Grilled Prawns (w red charmoula, harissa, polenta, garlic) - brunch menu
    Ivonnie S.

Came back again for a weekend lunch, but I didn't realize until we sat down that Aziza has a weekend brunch/lunch menu that's quite different and more limited than the dinner menu. Lunch was overall solid/tasty, but I don't know if I'd return specifically for the brunch/lunch menu. We tried everything that we wanted to on the menu and didn't feel like we needed to get anything in particular again. I had really been looking forward to getting the cornbread again, but alas it's a dinner-only item - I'll have to come back again for dinner next time! --- FOOD // in the order we got the dishes: + Burrata (w tomato jam, dukkah, olive oil, toast): yummy, I wish there was more on the plate and more than just one slice of bread! + Eggs Benedict (w smoked salmon, herb jam, moroccanaise, potatoes, lettuce): *favorite dish of the brunch* - the eggs benedict was delicious! Very crispy, well-seasoned potatoes on the side. + Shakshuka (w chickpeas, pickled beans, lebni, jidori egg yolk, grilled bread): I enjoyed this more than the dinner shakshuka version, as it tasted more balanced. + Grilled Prawns (w red charmoula, harissa, polenta, garlic) + Beghrir pancakes (w honey butter, citrus honey, bee pollen): first time trying this kind of spongy pancake. It was quite sweet - definitely split it with others! + Custard French toast (w huckleberries, coriander mascarpone, pistachio cream): more on the tart side compared to the pancakes, due to the huckleberries. Good but I would've loved more mascarpone & pistachio cream to balance out the tartness.

The basteeya is really heavy, sweet, salty, oily, dense at the same time. I didn't feel great after eating a couple bites. All the food was really heavy and expensive if you want to try multiple things Would be cute if you were on a work dinner or someone else was paying otherwise the prices felt steep for the quality of service, they took a while to box our food would have preferred to box it ourselves so we can leave sooner

We had a very nice dinner here to celebrate our anniversary. We opted for a soup and four small plates to share. It was perfect and we had some leftovers. - chilled corn soup 5 stars. Love the presentation and the taste. I wasn't sure I would like it from the description but it was Excellent - burrata with kiwi salad. 5 stars. Love the presentation and flavor combo. Perfect with the served rustic bread slide - charred prawns 3 stars for prawns and 5 stars for the sauce. The prawns is a bit overcooked but the sauce really made up for it. We soaked it all up with our left over bread slice - mussels. Good flavor 4 stars. Although quite small and pricey. It was like $24 for 6 mussels. Sauce though was really good. Feels like a charred oyster recipe applied to mussels just too pricey - beef tartare. It was served on top of cooked cabbage it seems. This was just okay We finished with a yuzu custard. Divine. Perfect palate cleanser. Our server also was good to recommend we stay with the small plate if we are not too hungry. So glad we did as we still didn't finish.

We recently visited this restaurant and appreciated the creativity the chef brought to the dishes. The food was unique and clearly inspired by Moroccan cuisine, though it felt more like a modern fusion interpretation rather than a truly authentic Moroccan experience. The service, unfortunately, was quite slow -- we waited about an hour and fifteen minutes for our food, which made the evening feel longer than expected. I also hoped for more authenticity in the ambiance. Even small touches, like traditional Arabic or Moroccan music, could have helped create a warmer cultural atmosphere. Overall, there is definitely creativity and potential here, especially if you enjoy chefs adding their own twist to classic dishes. Hoping the restaurant continues refining both the dining experience and the service.

    $18 cornbread

While the dishes here are unique, the service left a lot to be desired. After receiving our appetizers, we had a long hour wait before finally receiving our entree. As a result, the entire meal lasted more than 2 hours which is quite long for a non-set menu/a la carte dining location. We never received any warning about the wait and only learned the kitchen was backed up because we overheard the table next to us receive an update from their server. It's one thing to not provide a warning before people order, it's another to never provide an update at all while people wait at their table for an hour after their appetizers. It's also especially inconsiderate for people who would appreciate the advance notice to accommodate any plans they may have after dinner. The food itself was decent, with some dishes being better than others. The cornbread gets a lot of hype but doesn't seem to warrant the $18 price tag. After paying $29 for 3 dips, you also have to pay an extra $4 for bread which seems rather petty and penny pinching. If I don't order the $4 bread am I supposed to eat these dips on their own? Overall, a lackluster experience due to the excessive wait with no updates and middling service.

