I was like a hog roasting in a hot oven! This morning was up to temperature. Session 2 in the Fire House in the early afternoon... Much busier and more uncouth people disturbing the peace with their very annoying whispering. I came here with a group of girlfriends for my friend's birthday, and none of us had been to a Korean spa before. Honestly, it was confusing from the start. There wasn't much direction on where to go, what order to do things in, how the facilities worked, or what you were supposed to do if you booked extra services. We also came with one guy and a group of girls, so we didn't realize right away that we'd all be separated. Between that, people going off for body scrubs or massages, and everyone trying to figure it out as we went, I don't think we used the spa the way it was meant to be used at all. We ended up kind of bouncing around, asking what to do next, hanging out in the common area for a bit, and then leaving. The actual body scrub/massage add-on was fine, but overall it just felt disorganized and not very beginner-friendly. I've since seen friends go back and actually know what they're doing -- using the pools, sauna rooms, eating afterward, spending real time there -- and I can see how it could be a much better experience if you know the flow. But for a first-timer, especially with a group, I wish there had been a little more guidance.

Having booked the service, we were allowed to utilize the amenities located in the spa. In order to get to the spa (if you're not staying in the hotel), you had to drive into the front entrance of the hotel. This is located on the side opposite of PCH. The only real option to park is through valet service which the spa takes care of as part of the cost of the service. Our massages were booked for 2pm but we arrived around 11:30am to have lunch and enjoy the amenities. The food was pretty good and the servings were plentiful. We got a chicken Cesar wrap and the charcuterie board. You're able to eat and have the food brought over just like you were ordering room service, it was definitely room service cost and they charged for delivery to the garden. After we finished eating, we lounged in the garden to catch some sun. This is the part where I say that it almost fit the bill... the weather loved tents providing shade had mold on the canvas. Maybe it was just weather warn because it does stay outside all year round? Not sure but I'm thinking that it definitely looked like mold to me. After the sun, we enjoyed the indoor amenities of steam room, sauna and jacuzzi. For me, there a few other patrons enjoying the amenities but my boyfriend said that he pretty much had the men's locker room all to himself. My favorite part about the amenities was the shower. The shower had a rainfall shower, a handheld shower and then several steam shower heads on three of the walls. The products in the shower smelled great and I would definitely use them again. For our massages, we have the couples suite. The room was absolutely gorgeous complete with 2 massage tables, 2 sinks, a gorgeous tub, 2 separate showers this beautiful stone piece on the far wall. Massages were great and relaxing. After the massages, our massage therapists led us out to the garden again to pretty much recover from the service and it was definitely needed. Upon checking it out from our service, we perused the gift shop. There were cute clothing pieces there as well as the products that were utilized as part of some of the services. When paying, they let us know that the gratuity was already covered in the cost so that was nice. Given the cost for each service, I thought it was a generous but also fair tip. Because we finished late afternoon, we decided to walk down to the pier and venture around there. We were able to keep the car there and the hotel bellman allowed us to store our gym bags in the hotel as well, all at no extra cost. If I was looking to splurge again, I would probably come back. What would sweeten the deal is if we were able to use the hotel pool too but they said that it is only allowed during the weekdays when the pool isn't too busy.

I returned to this massage place because every time I have serious issues of knots in my body, a therapist named Kim who is working here is able to fix them. Thus I only make appointments with her. She is the BEST. Hence, it took seversl times of sessions and mostly 90 minutes of sessions for 3 weeks as my issues are big but they were so worth it. I was able to sleep 5-6 hours after the first 2 sessions. After the last session I was able to sleep 8 hours! No more insomnia. My body was all sore, tight, and ache-y and Kim knew it. She asked when was the last time I had a massage? Lol. Well more than a year ago! She gave hard massages so beware of the pressure but I love this kind of massage since it will fix my body. I came out as a brand new person. This is the best massage you can get. I am also a 15-years customer of this place.
