Amazing place don't let the picture fool you this place is a gem and has good service

The food and service are both "meh" at best. My wife and I shared the molcajete mixto and was pretty grossed out by it. The contents were swimming in a pool of grease and the flavor left me regretting going there. Maybe the other dishes are better, but for the molcajete I would say go somewhere else. Service is great.My burrito lacked flavor tho.Shrimp was not seasoned at all and was rubbery.Rice was mushy and what ever sauce that was supposed to be in the burrito had barely any inside.My tortilla on one half was served soggy as well. The Horchata is pretty good from here. I most likely would not recommend this place to friend or family so far because my first item was terrible, but who knows they may have other great items. Almost forgot. The chips and salad was also good, but I think the salsa was going bad. Every time I took a bite into the salsa, my tongue would get a tingle sensation kinda like after eating pineapple and it wasn't from the spices either. Ordered from Postmates, what a DISAPPOINTMENT!!! Caldo de res was flavorless, no salt, tasted like water. Poorly packaged since more than half of the water tasting broth was in the bag. This place is incredible! So good we went two days in a row. Originally I had the Machaca burrito and was taken back with how delicious and massive it was. Finished it off with churros and ice cream. The churros were so good and fresh. The second day it was queso fundido and shrimp tacos with diabla sauce. In my opinion the fundido is a must have appetizers and diabla sauce has so much flavor and the perfect level of spice. The service and atmosphere is second to none. You will feel as though you had just been welcomed in to a family member's house who won't let you leave until your belly is full and warm. This place is pretty good and has good pricing especially on taco Tuesdays. I would have given 5 stars but I was not informed that they charge extra for chips and salsa when you ask for refills. So be aware if you don't want to be charged extra. It's pretty small in there and it gets busy. read more

This restaurant never disappoints! Great Mexican food and drinks, friendly staff, and close to home. I love getting their steak encebollado (cooked with sauteed onions) There's a lot of flavor, comes with rice, beans, and a small side of salad. I've had in the past their mini sopes, bacon wrapped shrimp, churros, and guac with chips. Everything is made fresh and very delicious. I've been coming here for years and it was my first time back in a few months. The prices were raised by almost $2 in the past year, even with inflation that doesn't really add up. I love their ceviche here and their Taco al Gobernador. This place used to be 5 stars for me, but my recent visit was a little off. I was able to overlook the increased prices, but what triggered me was the fact that though there are 3 workers, only one of them was able to ring me up and take my order?? I mean I've been working for the food service industry for a while now and it makes no sense to me why the two other girls working there aren't allowed to take someone's order at the cash register? (I understand if it was a traditional sit down restaurant, I would assume they're just not servers, but not for this one) The man taking my order is pretty nice, but he wasn't very attentive with listening. I was not speaking softly so I am not sure how he messed up my order twice. I was able to overlook the mess up in tacos, sure. But I asked for extra sauce which he says he would need to charge me extra, I said it's fine and I was going to pay for it anyways so I asked for 3 extra sauces at 25 cents each, he only gave me 1. At that point, I just left because he seemed to be in a rush with only 2 other tables. Food is still really good, that would be a 5/5 from me. We used to live this place. Good food and we have gotten take out and dine in. However, tonight, the man working there was so rude. We wanted to sit and enjoy our meal , but when we sat down and asked to order, the man told us " well we close at 10pm." We looked at our phones and it was 8:15pm. So I've been wanting to try this place. The food presentation was good, but unfortunately very overpriced! I ordered the bacon wrapped shrimp, 2 out of 6 were burnt. They make the shrimp look big by stuffing them with imitation crab. Not my favorite. The beans tasted ok. The rice was tasty. Simple iceberg lettuce with red onion salad with thousand island dressing. $25.00 was too for this dish. I feel like I paid to use their beautiful dishes. My son found this location from an Instagram ad and was excited to try this one out. Theres a couple locations in Orange that we've frequented before and thought we'd give this one a shot. While the first time we dined here was a good experience, (the food was hot and the cook made it with love), the subsequent visits were not! I've come by during lunch hours on separate occasions really wanting to have that same experience but unfortunately they have left me disappointed each time. The rice and beans are never hot! The meats for the tacos is never fresh, it's either days old carnitas or carne asada that's most likely been sitting there since earlier. This was my second time visiting and we stopped in for some breakfast. We were greeted and shown to our table within seconds of walking in. Our waitress was very attentive and friendly, she even gave us her own recommendations when asked. I ordered the menudo which was just spot on. You can definitely tell that the tripe was cleaned very well and the flavor and color of the broth was just excellent. We were also greeted by the owner who kindly engaged in a friendly conversation about the restaurants other locations. The friendly staff also served us a delicious dessert on the house. The albondigas was better the next day and you can tell it was made from scratch, it was a bit oily but I assume that might be from the chile pods/skin to make the broth. It still tasted good and had unique flavor. Carne asada tacos were tasty and my toddler enjoyed the beans and chicken quesadilla. I was disappointed with the chile relleno. The chile was very tough and the cheese was chewy and not melted well enough. I couldn't eat it. Rellenos are hard to make so I get it but also the sauce tasted like plain tomato sauce. Maybe that's a regional thing? Idk. I might return to try breakfast and/or mariscos, as it sounds like this might be where they shine. Hoping for a tastier experience. read more
