I used to live in Knoxville for years but now I live in Chicago. We came back to visit family and my husband, who is Chinese, wanted to try this place because we saw it in Dave Chang's show and it seemed more authentic than other places around here. We got takeout and it was great! My husband said that some of the dishes were more authentic Chinese and you can't get them at most Americanized Asian restaurants. Best Chinese food in Knoxville, no question. If you're looking for a light, fresh soup, try the roast duck soup. Their mapo tofu is some of my favorite comfort food. The pork fried rice is amazing. Also, I love that they have a lot of vegetable dishes to choose from (meant to be shared) and that many of them are spicy. Service can be slow sometimes so bring your patience. Currently Asia Kitchen is only doing takeout. We were greeted by a very nice and welcoming front desk. We ordered beef with broccoli, fried rice and two small wonton soups. Beef with broccoli was excellent. It had plenty of tender beef and fresh broccoli and was a good size for 2 people. The pork fried rice was really good too. The pork in fried rice was very tender. Wonton soup was okay. I must add the food is not full of salt like most Chinese food. We really enjoyed the food and look forward to trying more. read more

WOW--this was great. HUGEEEE PORTIONS for the price. Got delivery by bite squad to a nearby hotel. Was so delicious. Ordered wayyy too much food as I went off reviews on what was best and didn't know how big stuff would be. Crab rangoons good but a little too sweet for me. The spicy garlic chicken AMAZING!! had cabbage and carrots was so good. The entree containers are twice the size of the normal Asian places. The house fried rice was amazing. I ate all the meat and about 1/4 of it bc it's just enough rice for like 6 people. So so good! Shrimp chicken and beef. The summer rolls which as normal small like spring rolls are the size of your hand. Two the size of your hand. Crazy! Highly recommend this place! read more

Totally a fan! Such a hidden gem in Knoxville! Honestly was hesitant to share for fear of the place getting too crowded, but it's just too good to not spread the word. I love Asian food and for a long time felt like Knoxville was lacking on this front. I checked out Asian Kitchen on a whim and was truly blown away. Don't be turned off by lack luster exterior, this restaurant is more than meets the eye. Portions are plentiful, pricing is reasonable, the food is authentic and delicious. Went with my family of 7 and everyone was pleased. We ordered the bok choy, spicy garlic chicken, veggie lo mein, spring rolls, crab rangoons, hot fish in a clay pot, and cauliflower fish. Everything was truly so flavorful & tasty. My favorite of what we ordered was probably the bok choy and the spicy garlic chicken. Bok choy can definitely be under treated and bland, but it was bursting with sauce and flavor. The spicy garlic chicken was also super saucy with a kick and plenty of crisp veggies. The addition of veggies in all the chicken and fish dishes was really appreciated, as so many more commercial Asian places will simply serve you chicken slathered in a sauce maybe with some rice. We are so disappointed and let down by Asia Kitchen. Last time they messed up our order and left out sesame chicken completely, i let it slide thinking they deserved another chance because we really liked their cooking previously. But this time I couldn't keep quiet, while they got the order right, it was an hour late and the sesame chicken was completely dry, hardly any sauce. It tasted like we got second day dish instead. Pieces were very dry, some chicken pieces were so hard you couldn't bite into them without cringing your face. But worst of all was when I cut up a piece instead of biting and saw it was 90% fat... dry fat, as you can see in the picture. I nearly gagged! I'm really not one to post a bad review instead opting to uphold and celebrate places that are delicious. The only reason I'm giving it two stars is because I liked their eggplant dish before and feel perhaps they have a different chef or are understaffed for after work rush. read more

I enjoy eating great Chinese food for takeout once in a while. The Asia Kitchen Restaurant has a really good takeout service. They are closed every Tuesday and they have the best prices before 3pm. The chicken or shrimp fried rice is really good, with fresh scramble eggs on top. read more

One thing I learned about coming here during the school year... Never come at busy times, because I think they lack the cooks in the back and waiters in the front to truly deliver on the experience. I hate that I'm coming back to take a star away, but it was just so disappointing to see that it took so long for them to come out with just our three dishes! I usually come with my parents, but we always went during an off time, you know, 5 PM before dinner rush or like 2 PM, after lunch rush. This time my party went right at lunch rush, and they just didn't deliver. Never got our water refilled, we just sat there with no food in front of us and at one point I had to ask where our food was. Right when I did, it came out. I love the food here and I think they lack some hands in the back, sous chefs most likely, so until they fix those lunch/dinner rushes I can't honestly give them perfect 5. Still completely worth coming and eating here though, just don't come during busy times when college is back in session. read more

Best Chinese Restaurant in Knoxville, TN without a doubt. Fun fact: this place was actually featured on the Netflix show "Ugly Delicious." If you want authentic Chinese food, this is the place to go. I've tried a lot of dishes here and my personal favorites are eggplant, mapo tofu, peking style pork, and twice cooked pork. Don't be scared to venture out and try out new foods here! I've never had a dish disappoint me. Service can be very slow but you can call in to reserve a table beforehand. Food can take around an hour to come out on a Saturday night, but the food is well worth it. Great place to bring a big group of people out and share dishes. Everything is family style portion so getting one dish by yourself wouldn't be ideal. All and all I love this restaurant and it's a wonderful gem in the Knoxville area. read more

