Battello is located in Jersey City and has an excellent view of NYC. I work in the area and I usually come here to have a few drinks afterwork. It's a beautiful spot to watch the sunset and enjoy the view of NYC and the Hudson River. They don't have a happy hour special, but I personally feel as though the drink prices are affordable. They have a nice restaurant seating arrangement as well as bar space. This place is spacious. They also have a band playing on Friday nights. A friend and I tried their seafood clams this time around and it was so delicious. The bartenders were so nice and very engaged with their customers. It's nice to see things becoming somewhat normal again. Also wanted to stresses that if you are coming by train, then take the PATH to NewPort and walk like 5 minutes or less towards the water. They also have ballet parking in case of you are driving, I'm definitely planning on visiting in the future and maybe visit on Sunday and have brunch. read more

Battello is a fine dine experience. I went to celebrate my graduation with my friends there. It's a-lovely place with kind staff. A good romantic date night spot too. They have good wine selection. The portion size is a little smaller than other places but the i really loved the taste and the ambience here. The burrata here is fab. Desserts are quite limited and not worth the money but the food here was very tasty specially the gnocchi. read more

I've been to Battello four times, most recently I visited for Valentine's Day. There was a prix fixe menu which I was nervous about because restaurant quality is usually diminished on major holidays but to my pleasant surprise that was not the case! Each course was delectable (the risotto was my favorite and I hope it becomes a main menu item). The waiters are always gracious and sometimes they have live music which adds to the romantic vibe of this place. Great for date night or a nice group outing. read more

Always walked by this spot in Newport and was worried it would be overrated since it's right on the water and it was pleasantly surprised! The service is nice and friendly and the view is spectacular. Even the interior decor is really nice inside. For drinks, I got my favorite beer: Allagash White. For food, my friends and I got the octopus appetizer, the ricotta gnocchi, the semolina cavatappi, and the cacio e Pepe. Everything was absolutely delicious and I understand why the gnocchi is their signature dish, it's so soft! We got the peach cobbler cheesecake for dessert and it was delicious too. Not sure why more people aren't coming here for lunch! Stopped in on a Monday and it was super quiet. Only one other seated table when we arrived and four tables when we left. It's nearly impossible to get a weekend reservation, so lunchtime during the week seems to be the perfect time to sneak in. The restaurant is of course gorgeous. Big beautiful windows with views of NYC in the back room. There's also an extremely large room with industrial vibes and lots of room to spread out. The lunch menu is a smaller set of the dinner offering. The lobster roll is mixed with fresh herbs and packed into a toasted bun. You can truly taste the quality lobster since it's not overly buttery or covered in sauce like other spots. The carrot risotto was also delicious - creamy and savory rice covered in roasted carrots. Came here for a date night and we were so lucky to have gotten a table by the bar! It was the perfect area to sit because we also were able to see the live music. They are so talented and it definitely helped set the mood for a romantic and fun evening. Parking was easy too. There was a parking lot and a staff member to assist with locating a spot for the car. Inside decor is beautiful with the lights and I love how it's by the water. For drinks, I got the Perfect Pear with St. Germaine. It was delicious, light, refreshing, and all the flavors went well together! I am glad I got this drink and would definitely order it again. I liked my partner's food more. He got the fennel crusted pork chops. It was nice and sliced off-bone. Very soft and the flavors went well together with the potatoes. I got the short rib triangoli, which was ok. I liked the squash flavor that went with it but it was not as wowing as his dish! We stayed a little longer to listen to the live music and that was a great end to our Friday night! This restaurant probably has the best view in Jersey City! I would say during the day the crowd is young and evening time has a more mature crowd. The tuna tartare is very good! So is the octopus! Dinner food was delicious - bread was not complimentary, but the truffle butter made it worth purchasing; my ricotta gnocchi was especially well seasoned and the portion size was larger than I expected (but not too big because I finished the whole thing). There were so many choices, I went with the Day Boat Sea Scallops special since I normally don't prepare this meal at home. The scallops were fantastic, but the herb puree was incredible! The roasted carrots and sunflower seed & quinoa salad pairing added to the fantastic meal! We ordered chopped kale insalata, the Battello cheese plate, and homemade foccacia for appetizers. The foccacia (truffle-honey butter) was amazing, and the kale was surprisingly delicious! The place is perfect for a nice dinner out, especially in the Summer! I wish I could give 10 stars. My best friend had her wedding here this past weekend and it was nothing short of amazing. From the staff to the service to all of the accommodations - everything was perfection. Having been a part of the bridal party, I want to give a special shout-out to Tammy who made sure the bride and all the bridesmaids had everything they needed. She had drinks and snacks ready to go and even made sure the room was stocked with bobby pins, fashion tape, bandaids, hair ties, legit anything that we would need. The waiter was nice but we learned about the specials by over hearing them at the next table after we were almost done Octopus dish- is it a salad or is it supposed to be hot? It was half and half and overall disappointing. This is not the same octopus fish I remembered. Duck breast- this was delicious - even though it was Luke warm. Luke warm food is not good- especially at these prices. The wine and cocktail was good and the view was amazing. But why dont walk-in tables ha e heat lamps?! Battello is a great spot if you're looking for a place that checks all of the boxes: great drinks, delicious food, and nice ambiance. This is an ideal spot for a date night or girls' night out, and I can certainly see why it's become a very popular wedding venue. Despite living in Jersey City for three years, tonight was the first time that my husband and I dined at Battello. We've tried to get a reservation a handful of times in the past, only to find that they are almost always closed for a private event (usually a wedding). So, random Tuesday night it is! We decided to split a few appetizers and entrees in order to maximize our experience. We ordered the Octopus and Focaccia bread to start with, both of which were delicious - the butter that came with the bread literally melted in our mouths. We then split an order of the Braised Veal & Pecorino Ravioli and the Sea Bass. Both were absolutely delicious! The Ravioli was an "appetizer" size with the option to upgrade to an entree size, but we felt it was enough food and a great way to explore the menu. The only negative is that this place is super busy and seems to have a difficult time managing reservations - we had a 7:30 reservation but they couldn't seat us until after 8pm. Not really an issue for us, but may be something to consider if you're on a tight timeline with after-dinner plans. I would definitely come back for another date night! read more

