The only thing good about my meal was the cold beer. Sadly it took 15min to get one. The house specialty Gen Tso should be renamed deep fried gristle with Kraft honey bbq. All tried dishes should be half the price. When you go here think "McDonalds Japanese" and you wont be disappointed. Same quality sushi as the packaged stuff at Publix, but Publix restroom actually clean. Staff mediocre and while all attended to us at some point none of then seemed to care if we had no beverages or spent 15 min with a cleared table and no check. At least at McDonalds check is paid right away and you can leave at any time. While it might be tempting to try a new place don't waste your time here. Would give zero stars if possible. read more

First time we went here, the service was abysmal. We gave it another try and the service was even WORSE. We know why. There is a tall Thai woman who starts serving your table then disappears. While the food was great, we got our orders quickly, this woman server disappears after you're served and doesn't come back unless you get up to leave. it took her FOREVER to come back, and we really needed more water after our spicy meal. my husband, humanitarian that he is, refused to tip her, and i've never, ever seen him do that. This woman needs lessons in not being rude. she has no clue, obviously, how to pace her service. I was so hot and miserable, I had to get up from the table and leave the restaurant. it was cooler outside in 90 degree Florida, than in the restaurant. what a very bad experience, and it was all due to the tall woman with the pronounced lips. if we go back again, we will ask for another server. they should train this one or fire her, she is terrible. she just doesn't get it. read more

I ordered the spicy tai noodles. The waiter came back with a bowl of ramen noodles without the flavor packet. Orange chicken was dry and hard. Bad choice on my part for choosing the restaurant. Also they top off your drink way too much because they give you a tiny glass. One more thing, I walked into the restroom and even though I did not use the toilet paper i could tell it was the cheapest tp ever made. Don't go here ever. read more

To be fair we went on a Friday night in season. Nearly every table was occupied and we ended up at a crooked table with an askew light fixture near the kitchen, but right next to a booth that was occupied only by silverware, napkins, and employees. We didn't seem to have a designated server, as multiple people came to our table but they all seemed like unprofessional assistants. My boyfriend ordered a beer from the menu. She said they were out and walked away without offering something else instead. The edamame had remnants of someone else's chopstick wrapper and a piece of shrimp in it ,and seemed to have been served and re-served. The miso soup I ordered never came. I ordered two simple tuna rolls and one or our servers told me that'd be 25 minutes. When it finally showed up it was tuna cream cheese, not tuna avocado like I ordered. The part of the server station/kitchen door that I could see was filthy as was the ladies room. When we were finished we were the last table in the restaurant and nobody would come back to cash us out. Finally we got up to try and pay at the front desk and all of the people who'd been waiting on us waived goodbye and told us to have a good night. None of them noticed we hadn't yet paid. We giggled and slowly walked to our car wondering how long it would take for them to notice. Someone finally did and chased us out on the sidewalk. We gladly went back in and paid, laughing. The sushi that I ate wasn't bad, nor was my bf's thai food, but everything else was awful. If you're in the mood for sushi go to Sushi Hana on SR 70. They never disappoint. After reading the reviews and noting that some said the service was bad, my wife and I visited this place. You need to understand the people who work here. Once you are seated, they basically do not want you to feel hurried. If they are not busy they will gladly talk with you. Best Chinese food in the area. Haven't had much luck finding a decent Chinese restaurant in the Sarasota-Bradenton area. But Bangkok Tokyo, in addition to Thai and Japanese dishes, serves very good Cantonese, Szechuan and Hunan Chinese food. We shared really good Mongolian Beef, Sesame Chicken, and Moo Shoo Pork. The Szechuan dish had a good kick and the other dishes were fresh and tasty. We all enjoyed the Chinese Wonton soup. My wife's 2 egg rolls were crispy and as good as you can get in NYC. The prices were a little higher than the 2 other Chinese restaurants in the area, but 3 main dishes were enough for 4. Service was friendly and competent. We will definitely go back. It would be nice if the restaurant offered combination plates. read more

My husband and I went here for the first time, we usually go to The Rice Bowl a few doors down, which we love, but thought we would try something different. Nothing had any flavor to it. We had the Bangkok Crab Rangoon, no flavor. The dipping sauce had no flavor. I ordered the chicken and beef stir fry. The sauce was a very watered down soy sauce, no flavor at all. The portion was very small, I was still hungry when I left the restaurant. My husband had the Bangkok Roll with tuna and eel. The roll was very loose, fell apart when eating it. The tuna was mushy not firm like it should be. And all he could taste was the wasabi, he did not like it at all. He also had the House Special Cantonese with pan fried noodles. Again, no flavor. He had the same watered down soy sauce that I had. Even the hot tea had no flavor. We will not be back. We spent over $50 and we were still hungry when we left. I will go back to The Rice Bowl or take a drive and go to The Pacific Rim. read more

Went here with two other diners, and none of us enjoyed our food. I ordered the grilled chicken teriyaki, which came to my table not grilled. The chicken had clearly been boiled/steamed, and the teriyaki was a strong sauce that was just drizzled ontop of it. The chicken came on a bed of plain white rice with some hard veggies that had been lightly steamed. I barely touched my plate after the first bite of chicken, it was just so gross. My companions had the chicken pad thai and sushi, some of which I sampled since I did not eat anything on my plate. The pad thai was just okay, however the chicken in it had almost a soggy texture to it. Sushi was alright, nothing amazing but not bad. Will not be returning. read more

The vegetables overwhelmed the dish and were scarcely cooked. I sent it back and ordered a can't miss mu shoo pork that gave me the runs. For what you expect the place out lives it. I always have the ginger chicken. Fresh and beyond expectations. My wife has had several other dishes and all have been great value and taste. We even had the sushi with reservation. Sushi was good but not enough for a true sushi place. I won't call it for just sushi folks.
