We went on Valentines Day. It was my girlfriend's first time there. I knew she'd love the aesthetic. It's small, dark, quiet, and romantic. I love the way they serve: the food comes out when it's ready. It's so easy to pace ourselves and really enjoy the food, but also to get lost in conversation. I never felt rushed to move on, and I felt like we could have stayed there half the night. Brian checked in on us and was so friendly. We decided to share everything, and I'm so glad. Honestly I wish we could have tasted every single thing on the menu. The restaurant smelled so delicious. We started with the Roast Beets. The bed of whipped herbed ricotta the sweet creaminess of the dates, and the crunch of the pistachio was so dreamy, and the contrasting textures of beet chips and the beets made this appetizer beautiful and delicious. We ordered the pan-seared branzino which is served with puréed cauliflower beets (which tasted totally different to our appetizer), and wilted greens. The fish was exquisite, but I didn't eat as much as I wanted to because we also ordered meat and she's trying to not eat much meat, so I wanted her to have more fish. Next we shared the baby back ribs with were spiced with Turkish Coffee, grape molasses, and a perfectly balanced spice rub. There was perfect caramelization. The meat fell off the bones it was so tender. For dessert we had warm rice pudding which balanced out the meal perfectly. It was a wonderful meal in a beautiful space. I wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant. It's lovely for a romantic meal, but, that said, it's not a very large menu - if you go with 4 or 5 friends you could order everything and share all of it! I hope I do that one day. Sorry I didn't take pictures. I was too busy looking at my girlfriend. The only negative thing I have to say is that there is no valet and parking was difficult - at least it was on Valentine's Day. I hate looking for parking, so I actually can turn this negative into a positive by saying that the food is good enough that I'm willing to drive in circles to go there. read more

I have heard of my friends talking about this spot for a while and finally got to try it out! I would suggest coming here with a small group of 4 people so you can try out all their signature dishes! My favorite were Tahani toast, fried cauliflower, babaganoush, turmeric fried rice, baby back ribs and their prawns with couscous (my absolute favorite!) Everything was great, they have a cute patio area (might be great if they offer bug spray as I got a few bug bites after). Service was a little slow but I think it's because our server was also taking care of another table inside. We were so happy here! Made it to a date high and every dish had us happy. We started with the beet salad...I say this as someone who doesn't love beets but I really enjoyed this one. Then we got the baba ganoush, and while that was good, the fresh warm bread it came with was the winner. That was followed by the lamb shank dinner...the lamb itself was tender and delicious but the stew was spicy! Skip the red peppers if you can't or don't want to tolerate the spice. The final dish we had with barely space left to eat was the beef tongue gnocchi. The crunch at the end of it had us so happy. Staff did a great job recommending different dishes to try. We did family style and had a blast tasting everything! + Market fatoush 5/5: Server said this tasted like the "sunshine" from the lemony vinaigrette and he was not kidding. The freshest salad! + Fried cauliflower 5/5: Wow, the cauliflower was so flavorful with spice and tahini. It tasted better than I expected. + Beef tongue shawarma gnocchi 5/5: Beef tongue was so tender! I think our server provided some sauce on the side saying that some customers think it's not salty enough... it was fine without the additional sauce. + Hanger steak 5/5: Well-cooked steak with crispy brussel sprouts on the side. + Seared scallop 5/5: The scallops looked overcooked and dry but it was actually cooked just right and super soft. Listen to me! There is nooooo reason why All Time is poppin 24/7 and this place isn't. I'm probably going to regret saying this as I work my way out of getting an easy reservation, but if you're sleeping on this place it's a mistake! The food is soooo good and fresh and unique! Never in my life have I had something like the flavor profile of the tahini toast. Everything we had was so yummy and for me a huge bonus was the generosity of herbs on every plate. Wow! The dinner I had here last night was SO delicious. Split the Spicy Potato as an app and the flavors and textures were fantastic - crispy potatoes, tangy feta and lemon with a perfect kick to it all with the harissa. Could eat this for days. I had the scallops, which were cooked beautifully and had a nice combo of sweet and savory. My friend ordered the Baby Back Ribs - phenomenal!! Rich and complex but balanced. The meat was so tender. Still thinking about it... We also split the Turmeric Fried Rice - yet another winner...great mix of textures and flavors with a little spicy kick. Yes. This place is amazing. Super cute location and vibe and delicious food. My cousin and I ordered the fried cauliflower (they actually fry the cauliflower without batter - which was delicious), the babaganoush (amazing!), and their Hanger Steak with roasted brussell sprouts. Everything we had was so good. But the standout for me was the Hanger Steak and the Cauliflower. The steak was perfectly cooked and all the flavors and textures were there. The service was also top notch. They were so attentive and on top of things the "sipping" soup once you sit down was also a nice touch. Also, and most importantly, do not miss the kunefe/knuafeh. I've travelled to Turkey, Egypt, and Greece so I've had a lot of this dessert in my time and I can say that their take on the dessert is so unique. I loved it! Last night was probably my third time in years that I visited Bowery Bungalow. I remember last time (maybe 3-4 years ago) being very disappointed in the food execution but we came for a last-minute Valentine's reservation. I had hope it would be different. But it was just as disappointing as last time. The ribs and beef tongue were overcooked. The "gnocchi" was not gnocchi at all but, instead, bland blobs of mashed potato with the overcooked beef tongue on top. The charred broccoli and potatoes with harissa appetizer were good, and they earned the two stars, but for the price the food overall lacked in flavor and execution. Overpriced is rarely in my vocabulary, but for the money spent there are far better restaurants in LA. The restaurant design and backyard area are nice, if you care less about the food and more about an aesthetic. read more

