I had a Living Social coupon so I stopped by for bagels. The bagels are smaller than some of the other bagel places in town for about the same price. The flavors are typical of most bagels places with a couple of their own signature flavors. Flavors were pretty good. Their cream cheese is sold by the pound. It doesn't come prepackaged. The server dishes it out into a container. I didn't see my server weigh the container. She just eyeballed it. I might have got less or more than what I ordered. If you are going to sell cream cheese by the pound, it should be weighed. The flavors we choose were good though. There were a lot of veggies in the veggie cream cheese. There is no bagel slicer. The servers have to slice each bagel by hand. I had a large order and I needed them all sliced. Not only did I have to wait longer to have my bagels hand sliced, most of the bagels were not sliced evenly or were not sliced all the way through. I don't blame the server. She is probably trying to rush through so she can complete my order and get to the next person. Would I go back? Probably only with a coupon. The bagels and cream cheese were not bad. NY bagels in the middle of OH? Can't be. It is. I went here two mornings in a row on a work trip. Other than the interesting way they make your eggs for an egg sandwich (crack egg in plastic container,nuke it), I will tell you the bagels are pretty darn good...and I live in S FL and from NY. I even brought a bagel home which my wife tried and she even commented they were good. Coffee needs some help. 2nd day the coffee was lukewarm. This location is nestled in a large-ish Plaza on Frantz Road. I can't comment on the parking or the in-store experience, because I ordered delivery. I ordered a BLT spinach wrap, a turkey sandwich on potato bread, and a bacon egg and cheese eggle. First, they use quality ingredients. I mean, everything was fresh, the turkey was great, they use thick slices of bacon, and you can tell that they love what they do. It was packaged neatly, and my order was mostly correct. My only issue was how it is listed on the GrubHub app. It was difficult to order and because of that, my BLT only had bacon,. I'm not sure whyBut I feel like it was somehow my fault. These bagels are BOMB! Seriously. I went to this location once last year to redeem a Groupon that gave me an impressive amount of bagels and cream cheese for quite a deal. I remember thinking it was pretty good. Recently, my job has ordered twice and I honestly think its the BEST bagel and cream cheese that I have ever had in my life. We also place large orders and they always seem to get it right. I order the pumpernickel bagel, toasted, with lite vegetable cream cheese. The bagel has caraway seeds and is large and perfectly soft. The cream cheese is quite a star--huge chunks of broccoli, carrots, celery. If this cream cheese is actually lite in calories or fat, I would be shocked because the flavor is so strong and delicious! Bagels are small, likely a proper serving. If made into a sandwich, they're pretty good. Worst experience ever today, 9/15. Ordered hot corned beef sandwich. The female employee serving me was beyond rude. She made it very plain that I was inconveniencing her. No attention was given to assembling my sandwich and she slapped it into a to go tray without cutting it. I indicated it was to eat in and she took it out of to go box and abruptly put it in a tray. I asked if she would cut it for me which she obviously resented. My husband ordered a bagel with cream cheese and butter and requested that she apply those toppings to each side of the bagel. The bagels were decent quality, and the coffee was good, but three things irked me: 1) "Toasting" a bagel for about 15 seconds so that it hasn't browned or even become crunchy. 2) Workers getting in each others' way and throwing away stuff they were working with (wax paper, utensils, etc) if they moved away for a moment. 3) Putting all of the bagels into bags without wrapping them in the wax paper AFTER PREPARING THEM ON THE PAPER. Usually go every Saturday to pick up lunch for my Dad and I. Haven't been in a couple of weeks. As soon as I walked in the vibe struck me as different; not the usual good upbeat vibe. Talking with the employees I came to find out a new manager or owner was in charge. Now charging $3.11 for a bottle of Coke. Thee tips in the tip jar doesn't even go to the employees anymore. Reorganized the condiment station and now everything is thrown together instead of being organized. I was so bummed. Could always count on good food but it was lacking as well. The food is very good at this restaurant. The reason for the 1 star review is that they cannot be consistently open at the same time as