Food - rich, tasty, heavy. Service - fine. Ambiance - we were seated in the back room, which didn't quite have the same vibe as the main room. It is more intimate, but it felt like being tucked away in a forgotten corner. Might be fine for a date, but if you're looking forward to dining in the main room, best to let them know your preference when making a reservation. The highlight of the meal was probably the trio of spreads, although the chicken basteeya was good, too.

    Sunday brunch

The tldr - Food: mostly tasty. Ambiance: fine, nice decor. Service: poor. My husband and I arrived for our 10:30am reservation for Sunday brunch and were immediately seated as the first patrons in the restaurant. A server immediately introduced themselves, explained the menu, then disappeared. A new server came over some time later and re-explained the menu in the same fashion, by which point we had already decided on our order. We ordered drinks (the Ode to St Anne and the Spa Water), then our food: to share, the burrata, little gems, and French toast. For our entrees, my husband ordered the eggs Benedict and I ordered the shakshuka. I had a brief conversation with our server regarding the shakshuka, ensuring it was vegetarian (I've been burned many times). He told us we had ordered all the best items and proceeded to enter our order at the registers in the corner. The little gems and burrata appetizers arrived fairly quickly, and were tasty. We loved the grilled bread served with the burrata. Not long after those, our cocktails arrived--also tasty. The Spa Water was refreshing and not too strong. After finishing our appetizers, we had a relatively lengthy wait before any additional food arrived. In the meantime, the restaurant was getting busy. The eggs Benedict arrived for my husband, but was placed in the middle of the table, which worried me briefly (regarding timing of the entrees). He dug in--the potatoes served with the eggs were delicious: crispy and heavily seasoned. A while later, our French toast arrived. The toast was a little crispy on the edges and the flavors worked really well together. However, I only had a couple of bites as I wanted to eat my savory entree first. As my husband continued to eat, I waited for my shakshuka dish to arrive. I noticed numerous plates of food exiting the kitchen and being delivered to tables that had been seated well after we had been. Eventually, my husband had finished his entree, and I still hadn't received my food. I caught the eye of our server, who walked over to ask how everything was tasting. We said it was all good, but wanted to check in on my shakshuka dish as it had been a while. He responded that perhaps it was due to the chef's preferred sequencing, but that it'd be coming out soon. I told him that I understood, but that the shakshuka was my entree and my husband had already finished his, and we had not intended to share due to dietary restrictions. The server acknowledged this and walked away, presumably to check on the dish. Another 15 minutes or so went by and I still didn't have my food. We had been there for about an hour and had plans later. The server must have noticed my irritation because he walked over--but then he asked me, "Did you order the shakshuka? Because I thought you ordered the burrata." ...what? I reminded him that we had ordered the burrata to share, but we had ordered separate entrees and mine had been the shakshuka, regarding which we had even had a conversation confirming it's vegetarian. He nodded and walked away... Only to reemerge with his notebook, showing me what he had written: burrata, little gems, eggs Benedict, French toast. No sign of the shakshuka. It felt like he was trying to argue with me. I told him to forget it, I didn't want it anymore as we had somewhere to be. He asked if I was sure and I confirmed to please cancel it (if the order had even been placed at all, I thought). Just then, another employee came up behind him with the plate, and our server said, "well, it's ready now. Is it bad timing?" They plopped the plate in front of me and walked away when I was unsure of how to answer. I ate most of it, and my irritation aside, the dish wasn't anything special. It was a soupy concoction of chickpeas and onions with two raw egg yolks on top, served with a single piece of cold bread (not the delicious grilled bread from the burrata dish). I went to the restroom and returned to find the dishes cleared and my husband with the bill, which of course listed the mysterious shakshuka. I would've thought that after all that, we would've received a discount of some sort (or maybe not have been charged for the shakshuka), but I was mistaken. We left a 15% tip (low for us) and left. There are plenty of excellent dining options in SF--we won't be back.

smoked salmon & preserved lemon spread

We had a 5 PM dinner reservation and arrived right on time and we're seated once the doors opened. We asked our server if they had any recommendations and everything they suggested was fantastic. We started with the spread trio and bread plus the cauliflower and the salmon. To say those were only starters would be a lie. We were so full by the time our Bronzino arrived. We both ordered a glass of wine, one red and one white and enjoyed our combination meal. Aziza is the perfect place for a date night, a catch-up with friends or a family dinner.