Update May 2020- I'm not sure when they will reopen fully, but it can't be soon enough. We called in for some food and picked it up last week. The quality, portions, and everything was as good as when we've eaten there. We called about 15 minutes before we got there and the food was on the counter, prepped and ready to go, and very hot. Had a go to Asian/Chinese food restaurant near by, but they changed ownership and it's gone down hill ever since. I have been trying other places in my radius, (there are many) in an effort to find a really good Asian food "go to" replacement. I tried Asia Kitchen for the 1st time yesterday. I have found my new G2! OUTSTANDING food! Quick & friendly service. The reviews were correct. I got the Szechuan beef and Hot n sour soup. My spouse ordered the Chicken lo mein and gyoza (steamed dumpling). The Szechuan was the best I have every had. It had heat, but not flame throwing "I need a gallon of milk" hot. The sauce was extremely tasty and was fresh. (We have all had that Chinese old oil flavor sauce, that I wish to avoid). The portion was enough for dinner and lunch the next day. The hot n sour soup, also very good. One of the main things I was looking for in my new G2. Have to have great Hot n Sour soup! I was looking forward to trying one of my wife's dumplings, but she inhaled them before I had a chance. So yeah, she gives them 5 stars. 2 Thumbs up for Lo Mein as well. I think we may have come at a hectic time, so to be honest the service wasn't what I was expecting. Otherwise I loved the food! The portions are enormous! You could easily share one dish among multiple people. I thoroughly enjoyed their jasmine green bubble tea as well! They are great for large or small groups. We will be back for sure! read more

Portions are huge and you easily get to the three meals out of it. You're probably wondering why a place that is worth driving great distances that has an excellent product is only receiving a three star review. Well it has to do with service... Service time specifically. If you go, which I recommend you do, be prepared to wait. Like wait waaaaay longer than a normal long wait should take. Also expect less than friendly response from the servers, if you get a chance to talk to them, as to why it takes so long. Being from the west coast you find a lot of good Asian food. Unfortunately that is not the case in Knoxville. But Asia Kitchen has a touch to there cuisine that is unmatched the go to place when we enjoy the leftovers as much as the 1st taste. However, our family jokes about this being the drop dead rudest restaurant in all of Knoxville. That's why I only gave them three as opposed to five stars. Sometimes, it's just too much dealing with the rudeness. I've actually seen three arguments at three separate times that led to customers walking out. One of the arguments I witnessed was in Chinese. The authentic tastes, excellent food stuff quality, and almost excessively generous quantity of each of the 8 main entries were beyond our expectations ( we r all Asian). Knoxville's Best Authentic Chinese Restaurant! I've been eating at Asia Kitchen for five years.  I can attest, from experience, their food is outstanding!  These are some of my favorite dishes: Crabmeat with Fish Maw Soup and Hot and Sour Soup; both recipes stick to tradition, the former being milder and the latter have more of a kick to it. Shrimp Fried Rice, House Lo Mein, Singapore Rice Noodle with Chicken and Shrimp:  Easily recognized names, but Asia Kitchen's recipes deliver clean, authentic Chinese taste, made possible by the use of flavorful spices found in traditional Chinese cooking. Salt and Pepper Deep-Fried Shrimp, Home Style Beef, Stir Fried Pork Intestine with Sour Mustard Green, Fish Filet with Szechuan Pepper Sauce:  These are very traditional, and quite popular, dishes with Chinese people, and Asia Kitchen does it right. These are my "must have" dishes! Asia Kitchen also serves a variety of Pho, including my favorite, Pho Tai Nam Sach Gan Bo Viem.  This is the best Pho in Knoxville. Portion size is very generous, and you can increase the level of spiciness, based on preference; the friendly staff is bilingual and more than happy to recommend dishes, especially if you with to try something new. I encourage you to go as a group, and order multiple dishes, one from each main menu, and share them together.  This way, you can find your favorites and there will be enough food for everyone to take home, too! Asia Kitchen...the name is not what drove us in nor was a spectacular location or beautiful store front, no it was the all mighty "word of mouth" As soon as we walked in I knew we we're in for some great food! The smell was magnificent. The decor matched the smell and the staff was friendly, courteous and ready to bring in the food. The menu was huge but simple to get around. Sectioned by the proteins offered in the dish. We made our selections and placed our order. I waited was having a good ole time with us cracking jokes and laughing making us feel very welcome. Our food arrived family style. Empty plates per person and entrees center table for each to portion. The quality was excellent, the flavors were incredible, the heat level was adjustable and in point. We impressed our waiter with our chop stick skills and he appreciated that we knew how to use them and joked that when he eats American food he's not offered chop sticks! All in all this has been probably my best Asian food experience to date. I would highly recommend it to anyone and I can't wait for many return visits. read more

I've been here twice, for lunch both times. I had pho the first time and Kung Poa Chicken(with peanuts) the second time. Both were delicious! There aren't too many really good Chinese restaurants(that I have found) in Knoxville, but this one is tops! And a 95% on their health I spection to boot! Yes, please!!!!
