    Bacon-wrapped water chestnuts
    Warren D.

Date of visit: June 6, 2026 We stopped here as part of Arizona Food Tours, though I had actually been here once before, several years prior to their most recent remodel. This is the sister restaurant to a Milwaukee favorite, Elsa's on the Park (though locals just call it Elsa's), and it's easy to see why, from the eclectic, fun menu to the diverse crowd and strong emphasis on art. As part of the food tour we sampled their homemade chips with hot sauce and bleu cheese along with Neuske's bacon-wrapped water chestnuts (IYKYK) accompanied with honey for dipping. I'm not crazy about bleu cheese or hot sauce, but the chips were actually quite good. And the water chestnuts were excellent, the bacon not too crispy and the honey was a nice additional touch! I also had an NA Moscow Mule and I loved it, even though it had a little cucumber in it. Staff were very attentive as well, ensuring our water glasses were never too empty, which was appreciated on a warm June day!

This place is located in the perfect spot in Old Town Scottsdale. It was our first time in Arizona and was recommended this place by our tour guide. I was pleasantly surprised how swanky this restaurant vibe is and is also very lovely inside with outdoor seating. The prices, food, and service were excellent! The food was delicious. I ordered the full sandwich and had no idea how big it was going to be! I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone.

AZ88 is a Scottsdale classic for a reason--famous for martinis that are easily among the best in town (watch out Durant's). They're served filled right to the brim by impressively steady waitstaff who somehow don't spill a drop--you'll need to take a sip before even picking up the glass. The glassware itself is part of the experience: a signature shape that fans out slightly, adding to the presentation and making each drink feel a bit more special. It's these little details that elevate the whole visit. A long time Scottsdale staple, AZ88 has that rare mix of longevity and style. This is the kind of place you bring people when you want to impress--confident, polished, and consistently delivering.

Came here to celebrate a friend's birthday and we were seated on the patio. They have a misting system that is amazing and allows you to enjoy your time and dinner. It was very crowded and parking is bad, but they do offer valet, if you choose. Our server, Shayla was awesome. She was professional, friendly and stayed on top of us for refills and drinks. I ordered the Civic Center Chop salad. It was really good and the honey lemon dressing that goes with it was so flavorful. I would definitely come back to try their other foods.

I love the atmosphere of AZ88. We sat outside on a Saturday evening and it was beautiful. We only waited about 30 minutes to get seated as a party of 2 without a reservation beforehand. Our waiter was nice enough and the food came in a timely manner. I ordered the grilled cheese with pumpernickel bread and thought it was good. I liked that it came with a pickle. My friend and I agreed that although the food and drinks weren't anything too special, the ambiance and energy of the restaurant itself was made it worth it.

Sooo much to say! It's soooo delicious! So much food! So great to share! Everyone is so kind! Thank you Christian for taking my order! They have Evian sparkling water the fries are yummy! And I love that they put a pickle and pineapple on the side! Oh! Also the strawberry cake is to die for! It's super pretty and clean! and they change up the theme of the decor hehe

We arrived at 4:30 on a Thursday with a group of 6 for an early birthday dinner. The restaurant was decorated nicely with a large holiday tree in the middle and special snow lighting. Unfortunately AZ 88 does not take reservations which is a disappointment. The inside tables were already full with only a couple of spots left at the hi-tops so we sat outside at a table for six. It was chilly but they do have above head heaters. They could actually use more heaters for the patio as we were all still a little cold and we wore coats. The patio filled up quickly so I'm glad we arrived at 4:30 or could have been waiting for a while. Our server was Bryson. I can't say enough good things about Bryson. He was simply excellent. Probably one of the best servers I've ever come across in a very long time. He was friendly, efficient and never left us waiting for service. Always offering suggestions and kept things flowing. Bryson had several large groups he handled all in his own. A true professional. We started with cocktails and moved into food. I ordered a dirty martini and it was actually filled to the rim with an icy surface. Thank you AZ 88! A bar that understands how a martini should be served. My companions all ordered martinis and they were all made perfectly. For appetizers we ordered the flatbread and the Rumaki (bacon wrapped chestnuts). Honestly the flatbread could have used more time in the oven and didn't have much flavor considering how many ingredients but the rumaki was super tasty. The bacon was crispy with honey for dipping. For dinner I ordered the Bigger Mac Burger per Bryson's suggestion. I asked for medium and it was cooked perfect medium. It came with waffle fries. Everyone said they enjoyed their burgers and chicken sandwiches. We also asked for small side dips, etc. and Bryson brought everything correctly. Usually a server always forgets the side dips but Bryson remembered everything. He also brought a dessert for the birthday girl and offered to take photos which we very much appreciated. I really enjoyed AZ88 except for the fact you can't make reservations and not enough heat in the patio. Other than that, we had a nice experience. Ask to sit in Bryson's section and you won't be disappointed with service.

AZ88 has such a fun set up! It's a great place for a date, drinks at the bar with friends or even a business dinner. The espresso martini (no cream) is incredible! They use actual espresso so you will be feeling the caffeine! The bartenders were very friendly and quick with service. We ordered the bacon wrapped water chestnuts, which were so amazing!