    Cornbread
    Rajat K.

Aziza is a total mood. The decor hits that perfect sweet spot of dark, soothing, and sophisticated. It's the kind of atmosphere that lets you really focus on the food. And speaking of the food: the dips are the undisputed stars here. Every single one we tried was packed with flavor and perfectly textured. While the flatbread is incredible on its own, its true purpose in life is clearly to serve as a vehicle for those dips. The Shakshuka was another standout, beautifully presented with a sophisticated foam that really elevated the dish. We also tried the Cornbread, which was a delightful surprise. I expected a simple side, but it was unexpectedly sweet and completely hit the mark. The waiting staff was nice and funny. Any chance of a South Bay expansion?

A friend and I had reservations, and when we walked in, staff refused to acknowledge us at all. At least 10-15 minutes passed of us standing there awkwardly trying to make eye contact before someone (presumably a manager) approached us and with an icy attitude asked how he can help us. We said we have a reservation, and he said "well that's new" with some more attitude. I was taken aback and didn't say anything, and my friend politely said "the slot was available online so we booked it." We were seated and our waitress was polite and explained the menu when we had questions, but didn't really check back much, if at all. Our appetizers were incredible - we ordered the platter. The rest of the dishes were not great. We were forcing ourselves to push it down and try to finish. I think we ordered a salmon dish and a beef kabob type of dish. We may have ordered dishes that weren't highly rated, which was just bad luck, hopefully. Dishes also took a very long time to come out compared to other similar establishments and similar menus. The atmosphere in the establishment was really nice, gorgeous decor that was cohesive and though not adhering to any specific culture, it worked well together. It's a good place for group dinners or a date or just catching up with old friends. Cozy, intimate, calm. However with the insulting and appalling service, and the hit or miss food, I would not go back nor recommend this to others. Other acquaintances did express surprise at my experience, so it makes me wonder if it was just a bad night or if the establishment picks and chooses to whom quality services should be delivered. Either way, the atmosphere was pleasant enough to get 2 stars but I can't honestly say anything nicer about the rest of the experience. Really disappointed. Side note: some of the dishes and experiences from the night have now become a running joke among us. We went on to have a better night after we left Aziza :)

Trio hands down the best dip I ever had but my bf kept saying one tasted like a hotdog and you know it kind of did but damn it was good!! Sadly I made the mistake and got full and couldn't finish my meal‍ Beef was so good a little salty but that's me. I would come back in heart beat. Butter for the cornbread is bomb! This was definitely enough food for 2 maybe even 3 ppl if you have self control on the bread and dip then 2 lol

Piquillo and almond dip with flatbread
    Poojitha S.

Came here for a Saturday dinner and we were very impressed with the service and food! All the dishes tasted top notch!! We ordered a lot of dishes: the piquillo dip with sumac flatbread, roasted cauliflower with muhammara, shakshuka, cornbread with harrisa buttter and chicken basteeya. We were pretty full by the end and took 2 of the dishes as to-go. Loved the place and will definitely be back to try more dishes. Ambiance was pretty great, lots of seating but definitely needs reservations. We came in at 5pm and the place was pretty full by 6pm. Street parking can get tricky.

Food: 3/5 Service: 3/5 Ambiance: 4/5 Portion to Price: 3/5 Overall: Food was standard fare. The extended review... Food: Custard French Toast - 3/5 - Definitely more of a toast than a custard toast. Service: 3/5 - Standard service. Ambiance: 4/5 - A very well decorated interior. Portion to Price: 3/5 - Pricing for portion was fair.

Are there heat lamps for outdoor seating?

Yes, there are. But generally it can get super cold in the area, especially at night.

Do they have options for vegetarians and vegans? No meat, fish or eggs based dishes?