Food was not great but good if you do t know Mediterranean food. The steak was great the couscous overloaded with veggies and apples. The hummus minimal with a can of garbanzo beans in top. Unfortunately I'd give it another chance if it wasn't for the service. We waited 20 minutes and went twice to ask for menus, water etc. Another 10 minutes they changed waiters and he came literally once after to offer dessert. If you go, seat in the main patio. We were thrown in the back patio and we had to stand 3 times to remind them we were there. Brought my parents from out of town here with the family and we did the recommended shared dishes dinner. First off, these are not tapas, they are full meals and you eat family style, which we love!! Second, the ambience, especially outside is perfect; it's cozy and well lit well. Now to the food; bringing my dad, who is an executive chef, *anywhere is quite difficult because he is often not happy with most restaurants lol however, he was impressed, satisfied, and overall blown away by the flavors. My husband brought me here a few weeks ago for my birthday dinner. I was a bit thrown off when we arrived because it just looks like a regular house on the outside. We made reservations for 6pm which is when it opens. We got there at 5:50 and they let us in about 5 minutes before 6pm. The ambiance in there is so romantic. Dim lighting inside and cute patio seating outside with trees and heaters. The menu doesn't have a huge variety, but honestly, it's not needed. Mediterranean food is my favorite and it's hard to come across a restaurant that finds their niche then perfects it without breaking the bank. I ordered the Babaganoush, Chicken Kabobs, and the beef kabobs. The beef was AMAZING. I've never had beef skewers so tender and juicy. I loved it! And the babaganoush was so flavorful. Had a double date here and we absolutely loved it!! It's set in a really cute, intimate space. It seems like the restaurant was once a house. Parking can be tricky, we luckily found street parking in a residential neighborhood across the street. The service is great, everyone is very sweet and kind and knowledgeable. We sat outside in the patio and thankfully there were heaters too so it wasn't so bad. Also, thankfully I had booked a reservation for my party in advance too. We got the spicy potatoes and babaganoush and lamb entree. All of it was so so delicious! Everything is family style too which was great. I loved their Vietnamese pho take on the lamb -- so so good. Located in what appeared to be a former house, Bowery Bungalow also featured a lovely shaded outdoor patio with trees and vines. But the highlight of this modern Middle Eastern restaurant was definitely the food, which was creative and delicious at the same time. From the Vegetables section of the menu, we started with the Market Fatoush, made of various greens (baby kale, parsley, mint), along with sliced cucumbers, tomatoes, and croutons, all tossed in a sumac vinaigrette. The Smoked Hen-of-the-Wood Mushroom indeed had an intense smokey, meaty flavor and was served over creamy lebneh and dressed with pine nuts, chermoula, and sprouts. My favorite vegetable dish was the Roast Beets, a beautifully plated dish with chunks of red, yellow, and orange beets served over creamy chèvre cheese, topped with pistachios, and ringed with crunchy beet chips. And then it was off to the mains! The Turmeric Fried Rice was a unique Asian fusion dish made with chicken, egg, chickpeas, golden raisins, and almonds, and served with a spicy chili paste on the side. Another surprising Asian-influenced dish was the Honey-Glazed Savory Lamb Shank, a massive lamb shank served in an intensely spicy broth flavored with warm spices and topped with "pho finishings" including raw red onions, red chilies, cilantro, scallions, Thai basil, and other herbs. Instead of noodles, however, the hot broth came with chickpeas and barley, which added just the right earthiness to compliment the tender, meaty lamb. One of the most memorable and creative dishes was the Beef Tongue Shawarma Gnocchi, made with gnocchi pieces that were so soft and fluffy that they might as well have been pure potato puree. The gnocchi pieces had crispy exteriors and were topped with slices of beef tongue in an umami black pepper cream sauce that had just the right spicy kick. But my favorite dish of all was the Hummus bi Tahini topped with Beef Cheek Kawarma. The creamy chickpea dip was brought over the top and made even more delicious by the meaty, sticky, unctuous, tender beef cheek, and the crispy chickpeas and herbs rounded out the dish. Overall, the dishes here were stunningly crafted and incredibly delicious, and the service was exceptionally friendly and attentive too. What an outstanding Middle Eastern restaurant! read more

I've been here several times, but not enough. I should come once a week. Everything is very good. I've never had a bad dish here, and I've never left thinking that it wasn't good or that it wasn't a good value. On the most recent visit, we had the fattoush, the smoked mushrooms, and the branzino. All delicious. The smoked mushrooms were the star of the dinner. We also had a nice bottle of wine (something red and French and reasonably priced). The service was great - as it always is. Knows the menu. Friendly but not sticky. And the back patio is really quite nice. I don't think I've actually ever sat inside. Next time I will do that. read more