posted. This makes it difficult to have breakfast before work if you get there and they are not open. I stopped here on a whim as I had to visit FedEx/Kinko's. Laughably small bagels and portions. I ordered the "Lox & Cream Cheese"...the employee didn't even know salmon goes on the bagel. I want to preface this by saying I completely understand the staffing shortage and was a former local cafe worker so understand the work and the behind the scenes of a business like yours. The bagels were good-- not $25 good but fine. this is not at all a critique of the bagels. But the customer experience. I emailed them first, before publicly sharing my experience and basically got a "tough luck" response so here I am trying to save other customers money and frustration. I don't typically complain about things, but if I was the owner, I would want to know about this. The first thing I wanted to say, is it took me 40 minutes to get a dozen bagels and a pound of cream cheese. There were no more than 5 customers in front of me when I arrived and I came at a slow time. There were two employees working. To me, it shouldn't take more than 5 minutes a customer, per employee. This means that it shouldn't have taken more than 15 minutes or so to get through the line. I wouldn't be leaving a review if it was just the wait... I am a patient person and completely understand staffing issues, such as the shortage or new employees who may not be up to speed. It was the demeanor and attitude of the employees that upset me. First off-- the entire time, the female employee was rude to costumers for no reason. She would say "what do you want" in a rude tone when asking what people wanted. She didn't say Hi back to people or engage in any sort of conversation. Instead, she spent her time complaining about the company to her other co-worker, and badmouthing the owner. That is what I have an issue with-- the last thing I want to hear as a paying customer is how much you hate your job and boss. Especially for 40 minutes straight. There's a time and a place to complain about your job-- we all do it. But not in front of customers. I just dropped $25 on a dozen bagels and a pound of cream cheese (not a cheap price-- but a price I'm willing to pay for good quality). The last thing I want to hear about is how much you hate your job and the owner and how you can "find a better job somewhere else". The last thing I wanted to mention is there was no sense of urgency to complete orders. When I say she was working as slow as possible, I mean I felt like I was at the BMV. There was no multitasking-- she should have been taking the next order while waiting for other bagels to toast. Maybe it was her nasty attitude slowing her down. As a former cafe employee, here's a few things that could help speed up the line is to just prep... make sure everything's stocked. Prep cream cheese containers in advance. There was no reason for her to continuously go to the back for a few minutes at a time to restock basic items like lids and containers. They should already be stocked, and stock should be managed so you bring something up that you're low on when you're slow. Multi tasking helps a lot-- taking orders while a bagel is toasting is a basic thing you can do to speed up the line. Overall, it will probably be a long time, if ever before I visit Barry Bagels of Dublin again. This visit put a bitter taste in my mouth. read more

Used to come here so often they knew my name and the sandwich I wanted before I asked. Then the manager left after ownership changed hands. These are things a customer shouldn't know unless things improve. Started with the sign on the door saying they have reduced their hours. Next it's iceberg lettuce instead of the nice kind and the turkey is wet and less appealing. The pickle on the side was like the kind that McDonald's puts on a hamburger because they were out of those too. Then you just notice nothing is the same and it's all gone down hill. Even the iced tea smells foul. One employee loves to offer info about strange stuff and was so proud of their new lighting by the drink area. I thought it just made the place look dirty. My Barry's Bagels experience was... interesting.... I stopped by for a quick breakfast sandwich, and quick they are. They had my order ready in under 3-5 minutes. Although my only qualm was that the guy taking my order needed to speak up, as I couldn't hear ANY of the questions he asked me. I had to ask him to repeat multiple times, and I'm not deaf, or even old enough to think about hearing loss. It was just awkward.... "What? You said what kind of cheese? Oh, yes, it's a to-go order." The acoustics in this place really do not help. How they make their breakfast sandwiches is almost