The presentation of the geoduck is stunning -- a grand tray of perfectly thin-sliced sashimi that immediately catches your eye. The salt-and-pepper fried version is quite good, but the sashimi is easily the highlight. The grilled steak was solid as well. I enjoyed it more on our first visit; the second time, it leaned a bit too salty and slightly overcooked. The Peking duck, on the other hand, was phenomenal -- one of the best I've ever had. The presentation was elegant, and the showmanship added to the whole experience. We also tried the Dungeness crab and avocado cold dish appetizer. Visually, it's beautiful, though a touch heavy on the mayonnaise. The seasonal sea cucumber special came in a small tray with a candle underneath to keep it warm -- a nice touch. We learned, however, that leaving it heated for too long can cause it to melt. The flavor was excellent, but ordering one per person felt excessive. Sharing three among five people would have been perfect. We ordered a bottle of Pinot Noir, and everyone loved it. The food was decent, but unfortunately the service was extremely disappointing. After we were seated, we waited about 15 minutes and no one came to greet us or ask if we wanted drinks. Once our food finally started to arrive, that was the only opportunity we had to ask for tea refill and napkins because no one checked on our table. When we finished eating, we needed to-go boxes and our check, but again no one came by. After waiting quite a while, I finally had to get up and walk over to a server just to ask for our bill. Throughout the meal, I noticed other tables receiving attentive service while ours seemed to be completely overlooked. Let me start by saying I had extremely low expectations for the service because both Yelp and Dianping gave this place poor ratings in that department. I did not experience that at all. In fact, our server Bob was great and even brought us complimentary dessert at the end of our meal. We came for an early Father's Day dinner on a Thursday and were surprised to see so many people walking in without reservations. It is great to see this location thriving, as it previously struggled when it was Zen Buffet and another restaurant before that. Our party of eight ordered a wide variety of dishes. Here is a breakdown of what we tried: Crispy Shrimp in Plum Sauce: Very crispy with a sweet sauce. Overall delicious. Stir Fried Wagyu Beef with Chilies and Vegetables: The beef was tender, had a fantastic wok hei taste, and a nice spicy kick. Very good. Eel Rice in Clay Pot: My absolute favorite dish of the night. They require you to order this 40 minutes in advance because of the cooking time, but it is worth the wait. The amount of eel was very generous, and they give you the soy sauce on the side so you can control the seasoning. I just wish there was more crispy rice on the bottom, but still delicious. Smoked Shanghai Fish: This had a braised flavor that instantly triggered childhood nostalgia. It might not be for everyone, but I found it delicious. Jelly Fish Cold Platter: This was way different than what you get at traditional Cantonese restaurants. It was much crunchier than expected, and the vinegary flavor paired with the cucumbers was incredibly refreshing. Peking Duck: We opted for the tableside show instead of the BOGO version. The duck was delicious and came with pancakes. They slice it in two ways, plating the crispy breast skin separately from the actual meat. The skin was incredibly succulent. Pea Sprouts: Delicious, though we did notice a few older pieces mixed in. Nothing to really complain about, though. Wagyu Beef Fried Rice with Truffle: This was just okay and not something I would order again. The staff cleaned up our plates constantly, almost to the point of being too much, but it made the meal feel quite fancy and upscale. Overall we spent just about $600 including tax and tip, which felt very reasonable given the quality of the food and service. They also packaged all our to-go food nicely in a reusable bag. A few quick notes for anyone planning to visit. A private room requires a $600 minimum before the 20% service charge and tip is applied. For parking, your best bet is to park at Tak Shing Hong, which had plenty of spots during the evening. I am not sure if this place has the full Michelin factor yet, but it is very close and may earn one eventually. The locals clearly love this place and the decor is intimate. Array 36 is a high end Chinese restaurant in Temple City. It's in the same location as TS Emporium, and there's a parking lot (though it gets busy and