    Hummus
    Melinda B.

Really lovely place. The chef is super cool and friendly. He loves sharing his craft and offered my coworker and I little bites to try. We were the only ones there for early lunch. We ordered beet salad, falafel balls, hummus, and a couple other plates I can't remember the names of. The dishes were so beautiful, colorful and fresh! They were a treat for the eye, for sure. Flavor was amazing, for nearly everything. The falafel were delectable and bright green inside. The hummus was creamy and silky. Flat bread for dipping was pillowy soft. I loved the appetizers. Where things fell slightly flat, for me, was my main dish. I ordered a ... gosh what is that called? It's like Kafta, or kebob? Where the meat is ground and shaped. Well, my portion of meat was so little. I ordered that dish specifically for meat, and 80% of it was salad, piled on top. The meat portion was flattened to the width of flat bread. The actual flat bread was placed underneath, as the base, and it became very soggy from the meat juice, moisture from vegetables and vinegarette. It quickly became soggy and unappetizing. The dressing on the vegetables was scant. So, the dish itself was beautiful but mainly undressed salad. The meat was flavorful; I wish I had more of it. The beet salad was gorgeous but far too sweet. I think a pomegranate molasses, or syrup, was used and it was heavy handed. The beet salad was more like a dessert. Apart from food, the restaurant is beautiful, comfortable, and inviting. Staff are pleasant and welcoming.

Dynamite service by Emily and outstanding food by Tony and Ana! Never a disappointment! Always so pleased with our delightful evening at Armov! Outstanding taste with beautiful presentation! We look forward to returning as often as we can! The top restaurant in the Palisades!!! The desserts are exceptional each and every time!!!

My pescatarian birthday sister loved it all !!

From the moment we walked in, service was excellent. We are not familiar with all flavors but the waitress was wonderful and explained. Wonderful wine menu with Armenian wines available. Each dish was better than the last. Prices were more than reasonable for pacific palisades, We're from The high desert (Palmdale area) and this was affordable for the high level of execution in each dish and for flavor profile. We will eat here again!

Anyone who is worried about Armav and leaving sentimental reviews, I would like to say that it is on Doordash! They are doing togo delivery service so this wonderful place and food is still able to be enjoyed even after the fire :)

Tunnels, Highway, the pacific coast. The drive through Santa Monica, into the pacific palisades. I have found The Armav. Parking garage is available a little past the store front. There is no sign, but a torn banner above the door and a folding sign on the side walk with the chalk fading. Upon entering there was no one attending to the door for a few minutes. Upon entering I get a casually "what do you want?" Table for 1 and I get offered a seat at the bar which I favor. There were no table settings, only a menu. I ordered the lamb chops and the prawns. The lamb chops came and I was not give a napkin or any sort of utensils. I was expected to eat with my hands. I had an Armenian beer as well. The lamb chops were delicious and the purple mash was on point. The green Chile lime reduction went very well with the purple mash and lamp chops. The prawns were fresh and you can definitely taste the sea. I loved the tomatoes peppers and feta in which the prawns swam. The toast went well with the tomato base. Although I ate an appetizer and entree to myself I was still hungry and as such the chef shared with me pita/hummus and a falafel plate. Imagine it or not I was still hungry. So I ordered a kebab which was delicious. Came with the yogurt, pickled onions, one single stick of louleh kebab. Devoured and still hungry. Ordered a large bottle of Pelegríno and it helped me digest. Lastly the waiter brings my receipt 2 times expecting me to leave. He was the worst and annoying. Too casual for an upscale restaurant. I want to be wined and dined not make friends with your staff. I speak directly to the chef and order a kafir dessert. Delicious. The food was amazing the wait staff was new and needs to be trained for service not at a burger joint but at a fine dining restaurant. Eat the food don't bother eating it at the restaurant, better service at home lol

