Crunchy Chipotle Chicken (D, E) and El Jefe Loco (D)

Was here on a weekday for a team lunch. For a Friday afternoon at noon it was pretty empty. So we got seated pretty quick and our server was prompt with chips, salsa and water for all. It took a while for our order to come but they prompt with getting us refills on the chips and salsa. I ordered a couple of the El Jefe Specials - El Jefe Loco and Crunchy Chipotle Chicken and a build your own - pulled pork and chorizo for protein, pico de gallo and corn salsa with chipotle crema and mango habenero sauces. The tacos were huge and scrumptious would be an understatement. It was a taco version of sloppy joes that makes you feel warm and fuzzy! Always loved Barrio for their tacos and margaritas. You cannot go wrong here.

Quick and convenient taco spot after having a night around the town. We stopped in on an ever so busy Saturday night. We were promptly seated and asked if we wanted chips & queso which we gladly ordered which was phenomenal. We then ordered our tacos which basically lets you build custom made tacos and bowls with whichever toppings you choose. The best thing about this place is allowing your creativity to flow with the unlimited options for one of the best foods tacos.

My husband and I went here after a night of drinking. The food was awesome, the atmosphere was great for after a nice bar, the music was just right. The bartender was very friendly and let us do our own thing. My husband had 2 of the El Vegano, he really liked it, it had good flavor and was extremely filling. I had the El Jefe Loca, which was soooo good. Everything went well together and I also put some of the Mango salsa from our appetizer chips. I also had I think was El Sully, it was also delicious either way. Had a great time here and was really good late night spit in Cleveland. I would def come again...we both would hah!

Wow. This is one of the best places to get Mexican and tacos you can make your own taco anyway you like it. Fun atmosphere with lots of really cool paintings on the wall. Service was quick and they explained to us how to get the best taco I've ever had. We also ordered the fresh warm chips and salsa which was delicious.

If you're doing dry January make this a stop! The only place I've seen that doesn't charge the same price for an NA drink (only $5!) - as usual the tacos and burrito bowls are fabulous and their salsa is my fav of all time. A true Cleveland must stop if you're an out of towner or heading to a game downtown. Always a good lively vibe with great service!

We visited Barrio during St. Patrick's Day weekend, expecting a long wait, but we were seated immediately--huge plus! The staff was super friendly, patient, and knew their menu well, which made the experience even better. We ordered the Make Your Own Tacos, which was such a fun and customizable option, along with the Tree Amigos (guacamole, queso blanco, and pico de gallo) and their complimentary Salsa Rojo--all of which were fresh and packed with flavor. We also tried the El Gringo, and it did not disappoint! The food was delicious, and the prices were very reasonable for the quality and portions. The ambiance is definitely on the lively side, as it's both a taco spot and a bar with plenty of seating, so expect some noise. But if you're looking for great tacos, excellent service, and a fun atmosphere, Barrio is a must-visit!

We ended up here, when our bartender at a downtown brewery recommended their food. So grateful to that bartender. Food was fantastic, we wanted something simple, tacos, seemed to be the way to go. But the flavor was anything but simple! Wonderful taste and presentation. Also the staff (bartender and host at the door) were very kind and helpful. Look forward to again traveling from Upstate New York to Cleveland for a wonderful meal!

The ambiance was relaxing and we got the nice cozy booth at end of the bar ordered the Taco's with a side of rice and beans and a few margaritas. The food was delicious and we had a damn good time, but what really impressed us was the incredible service. Our server Dan was literally amazing, highly attentive and made us feel at home. I don't think I have ever had better service in my life. After that experience we said we had to come back again. So, we did. We came back to celebrate my girlfriend's birthday on a Friday. To our surprise the place was packed and busy. Since they don't do reservations we knew for sure we wouldn't get our cozy booth and the service would be no where near as good as it was last time. I was pleasantly surprised. As we enter the packed restaurant, a man came up to us with such a positive and friendly attitude and told us about the wait time and that he would add us to the list. While we waited we ordered margaritas and talked further with the man. This man turned out to be the Owner of Momocho, Eric. This guy is one of the coolest dudes you'll ever meet. He gave us a few of his delicious recipes he created, told us about his restaurant, and remarked on how great his incredible staff is, especially Dan. After the wait, Eric escorted us to the top floor, and to our surprise he put us at the "Chef's table". We had front row seats to watching the Amazing Chef's cook. Chef Manny was fantastic, watching him work, talking with him, and answering our questions about the different dishes made are experience that much more enjoyable. He took our orders: "Little Tacos" we got the Pollo, Machaca, Side of rice, Barbacoa with a fried egg and a flight of Margaritas. Everything was insanely good. The Margaritas are very tasty definitely recommend. At the end of our meal Dan personally delivered my girlfriend one of their delicious "Chocobomba" desserts with a candle in it, and Sang happy birthday with me. Overall this place is a 10 out of 10. I highly recommend it. I want to sincerely thank Eric, Dan, and Manny for the incredible experience, and for making my girl friend's birthday a memorable and special one. Also wanted to toss in here that it was fantastic seeing one of my favorite servers from the now closed restaurant "Xinji" working on the Momocho team. Shout out to Jack.

It was very busy and we were told there is a 30 minute wait. Not much else in the area so we hung out by the bar and got seated sooner than expected. The first floor is more casual with bar seating and high top tables. The second floor is more formal dining tables. You'll need to climb stairs (did not see an elevator). I was a bit skeptical if we'd have enough options as vegetarians, but was pleasantly surprised at how full we got from all the items we ordered! The guacamole trio, flautas, remolacha, salsa and chips, and drinks. We were there to celebrate a birthday and I asked staff (maybe a manager) if they do anything to celebrate. He mentioned they have a fried ice cream and can put a candle in it. I hadn't confirmed what dessert we planned to order, but before I knew it they came around with the fried ice cream and candle. So, we got to try that. Overall, good food.

The floors were extremely sticky--every step literally felt like my shoes were pulling off the ground. It didn't feel clean at all. As I got closer to the restroom area, there was a strong smell of what I can only describe as wet, moldy rags. The bathroom itself was dark, oddly designed, and just gave an overall uncomfortable vibe. What made it worse is that the place wasn't even busy--there was only one table and a couple people at the bar. So the lack of service and cleanliness really stood out. By the time I walked back to the bar, I had already made up my mind. No one had still acknowledged me, and based on the condition of the place, I wasn't willing to take a chance on the food. I grabbed my things and left. Later on, I mentioned it at another restaurant and was told this place is known for poor food quality and lack of authenticity--which honestly aligned with what I experienced just from being inside. I can't speak on the food since I didn't stay, but based on cleanliness, smell, and service alone, I would not recommend this spot. It gave the impression that basic upkeep isn't a priority, and that's not something I'm willing to overlook.

Charging a "convenience fee" for using a credit card is completely unacceptable. Processing fees are a standard cost of doing business, and nobody is carrying cash around Downtown Cleveland. If a business is going to pull predatory tactics like that, it should at least be clearly stated on the menu. Unsurprisingly, that fee came directly out of the server's tip.