full). The restaurant looks fancy in the inside and is generally dark in lighting. I went for a Saturday dinner with a reservation. When speaking with the front desk, I was disappointed when they questioned 3x whether my entire party was there even though I said yes (two times) and my party was the only one in the waiting area. Our waiter was good. He came by often for water and to grab utensils and bowls as needed. However, we had an instance where a bowl was dirty (had dried brown sauce in the inside). Hopefully this is not a common occurrence, but it was disappointing there wasn't impeccable attention to detail in cleanliness. Now onto food... the presentation was grand. Some dishes were fantastic, others not so much. I recommend the black truffle beef fried rice ($22) - it was super fragrant and has some small, real truffle pieces. The slow cooked beef short ribs ($88) is also fantastic - the meat is super tender and melts in the mouth, but it was pretty bland without the accompanying sauces (not all the sauces were flavorful either). For a mid-sized party, the small order of the fried prawns, Choy sum vegetable dish, and fish slice + mustards green in golden sour soup is sufficient. Those aren't a crowd favorite, but they were still good. The drunken pork neck ($32) was too sweet with okay portion size. I personally do not recommend the spicy vermicelli hotpot ($22) if you're not into numbing spice. In short, these dishes looked grand but the taste was okay. Unfortunately, they do not do any Chubby Plus membership deals/perks Saturday dinner - I learned this the hard way. The bill was expensive. This is the first restaurant that reminded me of food from my hometown. Came here to celebrate my wife's birthday and it did not disappoint. Food Peking Duck - I didn't think this was actually the highlight of their restaurant, although it was good, I've had better at other restaurants. Huaiyang Bean Curd - this was my favorite dish because the soup was extremely flavorful. It's really difficult to make a dish that's light yet flavorful, I think the ingredients brought out the flavors well. Crab Roe Tofu - I wish this was more hot when it was brought to the table, it didn't have much flavor and the crab roe didn't taste fresh. Pork and Vegetable Rice - this was also a highlight dish, the rice was perfectly cooked where you can taste every grain, whereas most restaurants make it too soggy. The smokiness of the pork and crispy veggies really rounded the dish well. Sautéed Eel - this dish is meant to be very heavy in terms of flavor and it was definitely rich and garlic heavy. The only thing was the dish is too salty even when consumed with rice. Service was pretty standard for a Chinese restaurant, I don't think it was to the level of fine dining. We ordered the special Peking duck, with the promotion, BOGO to redeem in the next visit, crispy shrimp, steamed fish, pea sprouts stir fry with garlic, pickled okra and Chawanmushi. If you selected the Peking duck promotion, there will not be a show at the table. It will all cut up on the plate. It came with 10 pancakes and the normal condiments. The duck itself has no flavor and the skin is not crispy at all. If you need an additional, there is a charge of $10 per request. $10 of the pancakes, $10 for the sauce and scallion, etc.... The steamed fish is just a mehhhh. The crispy shrimp and the garlic pea sprouts stir fry were good. The venue and the services were excellent but That's it. They nickel and dime you for everything. Service was wonderful. Leo was very helpful and attentive! Prawns - Very crispy - can even eat the shrimp shell! Definitely a more unique dish with the plum powder sprinkled on top giving it a tangy, slightly sour twist. Would be better if they added more glaze on top though as the shrimp lacks flavor without it. Cumin Lamb - I've had this elsewhere but it was AMAZING here. Strong cumin flavor with well cooked lamb that's still moist but has the right amount of char. Flavor was simply excellent. It's a pretty big portion too! Beans - Simply delicious! There was plenty of beef that was cooked perfectly. The balance of the sour, mala and saltiness of the soup was perfect. Vermicelli underneath was cooked perfectly as well - super bouncy texture! Duck - I thought it was weird that you need to pay extra for soup and show separately but there's a reason it's their signature. Perfectly cooked duck with crispy skin. A classically good peking duck. Shanghai Scallion Pancake - one of their seasonal items but it was better than expected. Gooey center with a perfectly crispy