Delectable Med food in an elegant setting! We all came away with very happy taste buds, and even the wallet was appreciative of the reasonably priced wine list! I admittedly was pretty stoked when I first saw news of a Mediterranean restaurant opening in our neighborhood in the winter of 2021, as it is one of my favorite cuisines. However, at the onset, the menu was pretty limited (I think it may have been prix fixe?) and did not feel it had that many vegetarian options for my husband. But most of all, the restaurant's beautifully sleek and elegant decor did not scream "kid friendly" as most of the Palisades Village restaurants do (even the $$$$ ones) -- which obviously is really only an issue for my personal separation-anxiety-toddler-sitution ha! So Armav got delegated to the "wish list of someday-maybe-when-adult-only-dining-happens-in-my-life-again".. but then on an impromptu Friday early evening during our regular "family date nights", we passed by an empty Armav (it was 4pm) and decided to give it a whirl after noticing a much more extensive menu than I had seen previously when it first opened. The owner Kim greeted us immediately, and helped coordinate all the sun umbrellas / heat lamps / high chairs to optimize our cozy outdoor table. We always prefer to sit outside, but I also still feel the interior is too sleek aka breakable for my toddler to be in ha. Kim walked us through the Armenian / Med menu, gave my husband all the vegetarian highlights and even brought out a delicious Gigandes plaki dish (tomato based stew w beans) off-menu for him. She admitted it was Greek, not Armenian, but one of her childhood favorites and we could see why. We ordered pretty much every vegetarian appetizer including the Armav mezze platter without charcuterie, perfectly flaky boureg (spinach feta phyllo), their hummus & fresh pita was to die for, and juicy grilled chicken kebabs for my son. The fried cauliflower was the only thing I'd skip next time. Everything was incredibly fresh, tantalizing and cooked to perfection, and Armav quickly won top foodie spot in the Palisades village for us. While I have never been to Armenia myself before, this meal evoked all the amazing food memories I have had traveling through the Mediterranean coast over the years. And just like in the Med, the service was warm and welcoming -- just like family hosting. And the wine list was very approachable, which is a rarity in this area and most restaurants for that matter! Highly recommend, and cannot wait to return! And maybe, someday, even without the kid and we can dare to dine with the giant wine goblet centerpieces inside ha!

Chef Tony, Emily, Ana and the owners (whom we didn't meet ) thank you for such a wonderful culinary experience! Angelinos and visitors, this is THE best restaurant in LA, hands down. Original take on Armenian interpretations of Eastern Mediterranean foods. Portions are huge, and emphasis is placed on using fresh CA ingredients. Chef Tony and Emily are very welcoming of the guests, and their passion for excellent food with relaxing, welcoming service shines. You will likely never have had, or will again anywhere else, experience versions of classic Mediterranean dishes such as Lula kabab and shawarma, in the abundant, colorful and artful way as presented here. It's different, in the best way possible. The combination of spices and colors is almost beyond logical description. The aroma is captivating and catches your nose, way up the street before you even arrive. Lovely atmosphere and service. Decor is a mix of sophisticated wine lovers' atmosphere, beautiful olive trees and edibles, such as cherry tomato, potato plants and herbs. They even made me like cauliflower. Best fried cauliflower ever, winning a double prize as both THE BEST cauliflower dish ever made, and best single item I've ever tasted in LA. Trust me and try it. Shnorhakalutyun, ¡gracias, and thank you!

    Very yummy pita.

We were drawn to this restaurant due to its very nice appearance, very chic inside and out, there was a lovely table by the fountain outside, which our server had no problem sitting us there. Service was great, our server was a young gentleman who spoke Armenian and Russian and it was great to chat with him. Food was very tasty, loved their hot dolma, chicken kebab, and cauliflower, they also had complimentary hummus with pita bread and pita and grilled carrots for our daughter. I tried two different Armenian wines and they were delicious with bold flavor. Cherry on top was their great paklava. I will be returning and will bring my Dad here who will appreciate delicious food, wine and awesome traditional service!

We had an absolutely fabulous family dinner at Armav tonight!!! The restaurant was lovely, spacious and clean, with a very nice patio, as well. The menu is thoughtful, creative and innovative. The service by Juan Carlos was beyond excellent! He truly catered to our every need and was so gracious. All of the staff were friendly and welcoming. And Chef Tony was so sweet in taking such great care of my every Gluten-Free need. He was so gracious to us and his food is absolutely delicious, fresh, colorful and beautiful. From the hummus to the beet & burrata salad to the mouth watering filet and lamb kebabs, that I had, to the yummiest coconut ice cream.... We definitely will be back and highly recommend The Armav!!!

I was out-and-about without that Lady and looking for something unusual, well as luck would have it I walked by a new addition to dining in the Palisades Village. Armav is new and Armenian/Mediterranean cuisine by the same people who brought us K's Bakery (Yum). Anyway, the interior and furnishings are stunning and beautifully tasteful. The layout and ambiance are killer. The service by Audrey was nonpareil and the food beautifully plated and tastefully done. It is healthy, tasty, with the feel of fine dining, and this was lunch, in an elegant European Spa. I tried an appetizer of fried cauliflower and zucchini - excellent, and a kebab-Thelike plate. But the piece de resistance, a trio sampler of dessert - out of the ballpark Good!

