We came to Bardstown meeting some friends from out of town. We weren't sure where to go but found Bardstown Burger online and were glad we found it. Easy simple menu. Ordering was smooth and the food came out fast! Since they were pretty busy inside and the weather was nice we sat outside and had plenty of time to visit. We will be back! If I could give this 2 more stars, I would. Not only did this place meet my expectations, but it also did wonders for my empty stomach. Now, I'm not usually the one for burgers or burritos as I take the time out of my day to stop by a fancy restaurant. I was expecting some sort of monstrosity layered with grease, soggy buns, dry lettuce, or perhaps a little fly friend. It seems I was too quick to judge the outside. The inside of the establishment was plain. However, it had a comforting mood to it which made it all the more easy to settle in. Not only was it comfortable but the staff there was really nice. While we were waiting for our food, one of the employees came up to us and started a nice conversation. Best burger I've had in ages. They are on the small side, which to me is a big plus. Perfect thickness, not too thin, not too thick. Sometimes burgers are so thick you can't even get a good bite. They offer double patties for those wanting a larger meal. Made to order. I had grilled mushrooms, grilled onions, and pepper jack. Yummy. My husband had a traditional cheeseburger and he liked it a lot. Both had onion rings which were good. Small but crispy. This is an order at the counter and hope to find a table kind of place. Let me preface by saying that I really don't like to eat out in fast casual restaurants but we were starving after visiting Heaven Hill and overheard one of the bar tenders recommend this place. I was riding my motorcycle from Gallatin Tennessee and had to stop for a bite to eat. Google came up with a number of different places but I settled on this quaint little burger shop and I was glad I did. The hamburger was juicy, well cooked and packed with flavor. We stopped in for a Friday lunch, and it was very busy, and the staff was really great. A solid staff means I'll always come back, even if the food is meh. The Outlaw Burger was very tasty. Buns are quality and the cheese was melted just right. BBQ burgers are done to death in SoCal but this one had a local & genuine vibe to it. I'll get one again. On the negative, the seating area is very small; also, it's hard to get a big group in there even if it's empty. So with a family of six, it isn't ideal. Shakes and fries? Welllll .... wait until I clarify something. I gave it three stars; why? I don't give a place has a 5-star rating on the first visit, and it was short of a 4 just because, frankly, homemade burgers just ain't enough for 4. Why not homemade fries, too? Very little establishment, only a few places to sit. I had a double cheeseburger. Very good, very tasty. No dought it was done on a flattop. My friend had a grilled chicken sandwich. It looked like a rubber chicken grilled. A Very simple sandwich. French fries were very tiny and well done. Onion rings were ok. My only issue was the ventilation sucked. Such an amazing addition to Bardstown! Bardstown Burger is a super cute burger place tucked away on the main strip of downtown Bardstown. The space is beautifully decorated, and pays homage to the history of the building while incorporating modern touches. We visited Saturday around 11:30 and ordered a veggie burger, the grilled cheese, fries and a cookies & cream milkshake. The woman who took our order was incredibly friendly - I think she might have been one of the owners - and walked us through her suggestions of what to add to the veggie burger. (So glad we took her advice and added grilled mushrooms!) There was a steady stream of customers but we still managed to get our food about 5 minutes after we ordered. The milkshake came first and it was everything you wanted in a milkshake - creamy and decadent but still thin enough to drink if you wanted to. It was topped with whipped cream and had giant cookie chunks folded in. The food came out next, and can we just stop for a moment and give thanks to the crinkle cut fry? Whoever invented the crinkle cut fry was a real hero. Bardstown Burger's fries come out hot and overflowing in an adorable mini fry basket. Since they're not frozen, they are super pillowy in the middle and crunchy on the outside. We got a side cheese cup for them - because why wouldn't you, if it's offered?! - and were glad we did. The grilled cheese was super cheesy and crunchy, and deceptively filling once you finished. I really appreciated the panini style that caused the bread to form to the cheese in one delicious layer after the other. The veggie burger was great - not overcooked, like some places that just throw on a vegetarian option and forget about it. The bun was buttered and toasted. I was shocked at how good the tomato was considering it was January. Our bill was very low for what I'd expect at a fast-casual restaurant, considering everything is made by hand. They have a super cute courtyard behind the building, which will be so nice once weather picks up. Overall a delicious spot and a much needed addition to the Bardstown food scene!! read more

If you've never walked/driven down the historic Main Street in Bardstown, you are definitely missing out. Only a 45 minute drive south of Louisville, it really might be 'the best small town in America'. Anyways, we knew we wanted to enjoy some takeout from downtown and eat in the car on a rainy day and decided to give this a shot because I was craving a good burger. I was debating between the Outlaw Burger and the Bardstown Burger, and I went with the Outlaw. It has onion rings and BBQ sauce on it, which is a unique combo but definitely tasty. The fries are pretty standard crinkle cut, and I'd recommend getting the cup of cheese to go along with it. Good place for a burger! read more

While on a business trip to Lexington I stopped off in this quaint town on the Bourbon trail. Bardstown has many restaurants to choose from and several are pretty high end for a small town. However, I was a little tight on time and just looking for a nice lunch. Mind you, I rarely eat beef but could not help myself from checking out Bardstown Burger. Can you say friendly service? That's the first thing you notice upon entering this little place. The servers and even the owner back in the kitchen make sure you are taken care of. As I scanned the menu I noticed the Spicy Burger and decided to go with it. I did not disappoint. The burger is cooked on a flat top with that perfect crispy you only get on a flat top while still juicy in the middle. What more can I say, the flavors of the spicy mayo, jalapeno peppers and cheese was perfect. I had them leave off the bacon but I'm sure it would have been equally fantastic. The fries are served in one of those cute little miniature fry baskets and you know how you can tell if they are using old oil or not? Well, these folks keep it clean and pure because the fries were extra crunchy and soft in the center which tells me they cook at the perfect temperature with highly filtered/clean cooking oil. While in Louisville we took a casual drive down to Bardstown which is near the Bernhiem Forest featuring giant wooden troll sculptures! We stopped for lunch at Bardstown Burger and it was awesome! Upon opening the door the smell of grilled caramelized onion draws you in. The staff was super friendly and very helpful to suggest crispy fries and delicious milkshakes. I ordered the bacon cheeseburger with grilled onions and cheddar cheese. The buns were soft and buttery golden brown. I wish I had a Bardstown Burger in Cincinnati because it was on point. The restaurant was clean and charming. The restaurant is actually in the same building as an old hamburger joint from Bardstown's past. It had lots of character and the owners are super welcoming!