exterior. There's a little bit of sweetness as well to compliment the green onion flavor. Definitely a perfect and elevated version of a classic. The meats overall were rather lean but not dry, which is how I prefer it. Tried this place once before but would say the dishes I had today were much better. Would definitely recommend against ordering the crab roe dish - just tasted like bland oil. My one gripe with the menu though is that there's dishes from all over China, which makes it feel like this place lacks a bit of identity. Treated my mother here for her birthday and the family had a wonderful dining experience. The ambiance and aesthetics/decor were very well thought out, modern and extravagant. The entrance door was artfully decorated with metal art, so it's quite heavy. After you enter, you are greeted with a giant waterfall with digital art displayed on it. It's quite dark inside, but it is part of what gives it the special intimate - luxurious dining feel. Staff were friendly and service overall was decent. They were nice enough to keep the cake that I brought along with us in their kitchen fridge while we dined and even allowed us to cut & eat the cake after our meal at the restaurant. A lot of places do not allow for outside food, so this gesture was appreciated. We liked that they give you warm, wet, hand towels to wipe your hands with. We tried the following... 1. Truffle Hand Pulled Chicken (4.75/5) This is a cold chicken dish that is doused with truffle oil and topped with cilantro and onion. It was super truffle-y. If you are a truffle flavor fan and like the cilantro-onion herbs, this is a must get. The chicken was fresh and tender. When paired with the truffle and herb flavors, it's mouth-watering. 2. Blueberry Jelly with Japanese Yam (3.5/5) Love the presentation of this dish and the unique concept as I have never seen anything like this before. It is basically sweet yam on the inside enclosed in a jelly shell made from beet juice and blueberry vinegar. The shape is super cute, but it is very delicate and breaks easily; it's a 1 biter for sure. In terms of flavor, it just tasted sweet. None of us could taste any yam or blueberry flavoring. 3. Osmanthus-infused Sticky Rice-stuffed Lotus Root (5/5) Another unique dish that we haven't seen anywhere else. It's essentially sliced lotus root that's stuffed with sticky rice in the holes of the lotus root. Then, it is glazed over with a red-rice, osmanthus-honey glaze of sorts. You can subtly taste the osmanthus, which gives a mild floral flavor. This dish was good, but filling, so def. a sharing dish. Lastly, it is topped with a vibrant green leaf shaped crackers that are edible and taste just like those shrimp chips you find at the Asian grocery stores. 4. Array 26 Signature Roast Duck (10/5) THIS IS WHAT YOU COME HERE FOR Not only do they perform a mini fire show right in front of you, but the chef will cut the entire duck for you. First, they serve the top skin layer, then a 2nd plate containing sliced duck meat, and lastly, a 3rd place of sliced duck meat that they smoke in this smoke-vat. Of course, it is served with a side of the traditional thin pancake that you wrap the meat in, duck sauce, green onion, cucumber and brown sugar. Dip the crispy duck skin with a bit of that brown sugar -- OMGeee out of this world good. We also really liked the smoked version as well. The way they prepared this was not only visually cool, but the taste was amazingly smokey and fragrant. So worth the $$$ The only thing I wish they did was save the duck remains/bones and make duck stew/broth out of it as part of that price. That way, you literally are using every bit of that duck. 5. Teppanyaki Beef Ribs (5/5) Super tender short rib beef cubes that are spiced to perfection. They use a spice called Zanthoxylum Schinifolium Etzucc, which gives it a peppery-star anise, lemony flavor profile + red pepper and grilled onions. It paired well with the beef fried rice 6. Beef Fried Rice (4.5/5) A very hefty fried rice that has a pleasant lard flavor. 