This food truck experience was absolutely phenomenal. Absolutely. Phenomenal. We rolled up a little before close so they were out of a few items, but honestly, what we did get was so out of this world fantastic that we didn't even care. We had the chicken shawarma and gyro over rice, and it also came with a bit of salad and then drenched in garlic sauce and hot sauce. The gyro was so flavorful and tender, but the chicken shawarma really really blew me away. I adore chicken shawarma and get it probably once every other week, and this is some of the best I've ever had. It was so flavorful and not at all dry, and in combination with the bold garlic sauce and super tasty rice, it was a home run. The hot sauce was also so delicious. It had so much flavor to it and really added to the dish rather than being spicy just for spicy's sake. We were starving and both inhaled our fully-packed takeout boxes. We were way too full afterwards but it was 100% worth it and I would absolutely do it again. And as an added bonus, the exceedingly kind man gave us a free cheesecake "for the road." Love me a good road cheesecake.

AustinMed Break has kind of weird hours, but a great stop at the end of the night. The sriracha fries were so good and I highly recommend. The falafel wrap was delicious too, but it tasted like there was some kind of dairy based sauce when it was labeled vegan. A few of the items labeled vegan said they had cheese, in the case that that is a dietary restriction you may want to confirm that it's vegan, not vegetarian, before ordering. The one man show was efficient, nonetheless, and he was very friendly too.

They aren't open til afternoon but the man who runs this food truck was so nice and he prepares his food with so much care. There's a plethora of vegetarian and vegan options! We did the vegan falafel wrap and also the sriracha fries. So food! Took about 15 min and prices were great! Love the location too since it's just up from SoCo!

Easily one of the best meals I've had in Austin! It's a food truck on the corner of a busy intersection area in the outskirts of downtown Austin but worth the travel! There's a good coffee spot right across the street. There are also tables to sit with shade and the owner of the truck is super friendly! The food does take some time but it's because he makes it fresh. Back in NYC, we have some amazing halal food trucks but this one is a true gem in Austin. I really hope he's still here the next time I visit!

Easily one of my favorite Mediterranean food trucks in Austin! Whether it is a mid day lunch or late night outing, this place is open and consistently delicious! It's located behind superstition in the corner of a parking lot off south Congress. The owner is so sweet and makes everything, but the cheesecake (what he told me) from scratch. The portions are huge and you can definitely taste the love he puts into it! I've been slowly trying different items on the menu and have not been disappointed. I've brought many friends and family here to try and everyone has loved it! My favorite is the combo shawarma over rice! You get a To-go box filled with lamb and chicken shawarma over rice topped with tahini and hot sauce, and a salad! The gyro wraps are massive and generously filled with with a great meat to veggie ratio. Definitely will be back.

Best food truck!! We came across this food truck while walking back from S Congress. We went up and checked out the menu and asked the guy a couple questions about allergies. He was so nice and so accommodating that we decided to give it a try. The food was all made fresh and SO delicious! We got the Kofta tajine, roasted cauliflower, and zaalouk. Everything was served to us at the cute picnic tables outside. It was all delicious. He also made us a freshing Moroccan tea and gave us free cookies to welcome us to Austin. We would go back for the service alone! But the food is exceptional as well.

Friendly Moroccan owner capable of making delicious shawarma wraps. Interestingly, he also presses them, like one would with a panini or a Cuban sandwich. The flavors are all authentic, tasty, and well-seasoned. My only gripe is the chicken itself may not be of the higher caliber, but that's somewhat to be expected from the majority of restaurants. I probably would try out another dish from this place. There's also a lot of vegan options that seem worth trying, and judging from the flavors I've tried, I'm sure they won't disappoint. I tried also the Moroccan cookie (Gheriba with almonds & nuts), which was a delicious sweet treat - a little nut cookie sweetened with tastes of rose water and honey. Loved it! read more

If I could give zero stars to this establishment, I would. I ordered lunch for pick up, came here to have the guy tell me that he doesn't make the food, he only opens the store. (Or at least I think that's what he was saying) I showed him my receipt from Yelp and asked if he could get my lunch ready and he told me no. He refused because I didn't have a printed out receipt. WTH? I am deaf and the guy refused to accommodate to my disability or write down what he was saying to me. Oppressive business that steals their customers' money. Terrible service, plenty of awesome authentic Mediterranean elsewhere. I'm out of $15 on a hungry stomach. Not. Happy. (Picture is proof that I ordered from them and paid for my food) Edit:::: they cancelled my order when I tried to call their business on the videophone after that whole fiasco. They said "I'm sorry we can't help you, your order will be cancelled and you'll be refunded." I guess they hate deaf people and again, their customer service is TERRIBLE!!!! STAY AWAY IF YOU WANT DECENT CUSTOMER SERVICE. read more

This place is awesome. The owner (and cook) is so insanely nice it restores your faith in humanity. I never write reviews, but his food is so damn good and he's so damn nice I couldn't help myself. He works so hard and I heard from a friend that he supports many people/family members with his business. I usually tip the same amount that my order is because this is a human being who deserves it. read more

