Definitely priced well vs the other restaurants in the local area 2$ a taco during happy hour. The best taco on happy hour is the el jefe loco. They had a vegan taco the mushrooms where good I didn't like anything else inside it. The hard shell is preferably in my opinion with no corn. The other one was just ground beef in my opinion but it's 2$ so that's the only reason I minuses a star because of that taco and the hard taco shells where broken inside 2 of the corn tortillas and I don't need two corn tortillas wrapped around a hard shell. Other then that good prices best I saw as I walked around the local downtown area. TLDR: amazing tacos and guacamole!! Strong drinks as well. My friend and I decided to stop by Barrio after hearing rave reviews about the food from a couple other friends who live in Cleveland. I love the concept of being able to build your own taco because I've honestly never seen it done before! I ended up ordering 3 soft shell tacos. I got one of them with pulled pork and corn salsa plus all the fixings! The pulled pork was so juicy and tender - I highly recommend getting this meat on your tacos. I also ordered 2 braised short rib tacos with all the fixings. While the short rib was also delicious, I preferred the pulled pork a little bit more because it was more savory. Because it was happy hour, I decided to have a little fun and get myself a margarita. Their drinks menu is quite extensive and it was cool that I could mix various flavors of margarita! It was strong but delicious and refreshing after a long day of exploring. The service was also exceptional and the bartenders were super fun. This place seemed like it was going to be great unfortunately it was not. It was ordering with filling in bubbles so one may wonder how they could get your order wrong. Well it's possible, my tacos had two ingredients in them when I selected around 6 and my husband didn't even come close to getting what he ordered. Food took insanely long to even come out. Keep walking past this place and make a right turn to actual good food so you don't make the same mistake we did. read more

Busy night - concert and Comic Con going on downtown and there was already a line at 4:30p, but we were seated within 30 minutes and got to order pretty quickly. Cool ambiance and fun way to order tacos. I liked the food but didn't love it. I had 3 tacos. A shrimp, chicken and tofu. I thought the tofu taco had the best flavor. Cool spot in Cleveland Heights near Case Western Uni. My friends and I went around an hour before closing time. Menu is a bit confusing to go through the first time around. However, our server made sure I wasn't lead astray. That last hour before closing is always tough, but they were continuously attentive which really made the experience more enjoyable. I ordered the Burrito Bowl with their unique coca-cola flavored steak. It tasted really good, but the entire bowl itself didn't have much of it. Disappointing it costs $1.50 extra. The slaw was overpowering, especially considering my bowl was packed with other flavors. Reasonable price ($10) - about the price of Chipotle. I would probably come here again given the atmosphere and service. Would definitely order something else on the menu. read more

We stopped in for brunch after a charity walk today. Wasn't really shire what to expect, but I assumed this would be standard bar food. You know the kind of food hidden by copious amounts of alcohol. Boy was I wrong. This place has by far the best tacos I've ever had. Food - On point. Various tacos and bowls, with flavors to accommodate any palate. I had 2 Coca-cola marmite steak tacos with mango Hab sauce , and a short rib rice bowl. Superb tastes here, as well as all in our party. Service - Attentive. We were in on Cinco De Mayo, at opening time, just before a baseball game. It was packed. Or waitress was very attentive with food and drinks, and clearing dirty plates. Location/presentation - Lets set the baseline. This isn't a 5 star gourmet presentation. It's a clean and fun themed bar setting, that is still safe for kids. We live in Columbus, so we have been accustomed to their red headed step child, Condados. And I'll say this, I like them both equally. Not going to nitpick either, they are both great. May 21st is when we went I think. This location on Prospect, very cool. Wish we coulda got here earlier, not on a day of an Indians game, etc, but we didn't. So we sat inside. Only complaint, which isn't their fault, was these customers at the front window, we were in the corner, 2-3 tables away, were the only customers in there in their eyes. I understand having a good time, but Jesus. Anyhow, if you're from Columbus, and wonder if Barrio is as good, IMO it is. Have to try the one in Grandview now. read more

