The place is nice and the smell is overwhelming with delicious meat. They have a difference assortment of pies that are deep fried in heart clogging goodness. Let me first start by saying that we got there at 8:15. I ordered pork ribs and sausage with green beans and Mac n cheese. The ribs were on point that's why I gave it 2 stars. However, my Mac n cheese was awful...I literally had to throw it up in a napkin. It tasted like old cheese that has been sitting in oil. My sausage was severely over cooked and it was shriveled up. You pull up and they act like they're open...then half way through asking for your order they say oops we're actually closed? Flaky. Answer the phones like they're open? My wife and I stopped by here today on our way to our hotel. We were not real hungry so we ordered the chopped beef sandwiches. She had a side of potato salad while I had the Texas style beans Couldn't have been any better. As a retired country club manager, we enjoy checking out different places and two thumbs up from both of us on this place. Will be going back tonight to check out one of their fried pies. Staff seems friendly. However, my hot links sandwich had the links sliced along instead into small pieces, which lead to me ripping pieces out of the sandwich. In hindsight I should have just cut it myself. The sides were ok, but nothing to write home about. The Fried Pie was actually very good and is recommended. The worst ribs and bar-be- que I have ever eaten . Dry and tough. Sauce with way too much vinegar. They charge way to much to eat off of Styrofoam plates and to be served food sitting cafeteria dried out style with flies swarming about. Food dished out by a man with a beard with no hair guard in place nor gloves on. Fried pies lining the counter for all to touch with open ended paper sleeves. (Remember the flies) Disgusting. I am sorry to do this, but I LOVED the Bakers ribs in Greenville, TX, and this is the same exact company and you would think that the food would be consistent, but it's not! The BBQ here was absolutely terrible in every way, they only thing that they did well was the fried pies. I couldn't believe it, I just wasted my money on this crap food. Very friendly staff Menu is confusing and prices aren't clear. Pulled pork was mushy and no smoke flavor. Ribs were moist, meaty, had decent smoke, but not enough tug for me. Beans were decent, nut are cowboy style (slightly peppery spice) and not traditional BBQ place smokey beans. Cole slaw is average; Similar to KFC, which isn't a bad thing. One type of sauce. Ketchup you tangy. Again, not a smokey sauce. Pickle, pepper, onion, relish and sauce bar for your garnishing pleasure. Fresh daily fried pies of a multitude varieties for desert. I got blackberry. The employees are Not sanitized they do not use gloves when they handled the food-- in fact there was one boy --- picking at his nose and then wiping his nose on the top of his hand and then he got a foam plate to write the order on and put the inside of the plate up to his mouth.. ------ just a heads up for you people thinking about stopping there take a good look before ordering your food ... One of the best places I've had for good barbecue. Walking through the front door, we were greeted by the wonderful smell of barbecue, then the wonderful staff. They were attentive to my wife and me and our picky 2 boys! The music wasn't loud, like some ridiculous honky tonk; the booth seats are comfortable. The turkey was not salty; the flavor was just right. Both brisket and pulled pork were flavorful and the barbecue sauce is great... just the right amount of sweetness and tartness. Happened upon this delicious find when we were iced in for a few days in Weatherford. Not being especially knowledgeable about Texas food, I ordered a brisket and a plate of two meats with sides, along with fruit pies for my husband, son and myself. Boy, did we ever eat well. The meats were out of this world, the BBQ sauce was tangy and just sweet enough, the potato salad was creamy (and NOT sweet, a big plus for us!). One fruit pie disappeared before I made it to the cash register. Service was super friendly and warm from the owner himself. Came here today for a couple of sides to go with my ribs I was cooking at home. I ordered a pint of baked beans and potato salad. I asked the person working there if they were homemade and they said no they come in a kit! Never looked at the price thinking that a couple of sides would be cheep enough. Stopped in for the first time since I was passing thru. Pork ribs were nice and meaty and had good bark on them. Brisket was also very good with ample smoke. What inspired me to post was that the owner was on site and took the time to have several lengthy conversations with customers. I would have to give this place a low average. The meat was not cooked thoroughly though, was bright pink. Scallop potatoes were crunchy not cooked through and greasy from the cheese. The meat though it was a dry rub you would need to add sauce. The sauce was on a tangy but spicy side. My son said it tasted like Arby's sauce. The peach cobbler was a mash of cobbler doughish material. The macaroni and cheese did not have enough cheese and was overly seasoned, it was cooked to the point that it was mashed. Now to their signature pies my son got the chocolate pie, I got the peach pie. The pie is very greasy doughy material reminiscent of McDonald's pies at a larger scale. So you're biting into a greasy pie material with a ingredient in the middle. Overall, even though my review is not 100% positive, I would not eat here again. It's unfortunate as this was a trip to Texas from California and I was hoping for some very positive uplifting barbecue, Texas style! The only thing big in this meal was the price. I have included two pictures of two meals for the price of $38. That's big in Texas for takeout for two people. I was thinking this place is more of a one and a half star location. Hubby and I stopped by this BBQ joint on the way home from a weekend hiking at Possum Kingdom. As you can imagine, we were famished and in dire need of some nice, nutritious food after this little romp in the woods. Thanks to my good friends at Yelp, we found this spot. Recently, I found out they have a location in Dallas, too, so I definitely will be revisiting their other location in the future :) Good grub here! I enjoyed their signature ribs and sausage while hubby chowed down on some ribs and chopped beef. Everything was absolutely finger-lickin-delish. Sweet tea was on point, too. For what you pay, you get a pretty decent amount of food, which is a nice change of pace. Also, free ice cream!!!!!!! :) My only reason for 1 star off is that we shared we chocolate fried pie (apparently one of their famous treats) and we simly weren't too impressed :/ Maybe we'll try a different flavor in the future and our minds will change but that's where we stand on that. read more

It is honestly sacrilegious not to have good BBQ before leaving. It is Texas BBQ joint, so for someone who prefers something like God forbid VA stye of dining and pulled pork... lol j/k, it might be a bit different. It has the smoke flavor I craved and the sauce was spicy tangy sauce, and not sweet. Im not sure, but you might be able to get different sauces (I've just never asked). We did get it to go, so I am not sure about the inside. So, this review won't include much detail. It did seem large enough to accommodate a crowd, and it was clean. The pricing was right. I love that the bbq is good and their sides I like! They are one of my favorites bc they have both I like when other bbq places sides suck if meats good or it's swapped! This place the bbq is ranked about a 4 and sauce is decent as well so I like to eat there but... Wish they wouldn't have Religious Music inside! I am religious too but do Not want to hear it in bbq place! It needs country music! So it's hard to eat inside bc it bothers us bc it's loud and too church like! Even on Sunday... I'll go to church but after church I don't want to hear the music anymore! I think that's why people don't eat inside much bc it's cute as can be inside! I've never been to a Baker's Ribs before and decided to stop on my way through to Decatur. I ordered sliced brisket, turkey, and a sweet tea. The staff was very pleasant and service was fast. It goes downhill from there. The turkey tasted like something you would get from the deli at Wal-Mart, and looked like it too. I've never had BBQ turkey like that anywhere. And it was wet - like, slimey wet. The brisket was better. Nothing to write home about. Average. The tea tastes like literal dirt, to the point where I had to check to see if there was dirt in my tea. I suspect maybe the dispensers haven't been fully cleaned in awhile, or maybe the tea was extremely old. I couldn't finish it, which is a shame. I did enjoy the barbecue sauce though, so that's something. read more
