornbread. and the 2 meat platter ribs and brisket with hush puppies. The portions are adequate. The ribs were ok. The brisket bland but at least not dry as stated in other reviews. They only have one sauce, we're told it can be modified to make it spicier. The ribs with the sauce were actually quite good, the brisket eh. Some of the hush puppies had a nice little kick some not. Unevenly spiced. My companion who rarely has an opinion said his meal was alright with the cornbread being the worst he's ever had. Loud music. I will say. Our server was quite attentive and checked back several times which was appreciated. For a restaurant attached to a hotel it's not bad. Not sure we'd come back however. read more

Food is inconsistent but it's usually tasty. Most of the servers are good, tables are always sticky though. The biggest reason I'm giving only 2 stars is because they don't allow you to sit at the bar and eat when there is a wait for tables. I have never experienced a place that doesn't allow people over 21 to bypass the huge wait and sit at the bar for food and drinks. They literally told us we had to get up from the bar and wait to sit at the completely empty bar to enjoy our dinner. I assume it's because they don't have enough staff but the way they approached the entire situation was rude and hostile. We used to go all the time but won't be returning. I went there with my family and the staff were all really friendly and efficient, but everything that we ordered was incredibly bland! Nothing had flavor, even my aunts coleslaw was literally just a bowl of cabbage. I ordered the scallop basket which was microwaved Normandy vegetables and scallops plopped on top of noodles with a side of butter. I've always wondered why they call this place the angry crab. Well tonight I finally went and found out. The crab and shrimp tasted excellent, so it wasn't that. Where the angry comes from, comes from just about every other component that makes a restaurant run. First thing is the service. I can't even describe how terrible the service is. We had 3 or 4 different people come to our table as part of the service. After they brought us drinks, we waited for a good 20 minutes without being able to flag down a waitress. We finally had to get up and go to the register, and ask them to please find our waitress. She finally gives us menus. Then some babbling moron comes to the table and answers questions for us, as the menu doesn't tell you half the info you want. He clearly tells us that king crab is 20 a pound and snow crab is 27 a pound. I ordered a pound of king crab and a half pound of shrimp. We wait and wait. The meals all come out at different times. There was 7 people in our party. It was so hard to get any attention at our table. Dishes that were ordered, they forgot about. 1 dish, after 20 minutes, they came back and said they can't make it because they dont have rice. My friend had to order a burger at this sea food place. Haha, then that took 30 more minutes. Then I get my check and all of a sudden, the king crab is 36 a pound. Wait, he clearly said 20 a pound, that's why I ordered it. She says, no the napkin dispenser says the price on the side. That said 33 a pound. All this confusion and frustration. My check came to 50 bucks, before tip. You know what, I'm still hungry! That pound of crab, was 3 small legs and most of that weight, was shell. Places like this should not be in business. I will definitely never go back to this scam of a restaurant and know I will cringe everyday I drive past it. I know there is a different place in Tucson that serves crab, but leaves out the angry. The place was kind of dead when I got there and the waitress was really nice. I ordered the lobster steam with garlic and medium heat. I also added corn, shrimp (p&d) and sausage. Well the lobster was not cooked all of the way but I was so hungry I ate the other areas that were cooked through. The corn and the sausage was so over cooked it was terrible, like rubber. Oh and I never even got the shrimp. I waited for my waitress a bit but she was busy on the other side of the restaurant. By the time she got back to me I was already done with what I would eat and she had the gull to question if the shrimp was really not there. Seriously.... oh btw the bill was $70 with a tip. Skip this place. I thought I would give this place another shot since it re opened after some past issues. My whole meal experience was less a 1 star. I placed my order along with my spouses. 10 minutes later my spouses dinner showed up without mine. After another 15 minutes I asked if there was an issue with my dinner, since we ordered at the same time I figured we would be served at the same time. Well another 10 minutes pass and a server finally brings my meal. Their menu has a 3 step process Order a protein, choose your spices, choose your heat. I am assuming the kitchen does not follow that 3 step process as I received a bag of half cooked shrimp, water, and more broccoli stalks than broccoli, and get this, no spices which is what makes this the Angry crab bag. I first heard of this chain of seafood diner was in 2013 and it was way up in Phoenix. I live in Tucson and it's a good 1.5 hrs of drive if I want to try it out. I tried again in 2014 for dinner but it was packed. There was a long line waiting for a table and I couldn't wait. Fast forward to September 2017. Finally it's in Tucson. I missed the opening night as I was out of town. I heard very good reviews around town about the place and couldn't wait to try it out. I went there for an early dinner with my family around mid afternoon. The place is in the compound of Hampton Inn, west side of I10 at Grant Road. Turn off the freeway and be prepared to turn into the lot. There was a line but a short wait. We were brought to our table and Alli was our server. The table was laid out with long sheet paper which was like a table cloth. We ordered snow crab & king crab legs, clams, dungness crab and shrimp. The orders come in lbs and there are different types of flavouring with different spice levels which you can choose. We also ordered a plate fresh oysters. We were in Tucson, far from the Harbour and they tasted a bit less fresh. But worth a try. While waiting, you can scribble on the walls. Put your name and anything you would like to say on it. But only on the wooden parts of it. Out orders came in bags with pails for you to discard the shells. The seafood was fresh and we dug in. You can ask for bibs and gloves to protect yourself from the fallout while you are tucking in. The spices were just right. We got the trifecta, which comprises of Cajun, Lemon pepper and Garlic. It was deliciously flavourful. Not to spicy or hot. Overall a great place for seafood. Definitely a homely place for dinner or lunch. But be prepared to spend some money. $$$ read more