Maybe everyone gave it too much hype, but I didn't experience anything out of this world- seems like your basic taco place. All the basic margaritas were more sweet than having flavor. Chips and salsa were GREAT but by the time the tacos arrived I wasn't hungry // they weren't appetizing. This chain serves their own versions of tacos which are lovely. I wouldn't go here for a traditional Mexican taco but if you want something more on the gastro/American side of things, this is your spot! Locals live by Barrio and have kept their several locations thriving. I live close to this site and I frequent it often. Margaritas are priced well during happy hour. I'd recommend you get the taco of the month, whenever possible. This month I got the turkey dinner one and I love every bite (see photo). Omg absolutely LOVE this restaurant. First off they observe social distancing and we sat outside. Andrew, our server, was incredible kind and knowledgeable. You get to pick your ingredients for your tacos!! So many options. Just $3 per taco! Also had the margarita Perfecto which was amazing!!! I had two lol . Totally worth $12. I ate here tonight for dinner without knowing anything about this restaurant. I have never seen a concept with the ordering process before. My server Angela helped me and my wife with all of our questions. She is a great professional server that I would highly recommend to anyone coming here for dinner. Truly a gem in the Cleveland food scene. When my dad was sick in the hospital I used to go to Barrio every single day and get my favorite order off the build your own menu. It was the highlight of my day while my family was going through a lot at the time. I haven't been back lately but I intend on restarting the Barrio binge again. Barrio is very unique because this restaurant has mastered fusion to a T. It's not entirely Mexican but it focuses on mixing the essence of Mexican cuisine with American casual cuisines. The build your own menu is a trip to flavor town each and every time. Each protein, veggie, sauce and cheese perfectly compliments each other no matter whatever crazy combo you pile them up against; and I make the craziest combos! My absolute favorite combo is getting their spice rubbed chicken, shrimp, and thick cut bacon along with the portobello mushroom in a bowl with veggies, all three cheeses, cilantro pesto, chipotle crema, salsa verde along with the spicy reaper sauce. Made my mouth water from just typing all this order out . Barrio used to have a spicy ghost pepper sauce that was replaced by a Carolina reaper sauce which was absolutely killer. It definitely satisfied my hot sauce thirst. It's not for the weak so they recommend you get it SOS (sauce on the side). The service at Barrio is absolutely fantastic each and every time. Being a regular here really pays off as the bartender or staff working usually engages me meaningful conversation during my wait even during their busiest hours. One of my old high school classmates even worked there last time I went so I know Barrio is homegrown and well integrated with the community! Even if you don't like Mexican food or spicy food, you should still give Barrio a try because they have something for everyone! The guacamole and other dips were just meh. I understand why this place is super popular, but because of that the service was very slow and no acknowledgement in delays. Barrio's tacos are the "revelations about life" type. Absolutely amazing food and it's unbelievably cheap (2-5$/taco). The wait staff is fun and upbeat. Ticket times are pretty short and the food comes out a good temperature. Selection is great especially for parties of mixed carnivores, veggie burglars, and vegans. Almost all of the tacos can be mixed and matched to cater to specific diets or food allergies. Definitely a regular place we love to go and will continue taking our out of town guests there as a "welcome to Cleveland's food scene." Note: you can expect to wait a minimum of an hour and a half, however it is worth the wait and there is pretty much always a wait. read more

I've been here a couple of times now and I think it's an A-Okay place. I like the special queso, salsa, and drinks, but I have had better tacos and I didn't care for the regular guac. During happy hour tacos are a dollar off so while they might not be the best tacos I've ever had you can still fill up for a decent price. Also nice that you can build your tacos just the way you like. You can choose from various meets, sauces, cheeses, etc. This place is usually busy and a lot of people love it, and maybe you might too, I just think it's a bit overhyped. I try to give places benefit of the doubt when they are super busy, but this place just was subpar. The hostess was not friendly, and was more interested in talking to staff and sit on their phone. We were sat within 30 minutes which was nice. The waiter was okay, nothing stood out in terms of services (but I also understand they were super busy and it was getting late). Our food did take a little long, but I figured that was going to happen (after we got our food, the table next to us was told it would be an hour for food). My food was super cold.
