I've been going to Bay Breeze since moving into the neighborhood back in 2012 and I continue to walk the few extra blocks after moving to Russian Hill to keep bringing my clothes here. Always reliable, always my clothes come back perfectly pressed with no odors. He's been able to send out my suede items to a leather professional cleaner for a much more affordable rate than other leather cleaners. I've trusted him with several very expensive, designer, irreplaceable items and have never had an issue. The owner is very friendly and he remembers who you are; we sometimes have walked down the same streets together when running into each other outside of his business. The last few years have been tough for his business, not just with the pandemic but with his wife passing. He has had to shut down his other location, change his business hours, raise prices and he no longer offers alterations, but I would never complain with understanding how difficult it is to run a small business solo in the city. It's worth every penny to me to keep him in our community! My average drop-off every 3-4 months ranges from $170-250, usually for about 20-30 items or depending on complexity. Epic disappointment. With other glowing comments related to wedding gowns, I thought they could handle a plain ol dress shirt and stained silk. The shirt: - stains that hadn't been existed were now on the side, which I didn't notice until I got home because all my pieces were covered in one bag - wasn't properly ironed. IT WASN'T PROPERLY IRONED! The shirt pockets were a wrinkly mess, the sleeves had awkward creases- I mean, are you kidding me? Part of the reason I paid $2.50 for a wash (not dry clean) was for the ironing. The silk dress: - huge fail. Stains were not removed. He said he tried but could try again or just give me a discount. I hate having my time wasted- didn't you say you did all you could the first time?- so I just took the 20% discount, which is not nearly enough of a discount. That's like the early bird discount, not an appropriate discount for failing to do your job. I've hand washed bigger silk stains than that. And it looks like I will have to. And Ray was not friendly. Thankfully there are three other dry cleaning establishments in a three block radius. read more

This business is unethical, tried to charge me and my friend an extra fee to use my credit card. I looked into this and this is illegal practice. He is overcharging when using a credit card. Secondly, he refused to iron my new shirt. I literally was taking it out the package at the desk. He told me, "it might have Covid." Can't blv my first comment on Yelp is like this. This is the most fucked up dry cleaning experience I ve had in San Francisco. Worst cleaning turning out, my sweater gets more hair-slip and pilling than before and they said they need to CHARGE ME MORE and I need to give them more time to get rid of them. I mean wtf??!!! If you can't clean it what's the necessities for me to get my clothes dry cleaning? And for my over $800 pant, they put three pins inside to Make the holes and hang it, ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME??? I came in with a heavily red wine stained jacket with little hope of them being able to do anything, and they ended up cleaning it fully that same day for my work party that evening. My girlfriend and I had a bit of a laundry snafu - lipstick left in a pocket, then through the washer and dryer - oh no! Bay Breeze was very reasonably priced - about about $7 - $8 an item (not bad for heavily stained clothing). Turnaround time was great - we got our clothes back within the week. One thing we were extremely impressed with - girlfriend's white cardigan was stuck in a load of dark laundry (with the lipstick) and came out extremely stained - dark splotches of lipstick and other colors everywhere. We were pretty sure we had to throw it away (especially since it already gone through the dryer and heat sets stains), but decided to see what Bay Breeze could do. The owner gave it a look and said he'd do his best but was honest and said it was possible it was too far gone. We went back a few days later and lo and behold, he was able to get ALL the stains out! I have to agree with Jillian. I've been going here for about 3 years now because Cable Car Cleaners is too expensive and their quality isn't that good. Plus, they actually have you in their computer and have announced to me on more than one occasion how much money they have made on me in my lifetime - no joke. So, off to try something new, and Bay Breeze Cleaners fits the bill. The owner is very friendly, does his own work (I think he works 12 hours a day 6 days a week) and does a great job. Surprisingly this is one of the only dry cleaners in the area that goes green wet cleaning. Ray, the owner, is awesome and very hardworking. I took some clothes there for cleaning, when I went to picked them up clothes were as dirty as when I took them in, I asked the attendant to give me a discount but he refused and tried to charge me 70 dollars for just steaming my clothes, the attendant argued with me that he wasted his time trying to clean my clothes and that that kind of stain was really hard to remove, I asked him why didn't you tell me this when I showed you the stains, he completely shut me off and has my clothes hostage until I pay. I took a shirt here that had crochet sleeves... another place had ripped it at the seam a couple months prior... when I picked it up at Bay Breeze after having it dry cleaned, I got it home and realized they'd fixed it no charge. I spent a few days in Napa, prior to checking in to the Holiday Inn. I went in Monday morning, I think around 10:30, and explained that I was leaving Wednesday, but needed some laundry sorta asap. I don't generally feel passionate about cleaners, but I am excited to give Bay Breeze Cleaners a rave review. I have been a customer for the last few years, and though I don't have cleaning done more than a handful of times a year, I am always happy with the pricing and the results. I have always felt that the owner (must be Ray) was very honest. He has pointed out cases where it would be best for the garment, not to have it cleaned (such as a multi-patterned suede skirt which may run when cleaned.). He also inspected a dress I found at a thrift store and came to the same conclusion I did... looked as good as new and didn't even need cleaning. What really inspired me to write a review today is that when I picked up my pea coat, a thrift store find which was missing a button, the owner had repaired it! He said he found a similarly sized button, which he swapped out with the perfectly matching button on the inside of my coat, so that all of the buttons matched perfectly on the outside. He had taken time out of his busy day to voluntarily replace my button and didn't ask for any reimbursement. Clearly this is an example of exemplary customer service. i think i might have expected too much from this place. from the reviews i had expected this place to be cheap/reasonable, fast, and awesome! i relied pretty heavily on yelp to find a place and bay breeze seemed like the perfect place. i came in and i presume it was the owner who was behind the counter. he was on the phone and i had to wait a bit before he turned his attention to me. he quoted me on the higher end for cleaning my wedding dress. and while i know services for wedding gowns can range depending on the intricacy, detailing, material or the gown i wasnt sure i had been ready to shell out almost $300 the other thing is how long this is taking. or maybe it was the missed expectation of it. he had told me one month. one month later i called him and it wasnt ready. he said he needed the box. i called him again a week or two later and now its another couple weeks. i guess he hasnt pressed it yet either. so im thinking he should have told me four months instead of one month. four months i can agree with the other reviews that he seems pretty honest. he alerted me that the marker that my seamstress had used on the inside of the dress could possibly ruin the dress and the he would have to be careful to test it so as to make sure it wont bleed all over the dress. that seemed like pretty honest feedback. he also said that the dress was not that badly stained or dirty. when i picked up the dress he told me that he spent a lot of time pressing the dress because it had so many layers and pleats. he also spent time letting me know how to store it etc. if you want your wedding dress cleaned with great care and attention, bring it here! read more