This was our first time here--I had no idea this place even existed! Not in the "nicest" part of town--but easy to get to as its right off the freeway! The door is off to the side of the building--and if its your first time there, you may struggle to find it for a moment haha. The wait staff was super friendly and a wealth of information! Being our first time there, we had lots of questions. Thankfully, each question was completely answered. We are from Maryland and know our crabs...we were disappointed that the menu claimed to have Blue Crab...when in fact they no longer offer it?!?! That was harsh! That was the only reason we went there! They agreed to do some snow crab for us with only Old Bay seasoning on it...when it did come--there really wasn't much of the seasoning, which again disappointed. It came in a bag with some odd liquid at the bottom. The crab tasted "ok"---mind you, I am from Maryland and use to go down to the water and lay our traps and catch my own crabs and steam them live---so I guess you can say I am a bit of a crab snob. I used to come to this restaurant very frequently for special events as it was my family's go to spot. I will never be going back again after my last experience. We went for my birthday & I brought family from out of town expecting Angry Crab to give us the usual amazing experience the provide. Instead, they were rude, never checked on us, gave us a seafood boil bag with a HOLE IN IT and then never gave us another bag or sauce to be able to eat it with (until we were already finished), and then gave us another attitude when we brought our complaints up to one of the managers. This was ridiculous and they said that "they were supposed to be closed for reservations but stayed open because they weren't going to turn people away." Honestly, they should have because we were not the only upset people in there Dec. 2nd. A whole other family of 3 completely walked out without being served because they had waited so long and no one came up to them. Unacceptable. Never again! read more

Met a friend here for happy hour and we sat at the bar section in the newly opened Broadway location. The tables all have a sheet of butcher? paper on them. Unless you order something that's in a plastic bag (we watched other diners struggle with this), really just annoying, unnecessary and looks tacky. If you DO order your meal in the plastic bag, what a mess! We watched as people opened the bag only to have the liquid from inside run all over the table and onto their laps. ah... no. We ordered several items from the appetizer section of the menu. the food was pretty tasteless, we ended up leaving some uneaten. Who does that? Appetizers are supposed to be appetizing! (haha i'm funny) The service was awful. Our waitress was slow and unprepared to answer questions about the menu. We got one of our appetizers BEFORE we got our drinks! We watched our drinks sit on the bar at the waitress station for at least five minutes. The bar area had maybe four tables occupied and a few folks randomly at the bar.
