I believe they're known for their BBQ so we ordered the roasted duck - which was nice and juicy, you can order it whole or half. They have several variations of roasted pork and our server suggested we try the roasted pork belly (which is the more expensive one) and he promised that it was not fatty but more tender and juicy - and he was right. It was melt-in-your-mouth tender, we were amazed. He also recommended and chose for us a live lobster, which he presented to us before cooking. Crispy Noodles, snow peas leaves and salted fish fried rice were all craveable. Most expensive part of our meal was the lobster (about $100!) and the roasted pork belly (nearly $50) - both are sold by weight. I have to say service was a surprise. I dined at Auntie Kitchen last Thursday evening and I'm already looking forward to coming back. This location opened less than 3 weeks ago and the prices are great, large portions too. I ordered Sautéed Egg Tofu with Mixed Mushrooms (#21) and they definitely didn't skimp on the mushrooms. In fact, there were many varieties of mushrooms. The sauce used wasn't overly drenched nor too sweet. This would've paired well with plain rice. I also had a few bites of duck & chicken over noodles, the meats were tasty and tender. I loved the veggie chow fun as it wasn't overly greasy. The portion was enormous and I ended up eating this dish for days. Most people know not to critique service at Chinese restaurants as many are just barely mediocre. Auntie Kitchen surprisingly had excellent service. When dining in, complimentary oranges are included. These oranges were some of the best I've had in awhile. This was the second time here with my family. It's a small place but it works. The entrance area has small tables and if you go to the other side, they're large tables. They have lunch special but only until a certain time before they switch to the dinner menu. The first time we were there, there was a server who was rude and rushed us to take our order even though we were still asking questions. The server claimed that every dish was made in chicken broth and that he can't change anything. We asked for another server and he helped us. We explained that I'm vegan and certain ingredients will get me very sick. This nice server said that he can make the dishes anyway I want but needs to speak with the kitchen. He later came out with a large piece of paper and wrote down what I couldn't eat and took out my order. Our second time, the same server helped us. He said now he's a manager. Very nice guy. The food and ambiance reminds me of home. There is complementary soup broth which is so comforting . It starts the meal out right. We had spicy pig ears and jelly fish as starters at affordable prices. The fresh pea sprouts was a highlight of the meal...tasted like it was just picked from the garden! I ordered a few things to go, since review was good, when I got the good, I was a little disappointed. First, the bbq pork I asked for was the shoulder area, it's more tender and juicier with good fat to lean meat ratio. When I ask for the shoulder location, they said it was $18.50/lb versus $12.99/lb. It was actually started on the menu in the restaurant. Anyways, I paid the premium, when I taste the bbq pork, the skin was tough and chewy instead of crispy. However, the flavor of the pork was great because it wasn't tasty like many other places; also, it was very juicy and not dry. Move on to the chicken. Most Hainan chicken I had in the past comes with some sort of peanuts and/or pickled daikon and carrots on the side. This one did not. As for flavor, it was on the blend side, not much flavoring and didn't come with any sauce to make it taste better. Luckily, I only asked for about half pound, but as usual, they always give you more than what you ask for in a Chinese BBQ place. Cha siu has very good flavor with great balance of saltiness and sweetness, but it was on the dry side because the cut was too lean. Updated review as of May 2023: The lack of consistency in food makes me lean towards a lower rating but what redeems this place is the affordable and reasonable price point. To be honest, there are better Cantonese style restaurants you can go to. A lot of the items are either a hit or miss, but overall the quality does match the lower price point you pay and the portions aren't bad in size. What they do best in is the BBQ items. I think that's worth coming back. They do a good job with the roast duck and the roast pork has a nice crispy skin. The pork could use a bit more salt. Other notable items: + XO scallops: Good price point and flavorful. They gave plenty of scallops. + French style filet mignon: The beef is pretty tender. They don't put a ton of black pepper, which is ok with me. Good portion. + House special stir fry: An interesting mix of seasonal veggies with dried fish and Chinese sausage. Came here because of a YouTube video I watched and thought that it doesn't hurt to have a go to place in this part of the SGV. First off, make sure you don't park at the Medical building next door as there are signs that they will tow. Luckily, it was a Saturday and the medical building was already closed. The restaurant is small and tight. When I walked in, there were only 6 tables available. Luckily, one was available. The place is super tight and you can see bbq items right there. They have traditional Hong Kong style food. There is another menu with lunch specials on it. And there's another menu for dim sum items. I think we waited a good 5 minutes or so before the food started trickling in. The wonton noodle soup was not bad. I do think that the wonton and the soup was a little on the bland side. I also noticed that there was no salt/pepper or soy sauce on the table. The wonton could have used a little more seasoning and sesame oil. It wasn't bad though. My mom had the tripe noodle soup. I didn't try the soup, but it looks to be the same as the wonton. The tripe, however, was bland and chewy. It is not like the ones you get from dim sum. I also tried the braised pork ribs from the dim sum menu and that was also bland and a little tough. So I made the conclusion that I wouldn't come here for their dim sum as it's not as flavorful. The seafood chow fun was pretty good though. It had wok hay and the sauce was flavorful. The roast pork belly was crispy and seasoned well. Their seafood porridge was also good, but did need a little bit of soy sauce to liven it up a bit. When we were almost done, we noticed that there was another dining room just past the deli area.
