I went recently with my family to try this food. It smelled amazing. The customer service was great and they even gave my mom samples of the soup to help her decide. My dad got the Maharaja, my mom got the black lentil soup (and sampled the yellow lentil soup), and I got the Flavors of Bombay, we also shared a mango lassi and an order of flatbread. Although it looks like a hole in the wall I can tell you the food is frigging good. Excellent compare to other places of its level. Appu is a neighborhood centered establishment therefore they take the hit on fancy aesthetics rather than quality, quantity and cost. Don't get confused here, Appu ALSO OFFERS a strong breakfast menu as well; To help you get those brain cells fired up and ready to take on the day and all that comes along with it. I find the Lemongrass chai refreshing and I really like the spinach and lentil soups. Appu offers smoothies Bagels, breads, sandwiches, burritos, salads and a smile for the road. Just a few minutes for prep" *51 minutes later, I was still waiting for my food. ME: "Side of 911 sauce and chilis please" OWNER/MGR: After mixing all in, "oh that's how we make it." As a shared meal with my spouse (who loves spicy), most of the food I could not eat/enjoy. ME: "Samosa is dipped in to chaat (soup)...it's not soggy?" OWNER/MGR: "Oh no! Not at all. We make it ultra crispy" *30 seconds after getting the order I ate the samosa. Hot temp (was great) but samosa fell apart immediately ~ just a soggy potato mess ME: I placed my order. OTHER CUSTOMER: Lady after me placed her order 10-12 minutes later. Her order was ready 25-30 minutes prior to mine *Perhaps she was a regular and/or had smaller order but that time difference in readiness is not appealing to a new customer. Waste of a $40-$50 lunch. I could not enjoy the food - ultra spicy (due to owner mixing in the side sauce & green chili items meant to be sides). I come to the medical center often but will likely not re-order. On a partial day off it was disappointing to inhale a soggy samosa after waiting nearly 1 hour for the food :( **NOTE TO OWNER: You were bragging to the customer about all the money you're making. Hire/arrange/pay for help. And not a kid (like the one you had there) who had a language barrier. If it's a holiday, there will be more orders.