Had an extraordinary Armenian-Mediterranean dinner at Armav. The food was exceptionally fresh, delicious and health conscious, the service was excellent and the decor is elegant and beautiful. The decor reminded me of a Michael Mina restaurant. Simple clean lines, blond woods, comfortable dining chairs upholstered in leathers and neutral fabrics. Bright, huge windows, doors wide open. The dining room and open kitchen are spotless. Not crowded on a Tuesday evening -- only two other tables were occupied -- one by a noteworthy celebrity. Suitable for both a business meeting or a romantic rendezvous. Our group of five ordered two appetizers and several main dishes. The Armav appetizer is a combination platter of slightly pickled carrots, white and purple cauliflower, hummus and another smoked dip, grape leaves. Served with pita bread. The waiter was happy to bring extra pita bread when my children asked for more. We also ordered dates stuffed with cheese and wrapped with prosciutto which was unusual and absolutely delicious. The mains were served with a rice pilaf, tabouli, and grilled vegetables. The steak special was extraordinary. The meat was tender and delicious. Portions are extremely generous -- two can easily split. one. I ordered a salad and the Avgolemeno soup. Honestly after the appetizers I couldn't finish my salad or soup. The soup was a solid "good" but not exceptional. I thought it could have been more lemony and more seasoned. I was delighted when my children asked for soft drinks and the hostess had to explain they carry only an Orangina type soda, a blueberry-infused iced tea and sparkling waters. However, I was also surprised when we were told that we had been served the restaurant's last two bottles of sparkling water and that no more were available. We did not investigate the wine list. These tiny hiccups were nothing compared to the general deliciousness and graciousness of the experience. We were comfortable, never rushed and graciously hosted and we will return soon!

Their arayes are a must -- it's basically like a lahmajun with two pieces pressed together, and it's insanely good. I usually go all in and order the tabbouleh, babaganoush, a pound of lula kebab, and shish kebab. Honestly, if you're with 2+ people (or even just really hungry), ordering by the pound with sides is way better value than getting individual plates. You get more variety and it just feels like the right way to eat here. Every now and then I'll switch it up and get the liver plate -- it comes with tons of greens and onions, and when you wrap everything in their fresh pita, it's incredible. Not an everyday order, but when you're in the mood for it, it hits. If you dine in, the indoor decor is super nice and really gives that authentic Mediterranean vibe. They also play a lot of 90s music, which somehow fits perfectly and adds to the whole experience. I've dined in plenty of times and the service is always solid -- staff is friendly and attentive. Just a heads up, food can take a little longer sometimes, but that's because they're always busy and everything is made fresh, so it's worth the wait. I've also done takeout here more times than I can count -- probably over 100 orders at this point -- which says everything. This is easily one of my go-to spots and I keep coming back for a reason.

From the moment we arrived, the vibe felt off. The host who seated us (who later turned out to also be a server) left us at the table, and no one approached us for about 10 minutes. When a server finally came over, the first thing she said was "Ready? Ready?", no greeting, no welcome, nothing. We were never brought water. I had to ask a busser for it because the server walked past our table multiple times, clearly saw us, and chose to ignore us. The food runner was also rude, he dropped the plates on the table without saying a single word. Throughout the entire meal, no one checked on us. No "How is everything?" No "Do you need anything?" Nothing at all. Meanwhile, we noticed that nearby tables were being greeted, checked on, and treated kindly. When we asked for the check, the server literally threw it on the table without saying a word. The experience was so bad that we decided not to leave a tip; Something we never do, especially since we truly value good service and I personally work in the restaurant industry. I don't know if the treatment had anything to do with how we looked or how we were dressed, but I've never felt so ignored and uncomfortable in a restaurant before. The food may be fine, but the service completely ruins the experience. I would not return or recommend this place.