This is a very beautiful restaurant right at the waterfront of Jersey City. If you are on a date, meet friends or just want to have a lovely meal catching up, this is the place. I came here for brunch and even though I am a vegetarian I was able to find the avocado toast. Other dishes can have without the prosciutto to accommodate vegetarians. I had the avocado toast and it was satisfying. I also had the cornbread and though it was OK I do believe that two small pieces of cornbread for $10 is a little excessive. Brunch for two with one round of drinks, hot drinks and above mentioned corn bread plus tax came out over $90. It is a trendy place for a good occasion. read more

Food...amazing. Service as a black family of 4?? We arrive on time for our 7:30 reservation. The hostess offered to upgrade our table to one with a view (we didn't ask for this but were excited) we just had to wait for the people at the table who were finishing desert. Great. 7:45pm...8:00pm...8:15pm rolls by and after going back up to the hostess she tells us she doesn't know when they are going to leave even though they've already paid. Were offered a table in the corner of the restaurant. No problem but if we were gonna sit there anyway i'd rather not have waited 40 minutes. After this we finally sit and get a waiter. Try to put in our appetizers and the waiter says we have to order all the food together...? I've never been to a restaurant where you can't order appetizers while you decide on the rest of the menu. And clearly they weren't in a rush given they didn't rush the other table we were offered who had paid and sat and chatted for another 20 minutes post paying. The food like I said was great. The waiter was kind but seemed like he didn't want to be there. The worst part imo is that the hostess did nothing to rectify the fact or even acknowledge that we waited an extra 40 minutes to eat because she promised us and upgrade that was not delivered. The view, ambiance, and live music are incredible! The food was just ok. I was hoping for so much more. We were part of a large group so we had a menu selected for us. The waitress said it was an issue to order off the regular menu because it was two different kitchens. The restaurant was not full and we could not understand the difference if we just pulled our table away from the group and got our own bill. The server was nice but it was incredibly slow. I had a lovely dinner at Battello for my birthday. The service was great and we had a really nice view of Manhattan at sunset. We ordered the focaccia and cheese plate to start and both were absolutely delicious. I also ordered the chicken as my entree and I highly recommend it. Trust me, it's not what you'd expect! One thing to keep in mind about Battello is that it's located at the end of a pier. We took a ride share to and from the restaurant and on both occasions the driver missed the turn. It's probably best to set your location to a nearby street or intersection if you plan on using a similar service. If I had one wish for the restaurant, it would be that they expand the cocktail and dessert menus. I would've loved a bit more variety, especially in the spirit selection. read more