Came here with some friends on a Saturday night and it was pretty busy and crowded. It took us maybe 30-40 minutes to get seated for dinner, so we just got drinks while waiting. My friends got an F'n Cucumber and a Dirty Martini, which they both enjoyed (the F'n Cucumber was gooodd). I got a Tequila Tease (mocktail) for $10 and it was really tasty. While the drinks were really good, the food felt like an afterthought. We ordered Hell's Fire Chips as our appetizer (it was alright with the spicy sauce they gave us, I'm personally not a big fan of the bleu cheese but my friends are), Caesar Salad, and a sandwich. Everything was just alright, and our server was also lukewarm. I will say the vibe was very interesting and unique though, mixing "night out at the bar" and "elevated dinner vibes"

Came here for dinner and drinks with friends and we had such a nice time! Our server was great and the food and drinks were awesome. The martinis here are FULL and strong so beware. We shared the Caesar salad and club sandwich which were both great sizes. Super cute spot and would definitely recommend it for any occasion!

AZ88 is a nice looking bar/restaurant in the Scottsdale Civic Center area. The place is aesthetically pleasing with a nice looking in-door and outdoor area. The doors to the bathrooms are the walls themselves which I found interesting; not to mention its sleek design. I decided to try The Bigger Mac; it's not a double patty like McDonald's but it's definitely a big burger. I got it with fruit and most of the fruit was fresh; some a little too sour. The service was a bit slow though. Overall, it cost me $22.98 (includes tax and tip).

    Shrimp Ceviche
    Pat M.

Food was pretty decent for the most part, although the ceviche didn't have very much shrimp and was mainly just pico de gallo. Food is decently priced for being in Scottsdale, but I wouldn't say it's anything that special.

AZ88 is such a vibe like every time I go, it somehow feels new and even cooler than the last. They're always switching up the atmosphere, and it keeps things fun, fresh, and a little unexpected. Let's talk about the drinks... the Porn Star is hands down the BEST. It's a must-order every single time. The food is also good can't go wrong with any of the burgers everything I've tried has been flavorful and perfect for sharing while catching up. This spot is ideal for a girls' night cute, lively, and just the right energy to hang, laugh, and stay a little longer than planned. And I have to say... the staff is amazing. Super friendly, attentive, and they really make the experience. Also... haha definitely check out the bathroom you'll see what I mean. Won't regret! Overall, such a fun, iconic spot

Does Az 88 have a happy hour?

Hi! Yes, they have Happy Hour on their food. Half off any burger or chicken sandwich with fries or fruit Monday - Friday 11am - 3:30pm. I do not believe there is a discount on drinks.

    Is the patio dog friendly?

    Yes!

    Dot they take reservations?

Reservations are available up to 60 days in advance per the AZ88 experience which cost $120 + gratuity and tax. Which you get a special table in their dining room, an incredible cocktail experience, and a four-course meal!

Are there misters for outdoor seating?

    I believe yes 👍

Is this full food menu till closing?

    Yes

    Whats the dress code?

I was in shorts and a tee shirt and my kid was in his baseball uniform. Most people in there were dressed a little nicer but never got a vibe we were outta place

    Do you take reservations?

No they do not. Best to go on off hours; not prime times or they'll be a long wait. See my review

Do you guys have a happy hour? If so what time and special?

They do not have happy hour, but I still highly recommend AZ88!

When is the best time to come in for the disco balls to be lit up?

    Anytime after sunset

Hi does this place take reservations for a private party? I've passed by this place many times and at times it seems like it's closed down due to a private event.

Marlen, Thanks for the interest but we are not doing any private events currently.…

    Are you 21+?

Hi! Thanks for reaching out. We welcome all ages. If alcohol is requested, we check identification at that time. See you soon.

The grilled vegetables are so good. Does anyone know how the are made?

    Yes, they're grilled.

Do they have a happy hour?

They do not have a happy hour. But I still love the place !

Honestly, I have no idea how it got those reviews. Maybe they're paid, I'm not sure, but based on my experience I would not go back. The biggest issue was the service. We arrived and were told to sit anywhere we wanted. After sitting down, we waited about 20 minutes and no one ever came to our table. No greeting, no water, nothing. Eventually I had to walk up to the bar and ask what the procedure was. Do we order at the bar? Do you have table service? No one could give a clear answer. They just kept saying, "If you want, you can order here." That's not the point. If I sit down at a restaurant, I expect someone to come to the table and explain how things work or take our order. If the system is that you order at the bar, just say that clearly so people know what to do. The drinks were also very mediocre. Nothing special at all. Honestly, they tasted like something you could throw together at home with soda, alcohol, and ice. The surprising part is that the food was actually phenomenal. The kitchen clearly knows what it's doing. The dishes were delicious and probably the best part of the entire experience. But great food alone isn't enough to make me return somewhere with poor service and forgettable drinks. My recommendation is don't waste your time on a Sunday brunch. There are plenty of other brunch spots with good food and good service.

I liked the look and vibes of the place and decided we needed to circle back through here before the night was over. After dinner we explored the Scottsdale nightlife and decide to end our night here. The vibe was completely different later in the night. This time we had to go through bouncers. The lounge itself is absolutely stunning. They have an indoor space that is beautifully decorated with lots of different seating options. They have an open air concept with one side open to the rooftop pool deck. The bartenders and staff were scantily clad which definitely had gentleman hanging at the bar too long. That meant long waits to get a drink. For a place that looks so upscale, I was disappointed in the drinks. Online they talk about a next level mixology experience and that was not our experience. We got cocktails served in plastic cups that cost just as much or even more than some high end cocktail bars I have been to. It's kind of what is expected in Scottsdale though. I also was quite surprised to see that cocktails were $20! I know it's the W but that is pretty pricey. Also note that this is considered the pool area so the drinks are served in plastic cups.