7. Homemade Thousand Layer Pancake (4.5/5) A plain, doughy, yet very crispy fried pancake. The layers of crispy goodness is what this dish is all about. It's a bit on the greasy side though, so by no means is this a "healthy" dish. 8. Grouper Fish (4/5) It's supposed to be live fish, but when the waiter brought it over for us, the fish seemed dead already. Anyway, it's steamed and served with ginger slices, scallions and a light black bean sauce. For the price of $130, I personally would say, go for the whole duck instead. The duck is carved table side and set on fire first. they serve it 3 different ways (just skin, sliced for crepe pancakes, and smoked). it's really a great experience. The duck was delicious, I just wish the hoison was better. Id also pass on the pork belly with quail eggs. The spot prawn was delicious as was the fried shrimp. As of June 2025 they are offering a bogo on the duck where you buy one now and get a free one next time. From the outside it looks decent, but the interior is where the restaurant really stands out with a much more polished and modern feel. It worked out well for a group setting and everyone overall enjoyed the food and the experience. The food itself is good, though personally I've had stronger flavors at places like Bistro Na's. That said, Array 36 runs promotions fairly often, especially on their duck dish, which makes it worth keeping an eye out for deals. One thing I did appreciate was the service. The staff has always been friendly, and after one visit we accidentally left a few items behind. They actually called us the next morning to let us know, which was thoughtful and says a lot about their attentiveness. Overall it's a solid spot in San Gabriel with a nice interior, good service, and a menu that works well for group dining. If you're in the area it's definitely worth checking out. read more

After attending my husband's friend's daughter's Birthday, my son still wanted to eat something else. We don't know the area much so we decided to just drive around and found this place called "ARRAY 36", the area of the outside is not pretty in my opinion, but my Son wanted to eat already. When we got inside to check them out, omg the place was Beautiful so that I decided that we should stay and dine in. There's so much on their Menu to choose from, but my Boys just trusted me to order, so here is what I chose to order: *ARRAY 36 SIGNATURE ROAST DUCK *CHEESY SHRIMPS VOLCANO *BLACK TRUFLE BEEF FRIED RICE Our ARRAY 36 SIGNATURE ROAST DUCK was served table side. When I saw a cart being pushed by a chef near our table, I knew I had to turn my Camera on and I'm glad I did 'coz the Chef Fired UP the DUCK in FLAMES and it was in a big beautiful fire! After the Flame was done, the Chef cut the meats. First he cut the crispy skin and placed them on our table and another cut was just all the meats together and the last one was meats that he put through a smoker. Overall, the presentation is beautiful! I thought that was the end of the wow-factor of our food when the Chef Left our table, but then it was Followed by this CHEESY SHRIMP VOLCANO. It has Noodles with Shrimps and it wowed us again 'coz this time it looks like a Chopticks with Noodles hanging in the Air ;) . It's so freaking cool! Our Fried rice had good portions, but I had no Cocktail 'coz they said they don't have any yet on their list. So they also gave us these sets of Vegetables, wrappers, and sauce, these are the ones you would use to wrap your Smoked Duck and believe me this is a good once you make your wrap with everything on it. The Skin of the Duck was so crispy, just the way we like it. We ate the rest of the Duck the Chef had cut for us with the delicious Fried Rice. Now for the CHEESY SHRIMP VOLCANO, it has the Chopstick hanging in the Air with Noodles and Shrimp that you guys see in my pics, omg this is also a must get, this was very Tasty and delicious! This one tasted so good, the SHRIMPS were big and meaty and the sauce was so perfect on the noodles, it's so good! The ambiance was very nice, the food was delicious, and we had great service from Frank. We enjoyed our first dining experience here. And for the Parking, there's plenty of spots to park. read more

Beautiful restaurant with really good service! We came for my friend's bday and we were given the private dining room. It was beautiful and they even gave us our own bathroom. I loved the ambiance here. Now onto the food. I thought most of the dishes were good but nothing outstanding. They mainly tasted like traditional Chinese restaurant food. We did get two ducks and they had a little show for us to watch which was really cool! I would recommend this place for a cool special occasion but food wise, it's mediocre. This place is definitely worth a try once though. read more

Wanted so much to like this restaurant! The one item we ordered that we loved were the vegetables, they were delicious! The shrimp was just OK. The noodle dish we ordered "mild" but was mild spicy, too much for me! The pancake was most disappointing, no flavor, no salt, the only onion flavor was the green onion on top of it!