Great vibe and great food!! The owner was the cook, he was super nice and helping us pick out if we would like from the menu. The food came out fast and it was very fresh. Overall, I enjoyed my meal and speaking with the owner about his story, he is very hard working and he enjoy what he does so he doesn't complain about it and the food definitely shows his works. This was such an awesome find. The own was super friendly and genuine. I ordered the combo shawarma over rice along with the chicken shawarma wrap for lunch the next day. The food was so flavorful and delicious, wish I could have visited again before I left Austin. Don't be fooled by it being a simple food truck on a busy street corner, this place truly a hidden gem. I live nearby and stopped to look at the menu while walking the other day. Decided to have it for dinner tonight, and I am so glad I did. The food is incredible! Hands down the best lamb gyro I've had. The hummus and Greek salad are also both amazing. Huge portions, too. I was honestly surprised with how much lamb I got in my gyro. Usually it's mainly toppings. He didn't short on the meat. Just like everyone else said, the owner was so nice! He gave us cookies to try. They are amazing! Will absolutely go back. I never usually leave reviews on restaurants, but I feel I have to for AustinMed! The owner is a welcoming man who was very kind and engaged in great conversation with me while preparing my food! Amazing place! We ordered the chicken over rice, the falafel over rice, and the zaalouk -- all so tasty. Portion sizes are huge, but it was so good we couldn't stop eating until we finished it all. We were the only ones there during lunch, so the owner came out and handed us chocolates after our meal. I will be back again and again for sure and recommend to everyone I know read more

This was one of the best halal food trucks I've ever visited. The owner/cook is one of the nicest guys ever and it's such a great experience to eat here. At the end of the meal he overheard that my mom was visiting from out of town and had never tried Mediterranean food and he took the time out to come and talk to us and ask about our experience. We tried both the chicken over rice and falafel over rice and both were delicious! Would also highly recommend the Zaalouk. read more

I was concerned that this place had 5 stars because every review mentioned the owner, so maybe the food was just good. Well I got it delivered and holy cow! I was wrong! The kibbeh ball was so juicy and flavorful! I should have ordered more falafel balls. The gyro wrap was so tasty and the meat was so thin! And the hummus was absolute bliss! read more

Stopped by here cause we needed good food fast, so glad we found it! This little gem has probably the best falafels i ever tried. We got the chicken and felafel shawarmas. The chicken shawarma was a 10/10: juicy, flavorful, well-cooked. The felafel shawarma, the same! The man in the truck was so kind and helpful. amazing service. Garlic and hot sauce was great too. UPDATE: my previous review did not do this place justice. I have never met a friendlier business owner in my life. Absolutely the most passionate and genuine person. The flavor is unparalleled-- I know there are other Mediterranean food trucks in Austin, but none come close to the quality of AustinMed. Seriously do yourself a favor and check this place out!! What stands out besides the delicious food is the owner-- last time I was there he brought us some traditional Moroccan tea and cookies, which really just sums up his genuine character and shows you the authenticity of the restaurant. Fabulous Mediterranean food truck. Not enough people know about this place. Such a friendly owner too. The food is amazing-- there is so much flavor in every dish. I will definitely be back!! Open until 3am on the weekends too. This will be one of my new go-to places. read more

I've now been twice, and will definitely be back a third time. The portions are large, prices are cheap - you will likely have leftovers. Everything tastes fresh, and is excellently seasoned - the gyro meat is especially delicious. Service is always extra friendly, as well. I hope this place hangs around because it's going to become a lunch and dinner staple for me. read more

This place is amazing, do not be fooled by the casual location! We ordered the combo shwarma, kofta kebab, and red pepper hummus. We ate here and the owner is so kind and generous. He even brought us some Moroccan cookies to try (which were incredibly moist and good!!!). The portions were huge, tons of meat packed into our wraps. I wish I had taken a picture of all the food but we were half way through before I realized. read more

What a gem! We ordered the AustinMed beef shawarma, and it was delicious and hearty. The seasoned beef was plentiful, garlic sauce addicting, cheese gooey, and the bread to die for. It was served with fries, which were the perfect vessel for more garlic sauce. We also ordered zaalouk-- a cooked eggplant and tomato salad, served with warm pita bread. It was chunky, smoky, and full of flavor. Both items together cost $15. Not bad at all, from my Seattle perspective. Lastly, the owner is such a nice man - friendly and warm. He was so sweet to our daughter too. Why isn't there a huge line up for this place? Don't miss out, people. read more

I've written two reviews for this place already, and I assume you I am not associated with it more than just as an extremely satisfied customer. Best service in Austin. Being a food truck, that says a lot, because not much to do. However, EVERY TIME I see the owner at his truck, he is literally excited to see me, even when I don't eat there which is always regrettable. The food is phenomenal, of course, literally the best gyro I've ever had in my entire life, but aside from That, the owner, I always forget his name....he's absolutely incredible. Big smile. The owner is rude and they are terrible with pick up orders. They will not begin making your meal until they confirm your order on yelp or grubhub, even if you show them the receipt and order status. What gives? I'll be taking my business somewhere else. Most places would begin prepping your meal right away as soon as you show up, even if you're early or they'll at least give you an estimated time of when your lunch will be done. This place does not. They will turn away you if they haven't confirmed your order or if you don't have a printed out receipt. Absolutely ridiculous and a complete waste of my time and energy. I missed my 30-min lunch break because of this dude in the truck wouldn't begin making my meal, and I had to leave before my lunch break ended and get them to cancel my order. Never coming back. Seriously, you can find much better customer service at the nearby whataburger or thundercloud subs. read more

I tried many Mediterranean food trucks, but this is definitely one of the best if not the best. Whenever I want to endulge myself with my favorite humus or shawarma, I just go to Austimed break. The guy is nice and social. And that a plus for me because I get to know the owner and get familiar with him. I also like his Mediterranean cookies and treats. And sometimes I get that Moroccan tea as the drink. It makes the dish even more enjoyable. read more