We took a day trip to Jersey City to grab brunch to round out a birthday weekend. We arrived for our 11am reservation about 10 minutes early, we were greeted immediately and told the restaurant wasn't open and we were guided to a few seating areas. I ran to the restroom, which was very clean and smelled as fresh as a restroom can. (Good considering they weren't open yet)... When I returned from the restroom we were seated immediately, the view from our table was, of course, spectacular. The restaurant is well decorated and clean. The wait staff seemed to work great as a team, one server offered us water, another took our order, a food runner brought everything out, our waiter and another server cleared dishes, yet another young lady brought us the dessert menu, and 'our' waiter took care of that order along with the check. I have no idea the names of any of them, but super friendly and very well coordinated. As for the food, she got the crab cake and said it made her Top5 best crab cakes. I had the eggs benedict, which I get often for breakfast and this, although VERY good, did not make my Top5. The eggs were poached perfectly, the siaracha hollandaise was flavorful but I was hoping for more spice, and the prosciutto was tasty, but it needed more of it and then it probably hits Top5 for me. We ordered the donut dessert to go, we peeked in the bag and were a bit disappointed to see that for $14 we got two donuts and two donut holes, plus two dipping sauces, I only.hope the flavors are amazing once we can try them! Overall, we agreed we would be back, just know this place is a bit more upscale casual, we didn't see a dress code requirement, but other customers definitely seemed to be wearing "business casual". Brunching at Battello on a perfect summer afternoon was like being on a date with Idris Elba. Or Halle Berry. I was so dazzled by the extraordinary beauty in front of me (the panoramic patio), that I'm not entirely sure if I liked the food or service. I was kind of just...entranced. Stopped in for lunch while in town for a cousins wedding and was pleasantly surprised by the modern industrial atmosphere and GLORIOUS views of downtown Manhattan! I would come here for the views and service alone! The food was excellent, I ordered the Italiano sandwich. A delightful blend of garlic aioli, prosciutto and chicken fillet and the Parmesan fries were amazing. My husband had the gnocchi and I can't rave enough about biting into these tasty little clouds of deliciousness! I splurged and ordered the Anchors Away and absolutely loved the fresh flavors of this tequila drink. The chef and the bartender are truly talented! What an amazing experience!!! So many things to compliment. The astounding view, the service and the delicious food. We were seated right by the water and were treated to the skyline views the entire time. We asked our waiter about the different entree sizes and was pleasantly surprised when he explained to us the food traditions of Northern Italy and how they break their meals into many sections making us feel like this was an authentic experience. For appetizer, we got the focaccia bread with honey butter and the cheese board. Focaccia was freshly made, fluffy and chewy and the cheese board came with a card explaining each type of cheese. It came with perfect and varied accompaniments of apples, apple compote/jam, honey, honey almonds and toast points. No matter what combination I put together, it was all amazing. For entree, we got the seafood squid ink pasta (it had crab and octopus) and the lamb ravioli. We got the smaller portions that were very filling and flavorful. Pasta was cooked al dente, making for great textures with the sauce. I was here for my birthday dinner so when they brought dessert out, it was with a candle and happy birthday written in chocolate on the plate. We got the peach cobbler cheesecake by the way and it was delicious- made with mascarpone so slightly less sweet!! All in all, the service really made the meal, our waiter- I think Roger?- made us feel very comfortable, answered all our questions and anticipated our requests and was very personable. OVERPRICED, SLOW SERVICE, HORRIBLE FOOD I came here last Thursday for a work dinner and I am more than certain that I got food poisoning from eating at this place! In all seriousness, I have been here once before on a previous work dinner and each time the food and service are beyond subpar. The restaurant has such beautiful views however I would never return to this place even if I was given 1 billion dollars... The waiter convinced over half my colleagues to get the pasta special and this pasta was the driest, unflavored and distasteful pasta I have ever had in all my existence. Not only did we get multiple appetizers which were just OK but the charcuterie board was a joke. The only good thing this place had to offer was the water, Sauvignon blanc, and just maybe the desserts (but that's pushing it). I had bites of some of the appetizers and 3 spoons of my pasta and somehow manage to get SO sick 2 days after eating here. I would not recommend this place to anyone unless you are looking to just get drinks here... The view was not worth getting food poisoning either since you can have this same view for free a few steps away from this restaurant. 0/5 rating. read more
