I had known about Jamba's National Acai Day promo for the prior three or so days, so I had kept it in the back of my mind to visit a Jamba after work to take advantage of their National Acai Day promo. What was their promo? $3 small acai smoothie or a $5 acai bowl from 3 to 7 PM, in store only. A small acai smoothie is normally $9 while a regular acai bowl is normally $14. Both good deals, but I would have preferred the acai bowl since for $2 more, I'd also get some additional toppings on top of the acai itself. There's a Jamba closer to me, but this location was kind of intriguing to me because of how small the parking lot is. They're located on the northwest corner of Bellflower and Willow, sharing walls with both Subway and Matrix Smoke Shop. No other businesses are located here, but the lot is small enough that if each employee brought their car here, I don't think there would be any parking available for paying customers! So be forewarned you may have to park in the neighborhood if you want to visit any of these three businesses. Anyways, I came in shortly before 6 PM, and I was quite astonished at how large and spacious this Jamba was in comparison to the locations in Lakewood and Cerritos, where parking is more plentiful. The employees seemed quite busy at preparing orders for a party of 4 or 5 that was already inside the shop upon my arrival. But it didn't take long for Marina (sp?) to assist me. And Marina was all smiles. After my case of the Mondays kind of Monday, plus some low expectations for Jamba in general, she really did what she could to brighten up my day. I had told her I was here for the National Acai Day promo, but I wasn't familiar with what acai bowls they offered. After I asked her, she mentioned the Acai Primo and the Acai Peanut Butter and Nutella. The Primo has a much more eclectic variety of fruits than the Peanut Butter and Nutella, which I wasn't sure would hold up well in the fridge overnight. It's just banana for the PB & Nutella, but the Primo would have both strawberries and blueberries as well. Marina was very helpful, even reciting each and every ingredient for each of the two bowls. My mind was not firing on cylinders that day. More like sputtering on both hemispheres that the only ingredient I remembered at the time was blueberries, and I simply told her I'd pick the one with blueberries lol. I also asked her if that particular bowl could hold up well in the fridge the next day, and she believed it could. Then, she asked me if I wanted a regular or a large. The email simply told me $5 for an acai bowl, and I was assuming it would be for a regular, so I had to ask how much for a large? It was only $2 more. I then asked how much larger the large was, and she pointed towards the example bowls on the other side of the front counter. A large is normally $17, so it'd make for even more savings than both the small smoothie and the regular bowl. It was hard for me to tell if the large was 40% larger than the regular, but I figured I'd go with the large knowing that I could save the leftovers for the next day as well as $10. Marina also asked if I had a rewards account, and I did, though since I barely go to Jamba these days, I almost forgot how to get to my QR code lol. She instructed me on the buttons to tap, and I got my points just like that. Really appreciate how helpful she was when I was struggling to remember how to navigate my way through the app lol. I asked Marina how long it'd take for them to prepare my bowl, and she estimated about 5 minutes. It was about 4 minutes before she called my name to let me know my order was ready. Initially, she only handed me a bowl and a spoon, but I wanted a bag since I was going to take it home to enjoy. No issues when I asked her for one; she placed my bowl and spoon in a Jamba bag, quite meticulously I must say, without any hesitation. The bowl was packed with so much that when I removed the lid, several blueberries and a piece of strawberry got stuck on the underside. The fruit as a whole tasted quite fresh; the acai flavor, on the other hand, was a little muted, but did its job of refreshing me after such a tough day of work. I came a second time to redeem a free small smoothie reward that wasn't redeemed properly at a different Long Beach location, and the female employee there was just as welcoming as well. I had the Acai Super-Antioxidant and enjoyed it so much that I may have found my new favorite flavor at Jamba! One of my Yelp friends said that was her favorite flavor too, a testament to how much I'd recommend it. Definitely two of the best juice shop employees I've encountered thus far that even though this location isn't closest to me, I may have to go out of my way to visit this location next time I'm craving Jamba. I think the employees are better trained here.

I was downtown Seal Beach with one of my kids yesterday, and we both decided to get some ice cream…read more I saw the prices and I thought it was about a dollar or so more than normal but it didn't matter, we wanted ice cream. My kid ordered the kids small cup and when they gave it to her, I thought they mistakenly gave her an adult large. Then when I ordered my small waffle cone the amount of ice cream they gave me blew my mind. It was absolutely enormous. Check my picture out, this was after eating it for 10 minutes. Look how much is still there! When we got our ice cream, the other people in line looked over at us and asked me is that an adult portion when they saw my daughter's kids small ice cream. To my reply: "No, that's a child's small!" I was even afraid to ask what the large cone looks like and I made a joke that I'd have to duck under the doorway to get my ice cream out of the shop. I then joked and looked up on the ceiling to see if there's any ice cream scrapings from the previous person's that ordered a large cone because it was so high. I highly recommend the place, it's worth the money, you won't be let down. The quality is excellent and they have many flavors.

