Came into bb.q chicken Anaheim with a couple friends after almost visiting house of Shabu shabu II, after this caught our eye in the same parking lot. When we came in, the restaurant was pretty empty but very clean and well air conditioned which is a must right now. We were sat quickly and were able to easily order on the iPad. We ordered the cheese balls, rose tteokbokki, and boneless soy garlic chicken (large). They pretty quickly brought a complimentary side salad to the table which was a crunchy and refreshing shredded cabbage with a thousand island like sauce similar to what you'd be served with Korean katsu. Our cheese balls came out next. We were expecting something a bit more savory, but to our surprise, they were quite sweet. It tasted almost like a donut, if you've had the Korean rice donuts filled with red bean or sweet cream cheese, these tasted like the latter, but with some sort of melting cheese like mozzarella also mixed in. While it wasn't what we were necessarily looking for, they were very tasty, but I don't think we'd get it with chicken again. I really like the tteokbokki here. They're heavy on the veggies like cabbage, which I actually enjoy about it. It holds the sauce in a way the rice cakes just don't. Their sauce is also lightly sweet and not too rich or spicy. It makes the dish go down a lot easier than other versions of it. The chicken came out last, and was impressive as expected. You may expect boneless chicken to be dry or flavorless, but bb.q chicken somehow manages to avoid all that while still achieving a satisfying crunch all while covered in sauce. Even their sauced chicken is somehow still crispy, which I think is owed mostly to their breading and frying methods, as well as the conservative amount of sauce they put on it (which we appreciate). I would definitely return to this location for Korean fried chicken. The Irvine one wall has also been reliable in my experience. The only location which has been consistently bad is the Fullerton location, whose ambiance, service, and food have been lackluster on the multiple occasions I've been there, which is surprising for a chain like this. My son is 12 so he eats A LOT ! He eats so much Korean food that when he was in kinder, the teacher asked him what culture or heritage are you and said I'm Korean. Later at pickup I had to explain to her, oh lol that's because his favorite food is bb.q chicken. We both laughed hard that day and of course I had a kinder version on identity and culture on the drive home. The ambiance at this location is L shaped, but the staff is super friendly, quick. I usually do pick up and expected time wait was accurate. Staff have been consistently friendly and welcoming. Chicken is consistent with other locations. It's flavorful and the breading has a good crunch to it. Rose ttoekbokki with cheese is good too but I prefer the one from Tustin location more. This location makes theirs a little too runny and less gochujang in my personal opinion. Again, still good though. I will say I probably got a bad batch of daikon because it tasted off. First of all, I want to say that I come here frequently, and always have a positive experience. But this time, I am only giving it 4 stars. Food was GREAT, however, 2 things: 1) I wanted to try the cheeslings cheeseballs. i was expecting it to be like cheese covered in breadcrumbs like mozarella sticks, but it was more like a donut hole filled with cheese. Had my niece and nephew in from out of town and wanted a quick bite. They love fried chicken so I needed to show them my fave! We happened to be in the area so we called in to the location to try to order ahead but eat in the restaurant. They said we couldn't do that. A little disappointing since we were in a time crunch but it was fine. On arrival, I was surprised to see how spacious it was compared to other locations. For dine in, we needed to order from a kiosk at the table. It was easy to do. The food came out at a reasonable time. Second time here while visiting area. So many chicken wing flavors to choose from! Complimentary small shredded lettuce/dressing with peanuts and mozzerella sticks arrive immediately. Things are looking great at this bb.q location! I've been satisfied the last few orders but today it was worth mentioning what a good job this team has done. Same boneless lunch special. It sucks that the prices keep rising for all restaurants, but at least this place is giving you a good value for the increase! It's supposed to be 6 boneless chicken, but I was pleasantly surprised when I found 7 very large breast meat pieces, fried to perfection with lots of secret sauce. Even the folds were fried well, but the meat was moist and soft which is a tough task for breast meat. The rice smelled and tasted good and a huge portion was scooped in the box. The box was wrapped with a rubber band which was the right move given how heavy the box weighed. The radish container was full (unlike other locations that have only a few pieces of radish inside). Everything tasted excellent and I can now highly recommend and attest that this is one of the best bb.q chicken locations in SoCal. On the phone I was quoted 20 minutes but 13 min. later, I got a text that it was ready. The friendly server made eye contact as soon as I walked in and she pleasantly smiled throughout the counter service. When my boyfriend (now husband) was stationed in Korea, he lived off base, and BB.Q Chicken was down the street from his condo. Every time I visited, we'd walk down to grab some chicken, so this is a nostalgic spot. When we learned that bb.q Chicken was opening in Anaheim, we were so happy but also skeptical. FOOD: Okay, they don't have all the flavors that they do in the tiny little Pyeongtaek location, but I'll take what I can have. The GOLDEN ORIGINAL is too plain and boring for me, it's not bad, but it's just not what I'm looking for. The SPICY GALBI is smoky and weirdly tastes like galbi lol I enjoyed it though. The GANGNAM STYLE is probably my favorite flavor! The black pepper sauce and spice level is something I can totally handle. Definitely need to have some Tums after eating these haha SERVICE: Everytime I had BB.Q Chicken, I just ordered online and picked it up at the store. The girls that work at the register were nice and straight to the point. I don't expect super-friendly service at a place like this. The spot we went to in Korea was owned by an old guy, and the shop was in his garage, so this is definitely a step up. ATMOSPHERE: They have K-Pop playing on the TVs, of course. I am very familiar with Korean cooking a family member is married to a Korean. I have been here twice. The first time I couldn't rave enough about then. The second time I ordered the same chicken, but added the ddeok bokki which was excellent. The chicken was a little bit undercooked and the sauce was sparing, giving it a not sogreat taste. I understand anyone can have a bad day and be rushed, however, be consistent and do not sacrifice the taste. I know they get better because I had it. Disclaimer: my kids say that I over hype everything. That being said, I'm more than a little disappointed that I haven't had better chicken in my 43 years on this Earth. Fried crispy on the outside, hot and juicy on the inside, and so ridiculously flavorful. Portion sizes are larger than we expected, so we ordered probably double what we needed when we got two whole chicken orders for four people. The original crispy chicken is like a revelation - it's exactly what all fried chicken should be. The secret sauce is somewhat sweet and spicy, but neither of those aspects overpowered the savory base of the sauce. The kimchi fried rice was also unreal, with the color and flavor that indicated nuclear levels of heat, but only a slight spiciness was actually present (maybe a 2 on a scale of 10). Service was also great, with the young woman that was running the front doing a great job of handling all the orders that came in while remaining attentive and warm. As far as the character and ambiance, I found those less impressive but adequate. The store was clean and the music was inoffensive, while the lighting was somehow both harsh and too dim. But seriously, with chicken this good, who cares? And they seem to have a good system for takeout, so you can easily choose to eat your chicken in the comfort of your own home. read more

Cheesling Fries: There are a lot of fries. Gangnam Style Chicken: The chicken is nicely moist at the center. I won't be purchasing this flavor again because while it was good, it wasn't something I would gravitate to again respectfully.