I stopped by to see if they can clean my wedding gown. I don't care that much, just get it cleaned, no preservations needed. They were very sweet and professional, however, they asked $250 for cleaning, the dress already cost so much more than I had planned and there's no way I am paying so much. Gonna keep looking. If I could give more than five stars I would! Ray is just the sweetest person to work with. I highly recommend this business for cleaning and preserving of your wedding gown. The price was lower than anywhere else I had tried and I completely trusted Ray to do a good job. All of the dirt that was at the bottom of the train was completely removed. There was even a small adornment falling off the bodice and he sewed it back on tightly for no extra fee. I recommend purchasing the $40 bust and box to store the dress in. Ray folds it nicely and places it in the box for you. When you go to pick up the dress after he calls you to let you knows it's done he will show you his work and make sure you are happy. read more

My second time here and I came to pick up my shirts and was informed that the price went up from $2.50 per shirt to $2.75 a shirt. I can't understand why I wasn't informed before leaving my shirts that the price had changed. Since they don't post any prices in the shop. When I checked online. What a shock--shirt on hangar is $2.00! I checked at 6:26 pm on 1/11/2017. So I was charged .75 cents more a shirt then the prices posted online! Wow. Rip off and very dishonest. Well, I'm certainly not asking him to--he doesn't need to tell the world, just the people that pay for his services. Or, how about a novel idea--post your prices. That smacks of discrimination. Is it even legal not to post or disclose prices? He then said he had to raise prices due to minimum wage going up. Hmmm. I said I understand but you have to tell people before they drop off clothing changes in prices (or indeed just the price). A 10% price increase is significant and bears repeating to your valued customers. Unless you don't value your customers. Have had my clothes cleaned here many times before, but most recently I had a great experience that made me decide they needed a good rating on Yelp. I brought in a coat and a blouse, and when I asked if they could have it done by the following evening the owner (?) said they could, even though they were clearly very, very busy. BUT--When I came to get my coat the next day, I saw that he had sewn a button on the coat where I had one missing! He then apologized that he couldn't find another button similar enough to replace the other one missing on the sleeve! And this was all free of charge. After such a long day, it's little things like that that just make you love caring business owners. He took the time to do this, although he was clearly swamped. THAT is real customer service. I have always been happy with everything that they cleaned for me, and I am now a loyal customer for as long as I live in the neighborhood.