I was in the area and wanted to stop by 2nd and PCH to see how things changed since the last time I was there. I was originally planning to go to the Traffic Circle location, but suddenly remembered there was this location on the other side of PCH. I'm a part of Nekter's rewards program, and I got an email saying that my points would have expired real soon. I had just enough points to redeem a $3 small smoothie. The small smoothie is 16 oz, and if I wanted to get it for free, I would have had to spend just as many dollars plus twice as many cents to do so. I'm not going to do that just for $3 savings, so I chose to get my $3 smoothie here. When I arrived on Friday after lunch, there were a couple of girls in line, who were having quite the conversation with the cashier. Luckily, I didn't have to wait that long, and it did give me additional time to decide which smoothie I wanted. When it was my turn to order, the cashier greeted me, and I asked if there was any smoothie that I couldn't get using my reward. She simply mentioned that as long as it was offered in the "Small" size, it would work. I asked about Coffee Kickstart since it was early afternoon, a time when I start to feel drowsy and need that extra kick of caffeine to get me through the day. At first, the cashier said she'd only recommend it for the flavor, and then I was trying to look for other options that would give me that boost I needed. She eventually said that the Coffee Kickstart would be a good choice for that, and so I chose the Coffee Kickstart. Understandably, they did not have the Aloha Smoothie on their menu, but I'm sure if I asked, they would have been as confused as you are if you are still reading this review. She then asked me if I wanted whey or pea protein. Whey is a dairy base, but pea is vegan. As much as I love saying "no way!", I had to say "yes way" to whey lol. It took a few minutes for her to prepare my drink with a glove in one hand, but not the other. After I got my drink, I grabbed a straw from the pickup counter and headed back to my car. While the Coffee Kickstart did give me that boost to get me through the rest of that afternoon, I was disappointed that it didn't have the consistency of a smoothie until I reached the bottom half of the cup. The first half was pretty watered down, and it felt like I was drinking a regular iced coffee. However, it tasted more like a smoothie afterwards, but too little too late I guess. I had just finished the smoothie by the time I got back home. Was the smoothie bad? No, but it's not something I would get again, even if I were looking for that extra caffeine kick. I probably should have gone with the Health Nut or the PB Mocha instead, but even so, with how watered down my drinks have been from here, who knows how watery those other protein smoothies would be? My experience here was definitely better than 1 star, so I'll give 1 more star to my original rating, but that's it, unfortunately. I was originally planning to redeem that offer at this location, which is closest to me, but when I was about to check out, the cashier mentioned that this isn't a participating location for their rewards program. I had no choice but to leave the cookies at the counter and redeem the offer at the nearby Cerritos location. With that in mind, I legitimately didn't think I'd have any reason or rhyme to even make a purchase at this location, which is inside the Lakewood H Mart. However, I was getting hangry, and I still had a few errands to run afterwards. While I was making my way around the store and towards the checkout, I wanted to stop by to see what goodies they had in their display case. First and foremost, in spite of its close proximity to the Cerritos location, don't get these two locations confused. The Cerritos location is a standalone location that participates in the rewards program, but this Lakewood location is significantly smaller. Apart from the front counter where you pay for your purchases, there's only one counter with a display case on that counter and some other baked goods on either side of that display case, and that's pretty much the whole store. Did I also mention that you have to pay at their front counter? Yeah, don't take a pastry and pay at an H Mart checkout lane; that's not going to work. I will admit, however, I was a little afraid that the H Mart cashier would ask me to scan an already purchased TLJ bakery item, but the TLJ paper bag I was given was an immediate tell that I had already paid for my baked good. What baked good did I get? The Yuzu Pie, and the only reason I ordered it was because it was the last one left in their display case. It came in at a hefty 420 calories for 13 quarters, and it was quite a large pastry that it wasn't a surprise there was only one left when I visited on a Saturday early afternoon. I grabbed their last Yuzu Pie and headed towards the front counter, initially with my shopping cart, but since there wasn't much room between their two counters, I just left my cart in front of the display case while I paid for the Yuzu Pie. As I was paying, I asked the cashier (Sarah?) how long a baked good like the Yuzu Pie would last either in the fridge or on the counter. She simply replied that the pastries should be eaten the day of purchase and that if you're not going to eat it that day, put it in the fridge. Okay, but that didn't quite answer my question of how long exactly. I didn't want to counter with another question since I was already planning on eating it right after leaving the store. However, it would have been good to know if, for example, it would have held up well for a good treat the next day or even the day after that. Anyways, Sarah placed the Yuzu Pie and my receipt in a TLJ paper bag to signify my having purchased the baked good. And after paying for my H Mart groceries just a few minutes later, I went outside to enjoy my sweet treat. The Yuzu Pie came wrapped just like most of their other pastries. I didn't actually take note of which pastries come unwrapped, but I believe most, if not all, of the pastries at this location are wrapped. I don't really know what Yuzu tastes like, and after eating that pie, I still don't know what Yuzu tastes like. It wasn't a bad pie per se, but the flavor of the fruit didn't come out as strong as evidenced by the rather thin layer of filling inside the handheld pie. I did like how the pie was pretty flakey similar to a croissant, but it was mostly hollow inside. While I appreciate how this made the pastry not as dense, I felt they could have added more filling inside the pie so I could have enjoyed it better. At least the price point was reasonable for this pastry, whose size I'd say was somewhat comparable to that of a Hot Pocket or a burrito. I can see Paris Baguette selling a similar pastry, but for a dollar more, which I think would be a bit much, especially if they were to skimp on the flavor and filling as well. Overall, not a bad shop to go to that if you've spent a great deal of time shopping inside H Mart, it would make for a decent spot to treat yourself to a nice treat. However, like I said, you can't earn rewards points with purchases from this location, so I probably won't make another purchase here unless I get hangry again while shopping inside H Mart.