Yes, absolutely! There are more vegetarian than vegan dishes, a few of the vegetarian dishes have eggs in them, but the wait staff mentioned the chef isn't big on using dairy so most dishes are void of cheese and creams. They were able to remove…

Is delivery available? If not, how about takeout? And if there is takeout, any helpful tips on placing or picking up the order? Thanks!

Hi Ashley! We are no longer doing delivery, but are still doing take away for pick up. We do have instructions on our website at azizasf.com under the "take out" menu, but…

What dish is definitely gluten-free, meaning no bread, no beer, no soy sauce, no wheat products? Thx!

A significant portion of their menu items do not have gluten. Have you checked the menu? Almost all vegetable and meat dishes are without gluten. Changes seasonally, but you should be able to spot on the menu before making a reservation.

Do you have hookah and belly dancing nights?

Hello and thank you for your inquiry. No we no longer have the belly dancing nights. We also do not have hookah nights.

Is there any Halal options available?

Hi Fariha, Our chicken is halal! So the roulade and our basteeya are both halal. I hope this…

Is the bar seating first come first serve? Does the bar serve the regular menu? Do you have a happy hour?

Bar is first come, first serve. The bar does serve the same menu. There is NO happy hour.

We also got the olive oil cake which came with a dollop of what I think is whipped cream cheese. It had a strong olive oil flavor, extremely moist and delicious. It's slightly charred, perfectly bouncy, and just delicious. Dare I say... it's the best in the city? This is the kind of place where you'll actually eat every last bite of the crust. They also make a great housemade ranch that's perfect for dipping. Thankfully they have a great wine list too because what's better on this earth than excellent pizza, a spot of ranch, and a crispy glass of wine. Beyond just the pizza being good, this place has so many little things that make it special. We started with their asparagus appetizer with pickled onion and a very nice aioli with trout and finely chopped walnuts. We're off to a good start with this very well thought out and composed dish. Came on a night when they serve their smashed burgers in brioche bun. It's beefy and flavorful. Very satisfying. The fries are probably twice fried. Crunchy and still retained a semi tender center. It's voodoo magic good. Also tried their sour dough pappardelle. It has a pretty pronounced fresh asparagus note. It's a very satisfying dish. The place has a cool vibe with the reclaimed wood (or maybe just old?) walls and not too brightly lit dining room. Bathroom was clean. Wait staff was professional and helpful. I wish I have it in me to try their desserts but I was already quite full. (No photos since I made all the food disappeared before the thought of photos popped into my head. Till next time, Outerland ...

Unfortunately, I left feeling like the experience simply didn't justify the hype or the price. To start with the positives, the pecan brioche sticky bun was genuinely delicious. At $8 it was hard to justify the price for the size, but the flavor was excellent. The smash potatoes were also very well done, crispy, flavorful, and easily one of the better items we ordered, even if $10 felt steep for the portion. Everything else, however, left us scratching our heads. My in laws ordered the breakfast sandwich, which starts at $17 without the sausage. Adding the sausage brought it to an astonishing $23, and honestly, it was a pretty average breakfast sandwich. We all agreed we could have walked a block over to Devil's Teeth and gotten something larger, more satisfying, and nearly half the price. We also ordered the fried mortadella sandwich, which came in at $18. It tasted fine, but at the end of the day it felt like an expensive deli sandwich that didn't do enough to justify the cost. The biggest disappointment was the Dutch pancake. At $20, we expected something memorable. Instead, it arrived overcooked around the edges while the center was an absolute runny mess. It was easily the weakest dish of the meal. The dining experience itself also felt a bit strange. We were a party of five, and were asked if we'd be willing to share our table in case another group of three came in. I understand restaurants trying to maximize seating, but it made the meal feel less comfortable than we'd hoped. The saving grace of our visit was the staff. Everyone we interacted with was genuinely friendly, accommodating, and welcoming. They were the highlight of the experience and made us feel well taken care of despite our disappointment with the food. I can appreciate that Outerlands has built a loyal following over the years, but after this visit I just don't understand the hype. Between the inconsistent execution and the exceptionally high prices, it's difficult for me to justify coming back when there are so many other fantastic brunch spots in the Sunset offering better value.