On to the food - we ordered the eggplant appetizer, it's similar to baba ghanouj but this one is a bit spicier and so yummy with the bread that came with it. We also ordered khinkali which is Georgian's version dumplings (we ordered the boiled version but there's also fried ones available). The OG Soup Dumpling: Why Khinkali House is Glendale's Best Kept Secret…read more Let's get one thing straight: if you think the "soup dumpling" started with a two-hour wait outside a Din Tai Fung, you're about 600 years late to the party. While the culinary world is currently obsessed with the delicate, bite-sized Xiao Long Bao--which didn't even show up until the 1870s in Shanghai--the Georgians have been perfecting this craft since the 13th-century Mongol invasions. Khinkali is the OG. It's the rugged, fist-sized ancestor that doesn't need a bamboo steamer basket or a delicate, nervous touch. It's a meal that requires soul, a bit of primitive technique, and a complete disregard for your clean shirt. Tucked away on Artsakh Avenue, Khinkali House is where you go to pay your respects to this ancient culinary titan. Atmosphere and the Art of the Rainy Day I happened to drop in on a rare, miserable rainy day in Glendale, and let me tell you, sitting out in their roomy, covered patio area while the water drummed against the roof was pure atmospheric gold. It's the kind of setting that demands heavy, unapologetic comfort food. The service here is sharp, warm, and attentive--the kind of old-school hospitality that makes you feel like a regular before you've even opened the menu. The Opening Act: Borscht with Soul You don't just jump into a pile of massive dumplings. You have to prepare the palate. I started with a bowl of their Borscht, and it was exquisite. It arrived as a deep, vibrant crimson pool of beet-infused soul, swimming with tender beef, cabbage, carrots, and potatoes. It was earthy, slightly sweet, and served at a temperature that could ward off any chill in your bones. It's the kind of bowl that tells you immediately that this kitchen isn't just following a recipe; they're honoring a bloodline. The Main Event: The Four Pillars of Khinkali Then came the heavy hitters. Unlike the thin-skinned, elegant Xiao Long Bao, Khinkali is built for battle. It's a massive, boiled parcel with a thick, satisfyingly chewy dough gathered at the top into a sturdy little knot or "handle" (the kudi). You don't eat the handle--you use it to hoist the beast, bite a small hole in the side, aggressively slurp out the liquid gold trapped inside, and then devour the rest. I worked my way through all four flavors, and each was a masterclass in balance: Ground Beef & Pork: The classic heavyweight. The moment you pierce the dough, a rich, heavily spiced, aggressively savory broth floods your spoon. The meat is fatty in all the right ways, laced with herbs that cut through the richness. It is purely addictive. Lamb: A masterclass in bold, unapologetic flavor. The lamb adds a deeply gamey, sophisticated depth that grounds the entire dish. As it boils, the rendered fat mixes with the internal cooking liquids inside that thick doughy cavern to create a broth that is darker, earthier, and aggressively flavorful. It's a heavy, soulful revelation that hits you right in the chest. Mushroom: Often treated as a vegetarian afterthought in other places, here it's a star. It hits you with a massive wave of umami. The mushrooms are tender and earthy, producing a fragrant, woodsy liqueur inside the dumpling that makes you realize you don't need meat to create a complex masterpiece. Georgian Cheese (The Undisputed Champion): I'm just going to say it--this was my absolute favorite. It is an exercise in pure, primal decadence. Instead of a meat broth, biting into this unleashes a molten, gooey river of tangy, salty Georgian cheese. It pulls, it stretches, and the sharp, slightly funky bite of the cheese against the warm, thick dough is a spiritual experience. I could eat ten of these and die happy. The Return Trip The tragedy of Khinkali House is that the dumplings are so filling, you have to leave the rest of the menu unexplored. But I am already plotting my return. Next time, I'm coming back for the Adjarskiy Khachapuri--that famous Georgian boat-shaped bread loaded with melted cheese and crowned with a fresh egg yolk and a pat of butter. I also have my eye on the Zhengyalov Hatz (a traditional Armenian herb-filled flatbread), and the wildly intriguing Osetrina (Sturgeon) Skewer, which you just don't see every day. The Verdict: Respect the Elders Let's cut the noise. Xiao Long Bao is great for a polite, light lunch, but Khinkali is for when you want to feel something real. Khinkali House has managed to bring a 13th-century mountain staple to a Glendale patio and make it feel like the most relevant thing on the street. It's bold, it's historical, and it's flat-out delicious. If you want to experience the true evolution of the dumpling, get yourself to Khinkali House. Grab a handle, watch the rain, and eat like a Georgian highlander. You can thank me later.

Food was good and our server was nice, but I was honestly confused and disappointed with the way…read moregratuity/tips were handled. We were 4 adults and 1 child, and an automatic 18% gratuity was already included in the bill. However, on the receipt the section saying "tips not included" was circled, which made it seem like gratuity had NOT been added yet. Because of that confusion, I ended up leaving an additional cash tip. I understand restaurants may add gratuity automatically for larger groups, but if gratuity is already included, the receipt and staff should make that clear instead of circling "tips not included." It creates unnecessary confusion for customers. Also, automatically adding gratuity regardless of service feels questionable. Thankfully our server was kind, but if service had been poor, customers should still feel they have a choice regarding tipping.