fascinating, but slightly concerning. They break up an egg in a small plastic container, whisk it a bit, then microwave it, add cheese, microwave again, then dump cheesy egg goodness into soft toasted bagel. I'm a little concerned about the plastic thing, and what types of chemicals are being leached into the food, but I guess that's for some other hippie soap-box later. I thought it was kind of odd that they didn't ask if I wanted any veggie toppings... I gladly would have added some tomato, or spinach to my "Eggel" breakfast sandwich, but I don't know... maybe that costs extra(?) The sandwich was A-OK and filled me up. BTW- The cookies here are really amazing. I had to abstain, but my favorite is the M&M cookie. They're usually so rich you can't even finish them in one sitting. They have so many other ones, too that are just drool worthy. Prices here are pretty average. I don't feel like I was being raked over the coals by any means. If you'd like a quick alternative to hitting McDonalds then this is your place! Teetering between A-OK and above average. It's not life changing, though. read more

A surprising gem that I have been seeking! There used to be a hole-in-the-wall place in Athens that served some of the best bagel sandwiches that I can remember. This food here reminds me very much of that wonderful place. The prices are moderate, but the bagels are very LARGEEEE! For the price, I think it is a solid deal. I grew up in Toledo, and Barry's was a mainstay at our house. Barry was an incredibly nice guy, (RIP) and I'm thrilled his kids have expanded their business. I compare every bagel to Barry's, and they always fall short. Especially in the Bay Area. On my recent trip to Columbus I was SO excited a Barry's had opened ! Much better parking than when they had a store on campus. It's too bad that store closed, but parking to run in for bagels was a pain. I grew up with Barry Bagels when I was a kid in Toledo, Ohio. Their bagels are always fresh and tasty. I also love their matzah ball soup! I can't help but get 1-2 dozen bagels each time I visit. They usually carry Biggby coffee which is another staple from Toledo! This location is pretty new and a little off the beaten path from the typical Tuttle Mall traffic. I want to stay committed to this place because I prefer the bagels and spread are great (much preferred over Panera), but the service can be unpredictable in the morning business rush. At times they'll be 6 people working (4 of which aren't helping customers or ringing up at the register). And other times there's been 1 employee taking orders and ringing out. Have been to Barry Bagels several times, after visiting this morning decided to write a review...ordered a dozen bagels(13, they give you the baker's dozen)....mixed up my choices going with asiago, spinach, vanilla/cinnamon, everything and sesame seed.....immediately i noticed the everything bagel and the sesame seed bagel were about 1/3 bigger bagels that the others I have ordered...not sure why, guessing they are made differently or perhaps not made on-site at barry's(perhaps frozen)....anyway, ordered 2 smears, vanilla/cinnamon and a scallion smear.....total about $14.95.....got home immediately and toasted up bagels with sausage that I prepared and made a breakfast sandwich which was killer!! Recommend both the asiago and the spinach with the scallion smear.....the vanilla/cinnamon paired nicely with the smear if you are more into sweet than savory.....always good having bagels in the house, they pair nicely with turkey, ham, avocado or anything that you stick between 2 slices of bread....as for Barry's, i would consider it a good place to visit, always like to support local business, I wouldn't say it is my favorite or go to breakfast place, but overall the experience was good....i will add that I did see a worker while I was in line rolling her eyes at a customer while she was making her breakfast choice....my personal customer service was good, so I'm not gonna dis on the help....anyway try Barry's for a breakfast sandwich or their bagels, overall they have a decent product at affordable prices.... read more

The bagels and coffee are OK, but the service is horrendous. I get ignored either when I'm trying to order or when I'm trying to pay almost every time. I have had to leave with no food on several occasions because there was nobody helping me even though there's typically only about one other customer. I only go back after being ignored because it's on the way to work and I think maybe the people working the next time will be better. I can only imagine it is a lack of training and management because it's not always the same staff each time. I've never experienced anything like it. read more
