I stumbled on this place by accident. The Chinese place near our home switched to some strange hours and was closed - so I did a Google search, and this place popped up. As I walked in, I noticed the place was full of Asians- (that had to be a good sign) and I thought this must be the place, and it was. I ordered the shrimp and mixed vegetables with won ton soup - both were delicious. The won ton soup is the best I've had in Knoxville. The meal is the best Chinese food I've had since living in Knoxville. I've been back several times, and my go-to order is the shrimp with broccoli, with brown sauce, spicy & won ton soup - it is delicious. Overall I highly recommend this place - the place is packed with other Asians, so I feel like this is authentic Chinese with great flavor. read more

This is my second time visiting and I am so glad that there is a Szechuan-style Chinese restaurant not too far from where I live. The food is always so good, hot, and great portions. This time I tried the Mapo Tofu and Ground Pork dish--it was awesome. The food here is really amazing but their wait time has started to creep up (an hour to an hour and a half while they quote you 30 min on phone/online) so it can be a frustrating experience. Asia Kitchen is a real Chinese restaurant, not an MSG palace or a high-falutin' "fusion restaurant". My wife and I went there at lunch time on a Monday and ordered the twice-cooked pork and the string beans with ground pork, from the lunch menu. The twice-cooked pork was made with real fatty pork belly (like it ought to be), with a mix of vegetables, not a lot of red pepper, and a hint of cilantro. I found both dishes a little too salty, but I'm very sparing of salt when I cook at home. The green beans were cooked just right, not overcooked, and I think they were Chinese yard-long beans. The pork was not ground, but finely diced into 5 mm cubes. Portions were generous but not stupefying. If I'd wanted more heat, there was a big bottle of Sriracha sauce on the table, and some hot black bean sauce. Good basic things to order in a Chinese restaurant you haven't been to before - next time I'll be a lot more adventurous, and try to organize a party. I do a lot of basic Chinese cooking at home - slice and stir-fry - at home, and I go to restaurants for dishes I don't cook at home. Back there a week later for kung pao chicken (beautifully cut chicken, not enough heat for this south Texas boy) and Chinese sausage with Chinese sausage (very savory sausage, an old favorite I cook often). There were plenty of customers, but it wasn't crowded. I'd say maybe a third of the customers were east Asian. All of the staff I spoke with spoke excellent non-native English. We were in and out in a leisurely hour, both times we were there. They don't have a beer license, but they told me you can bring your own. Four large circular tables, with central lazy susans, for 8 to 11 diners, so you could easily organize a party there; in addition to booths and small tables. read more

They have really friendly owners and servers, and good prices. Lots of authentic Asian food and fusion Americanized Asian food too. Because Knoxville doesn't have the biggest Asian Community, which is why it's a surprise to even find anything authentic in this region - and a really nice surprise as well. In searching for the best local Chinese food, I found Asia Kitchen. It is located in an unremarkable strip mall, like many such establishments Walking in one is not impressed by the decor, though it is clean and not crowded. It is obviously a primarily take-out restaurant, with only a few tables. I did see a steam table, but I'm unsure if it is used or not...perhaps at lunch. The menu is fairly typical of such restaurants, so I order my usual, Orange Chicken. Ordering was easy and the lady at the register was efficient and friendly. I took a seat to wait and several take-out orders were picked up. Mine was ready in good time, so I grabbed some soy sauce packets and took it home where I pulled out a surprisingly generous dish, and one of the tastiest meals I've had in Tennessee so far. I may not become a regular, but that's only because the drive is a bit inconvenient. I have already visited a second time. read more

I have been craving good Chinese food for a long time so my son took me here for Father's Day. After an hour drive to get here we waited 45 minutes for my son's dinner, mine didn't show. it took him about 15 minutes to eat his dinner but mine didn't show so I canceled the order and didn't eat my Father's Day dinner. When we brought this up with management they told me I should have ordered General Tso's chicken and they charged us for the food my son ate.
